Perfection and Excellence

18 Jan

There are levels of success in everything. Most of us want to do our best and when the results are something we truly desire, we may put a lot of time and effort into our endeavors. We may strive to do things perfectly so we can elude complications or additional stress. It’s fine to aim for perfection, but reaching it is rarely possible. We only have control over our own choices, and no matter where we are or what we’re doing, chances are something is going to get in the way. Having a paved road that’s clear and free from interruption is always the hope, but this is real life, and there are often all kinds of variables at play over which we have no control. Setting our sites on perfection is noble, but may work against us in the long run. Instead of pushing to do things perfectly, we can instead strive for excellence. If we continually do the very best we can and choose the best roads ahead, we will find the way forward with confidence when problems arise and things get jammed up. Perfection is never a requirement for success. Staying focused on the goal, and consistently doing things that move us forward will take us there. We deserve every happiness, and are worthy of every success. By making wise choices, and keeping our eyes trained on the road ahead, nothing can keep us from anything we desire.

Success comes in many different ways. There is never only one road to any destination. When we’re planning our next steps, we may look at all the options possible and decide on how we’ll proceed. Although we may be confident the choice we made is absolutely, positively the best plan, someone else may be just as confident choosing a completely different model. Different interpretations do not mean someone is wrong. We can trust ourselves to find our way forward, and despite hiccups along the way, be confident of success.

If we’re convinced we must do things perfectly, we may spend countless hours defining and refining our plans. It’s good to explore the most advantageous methods possible, but if we’re seeking perfection we may never do anything but work on the plan. There will rarely be a time when absolutely everything falls perfectly in line or every single possibility has been addressed. Life is fluid and constantly changing. We can make the best plans possible where we are now, and reach the goal by being flexible enough to face any changes as we move forward.

Today think about the goals you want to achieve. Look at all the options possible, make a plan, and take the first step forward. Don’t worry about what may go wrong. If something gets in the way, all the answers you need to get around it will be there. There is greatness in you and incredible success ahead. Be confident and sure. The road ahead is waiting, and nothing can keep you from any destination you desire.

Screen Door

10 Jan

Everyone wants an easy life with few complications and problems. We can try to make decisions that will prevent things from going wrong and try to manipulate our lives so we don’t get tangled up in situations we don’t want. We can avoid heights to prevent falling, wear gloves to avoid germs, be more cautious in every activity to try to dodge any possible pain and suffering, and do everything we can think of to control what happens next. We can do everything possible to stay within the lines, and still, even with all our doings, life is going to happen. We can control what we do, but that’s where it ends. We have no control over anything else. The rain is going to fall, things will go wrong, and we’re going to get enmeshed in trouble from time to time. It’s the nature of life. Trying to control our future or stop anything we can’t control is like trying to hold back a flood with a screen door. Doors are designed to keep things out or keep things in, but a screen door will never hold back a flood. The water will come rushing through even if we lock it tight and lean against it. Nobody gets a charmed life with only sunshine and paved roads. We’re all going to face challenges, trials, problems, crap we never imagined and countless other annoying and difficult situations. We may suffer greatly, get our hearts crushed, and feel completely destroyed. Hard times may come but no matter what happens, we will survive. We may have to stop for a time to find our way through, but there isn’t anything strong enough to hold us in place indefinitely. By trusting ourselves, making good decisions, and standing with confidence, we can unravel any issue and find resolution. All our dreams are possible, and we have everything we need to reach every destination. Complete success is there for us, and we will make it ours.

It might seem that if we keep our lives small, do the same things every day and don’t try anything new, we’ll be protected from problems and trouble. Avoiding risks may keep us from getting hurt in some ways, but if we never take a chance on something new, we’ll never know what we’re capable of accomplishing. Doing the same things will only take us to the same places. The whole world is there for us and every possibility awaits. We are stronger and more capable than we imagine and can reach anything we desire.

Traveling a new road can be daunting. We don’t know what lies around the next bend or when the road will turn. It can be unsettling to step into the unknown, but foreign territory is only foreign until we make it ours. As we take each step forward, the way ahead will open and we’ll see more. If we keep going, our courage will increase and we’ll overcome every obstacle with confidence and clarity. We have so much to offer, and there is so much we can do. We can step forward, sure of success, and as we conquer one road after another, we’ll find great excitement and satisfaction.

Today if you’ve been trying to keep everything in line and controlled, remember how strong and powerful you are. Nothing will come that you cannot manage. You are amazing and stronger than you imagine. Be confident and step forward with courage. Every destination is there for you, and you will reach them all.

Look Away

7 Dec

We share the planet with billions of other people.  They are all around us, coming and going, connecting or just passing by.  We love some of them, tolerate others and try to ignore the ones that make our lives difficult and complicated.  Some connections are easy and flow with little stress or anxiety, but others can be complex, fraught with intensity and hard to manage.  We may feel uncomfortable if we must deal with someone who is temperamental or bossy, or an old lover who broke our heart comes around, and we might do everything we can to avoid their attention.  We may try to blend into the background, keep our head down and look away, anything to prevent them from approaching us.  If that works, we may breathe a sigh of relief that we have averted any connection with them.  Nobody wants to deal with difficult people or situations, but there is no way to hide forever.  The very person we definitely don’t want to run into may show up unexpectedly, catch us off guard, and we may suddenly find ourselves face to face with them.  At that moment, it will be up to us how we handle what happens next.  We can shrink and try to disappear, which will never work, or we can stand firm and trust ourselves to find the best way through.  We already have every bit of courage and wisdom we need to navigate any difficult situation.  There isn’t anything we can’t manage and manage well. We are stronger and more powerful than we imagine.  Nothing is too hard for us to get through, and with patience and grace, we will find our way.

Every experience we have teaches us something.  When our experiences are good, we gain greater confidence and helpful knowledge that embellishes us and helps pave the road ahead.  But hard times come to all of us, and when we go through something painful and destructive, it may leave a lasting mark on us.  We may lose our trust in others, doubt ourselves, or be afraid of what will happen next.  There is no way to change the past, but there will always be a way to move forward.  We don’t have to hold onto what hurts us forever.  We can look at everything objectively and find ways to let go and move ahead.  Every destination is still there for us and every success is still possible.

Problems rarely solve themselves, and if we’ve left something unresolved because it was just too painful to look at it, it will remain.  Time cannot fix what’s been left unattended.  Trouble becomes heavier as it waits, reminders will arise, and eventually we’ll have to face the inevitable.  It doesn’t matter how hard the problem is or how tangled it has become.  We can find the answers we need, and when we’re ready, can do what is needed to settle the issue once and for all, and move on.

Today if you’ve been trying to avoid a situation or someone difficult, remember how strong and powerful you are.  You are perfectly capable of managing anything you must and there is nothing that can overcome you.  Be confident and stand firm.  Every blessing is already waiting for you, and with patience and determination, every success will be yours.

Slide

28 Oct

There are many diversions, distractions and unforeseen developments that occur constantly throughout our lives. There will always be many possibilities for every road we take. Some will benefit us and give us assets to carry forward, and others will simply get us to the goal as quickly as possible. If all we see is the prize, we may make a decision that gets us to the destination fast, and ignore the costs to our honesty and integrity. We are in control of our lives and can do anything we like. We can decide to bend the rules or cheat in an effort to reach a goal more quickly. If we’re exhausted and overwhelmed, choosing to cheat, just this once, may seem like a viable option. Stepping away from what we know is right just once doesn’t seem like a big deal. We may justify the decision because we believe we’re mostly honest and if nobody knows what we’ve done, nobody will get hurt. The slide from integrity to shame is often easy and paved. If all we see is the goal we desire, we may do anything to reach it. Even if nobody else knows what we’ve done, the sting of our dishonesty will remain with us. There is no way to change the past, and once we do something, it’s done forever. Stepping away from honesty can make some things a lot easier, and once we’ve broken the seal of our integrity, it’s not difficult to do it again. “Just this once” may become our standard practice, and we may lose our self-respect. We are valuable and important, and what we do matters. By choosing the better part and deciding to be the best we can be, we will find great reward and satisfaction. There is greatness in us all. By honoring our personal worth, we can make excellent decisions, and reach every goal with determination and valor.

We share the world with lots of other people. It may be important to us that they see us as honest and wise. What we do when others are watching does affect our lives, but who we really are is expressed by what we do when nobody is around. Will we keep the extra change because the clerk didn’t notice? Will we break the speed limit when no cops are around? Will we look at the test answers when the proctor steps away? Our personal integrity is our responsibility. When we choose the best path forward, no matter what we’re doing, we will gain greater strength and wisdom, and find amazing success.

Every decision we make defines who we are. If we don’t care about our integrity, and choose whatever will get the job done fast, we relinquish the growth possible by working through difficult challenges and finding the best answers. There is no substitution for excellence. When we strive for it and push ourselves to do the best we can possibly do, we will reap great rewards and gain a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Today if you’ve been making questionable choices in an effort to get done fast, think about who you most want to be. There is greatness in you, and you are more capable and powerful than you imagine. Choose to be excellent and take the best roads forward. You have so much to offer, and can bring great light to the world. Be noble and wise. Every success is possible, and by choosing well, you will make them all yours.

Looking Up

29 Sep

Life is full of challenges. We try to plan ahead but we never know what will happen next. Some days everything sails along and we feel fine. Things are going the way we want them to, and we feel confident and settled. But nothing lasts forever, and eventually everything will change. People may get in our way, problems may creep up, the landscape may change overnight, and all our plans may go up in smoke. Our situation may go from calm and positive to turbulent and critical in a moment’s notice. It’s hard to feel good when lots of things are going wrong. It’s hard to look ahead when we feel overwhelmed and pressed down. We may face our worst fears, and doubt our ability to survive, but all is never lost. No matter what happens, no matter what comes, no matter how bad it seems, there will always be a way out. We are strong enough to face anything and there isn’t anything powerful enough to stop us in our tracks permanently. By trusting ourselves, and looking at all the options before us, we can find the answers we need to continue forward. Hard times will come to all of us. We will be tested and pushed to our limits, but we will not break. By looking up and standing strong, we can step forward. Things may go wrong, everything may fall apart, but nothing can keep us from success. There will be a road waiting, and with patience and clarity, we will find our way.

Nobody gets a perfect life where nothing ever goes wrong and they never falter. We’re all human and all make mistakes at some point. When we’re struggling it may seem like someone else has it easy, and nothing negative ever happens to them, but we never know what’s going on in anyone else’s life. Everyone gets their share of hard times and trials, and nobody is exempt.

Life has a way of looping around and a mistake we made in the past may surface and trip us up when we least expect it. Nothing is permanent, but some decisions have lasting effects. If we’re reminded of something that didn’t go well, or some mistake we made, it doesn’t need to overcome us. The past does not define our future. We can learn from what is gone, and confidently move forward.

Today if you’re inundated with trouble and feel overwhelmed, look up. There are endless roads available and every destination is possible. Do what is needed to pave the way ahead, and step forward with clarity and confidence. Every success is waiting, and nothing can keep you from it. Your dreams are still there, and you will make them yours.
