Smackdown

14 Sep

We share the world with lots and lots of other people, and each of us has our own ideas about what we should do and how things should go. We may find others who share many of our opinions, but no two people are exactly the same. Although we may try to always get along with those around us, we will likely face times of conflict because we don’t share the same viewpoints. If the interaction is civil and polite, we may simply agree to disagree, but some people are very sure their way is the only correct way to proceed. If we don’t agree with them, we may face serious contention, and even become engaged in an argument or worse. If they are strong and have some sort of control over us, and will not tolerate dissent, they may smack us down to shut us up and hold us in place. We may be forced to follow along despite our personal views. Others may be able to hold us down for a time, but nothing is permanent, and the situation will change. If there’s nothing we can do for now, we can remain in place and wait patiently until a new door opens. We are entitled to our own opinions and can live our lives any way we like, and it’s hard if we must temporarily follow something we don’t agree with. By keeping our eyes focused on the road ahead, we will be ready when an opening appears that allows us to modify our situation. Our ideas and perspectives are important and valuable, and we can trust ourselves to find ways to communicate them in ways that are positive and move us forward. There isn’t anything or anyone powerful enough to hold us down forever, and with clarity and patience, we will find the way ahead.

If we’re sure we have the answers and know the best way forward, we may try to convince others to follow us. We may say we respect their opinions but if they are different than our own, we may try persuade them to follow us. If they disagree, and we’re adamant, we may try whatever tactics we can find to make them comply. What we do defines who we are, and bullying or forcing others to follow us will never help us build the connections we seek. If we’re willing to bend and listen to other viewpoints, cooperation and compromise will open the doors ahead.

There are many roads to every goal and there is never only one way to succeed. Everyone’s ideas are worthwhile, and by listening to other suggestions, we can find the best way forward. New ideas bring fresh perspectives that may not have been seen initially. We are intelligent and will always have a lot of answers but nobody knows everything. By being open and flexible, we will be able to evaluate many different possibilities that enable us to move ahead with confidence and clarity, and reach the goal.

Today remember that everyone has something to offer. The world is filled with differences that enrich us and enhance the road ahead. Listen carefully to any suggestions you receive and decide on the best way forward. You are amazing and intelligent, and nothing is out of reach. Decide how you want to proceed, and take the first step. Every single goal is possible and nothing can keep you from success.

There are many diversions, distractions and unforeseen developments that occur constantly throughout our lives. There will always be many possibilities for every road we take. Some will benefit us and give us assets to carry forward, and others will simply get us to the goal as quickly as possible. If all we see is the prize, we may make a decision that gets us to the destination fast, and ignore the costs to our honesty and integrity. We are in control of our lives and can do anything we like. We can decide to bend the rules or cheat in an effort to reach a goal more quickly. If we’re exhausted and overwhelmed, choosing to cheat, just this once, may seem like a viable option. Stepping away from what we know is right just once doesn’t seem like a big deal. We may justify the decision because we believe we’re mostly honest and if nobody knows what we’ve done, nobody will get hurt. The slide from integrity to shame is often easy and paved. If all we see is the goal we desire, we may do anything to reach it. Even if nobody else knows what we’ve done, the sting of our dishonesty will remain with us. There is no way to change the past, and once we do something, it’s done forever. Stepping away from honesty can make some things a lot easier, and once we’ve broken the seal of our integrity, it’s not difficult to do it again. “Just this once” may become our standard practice, and we may lose our self-respect. We are valuable and important, and what we do matters. By choosing the better part and deciding to be the best we can be, we will find great reward and satisfaction. There is greatness in us all. By honoring our personal worth, we can make excellent decisions, and reach every goal with determination and valor.

We share the world with lots of other people. It may be important to us that they see us as honest and wise. What we do when others are watching does affect our lives, but who we really are is expressed by what we do when nobody is around. Will we keep the extra change because the clerk didn’t notice? Will we break the speed limit when no cops are around? Will we look at the test answers when the proctor steps away? Our personal integrity is our responsibility. When we choose the best path forward, no matter what we’re doing, we will gain greater strength and wisdom, and find amazing success.

Every decision we make defines who we are. If we don’t care about our integrity, and choose whatever will get the job done fast, we relinquish the growth possible by working through difficult challenges and finding the best answers. There is no substitution for excellence. When we strive for it and push ourselves to do the best we can possibly do, we will reap great rewards and gain a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Today if you’ve been making questionable choices in an effort to get done fast, think about who you most want to be. There is greatness in you, and you are more capable and powerful than you imagine. Choose to be excellent and take the best roads forward. You have so much to offer, and can bring great light to the world. Be noble and wise. Every success is possible, and by choosing well, you will make them all yours.

High Expectations

4 Oct

Everyone has their own ideas about the best way to do things and how we should accomplish our tasks. Sometimes we may be asked to do things for those around us. If we work for them or they have some authority over us we may be compelled to agree. If not, we may decide if we want to do what’s asked, and if we do, how we will go about accomplishing it. If those who ask us have high expectations about how quickly we’ll get the task completed or specific ideas about how we’ll take care of it and we aren’t in agreement, we may feel uncomfortable. If we’re pressed get through faster than we think we can, and are sure we can’t meet the deadline they’ve set, we may feel stressed and worried about the outcome. It’s possible to be asked to get something done in an impossible time frame. If we’re not the ones completing the task and going through all the details and complications to manage it, we won’t have a complete understanding of everything required. It’s easy to make decisions about how things should be done looking in from the outside, but there is no way to know what’s really happening unless we’re involved in the process. If we’re in a situation where the expectations given don’t match the reality we’re facing we may feel great pressure to do something that may not be possible. Expectations can always be set but reality will never bend to meet them. We can be confident in our progress despite what others think we should be doing.  If we do our best to accomplish the task we can be happy even if we don’t meet the time parameters given. We can set our own expectations about what can be done and logically and wisely continue forward.

When someone says we should be able to do something, they are basing their ideas on their own experiences and personal judgement. Our personal interpretations and understanding are unique to our own experiences. What works for one person is not feasible for another. When others tell us how they think we should do something, we can listen and take from their comments anything that will help us, but how we proceed is our decision. We are smart enough to figure anything out. We can move forward using the skills we’ve learned and do what works best for us.

Everyone sees the world through their own prism of understanding. Our life experiences color our perceptions and everyone has their own ideas about what is best. We know ourselves perfectly and we know what we want in our lives. We can make decisions that will take us where we want to go, in a time frame that works for us. Our lives are ours to design and every decision is ours to make. We know who we are. Trusting our instincts and choosing the roads we want will bring us fulfillment and happiness.

Today if you’ve been trying to do the impossible because someone has asked you to, step back and look at the situation openly and objectively. You are competent and intelligent enough to discern if you need to change your plans to reach the goal. Trust yourself to find the best way forward. You are amazing and capable, and can accomplish anything you desire. Be wise and move forward with confidence.

Don’t Look

24 Sep

When children are young they don’t yet understand how the world works or what is real.  They hide their eyes and think we can’t see them, or tell us not to look when they’re doing something they aren’t supposed to thinking we won’t know what’s happening.  Very young children believe not seeing something means it isn’t there.  Of course, as we grow and begin to understand reality we learn that just because we can’t see something doesn’t make it disappear.  What is real remains even if we don’t look at it or pretend it isn’t there.  Most of the time we accept that but if something is happening that’s hard to face we may turn away and pretend it isn’t there.  Hiding out can never change reality.  Truth exists whether we face it or not.  There will be times when the truth is painful or what we’re seeing seems unbelievable but that cannot alter what is real.  Looking away or ignoring a problem or serious development will never help us move forward.  It may be difficult at first, but we can look at every situation openly and see it exactly as it is.  We can accept even very difficult situations and then determine what we must do to navigate through them.  Hard times will come, painful situations will arise, and we may feel confused and unsure at the beginning, but if we hold tight to our confidence and trust our ability to get through whatever lies before us, we will prevail.  We can see everything as it is and find our way through.  There is nothing too difficult for us to untangle and all the answers we need will always be there for us.

There are unlimited developments that may happen to us.  What seems impossible may become our reality.  Millions of things are happening all around us that we know nothing about that may affect our lives.  We can try our best to ensure the road ahead is clear and uncomplicated, and still things will go wrong.  If we are unwilling to bend when the road turns or cannot face what is happening we’ll get stuck where we are.  What has happened cannot be changed and becomes part of our experience.  We must move forward from where we are even if that isn’t where we want to be.  Denying the truth will only hold us in place until we’re ready to accept it and move on.

If would be great if we could simply make a wish and all our dreams would come true.  But wishes aren’t reality and when things go wrong and our situation is hard to navigate even our deepest wishes won’t change anything.  We are where we are now and nothing can take us back.  Choosing to see the situation clearly as it truly is and set our wishes aside will help us find the way through.  We are stronger and more capable than we realize.  We can do anything and do it well.  Every challenge brings us more strength and understanding, and helps us learn new skills to take forward.

Today if your situation has changed and you’re somewhere you never wanted to go, if you’re confused about what to do next and feel unsure, trust yourself.  You’ve faced many challenges already and prevailed.  You have everything you need to move ahead successfully.  Be confident.  All the answers are there for you.  Step forward and the road will open.  Every dream is still possible and you will find the way.

Passing Chances

29 Jun

There are endless opportunities available to us as we go through our lives.  When we choose a path we want to pursue and work to push forward we often find success.  There isn’t anything we can’t do but we only have control over our own choices.  Other people may do things that hold us up, situations may develop that prevent us from moving forward, and an endless array of complications may arise that keep us from our goal.  There is always a chance of success no matter what we’re seeking but our lives are complex and sometimes things get in the way.  The door we must walk through to succeed may be blocked or crowded or locked in a way we can’t overcome.  There may be times when the chance to move forward passes us by and we must wait until the opportunity arrives again.  If everything we wanted to accomplish was completely in our control nothing would be impossible.  But in the real world control is mostly an illusion and except for the choices we make ourselves, all bets are off.  It’s disappointing to want something badly and be prevented from achieving it because of factors beyond our reach.  Our desire may be sufficient and our willingness to do what is needed may be intense but if we aren’t the only ones playing the game we may have to sit this round out and wait until things change.  Change is the only constant we can rely on.  Life continually evolves and whatever was in our way in the past will eventually move aside and we’ll be able to reach the goals we desire.  We have everything we need to accomplish anything.  Being willing to wait when we must and start again when the time is right will ensure our success.

Our decisions are ours alone and we can choose anything we desire at any time.  We don’t need the agreement of others as we design our lives but if they work against us, despite our strong desire to succeed, we may have to modify our direction for a time.  There is no reason to indefinitely push against strong winds of dissent.  We don’t have to change our focus but if we can’t move ahead we can step aside and wait until the situation improves.  Sometimes the difference between success and failure is only timing.  We can look at each situation objectively and determine the best way forward.

Some situations only come around once in our lives.  They are rare but when they happen if we can’t embrace them when they are possible we may have to leave them behind.  There is no one right way to live life.  If we miss the chance to move forward on one road there will always be another to travel.  We can be flexible and accept change as it happens.  If we must redirect our course, we can find the best way forward.  Learning to bend and modify our plans when necessary will help us continue on the roads we most want to travel and ensure we’ll reach success.

Today if you’ve missed the chance to do something you wanted because of situations beyond your control, look ahead and choose the next road that will move you forward.  You are creative and wise and nothing is beyond your understanding.  Success is still possible and with time and patience you’ll reach it.
