Complete Darkness

There are times in everyone’s life when things go wrong. We may face times of great struggle and extreme duress during something very difficult and painful. It can be hard to find our footing when we feel bad and the road ahead is unknown and uphill. If the situation is extreme we may feel we can’t live though it and we will be overcome. As we stand in the midst of hopelessness and darkness we may feel overwhelmed and lost. But even in the bleakest of times, we can look outward toward the way forward and see a light ahead. There will never be a time in our lives when we are in complete darkness. There will always be a light to guide us forward. There is no problem so encompassing and difficult we can’t find the way out. We are stronger than we realize and have reserves of wisdom and courage deep within us to pull from to help us through. No matter how hard the problem, there will always be a solution. No matter how painful the situation, we have everything necessary to not only endure but overcome. We already possess everything we need to continue forward. We can be confident in distress and self-assured we will find the answers. Everything is possible and nothing will defeat us. If we remember all the things we’ve overcome already and trust in our ability to manage whatever is before us, we will find comfort even in sorrow and certainty in conflict. There isn’t anything too strong or difficult for us to manage and overcome. We are powerful and strong, and can succeed even when things go wrong.

The influence of others around us during times of distress may be a comfort or a distraction. Everyone has their own ideas about how to manage every situation. We may get suggestions that are helpful or may further complicate our way forward. We can listen to any ideas we receive and decide what to do. The decisions are ours to make and we must determine our steps ahead. We know what we need and where we want to go. We can point our compass forward and confidently step toward resolution. There isn’t anything we can’t accomplish.

When we’re in the depths of a complicated and difficult situation our thoughts may be jumbled and in disarray. We may be confused and overwhelmed with what has happened already or worried about what might happen next. No matter how much we may wish to, we cannot change the past and have no control over the future. But we can control what we do. If we take a moment to look at the possibilities before us we will find the best steps forward. Taking control of our personal actions will empower us and help us feel more confident. We don’t need to feel lost. We will find the answers and the road ahead.

Today if you’re overwhelmed by a difficult and painful situation and have no idea how to move forward, remember how strong and wise you are. It doesn’t matter how hard the situation becomes. You have everything you need to manage it. You are powerful, wise, and strong. You have overcome many challenges and you will succeed. Step forward with confidence. There is a light ahead and you will find it.

The First Step

Our lives are under our control and we can make any decisions we choose. If we want to go somewhere we can make a plan and begin toward the destination. If we want a change we can determine how to make that happen and do what is needed. There isn’t anything we can’t accomplish if we have enough desire and the willingness to do what we must to succeed. But before we do anything the first step is to decide what we want. There are endless choices available and no matter what we choose there will be a way to gain it. If we like, we can ask those around us for advice but the opinions of others won’t decide our future. We are the ones in charge and are responsible for our decisions. We are always in control of what we do. If we simply go along as things happen and allow life to unfold as it will with no input from us, we may leave dreams unrealized and goals unmet. If we want to be happy and feel fulfilled we must take control of our direction forward to ensure we end up where we want to go. The world will do what it will, those around us will live their lives as they choose, and our decisions are ours to make. We deserve complete happiness but we are the only ones who can give it to us. We can make sure the path we’re on is exactly where we want to be. We have everything we need to have the lives we desire. We can decide how we want to go forward and then take the steps that will get us there.
If we’re unhappy we can spend our days complaining and wishing for something better. Neither of those activities will bring success. Complaining only reminds us of the situation making us miserable and wishes only come true in fairy tales. It’s easy to get stuck in a routine that isn’t working simply because we know it so well. But we are in control of our lives and can do anything we like. We can change anything at any time. If we aren’t happy where we are, we can move. If we don’t like the situation we’re in, we can change. Happiness is always there for us but we must seek it and do what is needed to find it.

Before we begin any journey, we must have a defined destination. It isn’t enough to say we are going to change our lives. We must clarify what that change means and where it will take us. Once we know what we truly desire we can make a plan to move forward toward it. Everything is possible and every destination is within reach. Nothing is too difficult to achieve or too far to find. We can do anything we choose. Perfect happiness is possible and with courage and determination we will reach it.

Today if you feel unsatisfied with your life and don’t like where you are, decide where you want to go and begin moving forward to get there. You deserve the very best of everything. Take control. Turn your course toward the light and reach for what you want. Begin to change what you must to find complete happiness. The whole world is yours for the taking. Happiness is there for you and you will reach it.

What Is

Sometimes we want things in our lives to be different than they are. Maybe we aren’t happy in a relationship, maybe we don’t like our jobs, maybe we wish we looked differently, or want a change that has eluded us. There are times when the life we’re living may not be who we really are or where we really want to be. We may wish things were different, we may dream about the situation changing and we may hope our lives will shift to something closer to what we want. We can work toward changing anything we want and modify our lives in ways that make us happier. But until we make the changes needed, we are where we are. Learning to live with what is real right now can help us understand and plan for changes to get us where we want to be. Sometimes when we’re unhappy we may look the other way and pretend things are different than they are. We may ignore the situation and just keep plowing through a life that doesn’t fulfill us. But ignoring a situation never changes it and we deserve to be happy. We can find true happiness by facing our lives as they are, seeing what is right now, and then making a plan to correct our course to get the lives we really want.

Some people have trouble living in the present. They constantly talk about the past and live through their memories or dream about a future that is different than what they’re living. Memories are great and we learn a lot from the lessons of the past but that is behind us and cannot be re-lived. It’s over and although we may revisit it, if we let it control our present it may paralyze us and keep us from moving forward. Dreaming of our future may help us formulate plans to make it a reality but we must do more than dream. Continually thinking about how things could be takes us away from what they are. What is now is what we’re living. If we want to change, we can but simply dreaming about it will do nothing but freeze us in place. If we can openly see and accept where we are we can then decide where we want to go and begin moving forward.

It can be hard to accept difficult changes that come to us. If someone we love leaves us or betrays us, if we get hurt and can no longer use our body the way we have before, or some other severe challenge enters our lives we may find it hard to move forward. We may wish we could go back in time and change things. It may be hard to cope with our new reality and live with our lives as they are. But whether we cope with them and accept them or live in denial, what is real is what we’re living. When we see things as they truly are, we can begin to move forward. Accepting truth opens the doors to understanding and understanding helps us find ways forward to happiness. We can be happy no matter what life gives us. We know what we want and with determination can find our way to any destination we desire.

Today if you’ve been looking the other way and refusing to face a situation in your life that is uncomfortable, remember you deserve to be completely happy. There isn’t anything too difficult or complex for you to face. See everything as it is and make a plan to move forward. You have so much light to offer. Let it shine on you today.

Step One

We have a lot of goals in our lives. There are many things we think about, things we want to do, and things we want to achieve. But having a goal is just the first step in accomplishing anything. Thinking about what we want to do is fine, but if we’re serious about achieving it, we have to do more. The famous French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” And that’s true. It’s fun to wish for things but if we want our wishes to become reality, we need to make a plan to accomplish them and then implement it. It takes action to succeed in anything. We can dream and wish and hope for things to happen, but nothing will ever change until we do something to make the change a reality.

When we seriously want something in our lives, we must do what it takes to get it. Sometimes it’s necessary to change what we’re used to or what we’ve been comfortable with.  Maybe we have to give up some free time, or we have to step out of our comfort zone and extend ourselves to those we don’t know. Maybe we have to let go of some long held fear. When what we really want means a great deal to us, we can make those sacrifices. But if we have to do something that scares us, or we’re intimidated by the process needed to get to the goal, it may take more courage than we initially anticipated. And then we’ll have to determine how much we want to succeed. If we really want to go forward, there is nothing that will stand in our way. We will do what it takes, no matter what that entails.

There is nothing we can’t do if we want to badly enough. There is no obstacle so large that it will prevent us from achieving our goal. We can do anything. But we must decide what we really want. They say we always do what we want to do most. That seems evident. If we say we want to change but keep doing the same things, the real truth is that we want things to stay the same. If we really want to change we have to embrace it and do what is needed to make it happen. If we keep doing the same things over and over again, change will never happen. Even if we talk about what we want to do, even if we think about it constantly, even if we dream about it, if we do nothing to change where we are, we will never achieve it.

Today if you’ve been dreaming about a change you want in your life, if you’ve been wishing for it and thinking about it, do one thing that will take you closer to it. Take the first step to start moving forward to the goal, and set a date to accomplish it. Then start doing what is needed to make it a reality. With every step you take you’ll be closer than you were before. You can do anything. Start now. There is nothing that will stop you or stand in your way. You have everything you need to succeed.
