Forever Wrong

24 Jun

Life is full of challenges and complications. Although we may feel confident about the roads we’re choosing, we share the world with lots of other people and they may have an impact on our decisions and outcomes. Everyone tries hard to live well and make good choices, but sometimes we don’t get all the facts we need, or may be influenced by someone else to choose something that goes wrong. When we make a bad decision, even if others were involved, we might find ourselves standing alone taking the blame. It’s uncomfortable to discover we got bad advice and took a wrong turn, but that doesn’t mean we are destined to be forever wrong. Everyone makes mistakes. Doing what doesn’t work teaches us what does. There isn’t a handbook for life that tells us to watch out for certain people or be extra cautious about upcoming decisions. We take things as they come and do the best we can. We’ll never get everything right every time, but if we get as many facts as possible beforehand, and take the time to see everything clearly, we have a better shot at success. Mistakes happen and although they may be unpleasant, they cannot doom us to a life of endless misery and woe. We are intelligent and capable, and no matter what’s happened we can find our way forward to success. A wrong turn doesn’t end the journey. The road will still be there and we can always find a way around any complication that arises. Every answer we need will be available and we will find them all. We learn what works by trial and error. Sometimes we’ll get everything right from the beginning. Other times we may falter and stumble, but nothing can hold us down forever, and we can get back up and try again. Success will be there for us even if we take the long way around. There is greatness in us, and sufficient wisdom and intelligence to do anything and go anywhere. By trusting ourselves and stepping forward with confidence, we will find our way forward, and reach success.

Some people are great about giving advice. They may instruct us and tell us how we should proceed, even if they’ve never traveled the road before. It’s easy to advise someone else when your neck isn’t on the line. If things go wrong, they won’t be anywhere near the disaster and can deny their involvement. It’s good to seek advice if we need help, but after everyone has given their opinion, we can trust ourselves to choose what will work best, and move ahead according to our own personal inspiration.

We already know what we want to do. The roads we travel are ours to choose, and others may disagree and try to influence us to follow them instead of taking our own path. Our lives belong to us and nobody knows us better than we know ourselves. We know where we want to go, and have everything we need to reach any destination we desire. Following someone else will never take us where we want to go. We can be confident we know what we want, and move toward our goals with clarity, sure of success.

Today if you’ve made a big mistake and feel like you’ll never be right again, remember all the times you’ve succeeded already. You are amazing and capable, and have everything you need to do anything you want. Trust yourself and be confident. The world is full of opportunities for success, and you will make them yours.

Perception and Reality

17 Jun

Life is complicated, and there may be times when our situation suddenly changes and what was possible is no longer available. Maybe we have an unexpected health issue that requires restrictions and commitments that are difficult, or a relationship that has changed that impacts us, or a thousand other things. Nobody gets a paved road to every destination, and there will be times when the going gets rough. Once we understand the situation, we may be confident we can handle it, but as each day passes, and we begin to tire, we may start to wonder if we can keep going. It’s very hard to stay focused and positive on a long, long difficult journey. If we must adapt to a situation that requires us to accept a new normal, we may feel overwhelmed and dispirited. Change isn’t easy but a lot of how we feel depends on our perception. If all we see are the things we can’t do, or the things we must alter, we may get overwhelmed. But we can look at the situation another way. No matter what’s happening, there will still be many things we can do and do well. We can find comfort once we identify what we can accomplish, even with restrictions we must acknowledge. If we’re stuck in the same location and can’t move, we can find new ways to meet others and get involved in new projects. If we can no longer participate in physical activities we love, we can find ways to modify the activity so it works for us. Life is full of possibilities, and we are the only ones who can hold us down and keep us from progressing. Things won’t always be easy, but there will always be a way to move forward. We are wiser and more capable than we think we are, and nothing can keep us from success.

Relationships are important, and when we love someone, we want to be there for them and support them. If they have an issue that needs a lot of attention and effort, and we offer our help, our lives will be impacted as we dedicate the time they need. If the situation is on-going and long lasting, we may begin to struggle with the sacrifice. It isn’t selfish to step away to take time for ourselves and recharge. Those we love are important, but we must take care of ourselves first. We can give and still make sure our personal needs are met.

If we’re facing something that requires us to make a lot of changes moving forward, we may feel unsure and overwhelmed. It’s hard to find comfort when everything we’re used to disappears, and we must continue on a foreign road with no end in sight. But we are strong and can manage anything that comes. There will always be a way around any complication, and every answer is there. We can be open to all the possibilities, and with careful thought and confidence, be sure we will prevail.

Today if the road ahead has changed, and you must modify your plans moving forward, look at all the possibilities available. There will still be a way to achieve your goals. Trust yourself and step forward with clarity and confidence. Nothing can hold you down indefinitely. Every success is still possible, and you will make them yours.

Digging In

3 Jun

Everyday we face new challenges and make choices about how we’ll proceed. Life is filled with all kinds of experiences, and since we don’t live on a deserted island, there will be others around who may influence us one way or another. We may get all kinds of advice and suggestions, which may be helpful or might be misleading. If someone near us is very powerful and strong willed, they may demand that we follow their suggestions for moving forward. Some people are very smart and confident and may be sure they are steering us in the best direction, and maybe they’re right. Of course, we can listen to any advice we’re given, but nobody knows us better than we know ourselves. Nobody will have our personal insight regarding what we want and how we want to proceed. Taking someone else’s suggestion might be great, or it might not. There will be no way to find out unless we implement whatever they have suggested and try it out. If we follow someone else’s lead, and things go well, terrific. If everything goes bust and we end up in a terrible situation, we may be tempted to blame them for our demise, but we own every decision we make. We choose the roads we’ll travel. We own them whether they bring us happiness or misery. Everyone has their own ideas about life, and each is unique and individual. We know what we want and have everything we need to go anywhere and do anything. We can trust ourselves to choose the best road ahead and find our way to success. If we need more information, we can find it and then step forward on our own path. Others may disagree and criticize our choice, but the choice is ours to make. We can dig in and stand firm on what we want to do and how we will proceed. There is enough courage and wisdom inside us to guide us anywhere we want to go. Success is always there, and we will reach it.

Nobody knows everything. We can only get information that’s available at any moment in time and sometimes we may take a wrong turn because there were facts we were unaware of. We can only see what’s just ahead and there may be twists and turns in the future that hold us back or stop us in our tracks. If the road gets tangled, and we can’t push forward, we can choose another route. There are endless roads to every destination, and with persistence and patience, we will prevail.

Someone may think they know us better than we know ourselves, and if they aren’t in agreement with our plans, may try to dissuade us or obstruct the way forward. They may know us well, but nobody can possibly know what we want better than we do. The road ahead may be difficult, but we are strong. It may be complex, but we are intelligent. Nothing can keep us from any goal we desire, and we will succeed.

Today if you’re getting lots of advice regarding a specific goal, trust yourself. Decide how you want to proceed, and step forward. You are wiser and more powerful than you imagine, and every destination is there for you. Success is waiting, and with focus and clarity, nothing will keep you from it. Every dream is possible, and you will prevail.

Reckoning

2 Jun

We make millions of decisions as we go through our lives. Everyone wants to be happy and nobody tries to make a bad choice on purpose that will increase their suffering. We try to make good decisions at every turn and most of the time we’re successful. But we may face a situation where what we’ve chosen blows up in our faces, and we crash and burn. Maybe we didn’t get all the facts beforehand, maybe we were in a rush or a thousand other factors came into play. If the choice is grievous, when it hits the fan, we may try to hide or pretend we don’t know anything about what’s happening. That might work for a time, but nothing can stay hidden forever, and eventually our part will be found out. We’re all accountable for everything we do – the good and the bad. When the reckoning comes, we may be sorely sad for the choice we made, and may suffer greatly due to ramifications of what’s occurred. If we generally manage our lives well and make sensible, balanced choices, and this is an unusual screwup, we’ll likely be able to recovery and restore what has been lost. However, if we’re continually irresponsible and repeat seriously bad judgement again an again, chances are we’ll lose the trust of those around us. It’s hard to rely on someone who constantly makes bad decisions that tangle up our lives. We’re all capable of choosing well, but good choices don’t just happen because we want them. We must actively do what is needed to get the facts and think about what we’re doing before we jump. By looking for the information we need and taking our time to review all the possible options, we have a better chance of choosing well. Our lives are a reflection of every choice we make, and each success is possible if we’re willing to do what is necessary to make it ours.

Some people believe it’s easier to ask for forgiveness after the fact than for permission before we act. Leaving others in the dark only to surprise them with some unexpected problem is a recipe for disaster. By including everyone involved before we choose, we can get their opinions and good advice to help ensure we’re headed in the right direction.

Nobody is perfect and it’s likely that we’ll all make a bad choice at some point. When the situation begins to deteriorate and we realize we’re headed for trouble, we can be honest about our part in what’s happened and begin the process of changing direction. If we need advice, we can ask for it. Every situation can be amended and with patience and persistence, we can correct our course, and move forward with renewed confidence.

Today if you’ve made a bad choice and created a problem that is complex and difficult, trust yourself. You are not defined by a mistake. Look at everything objectively and decide how you want to proceed. There is a solution to every problem, and you will find the answers you need. Be calm and confident. The road ahead is still there for you and you will reach success.

Just Good Enough

10 May

When we want something badly, we may do whatever it takes to get it. We might spend all the money we have, call in every favor and push ourselves to the limit. Strong desires can trigger extreme measures, and if after all we’ve done, we succeed, we may feel it was all worth it. But those situations are few and far between. Most of the time, the things we desire won’t require such herculean efforts. When things are easily accessible, we might put them off. If we’re happy where we are and achieving them will require us to change something or they are inconvenient, we may set them aside. After all, everything is going okay, why test the waters to see what’s possible? We may decide we don’t need excellence and can be happy with just good enough. It’s like getting a C in class. It’s a passing grade that probably won’t take a lot of effort, and if we’re willing to settle, it’ll be fine. Settling for what’s easy will never make our dreams come true. A mediocre life will never take us anywhere we really want to go. We can coast through and just follow along, but if we want the lives we dream of, and reach every destination that captures our interest, we must be willing to do more. We are capable of achieving far more than we think we can, and every single dream is possible. If we step forward and open new doors, we may accomplish things we never thought we could. We’ll never know how far we can go if we stay in the same place. The world is huge, and there are unlimited options waiting for us. We can do anything and go anywhere. We just have to decide what we want, and then do what is needed to make it ours. Life is filled with opportunities. Our lives can be filled with every desired goal and as we achieve them, we’ll find complete and fulfilling happiness.

Routines are comfortable. As we repeat the same behaviors, we pretty much know what to expect and how things will go. It’s like walking on a treadmill. Our lives are advancing but the scenery never changes. Being busy doesn’t mean we’re moving forward. Our lives are ours to design and if we want to stay in the same place we can, but it’s impossible to learn anything new by doing the same things over and over again. We can trust ourselves to step onto a new path and begin a new journey. As we move ahead, we’ll find great reward and refreshment by opening new doors.

Every experience we have changes us in some way. We learn as we go, and each time we overcome an obstacle we get stronger and wiser. New destinations can be intimidating, and we may be hesitant to step in a new direction. But we are strong and capable, and there isn’t anything we can’t manage. There is no tangle we can’t unravel, and with determination and clarity, we can go anywhere and do anything. When we’re ready, we can create the lives we dream about.

Today, if you’ve been staying in the same lane doing the same things, but are ready to try something new, make a plan and take the first step forward. The world is filled with opportunities and destinations just waiting for you. Be confident and trust yourself. Every dream is possible, and you will make them yours.
