Unexpected Consequence

13 Jun

Every single decision we make will bring some sort of result. Many times we can see what will happen if we choose something, but not always. Life is complex and there is no way to know everything about anything at any time. There will always be unknowns, and situations beyond our reach that may impact something we’re doing. Once we’ve made our choice and things start to unfold, all the ramifications of the road ahead will start to show themselves and we may be surprised by what we see. Some complications may be very involved and if we had known about them before hand we may have chosen another way forward. Unexpected consequences happen. We don’t know what we don’t know and even when we try our best to choose wisely, sometimes things go awry. There is no way to read the future, or predict what will happen next. The best we can do is look at all our options carefully, and decide on the best way forward. We are intelligent and highly capable. If things go wrong and our plans go up in smoke, we have everything we need to look again and make another choice. There isn’t anything we can’t do if we’re willing to continue forward. Nothing is out of reach and with wisdom and patience every goal is possible.

Some decisions have known possible results. If we smoke throughout our lives, the odds that we’ll get cancer are increased. If we constantly make poor decisions, the chances of finding happiness are minimized. If we continually overeat, the possibilities of losing weight will be lost. Sometimes even when we know the results of our decisions are not going to be what we want, we may make them anyway out of weakness, impatience or because at the moment, we just don’t care. To live well and successfully takes thought and patience. We really can have the lives we want the most, but we must be willing to choose the things that will bring it to us.

People are creative and will surprise us from time to time. Someone may take a stand and get in our way because they do not agree with what we’re doing. We share the world with billions of others and although we have the right to choose the roads we’ll take, we also have to navigate around those who are going in the opposite direction. Distractions may pull us off course, and we may get turned around and confused, but if we keep our eyes on the goal, we will find our way forward. Every success is possible and with clarity and determination, no matter what gets in the way, we will win.

Today if you have a specific goal you want to achieve, think about the decisions you are making. Choose things that will pave the way forward and help you move closer to the prize. You are smarter and more powerful than you think you are. There isn’t anything you can’t do. Trust yourself and begin. Every single dream is possible, and you will make them yours.

Opening A Window

15 Apr

Life is long and filled with all kinds of experiences. We never know what will happen next or how things will develop. Sometimes we sail along with hardly a care or worry, and other times we may feel beset by trouble and turmoil. Things may go wrong because of decisions we’ve made or the decisions or actions of someone else. And sometimes crap just happens. When we’re struggling, if we get overwhelmed with stress and complications, and have been pushing hard for a long time, we may tire and begin to feel hopeless. It may seem like nothing we do changes anything and there is no end to the grief and despair. We may be convinced this is it, this is as good as it’s ever going to be and our lives are ruined. Once we lose hope in any chance of change, we may give up and surrender to our darkest fears and emotions. If we’re in a dark, stuffy room, it can feel like there is no air. But if we open a window, the cool air will stream through, and refresh and lift us. Hard times come to us all but no matter how bad the situation seems, there will always be hope. We can open a window in our hearts, trust in ourselves, and be sure that nothing will overcome us and hold us down forever. The situation may be dire, and we may be consumed with concern, but change is constant and cannot be held back. Tomorrow will come, the sun will rise and in time, however long that takes, things will improve. We will learn to adjust and overcome whatever we must to find peace again. Happiness and success will always be possible. We are wise and strong, and can do what is needed to get through and reach them both.

Running a marathon is hard. It takes lots of training, endurance and stamina. Sometimes it may seem we’re running a marathon in our lives. Lots of things are trying us and we may have to push hard against obstacles to make any headway. Just when we think we can see the finish line, things change and there are miles yet to go. Big, intense trials are hard to get through. They test our patience, our strength, and sometimes our sanity. But we are stronger and wiser than we think we are, and every answer we need is always there for us. By taking things one step at a time and keeping our eyes focused on the road ahead, we will prevail.

If we must face a difficult health situation, a sudden unexpected death of a loved one, an unforeseen loss of a job, or a dozen other difficult scenarios, we may be stunned and stopped in our tracks. At first we may feel lost about our next steps. What do we do now? How can we face this? It may seem there is no way to survive, but that will never be true. There will always be a way ahead. We can stop and stand still, and take time to determine how we want to proceed. We are powerful and highly capable, and nothing can keep us from success.

Today if you’re overwhelmed with worry and trouble, and it seems nothing you do moves you forward, remember all the times you’ve already overcome serious and difficult challenges. You are wise and powerful, and even if the road is long and hard, you will prevail. Nothing can keep you from moving ahead, and every destination is still there for you. Be confident and stand strong. Every dream is waiting, and you will reach them all.

Ants

2 Feb

Nobody gets a perfect life where nothing goes wrong and at some point, we will all face challenges and problems of some kind. Often they are mere annoyances we can resolve pretty quickly and move on. We’re intelligent and able to find answers when we need them and can usually navigate through whatever comes. But life is uncertain and nobody knows what will happen next. We may experience a heart pounding, crushing development that leaves us standing frozen and unsure. Ants can carry up to twenty times their body weight. If we had to do that, it would be close to 4,000 pounds. If we really worked at it, we might be able to get there, but most of us would never be able to carry that much. Physical weight is one thing, but emotional weight can feel just as heavy and when something terrible happens, can seem impossible to bear. We may not have to actually lift something tangible, but we may be completely overwhelmed by grief, confusion, and loss. The unexpected death of a loved one, being suddenly abandoned by a lover, the destruction of our personal finances, and endless other painful things may happen. We don’t have control over everything that will come, but we are capable of controlling what we do when they arrive. At first we may be paralyzed and unable to process the situation, or we may jump up and scream, and refuse to believe what’s happened. Nothing we do can change the facts, and after the initial shock and despair, we can begin to decide what to do next. We are far stronger than we think we are, and even if our worst dreams come, we will find our way through. If we need to stop and think, we can. If we need advice, we can ask for it. All the answers will be there for us when we’re ready to see them and start again. Life is complex and at times very difficult. But there isn’t anything that can hold us down forever, or keep us from moving forward. By trusting ourselves, and taking things one step at a time, we can get through anything and find relief. There will always be a way ahead, and with faith and determination, we will find it.

When we’re young and experience our first love, and things eventually end, we may believe we’ll never love anyone else again. We may think we’ll never get over losing the love of our lives. But time passes, we develop and mature, and everything changes. We find someone new, and move on. In the midst of heartbreak and disappointment, it may seem we’ll never get through. We may suffer greatly and believe the pain will be permanent. But life is all about change, and no matter what we’re going through today, tomorrow will be different. We can hold onto our courage, and trust ourselves that no matter what’s gone wrong, we will prevail.

Some people love drama and hold onto difficult situations, revisiting them again and again, milking them for every emotion. We can hold onto disappointment for as long as we like, but until we set it down and let it go, we will remain exactly where we are. There are endless destinations waiting for us and every success is possible, but we must be willing to leave the past behind and step forward to gain them. We deserve complete happiness, and when we’re ready to begin again, we can make it ours.

Today if you’re suffering through a painful disappointment and feel overwhelmed and unable to cope, trust yourself. You have already overcome many difficult situations and you will find your way through. You are far wiser and more capable than you realize, and nothing can hold you down forever. Stand strong, and be confident. The answers are there and you will find them. Every destination is waiting, and they will be yours.

Look Away

7 Dec

We share the planet with billions of other people.  They are all around us, coming and going, connecting or just passing by.  We love some of them, tolerate others and try to ignore the ones that make our lives difficult and complicated.  Some connections are easy and flow with little stress or anxiety, but others can be complex, fraught with intensity and hard to manage.  We may feel uncomfortable if we must deal with someone who is temperamental or bossy, or an old lover who broke our heart comes around, and we might do everything we can to avoid their attention.  We may try to blend into the background, keep our head down and look away, anything to prevent them from approaching us.  If that works, we may breathe a sigh of relief that we have averted any connection with them.  Nobody wants to deal with difficult people or situations, but there is no way to hide forever.  The very person we definitely don’t want to run into may show up unexpectedly, catch us off guard, and we may suddenly find ourselves face to face with them.  At that moment, it will be up to us how we handle what happens next.  We can shrink and try to disappear, which will never work, or we can stand firm and trust ourselves to find the best way through.  We already have every bit of courage and wisdom we need to navigate any difficult situation.  There isn’t anything we can’t manage and manage well. We are stronger and more powerful than we imagine.  Nothing is too hard for us to get through, and with patience and grace, we will find our way.

Every experience we have teaches us something.  When our experiences are good, we gain greater confidence and helpful knowledge that embellishes us and helps pave the road ahead.  But hard times come to all of us, and when we go through something painful and destructive, it may leave a lasting mark on us.  We may lose our trust in others, doubt ourselves, or be afraid of what will happen next.  There is no way to change the past, but there will always be a way to move forward.  We don’t have to hold onto what hurts us forever.  We can look at everything objectively and find ways to let go and move ahead.  Every destination is still there for us and every success is still possible.

Problems rarely solve themselves, and if we’ve left something unresolved because it was just too painful to look at it, it will remain.  Time cannot fix what’s been left unattended.  Trouble becomes heavier as it waits, reminders will arise, and eventually we’ll have to face the inevitable.  It doesn’t matter how hard the problem is or how tangled it has become.  We can find the answers we need, and when we’re ready, can do what is needed to settle the issue once and for all, and move on.

Today if you’ve been trying to avoid a situation or someone difficult, remember how strong and powerful you are.  You are perfectly capable of managing anything you must and there is nothing that can overcome you.  Be confident and stand firm.  Every blessing is already waiting for you, and with patience and determination, every success will be yours.

Carrying the Mountain

22 Oct

Everyone wants an easy life. We may dream about simply lying on a beach in the sun with no worries, and just floating through our days in blissful peace. It’s a nice dream, but for most of us, it’s far from reality. Most of the time we have responsibilities to take care of, details to manage, problems to solve and endless unexpected twists that take our time and attention. Sure we can take a vacation, and those days away from regular life are refreshing and fun, but eventually we must return. Nobody gets a perfect life. We all face trouble from time to time, and if we are going through something overwhelming and extremely difficult, we may feel the heavy weight of trial and despair. The road up the mountain may be hard, and we might stumble and fall. If we’re inundated me might feel like we have to carry everything in order to get through, but that’s not necessary. We never have to carry the mountain to get over it. Climbing it is enough. There is no need to let the issue, whatever it is, completely overcome us. If the journey is too steep, we can stop and take a rest. If the road is too tangled, we can look for another way around. Every problem has a solution, and by taking things one piece at a time, sometimes one breath at a time, we’ll find every answer needed to reach success. Nothing is so convoluted and difficult that we can’t figure it out. There is no rush. We can take our time and manage things as they arise. We are smart and capable, and will find every answer we need. The road ahead is already there. With patience and clarity we will find it, and step ahead, sure of success.

Nobody knows our situation better than we do. We are the only ones with the insight and inspiration we need to move forward. Others may offer suggestions or simply tell us what we should do. Their opinions may help, but they are only opinions based on what they can see, which is rarely the whole story. We know the facts and how we want to proceed, and can trust ourselves to choose our next steps, confident we will prevail.

If we’re facing something completely foreign and have no idea what to do, we can reach out for help. Everyone’s experiences are different, and chances are someone near us will have information that will assist us in finding our way forward. If nobody has anything to offer, we can search for whatever facts we need to move us forward. All the answers will be there for us, and nothing can keep us from success. The destination is waiting, and we will reach it.

Today if you feel like you’re carrying a mountain of trouble, set it down. Look at everything objectively and choose your next step forward. This is not too difficult for you to manage. Trust yourself and be confident. You are amazing and powerful, and nothing can keep you from success.
