Whispers

9 Mar

Finding direction in our lives is sometimes easy and we feel confident we’re going exactly where we want to go and are on the right road to get there. Other times as we move along we may experience some doubt. Even if everything seems to be exactly the way it should be we may hear a little whisper in the back of our minds that something needs to change. There may be a niggling suspicion that things aren’t exactly as they seem. If we’re busy and involved, we may ignore it and if the problem is small it may not matter. But often when we have a feeling that things aren’t right, there is something we need to look at. When we get quiet whispers that come again and again it’s wise to pay attention to them. We can’t know everything but we are highly perceptive. We may be subconsciously aware of something that doesn’t fit and the doubts that creep in may be a sign we need to look more carefully. If we’re doing something we really want to do, we may forge ahead no matter what comes to mind. But if there is a quiet, small voice of caution that whispers again and again, it’s wise to listen. We can stop and really look at the situation objectively and we may see something differently and choose to change our course. Sometimes things are exactly as they seem, but other times we may misunderstand what’s really happening. Listening to our inner voices, and heeding whispers of caution will help us more carefully and effectively navigate our way forward. We can be wise and careful and still accomplish everything we want to do.

We know what we want to do and we know how we want to do it. We are in control of our lives and we can decide how we manage it and what we will do. But we aren’t the only people who have influence over what happens to us. We cannot predict the decisions or actions of others and sometimes their plans will be in direct conflict with ours. If we don’t know what’s coming, we can’t possibly prepare. We can be confident and still exercise caution. We can move ahead with our eyes not only focused on the goal but those around us as well.

The world would be easier to navigate if everyone was honest and clearly stated what they were going to do and followed through on every promise. But that is not how things are. Everyone makes choices and some people will lie to us, some will promise things they have no intention of doing, and some will mislead us to achieve their personal goals. If we are careful and watchful we will have a better chance of succeeding no matter what others do. If we listen to any warnings or doubts and address them carefully we will be more aware and able to proceed more effectively. We can do anything and we can be wise. Listening to the whispers that may come will help us succeed.

Today if you have a feeling that things aren’t exactly as you think they are, step back and evaluate the entire situation openly and honestly. If there are problems, address them and correct your course going forward. You have everything you need to be successful. Listen carefully and pay attention and you’ll find the right way forward.

Up Ahead

8 Mar

We make all kinds of plans as we go through our days.  Sometimes our plans work out just like we imagined they would, but other times things may change.  The view up ahead may be different than we expected or our lives may turn and take us down new roads we didn’t anticipate.  We may find ourselves facing a different reality than we thought we’d see.  When the road ahead changes and we’re forced to go another way it may be hard to find our footing.  We may feel unsure because we don’t know exactly where we’re headed and we may doubt our ability to continue.  Change is constant and sometimes affects us greatly.  We may have moments when we find ourselves struggling to figure out which way to go.  It’s unsettling when we don’t know the road we’re on and it can be difficult to see what’s ahead.  But every road leads to many destinations and in time, if we give ourselves enough space to think things through, we will find our way.  Step by step we’ll find our bearings again.  Nothing in life is guaranteed except that at some point it will end.  Until then although we may want to control our journey we may sometimes have to redirect it and find another way.  We are capable of changing lanes and we can manage whatever comes to us.  If we take the changes a little at a time and process each step as we go, we’ll find our way. Happiness is always there for us and even if we have to search for it, we will find it.

There are countless detours we may face every day of our lives.  Other people may make decisions that impact us, our health situation may change, we may suddenly need to change our location or dozens of other events may come that disrupt our journey.  It’s not comfortable to leave what we know behind and try another way forward.  It may be difficult to adjust to the changes we must make to continue on.  Our confidence may suffer as we try to navigate through cloudy skies and threatening darkness.  We can recalibrate our compass forward and wait for the mists of uncertainly to lift.  There isn’t anything we can’t figure out and no matter what shakes us we will settle again.

When we’re overwhelmed and confused we may always seek the help of those who care about us.  There will always be someone willing to hear us and help us find our way but we must reach out for their hands.  We can ask for advice, search for answers and exercise faith in ourselves until we feel confident again.  The change we’re facing is only a passage and we will find our way through.  There are many roads ahead of us and we will navigate the best one going forward.  No confusion lasts forever and in time, even new places will become familiar.  We have everything we need to succeed.

Today if your road has suddenly shifted because of things out of your control and you feel unsure about which way to proceed, rely on your wisdom and experience, and ask for help if you need it.  You will find your way forward and reach any destination you choose.  There isn’t anything you can’t do.  Keep your eyes focused up ahead.  You already know where you want to go.  You will find the way.

Another Day

7 Mar

When we’re hoping for something or anticipating a change, and if we’ve been working hard to make it happen but are still waiting, it may be hard to be patient. Some things take a long time to arrive and if we’ve been waiting a long time it may seem as though they will never happen. Time takes a toll on us and we may become frustrated with the continual delay. If the change we’re seeking involves the decisions of others, they have control over the situation. If we must wait on them and they haven’t yet budged, waiting may become very difficult. If it becomes more than we want to deal with or we’ve decided we’ve had enough we may choose to let it go. If the change we are seeking is very important to us and we feel strongly about it becoming reality we might choose to wait a little longer. We can decide to wait just one more day. Just one day. We can choose to be patient for a little longer and go a little further. If we choose to give it one more day and still nothing changes, we may then decide how we want to proceed. We may wait one more day, every day, for a long time or we may let go of the plan. Our circumstances change continually and sometimes if we redirect our course we may be able to accomplish what we’ve been waiting for. Other times no matter what we do nothing changes. We can decide what we want to do and what is best for us. We can wait or we can go. Whatever we decide we will find our way forward.

The only person we have control over is ourselves. Sometimes we may influence those around us and if we’re very persuasive may convince them to do things our way. But everyone has the right to make their own decisions and if their decisions don’t agree with ours we may have to find other options. There are countless roads to every destination. We can accomplish anything we choose but we may need to revise our plans going forward to get to the goal. If we can’t get there now, we can set the goal aside for a time until our circumstances change and then try again. We don’t have to push constantly to win. We can revise our plans when needed and decide what will work best going forward.

Waiting for something we really want can be difficult. It’s hard to want something badly when there are obstacles in our way. If we have no control over what is needed to make things change and have done all we can to move forward, waiting may become a heavy burden. We can carry that burden for as long as we choose. We can wait indefinitely or we can decide to wait just one more day and then reconsider. We are in control of our lives and we deserve every happiness. If what we’ve been seeking hasn’t yet happened, we may continue to wait or we may consider other options. Either way, the choice is always ours.

Today if you’ve been waiting for something you really want and it hasn’t happened yet, decide how you want to go forward. You can wait another day or you can redirect your course. You deserve to be completely happy and have control over your life. Choose what will bring you the most joy going forward.

Super Highway

3 Mar

When we’re on a road trip and want to get to our destination quickly, we may choose a super highway to get there.  They are generally wide with several lanes, often in good condition and well paved.  Although there may be many cars traveling along with us, there are no stoplights to slow us down as we go.  Highways are popular, well-traveled and often busy.  In our lives when we’re deciding what we want to do and where we want to go, we can choose the path most people travel.  We can take the popular road and walk forward along with others doing what is expected.  There is nothing wrong with going with the flow but if we want to, we can turn off the main road and take an exit.  We can choose a path that isn’t well traveled, where the terrain is rocky because it hasn’t been worn down, and opt for a destination that is different from the norm.  Sometimes the most beautiful places are hidden away, and the most desirable outcomes are those that are hard to reach.  Super highways are great and we can always travel them.  But if we want our lives to be different, and prefer to travel someplace higher, we can take a turn off the highway.  We may design our own road forward, and choose a destination that is off the beaten path.

Some people prefer everyone to be the same, look the same, make similar choices and have common goals.   It’s often easier to relate to others who are like us.  We understand them because their choices are similar to ours and we may feel comfortable around them because they feel familiar.  But we aren’t clones of one another and we have the power to design our lives any way we want.  Even if we’ve been going along with the ideas of others for a time, if we decide we want to change course, we can.

As we travel on busy highways sometimes the scenery doesn’t change for hours.  Highways tend to be somewhat generic and it doesn’t matter where we are, they look about the same.  After some time we may not even notice what we’re passing as we move forward.  But every mile we travel is time we’re spending and once gone, can never be replaced.  We can look up and really see what’s around us and decide if we want to continue or make a change.  If we see something interesting off the road, we can choose to move toward it and leave the busy lanes behind.  There may be brambles in our way because nobody has cleared them, there may be things we must climb over to go forward, and we may need to turn a few times to continue forward.  But if the destination ahead is where we want to go we have everything we need to overcome anything to get there.  We can chart our own courses, and create our own paths.  We have everything we need to succeed and once we decide on a destination there is nothing strong enough to keep us from it.

Today if you’ve been traveling the same road with others and have decided you want something different, look around and decide where you really want to go.  Chart your own course forward and begin.  Every destination is there for you.  Choose what you want most and head toward it.  You will succeed and arrive exactly where you want to be.

Shallow Roots

2 Mar

There are billions and billions of trees all around the world. They give us shade and beauty, and provide oxygen. The very tiniest of saplings starts out with a single root that reaches down into the earth to absorb nutrients and water essential for survival. As trees mature their root structures expand and depending on circumstances will be either secure or precarious. If there is a lot of surface water and rich soil they may develop a shallow root network having no need to dig deep for what they need to survive. All roots feed the tree but shallow roots are vulnerable to wind damage and deterioration. Without sufficient anchor, in a storm if the wind is strong enough, a tree with shallow roots may fall over. As we go through our lives all the experiences we encounter enrich and strengthen us. If we don’t develop vitality in our relationships or commitment to what we’re doing, we may create shallow roots. We may have enough strength and understanding to get through easy times but if a storm rolls in and we are challenged we may lack the depth we need to find our way. We probably won’t actually fall over, but we may feel overwhelmed because we’ve done nothing to deepen our understanding or become strong. There are many storms in life. When they come, we must be ready with sufficient strength and courage to endure.

There will always be countless opportunities for us to grow and learn. If we reach beyond where we are for something greater we will gain new attributes and skills. Our understanding of life and those around us will be enriched and we’ll have a secure foundation of confidence. We can stretch beyond where we are and try to become something more to deepen our experience and become stronger and more capable. There is more to learn and do than we could ever accomplish and applying ourselves every day will give us a great foundation that will be firm and invincible.

If we prefer to stay in our small area and don’t extend ourselves, we may find comfort in doing the same things each day and feel safe in the familiarity of our lives. But life is unpredictable and there are countless things that may come we can’t anticipate. If all we know is what is comfortable and have no skills for coping with something new, we may be overcome when things change unexpectedly. Instead of hiding out and keeping ourselves isolated it is far wiser to reach out beyond what is comfortable and test our wings. We are far stronger and more capable than we think we are. As we extend ourselves we will find added security and courage. We can do anything. Deciding to reach beyond what is easy will make us stronger and happier as we learn more about life and those around us and we will be ready when things change.

Today if you’ve been keeping yourself in your own world, look a little further. Reach for something new and test your wings. You have incredible abilities just waiting to be experienced. You are strong and capable and you can handle anything that comes to you. Dig deep and let your roots find new direction. You have so much to share with us and we need your influence. Reach out and try something new. You will be enriched and invigorated by what you find.
