Big Red Line

31 Mar

Everyone has their own ideas about how life should go and what we should do. We all have our own personal preferences about everything in our lives. We like some things over others, and pattern our lives in ways that enable us to do what we prefer. There are endless expressions and unlimited varieties all around us. When we want something, we can clearly define what it is, what it looks like, how we’ll get it and thousands of other parameters. If we’re looking for a companion, we can define the traits we like the most and try to find someone who fits them but it’s important not to draw the lines too severely. We can narrow the field all we like, but the more lines we draw and parameters we set, the smaller the group of possibilities will be. If we say we will only date people who are tall and have red hair, and refuse to even consider anyone else, we will eliminate a lot of other potential candidates. If we further add they must work in a specific field, make a defined amount of money, drive a certain type of car, and dress in ways we find attractive, we may specify ourselves right out of success. It’s good to know what we want, but if we keep our options open and allow a wide scope, we have a better chance at finding what we want. Sometimes the perfect situation is completely different than we imagined it would be. By keeping our minds open to all possibilities, we can achieve anything we desire. Every success is possible in every arena of our lives. We have what we need to find them, and with clarity and patience, we will reach them all.

When we’re facing a big decision and look at all the options before us, we may quickly discard some because we don’t like them, or they look too hard to manage. The first look at something can never tell us all the facts. New and uncharted roads may seem daunting at first, but if we take one step closer, and then another, we may find what looked impossible at first is within reach. Throwing ideas away before we find out what they have to offer may keep us from the best roads ahead. We are intelligent and highly capable. There isn’t anything we can’t understand and manage.

The past can never predict the future. If we’ve had a bad experience with something we might avoid anything that looks like it or reminds us of it as we move forward. Life isn’t a record that repeats over and over again. We need not limit anything because of a previous loss. One failure cannot keep us from success. It doesn’t matter what happened before, everything is still possible. Each day brings new opportunities for success, and with determination and focus, we can make them ours.

Today if you’ve been drawing a big red line around things you will not do, think about expanding your vision. You are incredibly capable and powerful, and nothing is too difficult or complex for you to understand. Be open to new ideas, and courageously step forward. The world is full of possibilities and everything is on the table. Every success is there for you. Keep your eyes open and they will all be yours.

Dropping It

27 Jul

There are endless things we can accomplish in our lives, and success is always a possibility. Some things are easy, take little time to achieve, and we sail right through to the end with little inconvenience. Other things, not so much. We may have a big challenge that requires lots of planning, extensive time, and endless work to get to success. It may take a long time, and there may be many complications, snags, unexpected developments and endless issues as we move ahead. Each step we take, and each problem we solve moves us closer to the goal, but when that movement is minuscule, and hardly noticeable, and we’ve been trying for a long time, we might decide we’ve had enough. We might choose to drop the ball, and walk away. We can do anything we like, but dropping the ball will only help us lose the game. It will never take us to the prize. Everyone has their own limits, and if we’re tired of the struggle, and frustrated with how difficult it’s been to move the needle even a little, we might give up. It’s hard to keep pushing forward if we feel we’ll never prevail. We’re in control of our lives and can decide at any time how we want to proceed. We can continue forward, or let the goal go and move onto something else. But we cannot achieve any goal by dropping the ball and walking away. If it’s important to us, we have everything we need to find our way to success. It may take more time than we want, and might be harder than we thought at the beginning, but we are strong and capable, and if we want to win, we will. Our lives are ours to design. We can do anything and go anywhere, and nothing is out of reach.

Time is always an issue when we’re trying to accomplish something. Nobody has unlimited time, and there are responsibilities to take care of, jobs to accomplish, tasks that need our attention, and endless interruptions. When we’re trying to reach our personal goals in the midst of all the other things we have to do, it can be hard to get to them. If the goal is important to us, we can prioritize our lives in ways that give us the opportunity to push forward. We’re in control of everything we do, can focus on what’s most important, and move forward toward success.

It’s impossible to be successful if we’re half in on the deal. If we only kinda want to accomplish the goal, we’ll only be kinda successful. If we really want to move forward, we must be committed. That means we must make a plan and then stick to it. Complications will undoubtedly arise, things may get in the way, and we might get off track a time or two. But if we’re intent on reaching the goal, nothing can keep us from it. Everything we want to do is possible. Every destination is within reach. We need only decide what we want, then step forward and claim it.

Today if you’ve been on the same road toward a destination for a long time, and are tired of the struggle, decide what you want the most. If the goal is still important, stay the course and reach it. If you no longer want to continue, choose how you want to proceed. You can have the life you dream of if you’re willing to do the work. Pick the ball back up and step forward. Every success is there for you, and you will reach it.

Steering the Ship

28 Jan

Sometimes life takes us to places we don’t want to go.  When we’re struggling we may question how we ended up here.  How did we get to this place that doesn’t fit or move us forward?  We can’t read the future and it’s not always easy to see where a path will take us.  It takes time to consider all possible eventualities but if we don’t rush and think carefully before choosing we’ll have a better chance of ending up where we want to go.  Odds are no matter where we are it’s exactly where we were headed.  Every road has a destination and will take us there every time.  But it’s not the end of the journey.  If we’re unhappy we can move on to someplace that feels better and fits us more perfectly.  We’re always in control of our lives and can go anywhere we want but we have to decide where that is and then do what is necessary to get there.  We can design our lives any way we like but we must take control.  A ship at sea without a rudder and someone turning the wheel to direct it forward will simply flow wherever the water takes it.  Our lives are the same way.  If we don’t control our decisions and choose our paths, life will choose them for us.  We can decide what we want and then steer our ship in the direction we want to go.  There isn’t anything we can’t do and every destination is available but we must take control and move forward toward success.  It’s all up to us.  The world will do what it will and we can follow along but taking charge of what we’re doing will bring us satisfaction and fulfillment.  We know what we want.  With persistence and determination we can achieve anything and reach any shore we desire.

There are always all kinds of unknown variables that may come into play in every decision we make.  Because we never know what’s around the next corner or who will enter the picture, learning to be flexible is an asset that will help us succeed.  There are many ways to accomplish any task.  We can keep our eyes focused forward, make changes as needed, and get to the goal.  We have everything we need to reach any destination.  We can bend when we need to and find our way.

Some people are very self-directed and forceful.  They place great value on their ideas and may be very convincing.  We can follow anyone at any time and simply go wherever they’re headed.  It’s easy to acquiesce and do what we’re told but nobody knows us better than we know ourselves.  What’s best for one doesn’t mean it’s best for all.  Our personal choices are valuable and worthwhile and we can have any kind of life we choose.  We can take our own roads and reach the places we want the most.  Our lives belong to us and we can make our dreams come true.

Today if you’ve been letting others steer your ship and just following along, remember how valuable you are.  You can do anything you want.  Decide where you want to go and step forward.  Be confident and trust yourself.  You have everything you need to prevail and nothing is out of reach.  All your dreams are possible and with determination you will make them come true.

Try After Try

26 Jan

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” Thomas A. Edison

When we’re trying to find our way through something complicated, sometimes the first road we choose doesn’t take us to resolution. If the situation is very complex and there are others involved, we may try several options before we find our way through. Day after day if what we thought would take us to the answer doesn’t work, we must try again. Try after try can wear on our patience when nothing changes and we may begin to believe we are stuck forever someplace we don’t want to be. It’s like having our tires stuck in the mud, spinning and spinning trying to break free but going nowhere. Our patience may be tested, our reasoning may be challenged and we may become exhausted trying to find our way. If we’ve tried and tried and haven’t found success, sometimes we may need to step back for a moment to regain our perspective. Being in the middle of a problem may influence our vision and make it hard to see all the options available. Stepping back from the issue, clearing our minds and looking at it objectively may open new ideas and help us see a way forward we hadn’t considered. Problems come and go and we can find our way through anything. Stopping and stepping away from the fray for a moment may open doors we didn’t see before and help us solve whatever has held us captive.

Feeling overwhelmed won’t help us find answers. If we believe the problem is too big to solve and doubt we will ever find answers we may get stuck. If we don’t think we can solve the issue, or lack the confidence to continue when things go wrong, we will fail. We can give up at any time and refuse to continue but if we do, we will never find success. The willingness to try one more time, no matter how many times we’ve tried before, will open the way forward. Although it may take time, there are no answers too difficult for us to find. We can solve any problem if we keep trying until we find our way. There is nothing too difficult or too complex for us to figure out. We have what we need to succeed as long as we keep trying.

There may be others around us who may encourage us to give up. They may tell us it’s too hard or it’s not worth the trouble. We may certainly take their advice and quit but if we do we guarantee the goal we are seeking will not be met. If we decide we no longer want to proceed, we may stop. But if what we’ve been trying to accomplish is important to us and we really want to achieve it, we may continue forward. Success is always possible and we can have it. We can try one more time, and we will find our way.

Today if you’ve tried and tried to make something work and you’re still struggling, decide if the goal is still important to you. If it is, step back to see things objectively, and then try again. You are worth every success you are seeking. Try one more time. The doors will open and you will find your way.

Disappointment and Perseverance

2 Jan

“I long so much to make beautiful things. But beautiful things require effort—and disappointment and perseverance.” Vincent van Gogh

We have a lot of challenges in our lives and many things we want to accomplish. We can strive for any goal we want to attain but often the road to success isn’t smooth. There may be points where we stumble or get lost, there may be obstacles in our path, and it can be disappointing when we feel like we’re working hard but not getting any closer. Sometimes it may seem that no matter how much we plan or how carefully we proceed we run into something that blocks our way forward. As time passes we may get frustrated feeling we should have conquered the challenge by now and yet we are still trying. It takes continual effort to reach any destination and if we want to succeed we must persevere when things go wrong. We have to figure out the problems that block our path, and find a way to navigate around the obstacles in our way. We may get tired and even think of letting go of the goal but if we want to achieve anything we must be willing to do what it takes to get there. Everything we desire requires effort and often things don’t go as easily as we hope they will. But there isn’t anything we can’t overcome and we are capable of finding success. There may be disappointment but we can manage that and persevere through it to the other side. We can decide to continue forward even when the road gets rough.

We are complex and capable of accomplishing many difficult things in our lives if we determine to stay the course until we complete the journey. If we are overcome with disappointment, we may feel overwhelmed and unsure we can go on. At times like those, we may set the goal aside for a while and return to it later when our lives are in a different place. There isn’t any goal we can’t achieve but sometimes timing is everything. If something isn’t working now, we can proceed with other things for a while and try again later. As our lives change and our situations adjust we may be in a better position to begin again.

When we’ve been working toward a goal for a long time and are struggling, we may believe we will never win. We may think it’s just not in the cards for us and let it go. We can always re-direct our course but instead of giving up sometimes all we need to do is change direction. We may only need to adjust our path a little to find success. Life is rarely an “all or nothing” situation. Generally, there are lots of variations and if what we’ve been doing isn’t working, we can modify and change our focus a little to find success. There really isn’t anything we can’t do.

Today if you’ve been working hard toward a goal you want to achieve and still haven’t moved forward, step back and rethink the situation. Think about how you might adjust your path forward to find success. You will reach your goal and find your way. You have everything you need to be successful and there is no disappointment you can’t overcome.
