Not Ready

10 Aug

We can do anything we want in life. Some things will come easily and be simple to accomplish. We may achieve them with little effort, and feel happy and confident. But not everything can be achieved without serious work. We may choose something that will require a lot of concentration and effort. If it’s going to be complicated and require our complete attention, when we look at everything that will be required to accomplish it, even if we really want it we may think we’re not quite ready to tackle it. Nobody is perfect but we may believe we need to be somehow better than we are right now or the situation needs to perfect before we begin. Waiting for the perfect time to start a journey is always an option, but if we put things off until everything lines up, everyone around us is in agreement, and someone is there to help us pave the way ahead, we may stay where we are indefinitely. We don’t have to do anything until we’re ready, but waiting until everything is perfect may work against us. Perfection in life is the exception, not the norm. Most of the time there will be something that isn’t working, or someone who’s complaining, or something that doesn’t exactly mesh with our plans. None of that matters if we’re ready to move and achieve the goal. No matter what’s going on around us, we can find a way forward and untangle anything in the way. We just have to take a step forward, and then take another until we reach the goal. Life is uncertain, and we never know what will happen next. We are in control of our own destiny and can go anywhere and do anything despite what is happening around us. Every single dream is possible, and with focus and determination, we can reach them all.

No matter what we want to do, there will always be someone who thinks we can’t achieve it. Some people don’t like change in their own lives, or the lives of those around them. They want everything to stay the same so they know what to expect. Everyone has their own choices to make, but we never have to change ours just because someone else doesn’t agree. We can listen to their objections and advice, and then choose our own way forward. We already know what we want, and have everything we need to get it. We can begin any journey as soon as we’re ready and be sure of success.

We may face a time when the road ahead is very different than we anticipated. There may be unexpected complications, or others involved who make the journey difficult. Facing an unforeseen problem isn’t a sign that we must stop. Although we can never see the entire journey before we begin, we can be confident that no matter what we face, we’ll have what we need to continue forward. Few roads will take us directly from where we are to the destination we want. There will likely be twists and turns, delays and detours, but if we are patient and persist, nothing can keep us from the goal.

Today if you’ve been waiting for everything to be perfect before starting toward a goal, look at the situation objectively. You are amazing and intelligent, and can manage anything that comes. Trust yourself to prevail and step forward. Every destination is there for you, and every goal is possible. Be confident and begin. Nothing can keep you from success and you will win.

Leaving With Grace

25 Jun

Life is full of ups and downs. Everyday brings us something new and we never know what will come next. Sometimes all our plans go well and we make good, strong connections that pave the road ahead and help us reach our goals. Other times, despite our best efforts, things go awry and we face changes we didn’t plan on. Relationships end, jobs change, people leave, and roads turn. There will be times when we must walk away and start in a new direction. Nothing is permanent and life is unpredictable. If the change takes us by surprise and we are heartbroken, we may feel angry that we can’t have what we thought was there for us. It’s normal to be upset when what we desire and plan on is no longer possible. We can scream and shout, belittle others who are involved, stamp our feet and slam all the doors, but that will not change our new reality. Serious disappointments are hard to navigate and we may give into every immature and vicious emotion possible, and that may make us feel better for a while, but it will only delay the inevitable realization that we are powerless over the change we must face. Instead of giving in to our most base instincts and lashing out at whomever or whatever has caused our discomfort, we can stop and step back. We can stand still and quiet for a moment and give ourselves time to adjust to what’s happened. There is great courage and stamina within us all, and if we take a moment to breathe, we will be able to manage what’s happened and see our way forward. We may have to leave where we are, and we may be unhappy and unsettled, but by trusting ourselves and remembering who we are, we can leave with grace. Nothing is more powerful or gives us more strength than self-control in times of great discomfort. Everything may have come apart, and the bottom may may fall out of all our plans, but the world hasn’t ended. We are still here, and can still succeed. Nothing is strong enough to hold us in place indefinitely and keep us from our goals. No matter what’s happened, our dreams are still possible, and with determination and patience, we will reach them all.

Everyone has an idea of how their lives should go. We can make all kinds of plans and chart our course ahead, and everything may go well, or we may be stopped in our tracks. Nothing is guaranteed and even if we’re sure we’re on the right road, things may change and we may get turned around and end up going in the opposite direction. Decisions may be made we have no control over that impact us negatively, or someone may enter the picture who takes over and changes our trajectory. A lot can happen, but nothing can keep us from moving ahead. We can adjust our plans, and step forward in a new direction and still reach success.

There is greatness in all of us. When things go wrong, and everything turns, even if we are upset and unsettled, we can trust we will find our way forward. By honoring our personal nobility, we can step away from any situation with grace and patience, and decide how we want to proceed. There will never be anything so difficult and complex that we can’t find our way through. We can trust ourselves to uncover all the answers we need, and step forward sure of success.

Today if your situation has changed and you must start again, if you feel overwhelmed and defeated, be confident. You have overcome many difficult and challenging times, and already possess everything you need to find your way forward. Nothing has changed. Your dreams are still there waiting. Stand tall and step forward. There is great success just ahead, and you will reach it.

Reckoning

2 Jun

We make millions of decisions as we go through our lives. Everyone wants to be happy and nobody tries to make a bad choice on purpose that will increase their suffering. We try to make good decisions at every turn and most of the time we’re successful. But we may face a situation where what we’ve chosen blows up in our faces, and we crash and burn. Maybe we didn’t get all the facts beforehand, maybe we were in a rush or a thousand other factors came into play. If the choice is grievous, when it hits the fan, we may try to hide or pretend we don’t know anything about what’s happening. That might work for a time, but nothing can stay hidden forever, and eventually our part will be found out. We’re all accountable for everything we do – the good and the bad. When the reckoning comes, we may be sorely sad for the choice we made, and may suffer greatly due to ramifications of what’s occurred. If we generally manage our lives well and make sensible, balanced choices, and this is an unusual screwup, we’ll likely be able to recovery and restore what has been lost. However, if we’re continually irresponsible and repeat seriously bad judgement again an again, chances are we’ll lose the trust of those around us. It’s hard to rely on someone who constantly makes bad decisions that tangle up our lives. We’re all capable of choosing well, but good choices don’t just happen because we want them. We must actively do what is needed to get the facts and think about what we’re doing before we jump. By looking for the information we need and taking our time to review all the possible options, we have a better chance of choosing well. Our lives are a reflection of every choice we make, and each success is possible if we’re willing to do what is necessary to make it ours.

Some people believe it’s easier to ask for forgiveness after the fact than for permission before we act. Leaving others in the dark only to surprise them with some unexpected problem is a recipe for disaster. By including everyone involved before we choose, we can get their opinions and good advice to help ensure we’re headed in the right direction.

Nobody is perfect and it’s likely that we’ll all make a bad choice at some point. When the situation begins to deteriorate and we realize we’re headed for trouble, we can be honest about our part in what’s happened and begin the process of changing direction. If we need advice, we can ask for it. Every situation can be amended and with patience and persistence, we can correct our course, and move forward with renewed confidence.

Today if you’ve made a bad choice and created a problem that is complex and difficult, trust yourself. You are not defined by a mistake. Look at everything objectively and decide how you want to proceed. There is a solution to every problem, and you will find the answers you need. Be calm and confident. The road ahead is still there for you and you will reach success.

Hesitation

26 May

When we’re facing a big decision, we may feel unsure about how to proceed. It’s important to get as much information as we can before we begin. If we carefully uncover as many facts as possible about what the situation is, what may go wrong, and who will be involved, we have a better shot of things working out the way we want them to. Big decisions that may change our lives and take us to unknown destinations will need a lot of thought and preparation before we take the leap. If we take our time, and uncover all the possible outcomes that may occur, we will feel more confident once we step forward. Even if we prepare well, we don’t know what we don’t know. It may happen that there will be unexpected developments that force us to change direction, or unforeseen complications that stop are progress. Nobody can read the future, but if the goal is important and we’re determined to reach it, we will find our way through whatever comes. Change can be uncomfortable, and we may hesitate to continue moving forward if the road becomes difficult. There is no rush to reach success. If we need time to stop and think, we can take it. The destination will still be there when we’re ready to move again. Taking a time out isn’t surrendering to defeat. We have all the wisdom and courage we need to do anything we desire. Some goals are hard to reach, may become tangled up and difficult to navigate, and may take far longer than we anticipated. It’s impossible to see the end of any road from the beginning, but we can move ahead one step at a time and find our way. There isn’t any journey too difficult for us to navigate, or goal too far away for us to reach. Once we’ve decided what we want, we can reach success. Every single dream is possible. By focusing on the way ahead, and choosing to continue forward, we will gain the prize.

Everyone has their own personal timetable for making decisions. Some people like to choose quickly and jump ahead, confident they will be able to face whatever comes. Others prefer to think about their choices a little longer. They want to be sure they’ve uncovered as much information as possible before they begin. What we do and how we do things is a personal expression. We know who we are and what we want, and can decide how we’ll move forward at every step.

It’s difficult to make good decisions if we’re impulsive and impatient. If we jump into situations without thinking, and things go wrong, we can either tough it out and make the best of it, or simply give up. The old saying that, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” is accurate. If we don’t prepare or plan before we jump headlong into a situation, the odds of success will diminish. Nobody wants to work for nothing. We are intelligent and wise and can make excellent decisions. By taking our time, and choosing wisely, we will find great satisfaction and happiness.

Today if you’re facing a big decision and you’re hesitating because you’re unsure, look at all the facts before you. You are intelligent and capable of making excellent choices. Decide what you want and then take the first step ahead. Every single success is there for you and nothing is out of reach. Be confident and trust yourself. You will succeed.

Tattoos

23 Apr

As we go through our lives, we must make millions of decisions, and each one we make brings a result and takes us somewhere. We may continue moving forward on our current path or make a choice that takes us far from where we were initially headed. There are limitless opportunities and we can do anything we like. Most of the time we may try hard and make good decisions that work out well, but we aren’t perfect, and will all make mistakes from time to time. If we make a decision that impacts our lives in very difficult and negative ways and takes us down a road that brings hardship and trial, we may be seriously adversely affected. We might struggle to get past what’s happened and it may seem that one bad decision will stick to us like a tattoo, ever present and never fading. We might falter and things may go seriously wrong, but nothing is permanent. There is no indelible ink stain that can’t be removed. The past can never predict the future, and we can learn from where we’ve been and take all that knowledge and wisdom forward with us. It doesn’t matter if we feel we’ve made the biggest mistake in history, it’s just one moment and cannot determine where we go next. No previous error can sentence us to a life of despair. There are endless chances for us to try again and re-route our course toward where we want to go. If the door in front of us is closed and locked, we can turn in a new direction and continue forward. If we’ve created a situation that is turbulent and fraught with stress, we can change it. We are in control of our lives and there isn’t anything we can’t modify if we need to. Mistakes happen, and we may fall down, but we can get back up and start again. Every success is still there waiting, and with determination and clarity, we will reach it.

If we’re in a situation where others see us make a big mistake, they may decide we can’t make good decisions and are not to be trusted. They may choose to define us by one choice, and that is their prerogative, but can never tell the whole story. We are intelligent and capable and can revise any plan or situation that isn’t working. By trusting ourselves to make good choices, and bravely stepping forward, we can find the answers we need to achieve anything we desire.

Salt looks a lot like sugar. When we bake a cake, if we add salt instead of sugar the batter may look fine, but our mistake will be obvious when we finish baking and taste the final product. The same is true in our lives. Some decisions look fine when we first make them, but we may not get all the information we need beforehand, and the entire situation may fall apart. Instead of worrying and bemoaning the error, or belittling ourselves because we faltered, we can look at everything objectively and start again.

Today if you’ve been struggling with a bad decision you made in the past, let it go. Today is what matters. You are amazing and intelligent and can make excellent choices. Trust yourself and step forward with confidence. There isn’t anything you can’t do, and you will prevail. All your dreams are there for you, and you will reach them.
