First

24 Mar

In nature, there is order to how things happen. Each season has its own influence and impact, and no matter what comes, they continue to follow the same patterns. When it’s cold outside, everything hibernates and waits. When it starts to warm, seedlings begin to burst and grow, and leaves start to pop out on trees. We all accept this as part of the natural order. One thing prepares for the next. The same is true in our personal lives. We can decide to run a marathon, but first, we must commit to training for it. If we want a job that requires a lot of knowledge, we must first do what is required to obtain it. Doing what is needed in the first place will enable us to accomplish the goal that comes after. If we’re very confident, we may try to jump ahead of what needs to be done first and charm our way to what we want, and we might get lucky once or twice, but nothing takes the place of real preparation. What comes first is important to what comes next. Builders understand that to build a strong, enduring structure, they must begin by digging a deep foundation and fortifying it in ways that will support the building through whatever comes. Without first creating the foundation, the whole thing will eventually fall. We know what we want, but we must be willing to do whatever is required to achieve it. We can talk about what we’re going to do until we’re blue in the face, but until we step forward and start, nothing will change. Accomplishing whatever we must, one step at a time, from beginning to end, will take us to the goal. We can do anything and go anywhere. Nothing is beyond our reach, and we will succeed.

When we fly on a plane, we’re instructed that if something goes wrong and we need oxygen, to put the oxygen mask on ourselves first before we try to help others. If we can’t breathe, we won’t be able to assist anyone else. Taking care of ourselves before we devote our time to others is important. Sacrificing our personal needs and pushing ourselves to exhaustion will stop us in our tracks and keep us from accomplishing anything. We are the most important people in our lives, and it isn’t selfish to take care of ourselves first. By making sure we have what we need to be healthy and strong, we will be able to reach any goal we desire and serve those around us.

Repetition can only reinforce what we’re doing. If we continually do the same things, we won’t be able to move onto something new. Every goal is possible, but they won’t just fall into our laps because we desire them. We must take the first step forward and then do what is needed to make them ours. We have all the courage and wisdom necessary to achieve any goal we desire. By trusting ourselves, and stepping forward with confidence, we will reach success.

Today start at the beginning and take the first step toward the destinations you desire most. You are intelligent and capable, and know what you want. Trust yourself. You are more powerful than you imagine. Every dream is there for you, and with determination and faith, you can make them yours.

Flawless

23 Mar

Life is a great experience, but it isn’t without pitfalls. There are always lots of options for every decision we make and although we may try hard to be perfect, we are only human. Everyone makes mistakes and nobody is perfect. There is no road map telling us which way to go, or guidebook advising us about what to avoid. We make our choices and learn as we go. If things fall apart, we learn what doesn’t work. If we do something that hurts us, we learn what to avoid. Every day we step a little closer to the person we want to be. Some people are very critical and may point out a time when we did something they find unacceptable. They may call us out or make us an example, choosing to highlight a bad decision we have already acknowledged and corrected. There is nothing to be gained by ridiculing others for making mistakes. Nobody is flawless, and we will all stumble from time to time. Falling or taking a wrong turn teaches us a lot about ourselves and the world around us. Holding someone continually accountable for previous errors in judgement serves nobody, and reminding others of their mistakes doesn’t make us better or superior. One thing is certain, none of us are flawless. We will all make errors in judgement from time to time, may choose the wrong road, take a wrong turn, or say something we regret. Those actions don’t permanently define us. We are always learning and growing, and can move forward with confidence, even though we’ve missed a turn or two. There is greatness in all of us, but if all we focus on is the missteps, it will be hard to recognize. Life isn’t always easy. By being aware of what we’re doing and choosing the best we can, we can move forward toward success and achieve it. The past can never predict the future. We are in control and can reach any goal we desire.

Some people are very judgmental and feel it is their responsibility to point out everyone’s shortcomings. Putting others down can never raise us up. Instead of focusing on the perceived shortcomings in others, we can look inward and choose our own road ahead. By honoring ourselves and those around us, we will gain more grace and gratitude for the blessings we possess and focus on the goals we want the most.

We may strive for perfection and try hard to always make the best decisions, but life is complex. Although we may do our best to choose wisely, there will always be a lot of factors we can’t control. Unexpected situations may arise, others may alter our direction, and our plans may go sideways. That doesn’t mean we’re incompetent or insufficient. We know what we want and have everything we need to achieve it. It may not work out the first time we try, or the second, or third, but with determination and clarity, we can continue forward until we reach success.

Today if you’re hesitating because of a mistake you made in the past, recognize how capable and strong you are. You know how you want to proceed and have everything you need to reach any goal. Be confident and trust yourself. You are more powerful than you realize and can accomplish anything. Every dream is possible, and you can have the life you desire most. Stand tall and step forward. Happiness is just ahead.

Reasons

22 Mar

Lots of things happen to us in life. Sometimes we have great experiences that bring us happiness and satisfaction, and other times we go through ordeals that try our patience, push us to despair, and make us miserable. Ups and downs are the nature of life and we’ll likely go through things we never imagine will happen. When we’re struggling, someone may tell us, “Everything happens for a reason,” as though that will comfort us. While it’s true that everything does indeed happen for a reason, it’s ridiculous to think there is some sort of master plan at work manipulating and steering our lives. The reasons for what we’re going through may be a result of someone else’s bad decision, or circumstances beyond our control, or something we did, or the Bermuda Triangle. This is life – not fairyland, and the fact is, crap happens. What comes, comes, and we must deal with it when it arrives. There is no way to predict the future or see beyond the next bend. Things may go exactly as we expect them to, or everything may go sideways, and we may end up flat on our backs wondering what happened. It doesn’t mean we’ve done anything wrong, or we must suffer to get ahead. It’s just how it goes. Unexpected and unwelcome surprises will come, and we may be confused about how to manage them, but we are intelligent and highly capable. There will be a resolution for every problem, and with patience and determination, we will find our way through. There may be times when the road ahead of us is paved and nothing gets in our way as we move toward success, but those times are few and far between. Most of the time, there will be obstacles and complications, but we will always have what we need to find the answers to continue forward. Every destination is possible, and nothing can keep us from them. We are smart enough and strong enough to do what is necessary to reach success.

Those close to us who care about us and want us to be happy may give us all kinds of advice for our lives. They may tell us where they think we should go and what we should do. They are certainly entitled to their opinions, but we are in control of our lives. We can listen with grace, and then do what we want. It’s impossible to find complete happiness living someone else’s life. We already know where we want to go and have everything we need to achieve any goal we desire.

Nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. When trouble comes, we may believe it’s because of a mistake we made in the past. While a previous decision may take us somewhere we don’t want to go, we can always change direction. There is no scorecard that needs balancing because we took a wrong turn. Mistakes teach us what doesn’t work and give us new skills for success moving forward. We can be confident as we move ahead, and trust that we’ll succeed.

Today if your plans have fallen apart and the road ahead has suddenly disappeared, think about what you want the most. Difficulties and problems cannot keep you from your goals. Decide how you want to proceed and step forward with confidence. Nothing can keep you from any destination you desire, and every success will be yours.

Money and Fame

19 Mar

The world has all kinds of ideas about success and what equates to value. How much money we make, who we know, how much clout we possess, how famous and well known we are, and a million other things are touted as evidence of our self-worth. Many interpretations include great perks and attributes connected to them, but what happens on the outside of our lives isn’t always a reflection of who we really are. Money and influence don’t automatically reflect goodness and light. There are lots of examples of very bad people living very affluent lives. But the world can only see what’s on the outside. We are responsible for every choice we make, and nobody knows what goes on in our own minds. Our lives and the real success we achieve is a reflection of what we think about and the decisions we make. The world will do what it will, but our lives are ours to determine and design. If we’re honest and genuine, kind to those around us, caring and considerate, our influence will be helpful and beneficial. If we choose instead to only think of ourselves, and get what we want, no matter who gets hurt in the process, our influence will be different. Our personal self-worth is determined by how we live and who we are. It’s nice to accumulate money, and fame always has its allure, but what we do in the quiet moments, when nobody is watching, will define who we really are. There is greatness in all of us, and we all have the potential to bring great light and goodness to the world. Our choices are ours to make and each step we take will take us somewhere. Whether it’s where we most want to go, or we end up in never land depends on what we decide. Life is a precious experience. By choosing well, and holding fast to our personal nobility and integrity, we can create a life that brings us great satisfaction and joy. We know what we want, and where we want to go. We can accomplish anything we desire and be a blessing to the world.

Everyone has a past. We can’t control the circumstances we’re born into, who our parents are or who raises us. Some of us have better situations than others, but our beginnings can never control where we go. All the roads are there for us, and every destination is possible. We already have all the courage we need to accomplish anything we desire. By planning carefully, and continuing forward no matter what happens, we can reach any goal. The road doesn’t have to be paved for us to travel forward. We are more powerful than we realize, and we will succeed.

Our dreams are important, and possible. It would be nice to be born into privilege and wealth and money can pave difficult situations for us. But money is just a tool that greases the wheels. We must be the driver to get us there. We control our own destinies. If we don’t like where we are, we can move. Change is always possible. There isn’t anything we can’t accomplish if we’re willing to do what is necessary to make it ours. Every destination is waiting, and we can achieve greatness.

Today think about who you are and what you want. Decide how you want to live your life moving forward. You can reach any goal or destination you desire. Trust yourself and be confident. The whole world is there for you, and you will win.

Programmed

17 Mar

When we’re children, we see what our parents and other adults around us are doing and watch the decisions they make. We may begin to pattern our lives around their example because we don’t have much to compare them to. As we get older and begin to step away from the family unit more and more, our understanding of different ideas and interpretations broadens, and we begin to see that not everyone does things the same way. Everything we see changes us a little and we start to form our own ideas about how we want to live our lives and what we want to do. As we mature, we may think we’re on a completely different road than the one our parents taught us, and then we realize we’ve made a decision exactly the same way as they would. We may believe we really haven’t changed at all, and think we’re programmed to continue making the same choices and the same mistakes we saw our first family make, and there’s nothing we can do about it. While it’s definitely true that what we learned and saw as a child may have influence over what we do as adults, nobody is destined to repeat history. We all have our own agency and can do anything we like, but we must consciously decide what that will be. It takes effort to live “on purpose” instead of just going through the motions. Each of us is an individual and we can all design our lives any way we like. There is no destiny keeping us from making our own choices. It’s all up to us. If we want to turn in a different direction, we can. If we want to go down a new road, we can. Everything is possible. Nothing can keep us from achieving any goal we desire. By deciding what we want, and then doing what is needed to make it ours, we can have the lives we want the most. Great success is possible, and we will prevail.

Some families stay very close to tradition. They follow the same rules the generation before followed and hold firm to the habits and customs of the past. Just because something has always been done one way doesn’t mean it cannot be done differently. Despite tradition, we are in control of our own lives. We can continue to follow the traditional behaviors if that’s what we want, or we can forge our own way forward. We know what we want and have everything we need to achieve it.

It takes courage to live our lives according to our own personal desires and aspirations. The pressure to follow along with the norm can be great, but it’s impossible to make our own dreams come true by following what others are doing. We are entitled to complete fulfillment and happiness, and by following our personal desires and doing what is needed to make them ours, we will achieve it. Every single dream is possible, and nothing can keep us from success.

Today if you want to move in a different direction but have hesitated, decide what you want the most, and take the first step forward. Every destination is there for you and you have everything you need to reach them. Be confident. You are amazing and powerful, and have all the courage you need to succeed.
