Paying the Piper

16 May

We make all kinds of decisions as we go through our lives. Everyone wants to make good choices that bring us the results we’re seeking. Often, we’re successful but sometimes, because we don’t have all the information or we’re pressured by someone or something to go a certain way, we may falter. If we persist in making foolish choices out of habit or laziness, or if we just don’t pay any attention before we jump, we may find we’ve complicated our lives and have no idea how to correct them. There is an old saying, that if you call the dance you have to pay the piper, meaning for every decision we make, there will be an inescapable consequence. If the result is something we don’t want or can’t face we may deny we made the decision or try to hide from the ramifications of our choice. Denials and running away will never work. In the end, we are accountable for everything we do. Once we have chosen the first step on the path, we also must accept the last. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. If we’ve stumbled and chosen badly, we can stand tall and face whatever happens as a result. We can admit our mistake and then do what is needed to correct our course. If others have been hurt or impacted negatively, we can address each situation and amend our actions. Life is all about learning and we never know what lies ahead. We don’t know everything and each step we take opens our vision a little further. We learn more about where we are, who we are, and where we’re headed as we move ahead. In time, any doubts will clear and we’ll find our way step by step. We can do anything and go anywhere, and we can make excellent choices. The whole world is there for us and with wisdom and patience, we can make it ours.

There isn’t anything we can’t change. Nothing in life is permanent and if we’ve made a mistake in judgement – even a huge one – we can change direction and correct our course. We aren’t doomed forever because we took a wrong turn. Even the direst of situations can be modified and amended until we find resolution. The world won’t end because we made a bad choice. Life will continue and we will survive. Nothing can keep us from success. If we’ve gone the wrong way, we can turn around and start again.

Some people like to play the blame game. When someone does something wrong, they continue to hold it against them and refuse to trust them again. That is their decision and belongs solely to them. If they cannot move beyond what’s happened, we can still continue forward. Blame belongs to those who carry it and cannot keep us from progressing. We can continue on with confidence and make choices that will take us where we want to go until we reach the destinations we desire.

Today if you’ve made a big mistake and it’s caused serious disharmony and disruption, look at the situation clearly and change direction. Mistakes don’t control your life. Correct your course and forgive yourself. You are wise and capable, and can make excellent decisions. Every challenge is manageable and you will find your way. Be confident. You have so much to offer. Step forward and find success.

Tidal Wave

12 Apr

Our lives are a reflection of all the decisions we make. Each choice changes our direction just a little, and as we turn here and there, our trajectory is altered. If we’re honest and try to make the best choices possible, we have a better chance of moving forward toward the goals we want with little interruption. But sometimes we may be impacted by what’s going on around us, or pressured to take a road that isn’t in our best interest. If we go along, we might find we’re headed in a direction that is nowhere near where we want to go. Like a tidal wave that starts with a small disturbance and picks up power as it progresses, one bad decision may seem insignificant at the beginning but then roll onto another, and then another, and before we know it everything is different and we’re far from the path we want to be on. Nobody wants a life filled with trouble and disharmony, and we don’t usually do things intentionally to create problems going forward.  But we may get caught up and choose something without thinking that brings complications and trouble. If we see we’re headed in the wrong direction we can always stop, and redirect the way forward. We’re always in control of our decisions and no matter what’s going on or who else is involved, can choose the paths that take us to the destinations we desire. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time. If we’ve chosen something we don’t want, we can turn around and start again. Every destination is possible and we can be confident in taking control of our actions to ensure we’re going where we want to go.

Powerful people can be very persuasive. If they have influence over us or we admire them, we might agree to do what they want even it we aren’t sure it’s in our best interest. Our decisions belong to us and if things don’t work out, we are the ones accountable for them. We cannot blame others when we make choices that don’t work out, even it they convinced us to follow their lead. We’re always in control of what we do and if we end up where we don’t want to be, can turn around and begin again.

We never know what lies ahead. Sometimes a seemingly insignificant decision can turn into a big problem if others get involved and things develop in ways we couldn’t foresee. One thing always leads to another and we never really know what will happen next. If the road we’re on turns and we end up going the wrong way, we can stop, look at our options, and change direction. Nothing is permanent and we can always change course. We know what we want and are perfectly capable of achieving it. We can do anything and go anywhere. The whole world is there for us and we will succeed.

Today if you’ve made a choice that hasn’t worked in your favor and you’re headed toward something you don’t want, stop and change direction. You’re in control of everything you do. Every destination you desire is possible and you can reach it. Decide where you want to go and start moving forward. You are strong and capable, and nothing is out of reach. Success is still possible and you will prevail.

Not Again

9 Jan

There are times in everyone’s life when it seems everything goes wrong. Our plans won’t work, the people we depended on don’t show, everything is taking more time than we thought and costing more than we allocated, and nothing is going right. If we’ve been dealing with one problem after another and simply can’t move forward, and then something else goes wrong we may feel it’s hopeless and consider just giving up and walking away. The frustration of facing another issue and trying to find a way through may be more than we want to face. If the goal is flexible enough to set aside for now, we can move on to something else and continue forward. But if we must press on and cannot let it go, we’ll have to stand strong and patiently keep going. It isn’t easy to stay the course when the road is filled with trouble and obstacles but no matter where we are or what we’re facing, we can find the answers we need. Every goal is possible but may not be easy to achieve. However, we are stronger than we think we are and even when we’re up against serious trials can continue pushing forward. We can be confident that every tangle will be unraveled, every problem will be solved and we will prevail. There really isn’t anything strong enough to hold us in place indefinitely. We need only hold on a little longer and trust in our personal wisdom and understanding to get through. We can do amazing things and nothing is out of reach. We are perfectly capable of managing whatever we must and finding the way to success.

There will inevitably be times when what we want to accomplish isn’t available when we want to do it. If that happens, we may have to stop where we are and set the goal aside for a while. Everything changes every day and in time we may have the opportunity to return and start again with greater success. Life is sometimes all about timing. What isn’t possible today may come easily tomorrow. We can look at the situation objectively and discern the best way forward. If we can’t get there right now, we can change direction toward something new and return later when things have improved.

Success is not a destination and does not have a timetable. There is no need to rush or worry if the road we’ve been on turns and we have to alter our course. Every step we take moves us forward on the journey toward where we want to go. There is no end to our personal progress and each step forward helps us define our next move. Every experience teaches us something new to take with us and as we advance, we get closer to the person we most want to be. Every dream is possible and with determination and patience we will achieve every goal we set.

Today if everything is going wrong and nothing is working out the way you planned, remember there are many roads to every destination. Nothing can stop you from reaching success. Look at all the options before you and choose your next step forward. Every possibility is there for you. You are amazing and capable, and nothing will keep you from your goal. Step forward with confidence. Success is just ahead.

House of Mirrors

18 Oct

We’re all different and our experiences as we go through our lives make us into the people we become.  Most of us learn from things that go wrong and adjust our lives to prevent making the same mistakes going forward.  But some people have trouble discerning the mistakes they make.  It’s hard for them to understand how their actions connect to what happens to them.  It’s not our place to judge what anyone else does but if we have people like this in our lives, we may be affected.  It’s hard to have a relationship with someone who continually makes choices that bring heartache and trouble.  We may find ourselves continually adjusting to the next disaster and trying to find a way around it.  Although we are only responsible for the decisions we make, we may be seriously impacted by those made by others close to us.  Like paint, they can smear their dysfunction all over our lives and before we know it we may get caught up in their problems in ways that are not helpful.  If we remember we are individuals and have complete ownership over our own decisions, we can stand beside someone who struggles and be supportive without becoming part of the issue.  We can be friends without getting caught up in turmoil and confusion.  Learning to stand beside someone and still stand apart will help us navigate through any difficult relationships we have.  Life isn’t always easy but we have everything we need to find the right road going forward that will bring us comfort and peace.

We don’t know what we don’t know.  Sometimes we may begin a relationship with someone that seems positive and satisfying.  We connect with them, we think we understand them and they seem to understand us.  It’s great to make connections with others that make us feel good and brighten our lives.  But sometimes people hide their true selves and it takes time for their real behaviors to shine through.  When things change, if the turn is dramatic enough, we may feel we’ve entered a house of mirrors.  Nothing is as we thought and we aren’t sure what to do next.  We are always in control of our lives and never have to stay in any situation that is uncomfortable.  We can make a turn and change our lives at any time.

We may get into situations where the people we’re associating with begin to make decisions we aren’t comfortable with.  They are choosing to continue toward a goal we don’t want or their methods are ideas we don’t agree with.  We always have the power to change any relationships in our lives.  We aren’t assigned to others and can move in a new direction away from those near us at any time.  Our lives are ours to design and we can decide how we will proceed.  We can be confident when we make choices that take us where we want to go and courageously continue forward toward success.

Today if you’re in a relationship that isn’t working or have been caught up in a situation that is moving you toward a destination you don’t want, take control.  You know where you want to go and have everything you need to get there.  You don’t have to stay in any situation that isn’t comfortable.  Change direction and move forward toward success.  You can do anything you desire and every option is possible.

Getting Lost

12 Oct

When we know where we’re going and have a clear view of the way forward, we are confident we’ll reach our goal and make our way to the destination.  However, if what we want to accomplish is new we may consider all our options and make a plan for the road ahead, but we really don’t know how things will roll out.  We may take a wrong turn and get confused and lost along the way, and it may take time to figure out how to correct our course to get back on track.  When we get lost we may believe the time we spend trying to find our way again is wasted.  After all, if we had gone the right way to begin with we wouldn’t have spent all that time trying to discern how to proceed.  But instead of seeing time spent trying to find our way forward as time forfeited, we can see it as time invested in learning about what works.  Everything we do teaches us something.  When we get lost and have to explore new possibilities, we have the chance to open doors we may have ignored simply walking past them.  Getting lost allows us to stop and look around and see all the possibilities before us.  We may discover a new road that brings great blessings as it takes us to the destination we desire.  As we consider new possibilities, we may change our focus and decide to push toward something we hadn’t previously considered.  Getting lost isn’t always negative.  New answers and our best ideas may arise as we open our minds to something different.  We can go anywhere we choose, and if the road turns we can still reach our goals.  Nothing is too far away or too difficult to reach.  We have everything we need to do anything we desire.

Maps are helpful when we’re planning a trip and if we take a ruler we can draw a straight line from where we are to where we want to go.  It’s easy to see the path but unfortunately, roads don’t always go in a straight line.  They twist and turn, go around obstacles, switch back to where we were to avoid something in the way, and can cover many more miles than if they went directly from one point to another.  Our lives are the same way.  Rarely will we get from one place to another in a perfectly straight, unbroken line.  There will be complications and detours to navigate, and many distractions, but if we keep our eyes focused on the goal we will succeed.

Getting lost on our journey gives us the opportunity to stop and rethink our plans.  Standing still can open new doors and we can decide if the goal we were seeking is still what we want, or if there are other priorities we would rather pursue.  We can go anywhere we choose and taking time to consider all the options possible will help us make choices that will bring us happiness and satisfaction.  Our lives are ours to design and nothing is impossible.  We can do anything we desire and make every dream reality.

Today if you’ve gotten lost on your way forward and are frustrated thinking you’re wasting time, look around and see all the possibilities before you. You know more now than you did before and have a better idea of what lies ahead.  Choose the road you want the most.  You can reach any goal you desire.  Be confident and step forward.
