Truth and Freedom

11 Sep

We go through many experiences as we navigate the ins and outs of life. Some things go well, other times we struggle, it may be easy to find the answers or we may get lost. There are limitless complications that may arise, unforeseen developments that suddenly alter the situation and we are constantly adapting and adjusting to the changes around us. We never know what will happen next and as we step forward on whatever path we’ve chosen we try to make the best choices to bring us the outcomes we desire. If we get tangled up in situations where there is dishonesty it may cloud our vision for a time but truth always rises and becomes clear. Once we know what is real and can see things as they truly are we are free to make our next decision. Truth will always untie the bonds created by dishonesty and open the way forward. When we know what is real and see everything openly we can plan effectively and reach whatever destinations we’ve chosen. Dishonesty and lies may open the way in the beginning but in the end always bind us up and hold us back. They muddy the waters, bring confusion and contradiction, and keep us from moving forward. We can choose to be clear and truthful about everything in our lives and enjoy the freedom that honesty brings. Truth is truth and nothing we do or say can change it. Facing things as they are and accepting what is real will empower us and help us reach our goals. Nothing will pave the way more effectively and people will trust us and honor us when we are truthful and honest in all our dealings.

Honesty is an absolute. It will never work to be somewhat or mostly honest in our dealings. We’re either truthful or we aren’t. Every situation we face will be impacted by the way we handle it. We have all the wisdom and insight we need to make the best decisions going forward and all the courage we need to be completely honest as we go. Embracing what is real gives us power and helps us understand anything before us. Nothing will ever be as effective as choosing to be clear and honest in everything we do.

There may be times when we are tempted – just this once – to lie in an effort to move forward. Maybe we believe it will help us open a door we’ve been struggling with or enable us to influence someone we want on our side. We can do anything we like and every decision is ours to make but lying one time makes it easier to lie again. Once we open that box it may be hard to close it again and each deception will take us further from who we really want to be. We’re smart enough to figure out any situation and manage it honestly. There is never a need to sacrifice our integrity to get to a goal. All options are possible and staying true to our best standards will help us achieve them.

Today if you’re tempted to lie to get through a complicated situation, remember truth is the only way to freedom. The confidence you gain by being honest is a priceless asset. There is nobility and greatness in you. Magnify them and choose wisely. You can do anything and reach any goal you desire. Be the best you can be and all the doors will open for you.

Passing

27 Aug

There are unlimited opportunities to try, new things to experience and different activities to participate in throughout our lives.  We may be eager to take on some of them and others we may do simply because of where we are and what’s going on.  Our choices are ours to make but sometimes because of the situation we’re in we may feel pressured to do something we don’t want or go somewhere we’d rather avoid.  Those around us may suggest something because they think it’ll be good for us or will move us forward toward a goal we’ve been seeking.  They may be right but ultimately we know ourselves better than anyone else and if we don’t want to participate, we can pass.  There are all kinds of opinions out there and we can listen to them and take whatever we feel is helpful, letting the others go.  We are always in control of our lives and can go along and take all the suggestions offered, or stay where we are and determine our own road forward.  It’s good to participate with others when that participation gives us something we desire or need.  But if we want to go a different way, we can step back and choose our own path.  We don’t always have to swim upstream but sometimes going in a different direction than everyone else is the only way to our goals.  Our lives are ours to design and we are responsible for every decision we make.  If we go along when we don’t want to and end up somewhere we didn’t want to go, we own it.  We’re wise enough to know how we want to proceed.  Every choice we make will take us somewhere.  Making the choices that take us where we most want to go will bring us satisfaction and happiness.

There can be a lot of pressure to go along when we’re in a group.  Sometimes if we’re in a situation where they have authority over us we may need to comply.  But most of the time we can choose our own path.  Even if everyone else wants us to go along, if it’s not something we desire, we can go another way.  We can let others make their own choices and move forward without us.  Our experiences are unique to our personal lives and we determine our personal destinations.  We can be in control and make the decisions that take us where we want to go the most.

It’s nice to have others around us as we navigate through our days but there may be times when our desires require us to move forward alone.  We all chart our own courses and have all the courage and determination we need to succeed at anything we choose.  We can find the way forward by ourselves and reach any goal we desire.  We determine what our lives will be even if it’s different than what others want for us.  The roads we take are ours to choose and every destination is possible.  We can make all our dreams come true by focusing on what’s most important and then doing what it takes to get there.

Today if you’re being pressured to do something you really don’t want to do, remember you know yourself better than anyone else.  You know what you want and what you need.  Be confident and choose the paths that will open the doors to your goals.  You can do anything.  The whole world is there for you and every dream can come true.

Mirage

19 May

We all have things we want to accomplish, dreams we want to pursue and goals we want to achieve.  We can plan for them and work toward them until we succeed and sometimes when we get to the destination everything is exactly like we thought it would be.  Other times we may arrive and discover the goal we were after isn’t exactly what we expected.  Like a mirage in the desert something may look good from a distance but upon closer inspection is a bit different.  If we’ve worked hard for a long time to achieve the goal and then discover it isn’t what we want after all we may be disappointed or feel we’ve been cheated.  We can’t know everything from the beginning but if we pay attention as we move along there are often clues that will give us more information about the road we’re on.  If we simply storm ahead sure of ourselves, we may find in the end we’ve reached a destination that isn’t anything like what we want.  Everything we do changes us in some way and as we’re moving forward our lives are evolving and we may find what we sought at the beginning isn’t what we want now.  We can turn our course and change direction any time we’re ready.  There are countless roads that lead to happiness.  Which one we choose depends on where we want to go and what we want to become.  The whole world belongs to those who take it.  We can do anything and go anywhere. If we’ve reached a place that doesn’t fit we can turn our course and begin again.

Few things in life are permanent and unchangeable.  Most ideas and decisions can be changed and modified if needed.  If we are open and honest with ourselves and clearly see what isn’t working we can modify our plans to find happiness.  If we aren’t happy we need not stay in any situation and if we don’t feel fulfilled and content we may change whatever is needed to correct our course.  We may leave a relationship, a job, move to a different location or open a new door.  Whatever is needed to find joy in our lives is available to us and we have enough courage and wisdom to move forward to get it.

Some situations are very alluring and captivating.  Like a mirage in the distance they call to us and we may be consumed with attaining them.  We can make all our dreams come true but first we must be sure that what we’re seeing is exactly what we want.  Do we really want what’s at the end of that road?  Are we sure we are willing to do what is needed to achieve it?  Being clear on what is required to move forward and then making our decision will enable us to find success.  We can take the time we need to make the best decisions for our future and then plan our way forward. We can be wise and careful and find the happiness we seek.

Today if you’ve been working hard to reach a goal but aren’t sure it’s exactly what you’re seeking, take a moment to think before you proceed.  See all your options clearly and choose the road that’s best going forward.  You know what you want and are wise enough to make excellent choices.  Happiness is there for you.  Look for it, plan for it and then begin forward to achieve it.

Limits

27 Mar

Life is full of opportunities for growth and learning.  We all have limits we are aware of and some we haven’t yet discovered, but no matter where those limits lie we can push them and stretch them further.  A small life takes little effort to achieve.  We can coast and be comfortable and never try anything new.  It might be simpler to live that way but choosing to stay within pre-set limits restricts us from learning and growing in new ways.  We never really know what we can do if we never step beyond where we’ve been.  We are capable of doing anything we want but it may mean pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones and pressing further than we’ve tried before.  As we stretch forward we may be uncomfortable because we’re in foreign territory and aren’t sure what will happen.  We have enough courage to try anything we really want to do and enough temerity to face any challenge we must to get to a destination.  There are countless things to do and learn, limitless possibilities for our lives and endless chances to try new things.  We can recognize our limits and push forward right through them to something new.  Our lives can be richer and fuller and we can make all our dreams come true.

There is safety in knowing where we are and what to expect.  We know how things will likely go and we feel ready because we’ve been there before.  It’s good to feel safe and we may appreciate the stability of sameness in our lives.  Sameness creates routine and we may change our routines any time we choose.  They are created by repetition and when we’re ready we can start doing things differently and develop new patterns.  It just takes one step in a new direction to change our trajectory a little to the left or right.  One step may open new doors for us and push us in a new direction that will bring fresh opportunities and people into our lives.

Some people change constantly.  They cannot tolerate sameness and are quickly bored.  They push forward and engage in new activities as a matter of course.  Their lives are broad in scope and wide in interpretation because they have opened many doors and continually allowed new ideas to shape them.  We don’t have to push our limits that far to stretch a little further.  We can be open to new experiences at our own pace and learn new things as we feel comfortable.  We can allow new ideas and new patterns to enrich our experiences and help us stretch and learn.  The world has a lot to offer.  We can grab onto new ideas that teach us new things and allow us to grow.

Today if you’ve been keeping your life close and small, take a look around and see what’s there for you.  Open the door a little wider and step a little further away from what is comfortable.  You’ll be amazed at what you discover and how far you can go.  There isn’t anything you can’t do when you’re ready.  Take the first step today.  The whole world is there waiting for you.  Step out and discover something new.

Outside Ourselves

14 Mar

Sometimes things go wrong, our life gets turned upside down, and we become stressed.  Maybe there’s too much going on we need to address, or the plans we made fell through and we’re struggling to find our way. Life isn’t always easy and sometimes the road gets rocky. We may feel overwhelmed, lost, scared, or exhausted as we try to navigate the situation, and the last thing we want is to face anything else. It may seem strange but the best thing to do at times like these is to reach outside ourselves and offer help to someone else. It’s virtually impossible to think about our problems when we’re doing something for others. We can’t be focused on what’s going wrong in our lives when we’re trying to help make something right for someone else. Taking the time to serve removes us from the things that are holding us down, and brings us comfort and peace. We can return to our issues later and they’ll still be there. But often if we take time out to serve, when we return to our problems they don’t seem quite so looming or difficult, and we find we can manage them a bit better.

It’s not possible to intensely ponder two situations at once. We can only carefully think about one at a time. If we’re stressed about something and turn our attention to someone else, they become our focus. It doesn’t matter what we do to serve, and there are limitless ways we can help out. For instance, imagine a friend needed food but had no way to get to the store and we offered to take them – it would be a great blessing. Personal service need not be extremely time consuming or difficult. We can do whatever is needed. And if we help, the other person isn’t the only one who benefits. We also receive blessings as we take a break from obsessing over our problems. It’s a win for both.

When we’re under water with an issue that’s concerning us, the last thing we want is more to do. We’re already busy and we have a lot on our minds. We may not think offering help to someone else will bring us respite, but that’s often what happens.  Serving others isn’t just another chore to accomplish. When we serve, we focus on something else, get closer to those around us, and build relationships. As we build friendships we learn more about ourselves. Those we help will trust us and feel our care. We all need each other. We’re connected to one another in ways we can’t always see.  When we’re wrapped up in our own lives we may forget that. Opening the door to service helps us remember. Nobody knows what the future will bring and life changes constantly. It’s possible that although we’re serving today, it may happen in the future that we’ll be the ones in need, and someone will help us.  It’s give and take each day of our lives.  The more we give, the more blessings we’ll take away.

Today if you’re overwhelmed with issues that are concerning and you feel stressed, look around and see where you can help someone else. Take a break from your pressures to serve. You’ll be amazed at how good you’ll feel and how refreshed you’ll be when you return. There isn’t anything you can’t handle. You have so much to offer. Offer it today.
