Carrying It

25 Feb

Every decision we make has a consequence and expresses who we are. Most of us try to make the best choices every time, but people are complicated, and sometimes because of fear or other influence, we may falter. If we make a bad choice, we carry the impact of it forward with us. If it’s an insignificant situation with people we don’t know, we might be able to ignore it and just move on. However, if it involves those who depend on our integrity and we’ve been dishonest, it will be harder to let it go. We always know what we’ve done and even if we’re able to hide, the burden of carrying something negative forward will become heavy and may hurt us in the long run. Nobody’s perfect and everyone makes mistakes from time to time. If we’ve done something that’s outside the person we want to be, it will never feel right. Carrying guilt forward will become heavy and may prevent us from achieving the goals we most desire. Thankfully, nothing is permanent and we can correct the situation by telling the complete truth, clearing the air and starting again. Owning up to our mistakes and errors in judgement does not diminish us in any way. Course corrections will help us live the lives we want the most. We have the potential to become anything we desire and go anywhere we choose. By living openly and honestly, and owning every decision, the road ahead will always be there and we can make our dreams come true.

Our ethical standards define who we are. We never need to succumb to situational ethics or change our values when our position becomes difficult. Situations never define our choices – we do. Every day will bring us the opportunity to choose and what we do tells the world who we are. We are strong enough to always choose in ways that honor our values. We have everything we need to succeed. By being honest in all our dealings we will achieve our goals and bless everyone around us.

For some, there’s a sliding scale when it comes to ethics and honesty. If they want something badly, they will do whatever it takes to gain it. They justify their behavior through their desires, and don’t care who gets hurt. They take what they want regardless of who is in the way or any consequences that may arise. They may get the prize but the cost will be high. They will lose the trust of those around them and it will be impossible to build strong relationships. We can choose the best road at every turn. Our lives are ours to design and with clarity and honesty, we will find satisfaction and happiness in choosing well.

Today if you’re in a situation that’s pushing you to make a choice you don’t feel good about, hold fast to your standards. You know how to make excellent decisions and need not bend your ethics to get through. Keep your eyes focused on the life you want the most. Show us who you are and set the bar high. You are a blessing to the world and we need your influence. Choose wisely, be confident, and show us the way.

Digging In

13 Feb

Nobody is right all the time. We all make mistakes and choices we regret. Sometimes we go the wrong way and have to correct our course, sometimes we go too far and have to back track, and sometimes we just bomb completely and have to start over. It happens. We’re only human and can only know what we know at any given time. When things go wrong and we discover we’ve made a mistake, we can acknowledge the error and then do what is needed to correct it. But there may be times when although we know we’re wrong, refuse to accept it and dig in, pushing forward defending a position that will not work. Maybe we’re embarrassed or prideful, or think if we keep going the wrong way somehow, magically it will turn into the right way. Whatever our reasons, if we continue moving ahead on the wrong road we will never find success. It’s hard to face any kind of failure but looking at it completely, and determining to correct what is needed is the best way forward. We are always in control of our lives and can change focus at any time. As soon as we see we’re going the wrong way we can turn in a new direction. The world is filled with endless possibilities. Limiting ourselves to only one road and holding fast to it  headed somewhere we don’t want to go, will only bring us sorrow. We can let go of pride and control, and change our lives. Everything is possible if we’re willing to be flexible. Happiness is always there and we can reach it.

Traditions are powerful motivators. If we’re doing something that has been done the same way for a long time we may hold onto it even if it’s not working. We may believe if we stay the course a little longer it will correct itself and we’ll find success. That might happen but if something truly isn’t working, it’s better to step back and find a different option. Things change and what worked in the past may not be feasible anymore. Being open to trying something new or opening a different door may be all that’s needed to take us forward. We have everything necessary to succeed, and embracing all possibilities will help us get there.

Confidence is a great attribute that will carry us through many complicated and difficult times. If we’re confident in our ability to overcome trials we have greater strength moving forward. But confidence in the midst of continual setbacks may keep us from finding new solutions that will take us where we want to go. We can be confident and still humble enough to recognize when things aren’t working and modify our plans. Every option is available and there are endless choices to make. We can change direction when necessary and create a new plan to move us forward. We are capable of great success, and being willing to be flexible will help us achieve it.

Today if you’ve been stalled despite your efforts to push forward, look at all the options available and find the road that will move you ahead. Modify your plans to find success and start again. All the answers are there for you, and you will find them. Redirect your course and you’ll reach your goal. Be open and see everything clearly. Nothing will keep you from the prize.

I Think I Can

22 Feb

In all our lives, there are times when we want to try something new, stretch, and reach for a goal that is beyond where we are. We think about it, we wonder about it, and sometimes it haunts us when we want to do it but haven’t started because we aren’t sure we can. If we want it badly enough, at some point we will have to stop ignoring it and start going for it. It might be a professional goal, or an educational goal, or a physical goal, or it might just be a change we want to make in our lives that will take effort. Whatever it is, before we start going forward and doing what is needed to achieve it, we must believe we can do it. It’s easy to talk ourselves out of trying something new. There are countless reasons not to attempt it. It might be hard. We may have to change our schedules. It may be inconvenient. It may take away from our personal time, or it may take a long time to achieve.  There are a thousand reasons that may come forward to discourage us from trying. But if we want to do anything, no matter what it is, we only need one reason to do it – because we want to.  And all we have to do to start is believe that we can.

We can do anything we want to do, but if we share our dreams or goals with others, we may not get positive support for our decision to try. Our friends and family love us and sometimes they think they know what’s best for us. They don’t mean to quash our dreams when we share them, but they may feel they are protecting us because we might fail. And they are right. We might fail. And if we don’t try failure is a certainty. But we won’t know what we can do unless we try. If we try and fail, we will have learned a lot as we’ve moved forward, and we can use that information to try again. If we believe we can succeed, and try our best, there is a high probability that we’ll conquer the challenge and gain the prize. It may not be easy but we are capable of taking on difficult tasks. It might take a lot of time, but the time will go by even if we aren’t striving for what we want. It might mean we have to change our personal schedules but we can handle that. We can manage anything we need to change to accommodate this challenge. We can go forward with confidence and we can succeed.

Our lives are ours to live any way we choose. We can take the easy road and keep things the same and predictable. There is nothing wrong with that if we don’t want to learn anything new and don’t want to grow. But learning is a gift we give to ourselves. It embellishes who we are, and deepens our understanding of life. Personal growth allows us to understand ourselves and those around us more completely. And that understanding goes a long way in helping us navigate the challenges that come to us. If we want to be the very best we can and get everything out of our experience here on earth we have to be willing to push ourselves. We have to believe we can do anything. If we do, we’ll enlarge our capacity for understanding, and stretch our wings to encompass anything we set out to do. They say faith precedes the miracle. We don’t get faith after we’ve succeeded. We must have faith first. We really can do anything we want to do. Anything is possible. We just have to believe.

Today if you’ve been thinking about trying something new and you really want to achieve it, you can. Start moving forward today. The first step is all you need to take. The next will follow and if you have sufficient faith, you will succeed. There isn’t anything you can’t do. Take the first step today. Let your confidence lead you all the way to the finish line.
