Best Friend

29 Apr

Everyone has their own ideas about how things should go and what they should do. Most of us want to be successful completing what’s important to us and try to move forward a little every day toward the destinations we desire. Life is complicated and sometimes our progress doesn’t exactly go the way we hope it will. Problems arise, we make decisions that don’t always work out and it seems we have to continually modify and adjust to push through. We might get to a point where we think we should be further down the road than we are or that somehow, we should be doing better in some way. We may set our personal standards very high and if we don’t meet them, become critical of our performance. There is always room for improvement no matter what we’re doing, and we can always do a little more, but we can honor how far we’ve come and what we’ve already accomplished. Berating ourselves for not getting to the goal fast enough, or doing everything perfectly isn’t helpful. We aren’t perfect – nobody is. We learn with each step we take, and as long as we keep stepping forward, we’re winning. It’s fine to have high standards and want to do our best, but we only have control over our own decisions, and things we know nothing about may derail us. We can learn to accept complications and the delays they may cause without tearing ourselves down for not getting to the goal fast enough. We know what we want and have everything we need to get it. We can do anything we like, but we can’t do it all today. Trusting ourselves as we push through, and being patient when there are detours and setbacks will give us the confidence we need to succeed.

If our best friend comes to us upset because they didn’t reach a goal as planned, instead of ridiculing them for not getting it done, we probably would offer them support and kindness. Because we care for them, we may encourage them not to get discouraged, and help them start again. However, we are often harder on ourselves in the same situations. We expect more of ourselves than we expect of others, and that can work against us. Learning to allow the same patience and support we give to others for our own individual struggles will bring us great relief and encouragement. There isn’t anything we can’t accomplish. We can trust that no matter what comes, or what goes wrong, we’ll find our way forward.

Perfection may be our goal, but it’s not likely to be our achievement. There is no way to know everything, and there are endless situations that may enter our lives and disrupt everything we have going on. Learning to bend when things go wrong, and keep our eyes on the goal, even when the road turns, will help us reach success. We are stronger and wiser than we think we are, and nothing can keep us from our goals.

Today if you’re disappointed in yourself because you haven’t gotten as far as you think you should, stop and look at how far you’ve already come. You are amazing and nothing is beyond your reach. You know what you want, and each step takes you closer to the goal. Be confident and continue forward. Every success is there for you and you will prevail.

Heavy Load

26 Mar

The things we must face change every day. There can be unexpected developments that suddenly alter the road ahead, and make it necessary for us to change our plans. When things don’t work out the way we thought they would, or something serious goes wrong, there may suddenly be more to carry than we planned on. Problems arise, details get in the way, and complications creep in that make the way forward, if not impossible, certainly more difficult than we want. We already have responsibilities and things we must attend to, and when there’s a change in the road ahead, it may make getting them done more difficult. Let’s say there’s a huge field covered with rocks and it’s our job to pick them all up and move them. All we have is a big bag to carry them in and each rock we pick up and add makes the load heavier. After a while, the bag may become too heavy to carry and we have to drag it behind us, until in the end, we can’t move. When lots of things go wrong and we have to navigate through, it’s like picking up rocks along the way and trying to manage them all. If we can’t solve the problems as they arise, we add them to the bag, until we get to a point where we can’t handle any more. But we never have to carry a load that’s too heavy for us. We don’t have to solve everything right away. We can carefully evaluate what we can do, and if we can’t resolve an issue right now, instead of carrying it along with us, we can set it aside for later. When our situation clears, we can go back to the issues waiting for us and begin to unravel them, one at a time. We can decide what’s most important, and let the others things wait. With patience and wisdom, we will make the best decisions moving forward, and reach the goals we most desire.

Lots of people have lots of opinions about the way things should go. They may tell us we should be able to handle more than we’re managing, or that we need to solve every problem as soon as it appears. They are entitled to their opinions, and even if they are important to them, it doesn’t mean they must be important to us. We don’t need agreement or permission to set our own course. We have all the intelligence and inspiration we need to find the way forward, and reach any destination.

There may be times when we must deal with a lot of complicated, difficult pieces to a hard situation. When there’s a lot going on it can be challenging to find the answers we need. If we step away from the fray and take some time to see the situation objectively, our vision will clear and we will see the road ahead. We are completely capable of handling anything that comes to us. There isn’t anything that can hold us back indefinitely. We can trust ourselves to find all the answers we need, and manage every situation competently, and move forward toward success.

Today if you’re dealing with a lot of complex and difficult issues and you’re confused and concerned about finding your way, step back and look at the situation openly. All the answers you need are already there for you. Let your vision clear and the road ahead will arise. You are incredible and strong, and will always find your way. Nothing is out of reach, and you will succeed.

Facing Fear

24 Mar

Every day is a new beginning and we never know what will happen. We have wonderful, amazing days, some boring times, and a lot of average and predictable moments. Sometimes we might face a very difficult, frightening and unsettling situation. No matter where we are or what we’re doing, everything can change in an instant. When we’re up against a big challenge that tests our stamina and courage, and we aren’t sure what to do, we may feel overwhelmed, and for a moment, may be scared out of our minds. If we’re so unsettled that we can’t think, we can stop and let everything sink in until we begin to comprehend what’s going on and start to form our next steps. Fear is a natural response to threatening or alarming situations. It may come over us quickly but it doesn’t mean we’re weak or incapable. When our fight or flight reflex has been triggered, our survival instincts are on high alert. We can run and cower, and try to hide, but the most effective response to fear is to face it openly and see everything clearly. The situation may be worse than we imagine, or it might be more workable than we first thought. By facing it head on we can clearly look at the whole picture and begin to formulate a plan. There is great power to be gained by standing firm and looking straight into the abyss. We have more courage and stamina than we think we have, and there isn’t anything that can overcome us. By calmly and bravely looking at everything, we will see the way forward, and find our footing. The world is full of surprises and there may be times we are taken off our guard. But we are powerful and wise, and nothing, absolutely nothing, can stop us.

When we go through routine days, we may begin to believe our lives are predictable, and in some ways they may be. We mostly know where we’re going, and may be sure of what will occur along the way. However, we only have control over our own personal decisions, and there are many others making choices we may know nothing about that cause ripples in the water and knock us off course. Unforeseen things may happen, we may be shocked by a sudden turn, and the road we were on may completely disappear. We are strong and can modify our direction when things change. We can find our way forward, no matter what comes.

The world is a big place and sometimes what happens in lands far away may impact our personal lives. Diseases travel around the globe, and unexpected problems arise. We are flexible and wise enough to figure out what to do in any situation. We can be proactive and care for ourselves, and do what is needed to make sure we’re safe. Nothing stays the same forever, and no matter what complications come, in time they will modify and we’ll be able to continue ahead. We already have everything we need to succeed, and with patience and wisdom, will find our way.

Today if you’re facing a very difficult situation and you’re afraid you won’t survive, trust yourself. Look at everything openly and stand strong. You are a great asset to the world and there isn’t anything you can’t do. Be confident and be sure. You are amazing, and nothing will keep you from success.

Breaking Apart

13 Mar

Lots of things go right in our lives every single day. Sometimes everything sails along without a care, and we’re relaxed and happy. Change is always constant and nothing can remain the same forever, and eventually something will modify our plans, and our lives may be turned toward difficulty or pain. Bad experiences will come our way whether we’re ready for them or not. Life is filled with all kinds of undefined complications, and when they hit us out of the blue, we may feel lost and broken for a time. Everything we thought we could count on may break apart, and we may be left standing alone, bereft and uncertain. It may feel our world has dissolved in front of us and we have no idea how to continue on. Bad things may happen, we may be devastated, and the road ahead may be fuzzy and unclear. It’s not easy to find our footing when it feels like the rug has been pulled out from under us and we’re standing in mid-air, struggling to touch the ground. Even in our most difficult times, we always have what we need to survive. We have incredible reserves of courage and stamina inside ourselves, and when we need them, can reach deep and claim them. There will never be a time when things get so bad that we’ll crumble and disappear. We are stronger than we imagine, and nothing, absolutely nothing can hold us down. Every road will always be there for us, and with determination and strength, we will find our way. Nothing can keep us from our dreams, and no matter what comes, we will succeed.

A bad personal breakup can be devastating. If our feelings for the one leaving us are deep and intimate, we may struggle to breathe when they walk away. The pain may be intense and for a moment, we may think we can’t survive. But as each day passes, we get stronger, and in time, we recover. How long that takes depends on a lot of variables, but no matter if it’s one week, one month, or a whole year, we will get through. We can take things one step at a time, and build on each success until we feel whole and complete once again.

When everything changes all at once we may need time to process what’s happened and figure out what to do next. We can’t do everything at the same time. If we step back, and take a breath, we can let our minds rest for moment. There will always be many possible options for the way forward, and we can look at them all and decide which is best. We can’t control what will come to us, but we always have control over ourselves. We know what we want and with patience, and persistence, we will find our way.

Today if your world has tilted and everything has broken apart, take the time you need to see everything clearly. Life is uncertain, but you are strong and nothing can hold you in place. Consider every possible road ahead, and choose your next steps. You are incredible and strong, and every dream is still there for you. Have faith. You will prevail.

Fearless

6 Mar

Life is unpredictable and we never know what will happen next. Things go right, and things go wrong. Sometimes we’re surprised by a turn of events, and when they turn in ways that are difficult or daunting, we may be concerned or fearful we cannot face them. A lot can go wrong when we least expect it and if the rug is quickly pulled out from under us, we may be stunned and for a moment be unable to move. Fear is a natural emotion we all experience from time to time. Even the most courageous and brave among us is not immune. Our innate fight or flight reflex will be triggered at some point, and we may be rattled. When we’re unsure and worried, when the future is uncertain, and we don’t know what to do next, fear often enters the equation. It can paralyze us and make it impossible to think. But we are intelligent and have all the wisdom we need to figure out any problem or complication. It doesn’t matter if everything goes wrong, it doesn’t matter if the road we were on has disappeared, or if what’s happened is beyond what we can process right now. There will always be options before us and every answer we need will be there. We can take the time necessary to consider everything, decide on our next steps and confidently choose what we will do. Nobody is fearless, but when fear comes, we need not let it overcome us. We are more powerful than we think we are, and nothing can hold us down indefinitely. The future is always unknown, but nothing will happen we can’t manage. Every goal will still be there for us, even if we have to reconfigure how we’ll reach it. Life may throw us for a loop, but we are flexible and smart, and can bend to adjust. The destinations we desire are still there, and with confidence and assurance, we will reach them.

We’re always in control of ourselves and our personal lives, but we have no control over anything else. Illness, calamity, accidents, unforeseen roadblocks, and endless other complications will come. Even if we sequestered ourselves and tried to hide from the world, there would still be risk of some sort that things will go wrong. Nothing is ever certain and change is constant. But we are strong and capable, and can trust ourselves to manage whatever we must, and find our way through.

There is no way to know what tomorrow will bring. Even if we try to prepare, everything may change and all our preparations may be for naught. Our plans may fail, others may let us down, and at times it may feel the whole world is conspiring against us. It will never be true that there is no way out. There will always be another door and another road ahead. We can be sure of our ability to find the answers we need, and move forward with determination and confidence. We already have everything we need to accomplish our goals, and find complete happiness.

Today if your world has been rattled and you’re afraid you won’t succeed, trust yourself. You are smarter and more capable than you think. There isn’t anything you can’t do. Be sure of yourself, and step forward with confidence. Everything is possible, and nothing can keep you from success.
