Doing It Anyway

14 Jun

We can accomplish just about anything we want to as we go through our lives. Few things are out of reach and if we’re determined to get something done, we can reach any goal we desire. If we want to do something new that’s never been accomplished before, others may tell us it’s impossible, and there’s no way we’ll succeed. There are some things that aren’t possible – we can’t fly on our own, we can’t jump over skyscrapers, or dig to the center of the earth – but most things are possible and within reach if we’re willing to work for them. Even if others have tried something and failed, it doesn’t mean we won’t succeed. If nobody else has been able to get it done, we can do it anyway. The world is filled with possibilities and we are only limited by our own personal choices. We don’t have to stay in one place, or do the same things, or remain in familiar situations. We can step out, reach for something new, and push ourselves to achieve something more. Every day brings new options and we already have what we need to experience them. Routines may make us feel comfortable but they rarely teach us anything new. We can change things up, open new doors, step on new roads, and head for someplace different. Life is filled with possibilities, and we can do anything we want to do. Variety brings refreshment and renewal, and teaches us more about ourselves and the world around us. The potential is there for us, and we can step forward and experience something we’ve never done before. We can have the lives we dream about and go anywhere we want to go. The opportunities are endless, and the whole world is waiting.

Life is filled with responsibilities and there are things we must do each day in order to care for our lives effectively. It’s easy to get caught up in them and find ourselves in a rut, and all our days may look the same with little variation. It’s fine to have a predictable life and stability is helpful when we want to move forward. But we can take care of business and still find time to stretch beyond where we are toward something new. We’re in control of our own destinies and can shape and design them any way we choose.

People may have all kinds of expectations for our lives. Our families may expect us to follow certain traditions, our jobs may require us to fit into a specific model, and others may want us to follow along with their choices. It’s always easier to interact when everyone is on the same page, but our lives belong to us. We can express them any way we want, and do what’s most important to us, even if nobody else agrees. We have unique and specific gifts to offer the world that nobody else can give. Our choices are ours to make and we can live the lives we want the most.

Today if you’ve been doing what’s expected but want something more, decide what you want and step forward. Your life is yours to design. Everything you dream about is possible. You have all that’s needed to do anything you want. Change direction and begin toward the life you desire most. It’s all there for you, waiting, and you can have it.

Overcoming

10 May

“Difficulties are just things to overcome, after all.”   Ernest Shackleton

Life is filled with challenges and opportunities for us to grow and learn new skills. Much of our learning comes from facing difficulties and finding our way through them. Every day brings us something new and as we embrace each opportunity for change, we get closer to the people we most want to be. Nobody wants a life filled with hardship or trouble, but sometimes it seems that’s what we get. Thankfully, nothing lasts forever and as we untangle each problem, we are edified and enlightened. There are endless things to learn and each experience gives us another tool to use going forward. Overcoming difficult times teaches us more about ourselves and the world around us than an easy life could ever offer. The hard days bring us resolve and depth, and we learn how to manage stress and overcome doubt and fear. We often find that we learn the most when we’ve been through a serious trial. We never know what tomorrow will bring, but we can be confident that no matter what happens, we have all the courage and temerity we need to find our way. Even the strongest, most powerful storms cannot last forever. At the end of the tempest, the skies will clear, the sun will shine and we’ll find peace and comfort. There isn’t anything we can’t do and nothing is strong enough to overcome us. We can have faith in our ability to prevail, and trust ourselves to find all the answers we need. We are powerful and resilient, and can face anything that comes. Our lives will be embellished and as we move forward, we’ll find great satisfaction and happiness.

When we must face a complicated and difficult situation, we may be unsure. If it’s extreme and threatening, we may feel we are doomed and will never survive. But no matter how bad things are we can take our time to see them objectively and take them apart one step at a time. We don’t have to solve everything at once. We can find one answer after another until we reach the solution. Every answer is there for us and with patience and confidence, we will prevail.

Fear is something we all face from time to time. If we’re surprised and stopped in our tracks by events that have transpired unexpectedly, we may not be confident we can overcome. If we feel overwhelmed, it may be hard to think and process what we should do next. We can step back and stand still, and give ourselves a moment to look at where we are and what’s possible going forward. There will always be a solution to any problem we face, and if we stand firm and think clearly, we’ll find it.

Today if you’re facing a complicated and serious problem, and feel overwhelmed, remember how successful you’ve already been solving other issues. Trust yourself. You are wise and perfectly capable of managing anything before you. Stand strong and be confident. You will find every answer you need, and reach success.

Waking Up

25 Apr

It’s amazing when springtime rolls around and we see all the plants and trees start to shed their winter drab and put on their new buds and blooms. The leaves begin to form on the trees and there are endless shades of green all around us. The early flowers pop through the ground and display their amazing blossoms and incredible perfume. Winter is a beautiful season, but when it’s over it’s exciting to see everything waking up again. There is a newness everywhere and we feel the great promise of the coming summer. Our lives ebb and flow like the natural seasons. Sometimes we feel awake and engaged, and other times we may feel bogged down with routine and boredom. No matter what’s going on around us, we decide what we’ll do and where we’ll go. We never have to stand still if we want to move, and every destination is open and waiting for us to arrive. If we feel stuck, we can choose a new goal and start moving toward it. If we’re bored, we can turn and go in a new direction, meeting new people and learning about new places. Living each day to the fullest, wide awake and aware of everything around us will enrich us and deepen our understanding of the world and our place in it. There are endless possibilities always available. Like the spring buds popping open around us, we can be open to new experiences and challenges. Our lives can be rich and filled with interest and satisfaction. We can design them any way we like and when we live every day to the fullest, we will find great gratification and happiness.

It’s easy to get stuck in a routine doing the same things over and over, and forget all the opportunities around us. If we stay on the same road every single day, we may miss countless new experiences and the chance to share our lives with others. We can manage our responsibilities and take care of our obligations, and still expand our horizons. The world is a huge place with billions of people, all of whom have something different to offer. We can reach out to them, step away from what we know and try something new. Every destination is possible and nothing is out of reach.

There is security in keeping our lives small and never extending ourselves beyond where we are. We may feel safe knowing how things will go every day and what to expect. But if we step beyond the common roads we’ve been traveling we may find incredible adventures we never dreamed possible. By stretching further into foreign territory, our imagination will be awakened and we will be delighted by each new experience. We can open our eyes to everything that’s possible and learn new things, meet new people, and find great fulfillment.

Today if you’ve been going along following the same road again and again, step out and see what life brings you. There are incredible blessings waiting for you if you will embrace them and try something new. Decide to live your life wide awake and aware of every possibility. There isn’t anything you can’t do. You are incredible and amazing. The whole world is there for you. Reach further, stretch beyond where you are, and claim it.

Sidewalk Cracks

17 Apr

As we’re walking briskly along, we might see a tiny flower poking through a sidewalk crack. It’s amazing to imagine how anything could ever take root in the middle of a concrete path but there it is – a tiny, perfect flower – raising its head to the sunshine determined to survive. Sometimes our lives feel like that. We’re surrounded by others busily going about their duties and fulfilling their various roles and responsibilities, and we may feel we’re pushing up through an endless concrete road trying to survive. We may seem insignificant and overlooked compared to the seemingly obvious accomplishments of others, and it can be hard to feel important and valued. If others are louder than we are or garner more attention than we do we may fade into the background, unsure of ourselves. But we are here and we are important. We have so much to offer, and everything we do changes the world around us in some way. There is no way to know how much impact our decisions have over others and as we go through our days, choosing well, we bring light and goodness. We are worth more than we can imagine and our influence brightens every situation. Like that tiny flower pushing up through the sidewalk, our very presence can bring joy and delight. Nobody else can give the gifts we have to offer. The world is a huge place with billions of people, but there isn’t anyone else like us anywhere. Our influence is critical and we fill an important role. We can be confident that we’re essential and valuable, and nobody can ever take our place.

When we’re baking cookies, there are a lot of different ingredients we need to add to get the results we desire. If we leave even one item out of the mix, the cookies won’t come out the way we want them to. The recipe may call for a tiny amount of salt and we may think it’s so small we can just ignore it. But then when we taste the cookies, we discover that even though the amount of salt was small, omitting it has changed the entire flavor and the cookie isn’t as good. We don’t have to be the main focus to be important. Even if our voice is small, it’s valuable. Our influence makes everything better, and brings variety and richness to the world around us.

There are so many big, amazing things happening around the world all the time. There are great discoveries being made, great accomplishments being completed, and it’s easy to feel we don’t mean much to the overall scheme of things. But if we weren’t here, all the relationships we have with others and all the good influence we bring would disappear. The world would be left with a void where we offered our help and encouragement. Our influence is imperative to the success of everything around us. We are valuable and worthwhile, and bring positive energy and light to the whole world.

Today if you feel insignificant and irrelevant, remember there isn’t anyone else like you anywhere. You have gifts and blessings to offer nobody else can give. You are priceless, and bring a light to everything around you. Be confident. We need your presence, and the whole world is blessed because you are here.

Just a Moment

1 Apr

There’s a lot going on in our lives all the time. We have responsibilities to attend to, things that need to be done, people asking for our help, appointments we need to make and the list is never ending. We have a lot of priorities we want to get done, and as we rush around and accomplish so much, our personal needs may get pushed aside. The time we need to recharge may get shorter and shorter, and before we know it, we may be burned out and exhausted. Once we deplete all our resources, we can do no more. There will always be more than we can accomplish all at once. No matter how hard we work or how fast we go, there will always be another task waiting. Before we rush headlong into the fray, we can look at everything before us and make a reasonable plan for completion. Whatever we don’t accomplish today can be done tomorrow. Pushing ourselves beyond our limits and setting unrealistic goals will only lead to fatigue and defeat. There is plenty of time to do what is most important. The rest can be managed later. As we move through our list of projects, it’s important to allow time to take a break and refresh ourselves. Just a short walk, or a few minutes of quiet reflection can help us navigate a busy and demanding day more effectively. Allowing ourselves a moment of rest to look around and enjoy our day will rejuvenate us and give us the energy we need to succeed. Every day is a blessing. We can accomplish much and still find time to reflect on what’s most important. We are strong and capable, and can do anything we desire. Remembering to value our personal time as much as our tasks will help us find balance and happiness. We know what we want and what we need. We can take care of business and still take care of ourselves.

There are a lot of people coming in and out of our lives all the time. They may be family members, co-workers, friends, acquaintances and some we’ll interact with once and never see again. They may ask us for help with something and we may certainly agree. Our time is ours to manage, and we can give them as much as we like. If we’re mindful of all our responsibilities and our personal needs, we will be able to serve effectively and still have the time we need to take care of ourselves. Constantly replenishing our well will ensure we always have enough to keep going and still share with others.

Caring for ourselves is our responsibility. We can’t expect anyone else to know what we need or how much rest we require. Making sure we’re at our best will help us accomplish everything before us. It’s impossible to be as effective as possible if we’re sleep deprived, hungry or overwhelmed. If the beginning isn’t working, we will never reach the ending. We can take what we need and be strong and effective. Every blessing is possible and with planning and care we can reach every destination.

Today if you’ve been rushing around and neglecting yourself, remember you are the most important person in your equation. Give yourself what you need and you’ll be strong and effective. You can do anything if you plan effectively and take care of yourself. Every destination is possible and you will prevail.

Chink in the Armor

15 Mar

Most of try to do the best we can every day. We try to make good decisions, be helpful to those around us, and set a good example. It takes constant attention to choose well and we apply ourselves to the task in an effort to succeed. Often the right choice is easy to see but sometimes the waters get muddy and it’s hard to determine which way to go. At times like that, all we can do is make the best choice possible and see what happens. If every day went well and we never experienced stress, time pressures or confusion, our chances of making a good decision would be enhanced. But life is rarely like that. Most often there’s a lot going on around us, others may press us to hurry, we may have many balls in the air at once, and the time it takes to see everything clearly is lost. We may make a decision out of desperation or frustration and just deal with the results when they come. Nobody is perfect and sometimes we all make mistakes. Even when we’re trying hard, we may get a chink in our armor from a bad choice. We may end up going the wrong way, we might impact others negatively, or shut doors we need to move forward. If we’ve gone far from where we need to be to continue ahead, it may take time to get back on track. We can focus on where we want to go and do what is needed to find our way. A chink in our armor is just a momentary delay. It cannot keep us from progressing or prevent us from reaching success. We have everything we need to be successful in any endeavor. There is sufficient wisdom and courage inside us to take us anywhere we want to go. Every destination is possible and with focus and determination, we will prevail.

Lots of things can go wrong when we’re pushing ahead. We may get the wrong impression, go the wrong way, or get lost completely. Fortunately, nothing in life is permanent and we can always correct anything we need to start again. Nothing is written in stone and everything can be modified. There is no need to despair if we’ve made a mistake in judgement. We can learn everything possible from what’s happened and use the knowledge we’ve gained to move forward with confidence.

Everyone has their own opinions and ideas about how things should go. Some may tell us to go one way, some another, and some may tell us the goal is too difficult and we should give up and stop. Although we may listen to any advice we value, we don’t need approval or permission to do anything. We can design our lives any way we choose and go anywhere we want. Even if everyone else is going south, we can set our journey going north. We know what we want, and with faith and determination can succeed at anything we desire.

Today if you’ve made a big mistake that has set you back and feel like you’ve failed, be confident and trust yourself. Mistakes teach us what doesn’t work and give us more information to help us in the future. Be positive and fearless. You can do anything you desire. Every dream is possible. You are stronger and wiser than you imagine. Nothing can keep you from success and you will reach your destination.

The Missing Piece

7 Feb

It’s disappointing to do a jigsaw puzzle and get to the end only to discover we’ve lost a piece. Every piece is in place except one. No matter how many pieces fit into the design the last one missing ruins the picture. There’s a hole glaring at us that can’t be filled. It’s obvious and undeniable. In our lives there may be times when we feel insignificant, or that somehow, we don’t count or don’t matter. It can be hard to feel important, especially if we’re in a group of outspoken and powerful people. If we’re quiet and timid, we may drift into the background and all but disappear. But each of us is unique and offer gifts to the world nobody else can offer. Our lives matter, and are important. Each of us is like a piece of the puzzle. We’re all needed. If even one is missing, there will be a loss. Our voices are critical to the entire piece and even if they’re soft, we need to hear them. The world is huge, and can be overwhelming. There are billions of people, and we might feel there’s no way we could possibly make a difference. But each time we extend ourselves to help someone else, each time we speak up, and each time we step forward, we change the world around us. Like a pebble in a pond, our actions extend far beyond where we are and make the world a better place. Everything we do changes something. We can participate, be confident and share our thoughts and opinions. The world needs our ideas and we are integral to everything that’s happening. We can be confident we matter and remember our importance each day.

Every choice we make has a result. If we are kind and approachable, those around us will be more open and welcoming than if we are rude and aloof. A sealed box hides what’s inside until we open it. If we shut ourselves off from those around us, they will never know who we are or what we can offer. However, if we’re open and receptive to letting others in, we can build a great network of personal connections that can embellish and enhance our lives. We have so much to offer. Allowing others to share it will bring us satisfaction and happiness.

Small gestures of kindness and support can bring great results. A reassuring smile can help someone through a difficult day. If our attitude is one of friendship and understanding, we can bring great benefit to our lives and to those around us. Others will learn they can rely on us when they feel unsure and we’ll build a feeling of companionship and support. We’re all connected more deeply than we realize. We can be the one piece that turns everything around toward a happier and more complete result.

Today if you feel you’re insignificant and don’t count, remember your voice is a piece of the great puzzle. You are important and valued, and we all need you. Nobody can give the gifts you possess. Your voice is important and we want to hear it. You bring a unique and valuable perspective. Speak up and let us know who you are. The whole world is blessed because you are here.
