Not Getting Up

27 Apr

We all experience good times and bad times as we navigate through our lives.  Sometimes it seems we can do no wrong and every choice we make brings a positive result.  Other times we may face situations that fail no matter what we try.  We all face moments when everything goes wrong.  Everyone falls down from time to time but falling down never means failure.  Failure comes if we decide not to get back up.  If we decide we’ve had enough and quit, if we turn away and give up, only then do we fail.  We can accomplish anything we want to do if we are willing to do what it takes to get it done.  Some plans don’t work out, sometimes we struggle trying to find the way through and sometimes the situation is far more complex than we knew at the beginning.  We can always change our plans and choose another road.  We are in control of our lives and if our first choice doesn’t work out we may decide to change our plans.  Making a change isn’t the same as giving up.  Giving up happens when we really want to achieve something, and quit.  It’s always possible to modify our way forward but we will never find success if we stop trying.  There really isn’t anything we can’t do but we have to be courageous enough to face the wind and determined enough to modify our direction when complications arise.  We have all the courage and determination we need and if we press forward, no matter what comes, we will win.

There is no way to know what will come to us in the future.  We can try to prepare for unplanned eventualities and complications but sometimes the road takes a hard turn we aren’t ready for.  Even if we find ourselves in foreign territory and are unsure which way to go we can regroup and take the time needed to find the way forward.  We are smarter and more capable than we think we are and we have everything we need to succeed.  If we trust ourselves and take our time we can work miracles and change the course of any path until we reach the destination.  No matter how many times we fall, we can get up and start again.

If the road has been long and difficult and we feel the fatigue of the struggle, we can step back for a time and rest.  Most goals we want to achieve don’t have stringent timeframes attached to them.  If we need a break we can take it.  After we feel restored and ready we may begin the journey again.  With diligence and continual effort forward we will reach the destination we are seeking.  We have enough strength to go keep going and we will win.

Today if you’ve been struggling trying to move forward and you’ve fallen down, get back up.  Take a moment to step back and think about the way forward.  There is no road too long for you and no complication too difficult for you to solve.  You can do anything.  You can work miracles.  Remember who you are and pull from the strength inside you.  You have everything you need to win.  Nothing can stop your success.

True Competition

25 Apr

There are all kinds of ways to compare ourselves to the world. We can determine how we measure up to performance standards we admire, notions of beauty we desire, levels of success we strive for and thousands of other ideas. Although we may compare ourselves with others, our true competition is within ourselves. It doesn’t matter what anyone else achieves, how much they acquire, or what they define as success. We are the ones who determine what success is in our lives. If we emulate someone else’s achievements we may get closer to the goal we’re seeking but our personal success is unique to us. We must define true accomplishment in our own lives. Each of us has specific and unique talents and gifts we bring to the world. We will not find success by trying to give the world something we don’t possess. Understanding who we are and what gifts we offer will help us find our way to the lives we want most. We don’t need to compare ourselves against the accomplishments of others. We may set our own goals and standards and achieve them our own way. The world may set all kinds of ideals for what it defines as success, but true success comes when we give our best, no matter the outcome. We are the only ones who can truly judge our performance. We are our true competition.

There are a lot of ideas and opinions about what success looks like. Some believe it’s a reflection of material possessions and the more we have the more successful we are. Others think it has to do with power and having control over many people. Still others equate it only with money with the goal to have a lot of it. But we define what true success is in our lives. There is no success greater than doing our best to live the lives we most want. We determine what that looks like and only we can decide if we are accomplishing the goal. Our competition lies within us and the choices we make every day. What others think really doesn’t matter.

We live with ourselves every single day. There is no way to escape the choices we make or the decisions we choose. If we aren’t living in ways that bring us satisfaction and happiness we can change. True happiness is available to everyone but we must make decisions needed to bring it to us. We can compare ourselves to everyone around us, to what others think we should do, and try to model our lives after examples we admire. But real happiness will only come when we do what is best for us. We don’t have to compete with what others define as successful. We can define it for ourselves.

Today if you’ve been trying to measure up to someone else’s ideas and competing with those around you, remember only you know what makes you happy. Make choices that bring you the personal successes you seek. You know the perfect path forward. Choose it, and you will find joy as you move forward. Every success you desire will become a reality. Real happiness is there for you and you can have it.

Reset

10 Apr

There are many roads and journeys we can take as we live our lives. We can choose any direction or destination we desire and move forward until we get where we want to go. Sometimes we know what we want and exactly how to get there. Other times we may be unsure but continue forward hoping when we reach the destination it will be what we’re seeking. As we travel along if we begin to feel doubt about what we’re doing and aren’t sure the road we’re on is where we want to be, we can step away and change direction. But if we’ve been on the same path for a while and there are a lot of connections we may be hesitant. Turning may mean a lot of change and take a lot of effort. It doesn’t matter how long we’ve been going one direction. We always have the power to move. Everything we do teaches us something and sometimes we have to go left for a while to discover we really want to go right. Life is all about learning. As we travel along sometimes we may decide where we want to go is different than where we’ve been headed. We may always redirect our course going forward in the direction we’re seeking and start again. No step forward is wasted. Each step teaches us something new and as we refine our vision we may correct our direction to where we most want to be.

When we’re working with equipment sometimes everything stops and we get stuck. We have to press the reset button so everything will begin again. We don’t have reset buttons in our lives but we may certainly stop and consider what we’re doing at any time and if we aren’t happy with where we’re headed or haven’t accomplished what we wanted to do, we can reset our lives and start again. We always have the choice to change anything we like. If the road we’re on is not taking us to a destination we want to achieve, we may step away from it and chart a new course.

Change may be unsettling. If we’re resistant to it we may find ourselves doing something we don’t want to do and going somewhere we don’t want to go simply because we’re worried about the change. Routines can be comforting and knowing what to expect is easier than traveling on foreign territory. If we stay in situations we don’t really want we will never find true happiness. There isn’t a road we can’t travel and nothing we can’t achieve if we’re willing to try. We have enough courage and wisdom to make decisions that will bring us real satisfaction. We can choose a new way forward and move in the direction we want most. Our lives are ours to design and we can do anything we like. We can go where we want to go with confidence and clarity, and get to any destination we choose.

Today if you’ve been on the same road for a while and you aren’t sure it’s where you really want to be, change your course. You deserve every happiness and there isn’t anything you can’t achieve. Decide what you want most and then chart your course forward to get there. All your dreams can come true. Start walking toward them. They’re waiting for you.

Finding Passion

3 Apr

We go through a lot of experiences and changes as we live our lives.  Sometimes we know what we want to do right away, and other times we need to consider our options before deciding on the way forward.  When there is something we really want to accomplish we may be filled with passion to get it done.  There be an intense conviction that we need to accomplish the task and great drive to move toward it.  Passion gives us an added push that helps keep us going when the road gets rocky or we face complications.  If we lack passion for the things we want to do we may fall into complacency and be unconcerned.  We can take all the time we want to decide our way forward but if all we do is sit and wait nothing will change.  If we don’t make decisions to progress ahead with purpose chances are we will not accomplish the goals we want to achieve.  Complacency is a dangerous game.  If we simply watch our lives go by, we may fall into laziness or apathy and find years pass without accomplishing much.  If we spend our time only thinking about possibilities and are unconcerned about when or if we accomplish them odds are we will do little to move forward.  It takes passion to make strong decisions and stick to them and it’s impossible to be passionate and complacent at the same time.  If we know what we want and are determined to do what is needed to obtain it, nothing can stop us. True conviction and passion are available to all of us all the time.  We need only decide what we want to achieve and then with confidence begin our way forward.

Before we begin any journey we must decide on the destination.  We won’t achieve anything by aiming in circles with no target in mind.  We can do anything and all we need to begin is decide where we want to go and what we want to do.  Once we determine the destination we can begin to plan and start moving forward.  Great satisfaction comes as we conquer each step forward and get closer to the goal.  There will always be complications and distractions but if we are focused and determined we will reach the goal.

When pilots fly they sometimes allow the plane to make decisions by employing the auto pilot feature.  When the plane is in that mode the pilot does not need to focus on the way forward unless an unforeseen complication arises.  Auto pilot is the perfect tool for airplanes but living on auto pilot will never help us reach any destination we are seeking.  We must be fully engaged, passionate about the goal and pushing forward with attention and purpose to be successful.  Complacency will never bring us success.  We can purposefully and with conviction seek out the best choices for our lives and then confidently go forward to achieve them.

Today if you’ve become complacent and haven’t moved forward, decide what you want most and begin anew.  Embrace your passion and direct your course.  You can climb the highest mountain and overcome any obstacle.  The world is there waiting for you to claim it.  Move forward and make all your dreams come true.

On the Lookout

17 Mar

“Never to suffer is never to have been blessed.”   Edgar Allan Poe

We all have ups and downs in our lives.  Some days are wonderful, some days are merely okay, and some days try us with difficulty and trouble.  When we’re struggling with complications and problems and our lives are twisted up in confusion we may feel overcome with stress and anxiety as we try to find a way through.  When terrible times come upon us we may feel beset, completely surrounded by trouble, and uncertain we can manage.  But no matter what we’re going through there is always something beneficial for us.   No matter how hard the trial, or how difficult the problem, as we navigate it there will be something positive waiting for us.  We may not see it at first but if we are on the lookout for the one good thing, the one piece that works, or the one bit of information that is helpful, we will find it.  It’s always there and is the blessing to help us through.  It may not be evident at first, and it may not be easy to see but it is there and will lift us and help us through.  We find our true courage when we face difficult trials.  We learn how to solve problems by solving problems.  No life is without difficulty but with each challenge comes a blessing.  Looking for it, finding it and embracing it, will give us added fortitude and power.  There isn’t anything we can’t do and nothing we can’t solve.  Every trial we face makes us stronger and more powerful.  We are invincible and unwavering in courage.

When we are children and things go wrong we may lose our temper, cry, scream or run from the situation.  As we grow and face disappointments along the way we have the opportunity to gain tools that will help us mature and process problems effectively.  If we choose not to face our problems and instead try to hide or push them off onto someone else, or make excuses instead of addressing them, the opportunity for growth is lost.  We can embrace every difficulty that comes to us, take it apart piece by piece and with each step forward find resolution. As we solve each problem our understanding of how life works will deepen and we’ll become stronger and more capable.

Learning to face life bravely takes experience.  If we never have problems we cannot understand how to manage them or overcome them.  Every experience – good and bad – teaches us something and everything we learn works for our benefit.  Even in our darkest hours when we aren’t sure we will survive there is a blessing that will help us.  We can keep our eyes open and actively look for the good in every situation.  When we do, our experience will be embellished and we will have added courage and confidence that we will prevail.  There isn’t anything we can’t do and do well.

Today if you’re facing a big problem and you feel beset and overwhelmed, look for the one thing that is going right.  It’s there for you.  Embrace it and let it lift you and help you along.  You can solve anything and you are strong enough and brave enough to prevail.  Success is always there for you.  You will find the answers and you will win.
