Whispers

9 Mar

Finding direction in our lives is sometimes easy and we feel confident we’re going exactly where we want to go and are on the right road to get there. Other times as we move along we may experience some doubt. Even if everything seems to be exactly the way it should be we may hear a little whisper in the back of our minds that something needs to change. There may be a niggling suspicion that things aren’t exactly as they seem. If we’re busy and involved, we may ignore it and if the problem is small it may not matter. But often when we have a feeling that things aren’t right, there is something we need to look at. When we get quiet whispers that come again and again it’s wise to pay attention to them. We can’t know everything but we are highly perceptive. We may be subconsciously aware of something that doesn’t fit and the doubts that creep in may be a sign we need to look more carefully. If we’re doing something we really want to do, we may forge ahead no matter what comes to mind. But if there is a quiet, small voice of caution that whispers again and again, it’s wise to listen. We can stop and really look at the situation objectively and we may see something differently and choose to change our course. Sometimes things are exactly as they seem, but other times we may misunderstand what’s really happening. Listening to our inner voices, and heeding whispers of caution will help us more carefully and effectively navigate our way forward. We can be wise and careful and still accomplish everything we want to do.

We know what we want to do and we know how we want to do it. We are in control of our lives and we can decide how we manage it and what we will do. But we aren’t the only people who have influence over what happens to us. We cannot predict the decisions or actions of others and sometimes their plans will be in direct conflict with ours. If we don’t know what’s coming, we can’t possibly prepare. We can be confident and still exercise caution. We can move ahead with our eyes not only focused on the goal but those around us as well.

The world would be easier to navigate if everyone was honest and clearly stated what they were going to do and followed through on every promise. But that is not how things are. Everyone makes choices and some people will lie to us, some will promise things they have no intention of doing, and some will mislead us to achieve their personal goals. If we are careful and watchful we will have a better chance of succeeding no matter what others do. If we listen to any warnings or doubts and address them carefully we will be more aware and able to proceed more effectively. We can do anything and we can be wise. Listening to the whispers that may come will help us succeed.

Today if you have a feeling that things aren’t exactly as you think they are, step back and evaluate the entire situation openly and honestly. If there are problems, address them and correct your course going forward. You have everything you need to be successful. Listen carefully and pay attention and you’ll find the right way forward.

One Particle

23 Feb

When trials and sorrow come into our lives and we feel overcome at what we must face, it may be hard to see the other side of the trouble. We may mourn and feel heartbroken if something serious has gone wrong, and struggle to find our way through. Difficulties come to us all and nobody has a life without hardship. If our troubles are extreme or life changing, or if the stress of trying to find answers is intense, we may feel we can’t do it. We may fall down in sadness or worry unsure of how to get up again. A particle is a tiny thing. It’s microscopic but isn’t without strength. All particles, despite their minute size, have energy and momentum. They can move and exert force. In our darkest moments, if we have only a particle of faith that we can endure and overcome, it will be enough to see us through. One particle, one tiny bit of hope, one single piece of determination in the midst of even overwhelming trial is enough to help us find our way. No matter what has happened or what we are facing, we will always have at least one particle of faith left to carry us. We can focus on that, we can determine to hang onto it and take the first step forward. Terrible trials may come to us, and there may be times we feel overcome and weak. But no matter what comes we will always have at least one particle of faith. We always have what we need to persevere and all the courage and strength necessary to continue forward. Even in the midst of great tribulation we have enough. There isn’t anything we can’t do.

Life is unpredictable. If we spend our whole lives doing what’s right and trying to be the best we can be, we will still face hardship. Unexpected developments will come, disappointments will happen, and our faith will be tested. We will experience happiness and joy but we will also experience sorrow and loss. Sorrow teaches us many lessons and gives us strength as we navigate it. We can use that strength going forward to face anything that comes to us. When things go well we can build our reserves of strength and faith, and when things change, as they inevitably will, we will be ready.

If we must face serious difficulties that are life threatening or life changing, we may need to find new ways going forward. It may not be easy, it may not be quick and it may require serious determination. It doesn’t matter how hard it is to change, we can do it. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, we can endure. We are stronger and more powerful than we think we are and our most difficult times can bring out the very best in us. There really is nothing too difficult for us to manage. We can take every change step by step, and every challenge moment by moment until we master it and are successful.

Today if you’re facing a difficult trial and feel it’s too much for you, remember you have everything you need to overcome. You are strong and capable and there is nothing too hard for you to manage. Exercise a particle of faith and let it grow within you. You’ll find your way and gain great strength going forward. You can do anything.

Dropped Calls

20 Feb

In this day of cell phone technology, many of us carry phones constantly and are always on call. Sometimes that’s helpful and other times it complicates our lives. Technology isn’t perfect and there are times when we get calls and while we’re talking the connection is lost. When the call is dropped, we can try to call back which often works, but if we can’t reach the other person we may be left with half a conversation and half the facts we need. If the issue at hand is important and there are time restrictions, we may be forced to move forward without all the information. Sometimes in our lives we’re faced with similar situations. We might be in a position where we have only part of the story or must move forward with half the facts. We can try to fill in the blanks or navigate around the missing pieces and if there is no way to get the information we need we may face complications. Sometimes we know what’s missing and other times we don’t know what we don’t know. It’s difficult to navigate any situation without all the facts and if that’s the case, finding our way may be difficult. There are always options available to us no matter where we are and we can take the time to review them and choose the best way forward.

Some people hold their cards close to their chests and don’t like to reveal any more information than they absolutely must. It may be because they are unsure of what they know, or they may feel their information is proprietary to them only, or they may hold some things back as a way of insuring their position. If we must rely on them for the information we need to move forward and they hold back, we may be stalled or even stopped in our tracks. We can’t make anyone tell us anything they don’t want to share. If we need something and can’t get it from others we will have to find another way. We could do our own personal research to find the answers we need or consider previous similar situations we’ve been in and succeeded. There are all kinds of possibilities in every scenario and we can find the answers.

Moving forward depends on a lot of factors. We have to decide where we want to go and how fast we want to get there. We must depend on the facts we can get that will help us navigate the road we’ve chosen, and find all the information we can to ensure we know where we’re headed and what it will take to get there. If we get a dropped call while getting directions and don’t know which way to turn we can rely on our intuition and all the experiences we’ve had before to help us discern the right way forward. Dropped calls happen and when they do we can still find our way. It’s great to have someone else lead us forward but if that isn’t possible we can find the way ourselves. We know what we want to do and have everything we need to be successful.

Today if you’ve been stuck because of a dropped call and aren’t sure which way to turn, remember all the times you’ve been successful finding your way in the past. Rely on the information you have and choose the best answers going forward. You are capable and wise and you will find your way. The road may be long but you have everything you need to succeed.

Hero Worship

8 Feb

Sometimes we meet people who seem larger than life.  They may be beautiful, talented, and successful and might appear to be close to perfect.  We may believe they are everything we want to be and more.  When we’re with them perhaps we can’t take our eyes off them, or hang onto their every word, and we may think they could never do wrong.  This sort of hero worship can happen to all of us.  While there are some people who have achieved great success, or done things we have only dreamed of, we must remember nothing comes without a cost and nobody is perfect.  Even the most successful among us have shortcomings and personal issues they must deal with.  Although their faults and weaknesses may not be readily apparent, they have them just like we do.  It’s good to admire those who have achieved great success, no matter what that success entails, but it’s important to remember they are just like us.  They may be further down the road than we are, and they may have opened more doors than we have but we are all on the journey together.  We can take from them the lessons that will help us going forward and we can be confident in continuing on our own course to the success waiting for us.

Everyone has personal struggles.  We all pay for our successes in one way or another and even those who seem to have it all have sacrificed something valuable along the way.  Nobody is truly perfect and even when others seem to have it all, there are things we can’t see.  We all have things amiss in our lives and problems we must solve.  Everyone has challenges they must overcome specific to their own circumstances.  We can learn from others’ experiences and they can learn from ours.  Everyone has a unique road to travel and the trials along the way are specific to the goals we are trying to accomplish.  Nobody gets a free ride or a free lunch.  We all have our challenges and issues, and it’s those who refuse to let them overcome the journey who succeed and reach their goals.

Although we may feel others are heroes, the real heroes in our lives are ourselves.  We are the only ones who truly know what we’ve been through, how hard the journey has been, all the detours we’ve had to navigate and the price we’ve paid.  Our determination to continue forward and reach for the next door is heroic and brave.  When we don’t quit and continue to persevere we are courageous.  We can honor the choices we’ve made to stay the course even when it gets hard, and take credit for staying in the game.  If we stay up all night with a sick child, endure a difficult boss, extend ourselves when we feel we have nothing left to give, or share when we don’t have enough, we are heroes.  Choosing to be the best we can be no matter what our circumstance, is the most incredible thing we can do.  And when we make that choice we are the real heroes.

Today if you’ve been admiring someone you think has it all, remember how wonderful you are.  You are the real hero in your life.  You are a blessing to the world and those around you. Remember that today and go forward with increased confidence doing well and changing the world for good.

Surprise!

1 Feb

We have a lot of different relationships throughout time. Sometimes they are long term and we spend years sharing our lives with someone else. If things go well, we may have a lifetime of mutual experiences and many memories. However, sometimes our relationships end. The reasons are many and if the reason is very painful or we’ve been hurt badly, leaving the partnership may cause us serious discomfort. As time goes by we will heal from the disappointment of the loss, the sting of betrayal, or the sadness of grief. At some point, we may unexpectedly run into the person we’ve lost. Maybe we see them in passing or they show up where we are. If we’re still healing from the break it may take our breath away. The surprise of seeing someone who has hurt us deeply when we’re trying hard to heal may stop us in our tracks. Our feelings from the original event may come rushing back and we may believe we haven’t moved forward at all. Unexpected surprises with bad memories may shake us but we can regain our footing. Nothing changes just because we see someone again. We are still on our way forward and in control of our lives. If we’re not ready to engage them and aren’t compelled to, we may simply walk away. If we must speak to them we can be polite and keep our exchange brief. We can do what feels right and remain in control. We know what we want and where we’re headed. There is no surprise sufficient enough to stop our progress forward.

When we have a seriously bad memory from which we are trying to recover and it involves someone else, we may wish we could move to another planet to ensure we would never see them again. Unfortunately, that isn’t possible and even if we move there is no guarantee they won’t show up at some point. Life has a way of circling around and the odds of running into someone from our pasts isn’t always as remote as we may wish. Instead of hoping we’ll never see them again, it’s better to simply plan for what we’ll do when and if that happens. We can prepare ourselves for that possibility so if it does occur we’ll be better able to manage it. Preparing for it will help us navigate it more effectively if it happens.

Our lives are ours to direct and design. There will always be bumps along the road and unexpected events that sometimes stop our progress for a time. It really doesn’t matter what complications arise. We have everything we need to manage any obstacle and find our way around it. There is nothing strong enough to stop our progress forward. We are strong and capable, and we know what we want and where we want to go. We can continue forward and achieve greatness, and there is nothing sufficiently strong enough to keep us in place. We are in control and we will find success.

Today if you’ve been surprised by a blast from the past that has upended your progress forward, take a moment to regroup and see the situation clearly. You are strong and capable and no matter what you face today you will be successful. Look forward. The road is there for you. You have everything you need to continue on and win.
