Ghosts

18 Jul

Our lives are a compilation of all our experiences, and we become who we are as we learn going through everything that happens.  Sometimes it’s easy and there is sunshine and cake, but other times the clouds roll in and we get caught in a mire of difficulty, confusion and trouble.  There is no predicting what will happen next and what’s in the past is tattooed on our history forever.  There may be times when something painful from before returns and demands our attention.  Lots of things can go wrong and remembering a bad experience can bring all the painful feelings back in an instant.  Doubt, sorrow, grief, and despair may revisit us and remind us of what we thought we’d left behind.  As we remember what happened and how we felt we may review again and again our actions and try to figure out what went wrong.  There is no way to change the past and if we’ve been hurt, the ghosts of the memory may come again and again until we finally let them go.  There is no way to move forward and hold onto the past at the same time.  When we’re ready we can look at everything clearly, accept that our lives have changed, set the heartache down, and walk away.  Letting go doesn’t mean we have to forget what we’ve learned.  We can carry the lessons forward with us to help us navigate the future and deepen our understanding of life.  We deserve complete happiness and allowing ourselves to leave pain behind and move forward will bring it.

Every problem has a solution but there may be times when the only way to end a problem is to change course.  We can leave a bad relationship that brings us pain and suffering, a job that is unfulfilling or demeaning, or a connection with someone that is destructive.  Once we identify what the problem is we can begin to find the answers we need to address it.  If the answer requires a big change in our lives it will take determination and courage to bring it about.  It doesn’t matter how hard it is to resolve any issue.  We have all the courage and strength we need to do whatever is necessary to correct our course and find happiness.

Everything we experience becomes part of who we are and goes forward with us forever.  How we manage the memories is up to us.  There is no need to go back and dissect every action, every word, or every outcome.  We are not perfect and when we look back there will be things we wish we could change.  But the past is behind us and cannot be altered.  There is no need to carry every disappointment forward.  We can learn everything possible from the experience and continue on with confidence.

Today if there are ghosts from the past reminding you of things that went wrong, be confident and let them go.  What’s behind you is gone and will not return.  Take everything you’ve learned going forward and continue toward your dreams.  You are incredible and wise, and nothing will stop you from succeeding.  Everything is possible and you will reach every goal you desire.  Nothing can keep you from success.

Adjusting the Compass

17 Jul

We share the world with billions of other people.  There are often people around us and their influence is continually present.  We hear what they say, we see what they do and each interaction, no matter how benign, will impact us in some way.  We all have ideas about what is right and wrong and how we want to live our lives.  If we are surrounded by others whose ideas are far different from ours, as we engage with them we may find we begin to adopt their behaviors and practices.  We are always changing and everything we see and do alters our patterns in some way.  Our personal compass points where we direct it.  We decide what kind of people we will be, where we’ll go, and what we’ll do.  If we keep our compass pointed in the direction we most want to proceed we will find satisfaction in reaching our goals.  However, the influence of others and things that happen around us may bump the needle toward something we didn’t plan on and if we simply follow along we may find we end up somewhere we never intended to go.  We are always in control of our lives and if we find we’re walking away from the road we desire most we can turn around and change direction.  There is a lot of noise in the world, but if we pay attention to what we’re doing and watch where we’re going we will stay true to the course we want to travel.  With diligence and preparation success is always possible.  We can accomplish anything we desire by adjusting our compass when needed and continuing forward with confidence.

Charismatic people are very influential.  It’s easy to get caught up and lose our direction when they want something from us.  They may try to persuade us to follow them and it may be hard to turn them down.  If we go forward with them we may be pulled away from the path that takes us to the personal goals we’ve set.  Our compass may be modified or stop working altogether.  Following someone else will take us places but they will always be places others have chosen.  If we want to achieve the things we want the most we must choose the road specific to our dreams.  We can do anything and by directing our lives we will reach every goal we desire.

When we’ve been pursuing a destination for a while and have had to overcome many obstacles to continue forward, it’s natural to get tired.  Sometimes the shine of the goal fades in the struggle to push forward.  There is no rush to reach our objectives.  We can rest and regroup at any time.  If we need refreshment we can take it.  Our dreams will always be there for us and when we’re ready to start again, the road will be waiting.  We can do anything we desire.  No achievement is too difficult or too far to reach.  By adjusting our compass and staying true to the way forward we can go anywhere.

Today if you’ve gotten caught up in something that’s taken you off course, step back and focus on what you want the most.  You know the way forward.  Turn your course toward the dreams you desire and start again.  Every goal is possible and you will prevail.  The road is waiting for you and you will succeed.

Just and True

16 Jul

We are all accountable for everything we do.  When we make decisions that work out well we may feel great satisfaction that we chose wisely.  We are capable of making excellent choices but we aren’t perfect and there will be times when we may choose something that doesn’t go the way we want it to.  If we make decisions that bring unhappiness or negatively impact our lives or those around us, we may feel the ramifications going forward.  Life is complex and there are often many factors involved in every decision we make. If we’re dishonest and blatantly do things to hurt others or deceive, we may try to deflect our involvement by making excuses or blaming others.  If we choose badly we may point to the influence of those around us, or the stress we’ve been under, or the complications of the decision that were misleading, or even the weather.  All the excuses may be valid but we still own the decision.  It is right and just to be accountable for what we do.  If we want to live honestly we must accept that justice – even if it means we will suffer – must prevail.  Reasons and excuses for a bad decision may bring understanding of how the choice was made but they cannot change the result.  We are going to make mistakes and when we do we can accept the error, learn all we can from it, do what is needed to correct our course, amend anything we’ve damaged, and move forward.  We can be honest in accepting our part and take what we’ve learned with us to help us in the future.

After a bad decision we might distract those around us from the truth by creating a lot of noise blaming others or the situation.  We might get a pass if we are loud and convincing enough but nothing can change the past and what has happened will remain.  If we refuse to openly admit the error and look at it clearly we won’t learn anything from the experience.  They say those who refuse to learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them, and that’s likely true.  If we don’t use the experience as a teaching tool, we may repeat the same behaviors again and again, even if they bring us hardship.  Instead, we can determine to see everything completely and learn as much as possible so we don’t suffer through the same situation again.

When we’re responsible for a situation that turns out badly, we may try to deny our part in the mess as a way of escaping accountability.  We may be able to fool others for a while but truth always rises.  Denial simply delays the inevitable.  Everyone makes mistakes and there is no need to pretend things are different than they are.  We are capable of managing any situation and if we’ve stumbled we can right ourselves and start again.

Today if you’ve made a decision that has brought you trouble, look at the situation openly and honestly.  Be accountable for your actions and do what is needed to correct your way forward.  You are wise and capable of making excellent choices.  Don’t let a mistake hold you back.  Be confident and start again.  Success is always possible and you will reach it.

False Start

13 Jul

There are times in everyone’s life when we desire a change.  Maybe we want a new location, a new job, a new situation or just a new attitude.  We always have the power to change anything at any time but all changes require discipline and determination.  We can’t just wish for something to be different and expect it to happen.  If we really want the change we must make a plan and work to move toward the goal.  If what we’re seeking requires us to alter patterns in our lives that we’ve held for a while, it may be difficult at first to adapt to new behavior.  It’s always easy to simply return to what we know and let go of the idea for something new.  If our first attempt at change fails and we really want to achieve the goal we can try again.  There is no limit to the number of times we can try to change anything and a previous false start doesn’t mean we can’t find success.  We can have the lives we want the most but chances are they won’t simply fall into our laps.  Every possibility is available if we’re willing to do what is needed to make it happen.  Dreaming about how our lives could be will never bring them to us.  We must decide what we want, determine what it will take to achieve it, and then begin forward working to accomplish what we must to find success.  If we get distracted and step off the road we can re-route our way back again and continue forward.  It doesn’t matter how long it takes us to reach the goal.  We can move a little closer every day and in time we’ll succeed.  Anything is possible.  Our lives are ours to design and we can create them in ways that bring us complete happiness and satisfaction.

Sometimes we fall into routines we don’t plan on simply because one thing leads to another and before we realize it we are in a position we didn’t expect.  If we don’t control our lives, other situations will.  We can go along for the ride for as long as we like but if we aren’t completely happy where we are we have the power to stop and change direction.  We deserve the lives we want the most and with focus and determination we can achieve them.

We can dream about how our lives would be if everything went our way, and we can hope somehow our dreams will come true.  If all we had to do to reach our goals was think about them we could have anything we wanted at any time.  But this is real life and few things will fall into our laps without effort.  We can have the lives we dream about but we must be willing to work for them.  If we try and fail, we can try again.  There are endless roads before us and with determination we can find the one that will take us to the destination we desire.  Every dream is possible and nothing is out of reach.  We are strong enough and smart enough to achieve anything.

Today if you feel like a failure because you tried to make a change and didn’t succeed, don’t give up.  Failure just means you haven’t yet found the right way forward.  Try again.  The possibilities are endless and you will succeed.  Every dream is possible. You are capable and amazing.  Begin again and you’ll reach the goal.

Defining the Deal

12 Jul

Every single person on earth is different. There are all kinds of personalities and temperaments, endless expressions and ideas, and no two people are exactly alike. What one loves, another despises, what brings pleasure to one, brings frustration to another. We may believe our interpretations are right but actually they are only right for us. When we’re growing up in our first family, the patterns and traditions we learn seem to be the only way to live. But as we grow and are exposed to the world we learn that everyone has their own ideas about how life works and what they do. When we must face an extreme difficulty and are having trouble finding our way it may be a big deal for us to process. We may struggle to find our footing and reach out to those around us for advice and help. Someone may look at our situation and feel it’s ridiculous and our worries are unfounded. Perhaps what we’re going through seems insignificant, and it might be if it happened to them. But it’s not happening to them, it’s happening to us and everybody’s life experience is different. What’s meaningless to one may be crucial to another. We are the only ones who know how important any issue is to us. We are the ones who define the deal and decide if it’s important and far reaching or something less we can manage and move on. It doesn’t matter if everyone around us sees things differently, we can define any issue in ways that make sense to us and find our way through.

When we’re struggling it doesn’t help to have someone diminish our feelings. Telling us we shouldn’t feel one way or another is futile and ineffective. Our feelings often come unbidden and may be intense and painful. While we may not always be able to control how we feel we can control what we do. We can listen to whatever advice we deem helpful, learn as much as possible about the situation and then decide how to move forward. We have all the intelligence and wisdom we need to figure out any issue and find the answers we need.

When we’re facing a big decision or our situation is fraught with complications and it’s hard to see the way ahead, doubts may creep in and we may find it hard to move forward. When there are a lot of things going wrong we may get jumbled up in the noise and confusion and struggle to figure out what to do. We never have to solve everything all at once. We need only look at where we want to begin. Every problem has a solution and even if it’s a big deal and very complex we can solve it. We are smart enough and strong enough to do anything.

Today if you’re facing a big challenge and feel daunted and unsure, decide on the first step you want to take. You don’t have to find all the answers today. Simply determine how to begin and take the first step forward. The solutions are there and with patience and diligence you will find them all. You are amazing and nothing is too difficult for you. Be confident. You know what you want and you will prevail.
