The Changeup

10 May

Life is long and what we do and who we become is up to us. We can spend our time going through the motions, taking things as they come and just dealing with what life brings, or we can take control of our lives and do things on purpose to make changes we desire. Change is always possible but it isn’t always easy and can be difficult. If we’ve been in the same job for a long time and it’s not bringing us the rewards we desire or taking us where we most want to go, we can move on to something else. If we’re in a relationship that isn’t fulfilling and brings us stress and discomfort, we can step away and go in another direction. We certainly understand these concepts but actually taking the leap and doing what we must to change our situation takes courage and determination. It’s always easy to keep things the same and deal with the status quo, and there is no way to see the future or predict how our new plans will work out. Every road is possible and nothing is out of reach, and if we want something new, we must be willing to step into the unknown and outside of our comfort zones to get it. We are strong and capable, and there isn’t anything we can’t accomplish when we’re ready to move. By trusting ourselves, and believing we will succeed, we can step forward and create the lives we desire most. We deserve complete happiness. We never have to settle, and with focus and clarity, can do anything.

Customs and traditions can be very powerful, and family expectations may be strong. There may be great pressure to conform to what has been done in the past and follow someone else’s example. Our close relationships are important but we don’t need to give up what we really want to honor them. We can be respectful and polite, and still choose the paths we desire most. Our lives belong to us and we can decide how we will live them and what we’ll do. We can take a different route and make choices that will take us where we most want to go, and achieve our own personal goals.

There is no such thing as destiny and nobody has the power to tell us how to live our lives. We can do what we like and have unlimited chances to achieve whatever we desire. If our first plan doesn’t work out, it’s not a sign that we aren’t supposed to succeed. Wrong turns teach us what doesn’t work and help us adjust our course until we reach success. Every possibility is there for us and every destination awaits. We need only decide what we want, and then step forward, confident we will succeed.

Today if you want something different but have been hesitant to move, trust yourself. You know what you want, and have what you need to get it. Turn your course and take the first step toward the goal. Every dream is there for you and nothing is too hard or too complex for you to figure out. Be confident and clear. There is greatness inside you and you are wiser and more powerful than you imagine. Begin the journey now. Nothing can keep you from success and you will win.

Shoulda Woulda…

5 May

Everyone’s experiences in life are different. We make our decisions and choices based on what we’ve learned, what we want, and how we feel. Some things go exactly the way we expected, and others, not so much. Most of the time we try hard to choose the best path moving forward. We don’t know what we don’t know and there is no way to have every single fact about every single situation. We must work with what we have and deal with the consequences. If we’ve had a stumble and something we did blew up in our faces, there may be others around us willing to give us their opinions about what happened. They may tell us we should have done this or that differently, or maybe if we’d asked them they would have had all the answers. Uh huh, sure. It’s very easy to armchair quarterback and see everything clearly after the fact. We can look back with all the knowledge we now possess and see where we made the wrong turn, but using insight and knowledge we didn’t have at the beginning to judge our actions is a fool’s game. It’s always easy to see the road after we’ve traveled it, but there is no way to see the end at the start. No matter what’s happened, we don’t need to demean ourselves thinking we should have done things differently. We can learn from what’s happened, and take all that knowledge forward to help us in the future. What’s done is done and there is no way to change the past. We are intelligent and completely capable of making excellent choices. By trusting our own personal wisdom and doing everything we can to move ahead with clarity, we will reach success. Nothing is permanent and we have everything we need to do anything we desire.

Most of us have met someone who thinks they know everything. They tell others what they should do, where they should go, how they should dress, and everything else they have an opinion about. We can certainly take any advice we’re offered, but we know who we are and what we want. We can listen to suggestions and then move forward according to our own desires and decisions. There isn’t anything we can’t manage or figure out, and with patience and focus, we can achieve every goal.

When things go wrong, someone may tell us if we’d only done it their way everything would have worked out. Maybe they think they have more insight into our personal lives than we do, which frankly is impossible. Nobody knows us better than we know ourselves. If something goes wrong, it’s not the end of the road or the end of our journey. Mistakes are just detours that tell us what doesn’t work, which is valuable information. We can stand strong and step forward with confidence, continuing on to success.

Today if your plans have gone awry and didn’t work out, do not despair. Learn everything you can from the experience, and take all the wisdom and insight you’ve gained forward with you. You are amazing and have greatness inside you. Trust yourself and be confident. Nothing is out of reach and every destination is waiting. Step forward and make them yours.

Just This Moment

7 Mar

We will face unlimited challenges and endless trials as we go through our lives. We only have control over ourselves and no matter how hard we try to prepare, sometimes things go wrong, and our plans blow up and disintegrate. Maybe something happens we have no knowledge of or control over that impacts the road ahead, or someone makes a decision that prevents us from moving forward. A million things could happen and we may end up standing confused and stuck, not knowing what to do next. If the situation is dire and painful and there are serious and far reaching concerns pressing on us, we may be paralyzed trying to figure out what to do next. It may seem it’s too much to manage and we may feel completely overwhelmed and lost. Hard times come and they may knock us off our feet as we try to process what’s going on and what to do. There may be many things to address and a lot to comprehend, but we don’t have to face it all at once. We can stop and stand still, and look carefully at everything around us. We need only manage just this moment. By simply processing what’s happening right now, we’ll be able to see the next step. We don’t have to see the entire road ahead to reach success. We can take it all one step at a time, and manage each moment as it comes. Each step will move us closer to clear skies and success, and as we keep our eyes focused forward, we will find our way. Life can be complicated and we may face situations we do not dream we can overcome, but we are stronger and more powerful than we think we are, and nothing can hold us in place forever. By trusting ourselves, and taking our time, we can find all the answers we need and overcome anything. There is great courage and wisdom inside us, and we will succeed. Our greatest dreams are waiting, our most desired destinations are there, and with determination and clarity, we will prevail.

Everyone has things they think they could never overcome. The loss of a job, financial devastation, the death of a loved one, the diagnosis of a terrible disease or any of a thousand other extreme situations. Nobody wants to suffer and go through hard times, but life is unpredictable and no matter how hard we try to pave the road ahead, trouble eventually finds us all. What we do when hardship comes determines what happens next. If we fall apart and take to our beds, depressed and unable to move, the pain will remain longer than if we stand firm, look at all the options before us, and make a plan for the days ahead. There will never be anything so terrible and complicated that we cannot find our way through. The answers will always be there for us, and with patience and clarity, we will find them all.

Some situations are so powerful they may change the trajectory of our lives. Each experience brings new information and teaches us something. If the roads we counted on disappear, we may completely re-evaluate what we’re doing and where we’re going. We never have to continue in any one direction. The whole world is there for us, and when we’re ready, we can chart a new course and start again. Nothing is powerful enough to keep us down. There is great success ahead, and we will make it ours.

Today if your plans have fallen apart and you don’t know how to proceed, trust yourself. You don’t have to solve everything all at once. Decide what you want to do and take one step forward. Look ahead and then take another. You know what you want and the goal is there for you. Be confident and trust yourself. You are more powerful than you imagine and nothing is out of reach. Stand strong. Every success is possible and you will make them yours.

One Tiny Star

16 Feb

We experience all kinds of ups and downs as we go through our lives. There will be many different situations and we’ll be happy, sad, stressed, relieved, scared, irritated, and thousands of other possibilities. We can’t see beyond where we are and there is no way to predict what will happen next. Everything may be moving along well when suddenly there is a turn, something changes, and everything is upside down. We’ll all face times of difficulty and grief, and when it’s extreme, the darkness may be pervasive and intense. When things are going wrong, when we’re alone and bereft, when it seems there is no hope, we may be overwhelmed and convinced we will not survive. It’s hard to believe in light when all we can see is darkness ahead. But even on the darkest night, even when it feels like all is lost, there will still be one tiny star, one glint of brightness still visible in the distance. There will never be a time, no matter how bad things get, when everything is black. There will always be something good waiting in the wings. By focusing on the one small thing that’s going right, we will find the courage we need to continue on. Even if we lose everything, all our friends desert us, our lover walks away, all our money disappears, our cars are repossessed, we get fired from our jobs, and absolutely nothing is going right, it’s not the end. It may be a horrible, stressful, hard time, but it’s not the end of our lives. We’re still here, still breathing, and there is still great potential for the road ahead. Life is unpredictable, and every day will bring something new, but nothing is powerful enough to overcome us and hold us in place forever. We are stronger and more powerful than we think we are, and will find our way through whatever comes.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong, and if we constantly think about the potential for disaster, we may never extend ourselves beyond what we know. There is comfort in familiarity and routine, but we have unlimited potential and can trust ourselves to reach further. There might be complications, but we are intelligent and can manage them. There might be problems, but we are wise and will find our way.

We may suffer through loss and disappointment that’s so great we feel paralyzed with pain. Grief and despair are not easy to navigate, but they cannot last forever. Change is constant, and no matter what we’re facing today, in time, it will change. The sun will shine again, our spirits will lift, and we’ll begin to look forward with confidence. There will always be something that’s working, and by focusing on what’s going right, we can move ahead sure of success.

Today if you’re going through serious trials, and it’s dark and threatening, look at everything objectively. There is still one tiny star shining light for you. Stand strong and take a step forward. Nothing can hold you down when you’re ready to move. Be wise and confident. Every blessing and every success is still there for you, and nothing can keep you from them.

Getting Back in the Pool

25 Jan

Life is filled with opportunities. It is also filled with challenges. When we’re trying hard to move forward toward a goal, or pushing to change something in our lives, we may exert a lot of energy in time and effort. It’s easy to keep moving when the road ahead is clear and we’re making good progress. When we’re successful in moving the ball forward, there is great satisfaction and we feel energized. Unfortunately, that will not always be the case. Sometimes it seems no matter what we do, how clearly we focus, or how hard we try, nothing changes and we’re still in the same place. It can be maddening to try hard and feel like we’re going nowhere. If we get stuck we can look at everything objectively and decide how we want to continue. Do we want to keep pushing, or do we want to stop? Timing is important, and if we’re stuck and tired of the struggle, we can set the goal aside until our situation changes. Setting something aside isn’t the same as abandoning it forever. We can change anything at any time and we never have to keep doing something we don’t want. Taking the time to consider all the options before us and determine what we want the most will help us decide what to do next. Once we decide how we want to proceed, we can plan our steps forward and continue on toward success.

If we want to learn to swim, the first time we step into the pool, the water may seem dangerous and deep. In our initial attempt to swim across the length we may gasp for air as we try to keep from going under. If we get overwhelmed, we may climb out, convinced we’re going to drown, and decide we’re done. But if we really want to learn to swim, we have to get back in the pool, and push forward. It’s the same with anything new we’re trying to learn. The first steps aren’t always easy and we may face a setback at the beginning, but the goal will always be possible if we’re willing to keep going. Each step forward will take us closer to the destination, and with persistence and focus, we will prevail.

It’s impossible to see the end of any road from the beginning. When we’re starting toward a new goal, we may make an excellent plan for moving forward, but there is no way to know what will happen, what unexpected complications will arise, or how things will go. Trouble may come, problems may get in the way, there may be a detour or some delay we didn’t see coming, and a thousand other possibilities. Success will always be possible, but we may have to change the way we get to it. By being flexible and trusting ourselves to overcome whatever happens, we can be confident we will win.

Today if you’ve been pushing toward a goal but it’s still beyond your reach, decide how you want to proceed. You are wise and capable, and can accomplish anything you desire. Plan your next steps and be confident of success. Nothing is powerful enough to hold you in place indefinitely, and with persistence and focus, every dream will be yours.
