Getting Lost

12 Oct

When we know where we’re going and have a clear view of the way forward, we are confident we’ll reach our goal and make our way to the destination.  However, if what we want to accomplish is new we may consider all our options and make a plan for the road ahead, but we really don’t know how things will roll out.  We may take a wrong turn and get confused and lost along the way, and it may take time to figure out how to correct our course to get back on track.  When we get lost we may believe the time we spend trying to find our way again is wasted.  After all, if we had gone the right way to begin with we wouldn’t have spent all that time trying to discern how to proceed.  But instead of seeing time spent trying to find our way forward as time forfeited, we can see it as time invested in learning about what works.  Everything we do teaches us something.  When we get lost and have to explore new possibilities, we have the chance to open doors we may have ignored simply walking past them.  Getting lost allows us to stop and look around and see all the possibilities before us.  We may discover a new road that brings great blessings as it takes us to the destination we desire.  As we consider new possibilities, we may change our focus and decide to push toward something we hadn’t previously considered.  Getting lost isn’t always negative.  New answers and our best ideas may arise as we open our minds to something different.  We can go anywhere we choose, and if the road turns we can still reach our goals.  Nothing is too far away or too difficult to reach.  We have everything we need to do anything we desire.

Maps are helpful when we’re planning a trip and if we take a ruler we can draw a straight line from where we are to where we want to go.  It’s easy to see the path but unfortunately, roads don’t always go in a straight line.  They twist and turn, go around obstacles, switch back to where we were to avoid something in the way, and can cover many more miles than if they went directly from one point to another.  Our lives are the same way.  Rarely will we get from one place to another in a perfectly straight, unbroken line.  There will be complications and detours to navigate, and many distractions, but if we keep our eyes focused on the goal we will succeed.

Getting lost on our journey gives us the opportunity to stop and rethink our plans.  Standing still can open new doors and we can decide if the goal we were seeking is still what we want, or if there are other priorities we would rather pursue.  We can go anywhere we choose and taking time to consider all the options possible will help us make choices that will bring us happiness and satisfaction.  Our lives are ours to design and nothing is impossible.  We can do anything we desire and make every dream reality.

Today if you’ve gotten lost on your way forward and are frustrated thinking you’re wasting time, look around and see all the possibilities before you. You know more now than you did before and have a better idea of what lies ahead.  Choose the road you want the most.  You can reach any goal you desire.  Be confident and step forward.

High Expectations

4 Oct

Everyone has their own ideas about the best way to do things and how we should accomplish our tasks. Sometimes we may be asked to do things for those around us. If we work for them or they have some authority over us we may be compelled to agree. If not, we may decide if we want to do what’s asked, and if we do, how we will go about accomplishing it. If those who ask us have high expectations about how quickly we’ll get the task completed or specific ideas about how we’ll take care of it and we aren’t in agreement, we may feel uncomfortable. If we’re pressed get through faster than we think we can, and are sure we can’t meet the deadline they’ve set, we may feel stressed and worried about the outcome. It’s possible to be asked to get something done in an impossible time frame. If we’re not the ones completing the task and going through all the details and complications to manage it, we won’t have a complete understanding of everything required. It’s easy to make decisions about how things should be done looking in from the outside, but there is no way to know what’s really happening unless we’re involved in the process. If we’re in a situation where the expectations given don’t match the reality we’re facing we may feel great pressure to do something that may not be possible. Expectations can always be set but reality will never bend to meet them. We can be confident in our progress despite what others think we should be doing.  If we do our best to accomplish the task we can be happy even if we don’t meet the time parameters given. We can set our own expectations about what can be done and logically and wisely continue forward.

When someone says we should be able to do something, they are basing their ideas on their own experiences and personal judgement. Our personal interpretations and understanding are unique to our own experiences. What works for one person is not feasible for another. When others tell us how they think we should do something, we can listen and take from their comments anything that will help us, but how we proceed is our decision. We are smart enough to figure anything out. We can move forward using the skills we’ve learned and do what works best for us.

Everyone sees the world through their own prism of understanding. Our life experiences color our perceptions and everyone has their own ideas about what is best. We know ourselves perfectly and we know what we want in our lives. We can make decisions that will take us where we want to go, in a time frame that works for us. Our lives are ours to design and every decision is ours to make. We know who we are. Trusting our instincts and choosing the roads we want will bring us fulfillment and happiness.

Today if you’ve been trying to do the impossible because someone has asked you to, step back and look at the situation openly and objectively. You are competent and intelligent enough to discern if you need to change your plans to reach the goal. Trust yourself to find the best way forward. You are amazing and capable, and can accomplish anything you desire. Be wise and move forward with confidence.

Shape Shifter

1 Oct

There are endless possible expressions we can adopt in our lives.  We’re exposed to all kinds of people doing all kinds of things all the time.  It’s like shopping in a huge, diverse shopping mall with unlimited variations to every situation we could imagine.  There are many types of behaviors and interpretations, and when we come across something we like we can make it our own.  We can create any type of life we desire, fit into a group we admire, adjust our appearance to look like those we want to emulate and make any other changes we want at any time.  It’s possible to project any image we like even if it doesn’t represent ourselves accurately.  Modifying to fit in or go along so we can get something we desire is always an option.  We can live any way we choose and pretending to be something we’re not may get us where we want to go at first but being authentic about who we are is the only option that will bring us lasting happiness.  Shapeshifting to match those around us will only make us more like others.  It will never clarify our most personal desires or help us find our unique way forward.  We aren’t like anyone else in the world and are the only ones who can share our personal expressions and gifts.  If we choose to set our individuality aside in an effort to blend in, the world will never know all the blessings we might bring.  Our individual worth is priceless and everything we do brings something new to the world.  We don’t have to change who we are to find success.  We are valuable as we are and can be confident, even if we’re different, that our input and interactions will bring benefit and joy to those around us.

It’s often easier to get along as a group if everyone is the same but if we’re all exactly the same there will be nothing new to learn.  There are unlimited expressions and interpretations possible and being willing to explore them, listen to them, and embrace them will bring great depth and understanding to our lives.  The world is filled with differences and each person has something important to offer.  We don’t have to be the same as everyone else to be valued.  We can be ourselves and trust that we are not only good enough, but excellent and an important part of the world around us.

When we want to do things differently than those around us, we may keep our opinions to ourselves in an effort to prevent disharmony.  We can hold our cards close to the chest for as long as we like but eventually our differences will show.  When they do, if we’re challenged, we may confidently express our viewpoints and move forward even if we’re in opposition.  Our lives are ours to design and we may live them any way we choose.  We never need to become someone we aren’t and are entitled to our individuality and independence.  Variety brings refreshment and wonderment, and we can be exactly who we are and move forward with confidence.

Today if you’ve been shapeshifting in an effort to blend in, remember your personal uniqueness brings great value to those around you.  Be confident and be yourself.  Show us who you really are and share your unique individuality.  The gifts you bring are yours alone to give and the world is blessed because you are here.

Standing Alone

31 Aug

It’s great to have the support of others when making difficult decisions.  Knowing there are those around us who understand our situation can make it easier to choose and help us find the right way forward.  But sometimes we may make a decision nobody else agrees with.  Perhaps there is something they don’t want to face, or they feel they know the situation better than we do and have a more effective solution than we’ve chosen.  Or they may simply dislike the direction we want to travel.  We don’t need agreement or support for any decisions we make, and we don’t have follow everyone else if we want to turn another way.  We are the only ones who know ourselves and our situation completely and are perfectly capable of making excellent choices.  However, in a difficult situation where the road ahead may have serious complications, if our decision doesn’t go along with what others want, we may stand alone.  It’s not easy to be the only one who wants to go in a different direction and if we’re criticized because of our choice we may lose some personal connections.  We should always be true to what is most important to us and value the standards and choices we make.  If we differ from those around us we are strong and confident enough to take any push back that comes our way.  Our lives belong completely to us and we can live them any way we desire.  We can make our dreams come true by choosing the roads that take us to them, even if we must go alone.

People are often most comfortable around others who are like them.  If we’re different, the pressure to conform may be great.  It will always be easier to go along with those around us than to forge our own path forward.  There is comfort in the herd but we can never completely be ourselves if we’re simply doing what everyone else is doing.  Breaking away and taking our own personal road is the only way to reach our goals and make our dreams come true.  We don’t need to worry about being alone.  We know what we want and where we want to go, and nothing can stop us from finding success.

Everyone defines success their own way.  For some it’s simply getting through the day without trouble.  For others it means to reach for the highest peak possible.  The ideas of others belong to them and need not become ours unless we want them.  There are infinite possibilities in every life and we can decide where our priorities lie and what is most important to us.  We can make any decisions we like and take any road we desire.  There may be others traveling with us or we may take a solo journey.  In either case, our determination and courage will take us to the destinations we choose and we’ll find the success we seek.

Today if you’re standing alone because you’ve chosen a path others don’t want to take, be confident.  You know where you want to go and you have everything you need to move forward.  You have endless potential and nothing is out of reach.  Have courage, and remember how wise and strong you are.  You can do anything.  All your dreams are possible and you can make them come true.

Overdrawn

23 Aug

Most of us don’t have unlimited amounts of money and are so rich we don’t have to track or be concerned about what we spend. Generally, we have to carefully watch our expenditures so we don’t get overdrawn in our accounts and cause problems. There are unlimited things to buy and it takes continued diligence and attention to make sure we stay solvent and manage our transactions. Everyone understands this idea when it comes to money but we may not see it when it comes to our personal well-being. There is give and take in everything and no matter what’s involved, if we give away more than we take in we’ll be overdrawn. If we are working hard at our jobs and doing the best we can and yet our superiors never recognize or thank us for our efforts, we may feel unappreciated and unvalued. In our relationships, if we give our time and consideration to someone who never follows through or reciprocates in ways that show they love us, we may feel unfulfilled and unhappy. In every situation if we’re giving our time, efforts, and attention and receive nothing in return, eventually we’ll feel the loss and may give up altogether. We’re all valuable and important and if those around us fail to notice or show their appreciation for what we’re doing and who we are, we can change the situation. We never have to stay anywhere we aren’t happy and can move forward in a new direction. Our lives are precious. We can do what we need to find complete happiness and satisfaction in every arena. If we’re overdrawn, we can stop spending our assets and move forward with confidence.

Some people are natural givers. They like to serve others and help whenever they can. It’s normal for them to offer their time and energy when they see a need, and they find great reward in serving others. It’s noble to help others and reach out in kindness, and when we can our lives will be enriched. But there is a tipping point in every scenario and if we reach the place where we’re giving and giving and still there is more need, we can step back and realistically evaluate how much more we can offer. We can sacrifice our time and still recognize and honor our personal needs. We need not give to the point of complete exhaustion. We’re in control and can ensure we aren’t giving so much to help others that we’re hurting ourselves in the process.

Our personal needs are important and deserve our attention. Taking care of ourselves is the most important thing we do every day. It’s difficult to serve others when we’re exhausted and worn out. If we take the time we need to be healthy, rested and strong we will be more effective and helpful. We can always take time to restore and recharge. By being wise and mindful not to overdraw our personal account we’ll ensure we are ready when a need arises and prepared to help.

Today if you’ve been giving too much in a situation and feel drained and worn out, step away and take the time you need to restore. You are important and valuable, and there isn’t anyone else like you in all the world. You are a great blessing and bring amazing gifts to us all. Be wise and take the best care of yourself. You’ll feel better and stronger, and more confident moving forward.
