Auto Pilot

30 Aug

Often our lives are very busy and we have lots of things to get done.  We might have a list of tasks to accomplish or be in situations where there are constant developments that need our attention.  When we’re working hard moving forward and accomplishing things we may step into a sort of auto pilot role.  We may finish one thing and then immediately begin the next without much thought.  If we aren’t paying attention to what’s going on we may make mistakes and take turns that bring complications and problems.  We can’t go back in time and if we create an issue that complicates our way forward we will have to solve it before we can continue.  The time spent correcting our course and cleaning up a mess cannot be recaptured.  Auto pilot is great when there are parameters set up to allow things to go well but in our lives if we don’t pay attention we may falter and stumble.  Even when we’re busy and pressed to accomplish much we can step back for a moment to ensure we plan our next steps effectively.  The old saying that “haste makes waste” can apply.  We don’t have to hurry to be successful.  We can be wise and careful, and still accomplish everything we set out to do.

Some people are great planners.  They may have several calendars to post their projects and tasks on, electronic reminders to alert them when something is due, or composed daily schedules that allocate time for each endeavor.  Planning is great and is a useful tool but planning is just a way to organize our tasks and doesn’t allow for unforeseen complications.  Nothing is set in stone and often things happen that impact even the best designed plans.  When complications arise, as they inevitably will, we can adapt to the changes and modify our course going forward to complete the task.  Change is constant and being willing to adjust our trajectory will allow us to address our needs and find success.

Life is unpredictable and sometimes something we want to accomplish isn’t possible now.  Perhaps the timing is wrong, or others who need to be involved are otherwise occupied, or we don’t have all the information to proceed.  There are few times in life when we are subject to unchangeable deadlines.  If we need to set something aside for now, we can.  It doesn’t mean we’ll never get it done, it just means we plan to accomplish it at a later time.  Being willing to adjust our timeframes and continue forward will help us complete all the tasks we desire and continue forward with success.  We can be flexible and change our parameters whenever we need to.  Things will change and the opportunity to complete every task will arise.  When it does we’ll be ready and able to move forward.

Today if you’ve got a lot to accomplish and you’re rushing from one item to the next, take a moment to think about how you want to proceed.  You are capable of doing great things and accomplishing much.  Give yourself time to plan your next step forward and be confident and aware.  You can do anything and do it well.  Success is always there for you and you will gain it.

One Turn and Another

29 Aug

When things go wrong we sometimes face heartbreak and disappointment. If we think all is going well and then discover everything we imagine is wrong we may face serious discouragement. Sometimes we don’t know the whole story and may get lost thinking we’re on one road when in actuality we’re going a completely different direction. If we’re in a personal relationship that feels secure, and then discover we’re not on solid ground at all, we may take a tumble. The sands may slip beneath our feet, and we may lose our confidence that we can find our way through. It’s difficult to navigate unknown territory and we may feel we’re in a foreign place that is unsteady and unsure. Disappointment and heartbreak are hard to overcome. They may make us doubt our ability to discern truth and find our way forward. We can’t know what we don’t know. Sometimes facts arise that change our perspective completely and clarify our situation suddenly in unsettling ways. If we want to be successful in anything we must know the truth of the situation. Truth will bring happiness in the end but when it rises if we’ve been deceived about what is real it may take time to realign our direction and refocus on the way forward. We can overcome anything and there isn’t a situation too strong or difficult for us to manage. We can take the time we need to see things clearly and determine which way to go. Heartbreak cannot stop us. Disappointment cannot deter us. We are strong and capable, and will prevail.

Serious personal setbacks can be very painful. No matter how hard we try to move ahead, our disappointment and sorrow may linger for a time. We may think about all the decisions that brought us here, the influences we believed in, and consider all the choices we made. Learning from past mistakes and taking the time to look at everything will teach us more about ourselves and help us succeed in the future. We learn as we go and if we take our lessons forward we have the best chance of success. We can turn our direction and then if needed, turn again. We will find the best road forward and we will succeed.

Personal heartbreak can be extraordinarily difficult to overcome. If our tender feelings have been broken and we feel defeated we can take the time we need to heal before choosing the next step. There is no rush to move forward. We can step back and take a breath. As we pause and rest, and allow our minds to settle, all the options available will rise and we will begin to see things clearly. We can do anything and go anywhere we desire. There is nothing strong enough to hold us down. Every challenge and trial gives us greater strength and wisdom, and we will find the best road forward.

Today if you’ve been hurt and feel heartbroken over a difficult situation and aren’t sure you can continue, think about all the times you’ve managed trials before. You are stronger than you realize and have everything you need already to prevail. Take a breath and begin again. The world is there for you and you can do anything. Step forward. The road is ready and will take you anywhere you desire.

Keeping Score

28 Aug

As we go through our lives we have many opportunities to serve others and help out.  Most of us want to help when we can and try to be available to those who need us.  Serving those around us brings great satisfaction and joy, but there may be times when we feel we’re giving too much or others are taking advantage.  If the same people call on us over and over again for things they should be managing themselves we may begin to feel we’re being used.  We can always decline any request but there are sometimes complications in our relationships or associations that make saying no more difficult.  If we feel we’ve been taken advantage of or manipulated because of relationship constraints, we might decide we deserve something in return and begin to keep score tallying up what we’ve given and what we’ve received.  If we find we’ve given much more than has been reciprocated it may affect how we feel about the other party and what we’re willing to do going forward.  It’s important to have balance in our lives and if we’re doing things that bring us discomfort we may certainly stop.  But we are responsible for the decisions we make and if we allow others to abuse our generosity we can stop.  We don’t have to keep track of how much we’ve given, or how many times we’ve agreed to help.  If we feel we’ve given all we can, we can say no when the next request comes.  We never have to do more than we are comfortable with and choosing what is fair and best for us going forward will bring us peace and confidence.  It’s better to manage our decisions with those around us than to give more than we want and lose our connection.  We know what’s best and we know what we can do.  Taking control and choosing wisely will allow us to be helpful without giving too much.

Some people have trouble managing their lives.  They may make decisions that bring complications into their lives and get overwhelmed when things go wrong.  We’re all responsible for the lives we live and can create them any way we choose.  If we are careless and foolish, and make choices that bring us hardship, we are responsible for the situations that arise.  We cannot push the burden of cleaning up a problem we’ve created onto someone else.  Our choices belong to us and the results of those choices are our responsibility.  We can change our lives any time we want.  We don’t need to rely on others continually to show us the way.  We have all the wisdom and intelligence we need to make good decisions and walk the path we desire most.

It’s good to ask for advice when we need it and we may certainly seek out those who may help us when we get stuck.  But if we fall into the habit of constantly asking others to help us solve our problems we may forget we are capable of solving many of them on our own.  We can resolve even complex and difficult issues if we take the time we need to evaluate them and choose our way forward.  It’s fine to seek help when we need it but we can also learn to be self-reliant and trust that we’ll find the answers.  There really isn’t anything too difficult for us to manage.  We have incredible insight and great wisdom from which to draw and all the answers are there for us.

Today if you’ve been asked to help again and feel you may be giving too much, evaluate the situation objectively and make the best choice before you proceed.  You are in control of your life and can manage it any way you choose.  If you’re stuck and feel like you need help to find answers, seek it, but remember you already know what you want to do and have all the courage and wisdom you need to proceed.  You are amazing and wise.  There isn’t anything you can’t do.  Be courageous.  You have everything you need to succeed.

No Power

25 Aug

Our lives can be complicated and there may be times when we have many things to deal with at the same time.  When we’re stressed with many issues that need our attention we must work hard to keep all the balls in the air.  It isn’t easy to solve many things at once and although we will accomplish everything that needs to be done, in the midst of the process we may feel overwhelmed.  The tension and pressure to resolve issues may make us feel agitated and on edge, and sleep may elude us as we try to process everything before us.  We all face difficult and challenging periods in our lives and no matter how strong and capable we are, the continued pressure may wear on us.  After a while we may feel we can’t take anymore.  Our power feels diminished and we are exhausted.  Our batteries die and our energy fades.  When that happens, the only way to continue is to stop.  It seems counter-productive to stop in order to go forward, but once our power has been drained we must stop and recharge.  We can step away for a time, find refreshment, forget about all the issues before us and rest.  If we take a short break, leave the situation and allow our minds to wander, we may be amazed at how clear things become.  We will be able to see everything in a different light and as we allow our minds to clear, answers we’ve been seeking will have the chance to rise.  There is no problem or complication that is beyond us.  We can solve anything but we can’t move forward if we’re overwhelmed and exhausted.  Taking a few moments to find respite and relax will give us renewed energy and clarify the way forward.

There is an answer to every problem we face.  All roads lead to a destination and there is never only one way to get there.  If the road we’ve been traveling is complicated and there are continual road blocks moving forward, we can look at our options and find another path.  Even if the problem has always been solved one way in the past we can choose a new way to get to the destination.  Every option is available to us and thinking about new ways forward may open new resolutions previously hidden.  We have everything we need to solve any problem.  Keeping our minds open and our eyes focused on the way forward will help us resolve any issue before us.

Nobody needs to re-invent the wheel.  If we get stuck we can reach out to those around us for additional information, advice or counsel.  We all have a lot to offer and our understanding and comprehension of issues will differ.  We can draw on the experience of others and use their expertise to help us find the answers we need.  We don’t have to do everything alone and we can bring others in who may have a perspective that allows us to move forward.  We are wise and competent and there isn’t anything we can’t do.  We will find every answer and every solution if we step back, take a break, and seek help from those around us.

Today if you’re facing several complications and you are overwhelmed at the tasks before you, take a moment to step back and see everything clearly.  Allow your mind to rest and the answers will come.  You have everything you need already to find success.  Step back, stop and then move forward.  All the answers are there for you.

It’s About Time

24 Aug

We often have many things to accomplish with our time and if we are overloaded we may dovetail items in an effort to get everything done.  Although we call this multi-tasking, current research indicates it’s impossible for us to concentrate on more than one thing at a time.  If we crunch everything together and push through them all at once we might get them done but we will never be able to pay attention to all the details needed to get everything done well.  When we’re pressed and feel pressure to finish projects we may believe we have no choice but to do them all at once.  Getting many things done is helpful when there is a lot to do but if we have to go back and fix things because we didn’t do them well the first time it may take more time in the end than if we had waited until we could do them right.  There is a balance between doing things and doing them well.  We live in an immediate gratification world.  Everyone seems to want everything right now and it can be hard to keep up.  We can acknowledge our abilities and recognize time constraints, and then make a plan that will allow us to move forward while still giving us the time we need to be successful.  No matter how much there is to do, we are in control of how we proceed.  We can be thoughtful and wise, and move forward effectively by carefully assessing what we need to do and the best way to get it done.  Success is always there for us.  We have everything we need to handle even very stressful situations and find the best way through.

Some people are very impatient.  When they want something done, they want it done immediately.  If they are powerful and task us with a project we may feel the need to drop everything else to address their request.  That may work sometimes but all our projects are important and if we stop in the middle of something to start another task we may lose our focus and momentum.  When we return to the first task we may have to start all over to find our way through.  Going backward will never take us forward.  Even if someone asks us to do something right away, we can decide where our priorities lie and make the best decision to manage everything.

We all want to be helpful when others ask us for assistance.  If we always agree to do everything we’re asked to do we may find our lives are filled with the needs of others and little time to live for ourselves.  If we are encompassed with chores and tasks we will likely burn out and feel frustrated.  We are in control of our lives and we never have to do more than we are comfortable with.  We can say no when we need to.  Our time is ours to manage and we can handle it in ways that bring us joy and happiness.

Today if you’re overwhelmed with everything you must accomplish, make a plan to get the most important tasks completed.  Be sure to schedule time for yourself to take a break and refresh.  You are capable and strong and can do anything you choose.  Remember how important you are and plan your time in ways that bring you confidence and joy.  There isn’t anything you can’t do and do well.  Take it step by step and you’ll succeed.
