What it Takes

4 Dec

When we really want to change something about ourselves we have be willing to do what is necessary to make it a reality.  Some believe people don’t ever change and many times that’s true.  It’s certainly easier to coast through our lives and do nothing to better ourselves than it is to strive for excellence.  We can have any kind of lives we desire.  If we’re content being who we are and keeping things the same, we may.  But if we want to see how far we can go and really push ourselves toward excellence we must pay attention and purposely go forward with intent.  It takes time and vigilance to make a change that becomes part of who we are.  We can dream about being different and hope that somehow something will happen to simply create the changes we desire.  Wishing and dreaming will never bring us what we want but if we don’t put forth any effort, that’s as far as we’ll go.  There is nothing we can’t achieve if we want it badly enough.  There is no change too difficult or impossible to reach.  If we are determined to turn something in our lives, and we are intent on making the change a reality, we will succeed.  It won’t happen overnight and it may not be easy but we have everything we need to get to the goal.  True happiness comes when we achieve the life we want the most.  Deciding what that means and doing what is needed to make it happen will bring us great satisfaction and contentment.

It’s comfortable to be around situations with which we are already familiar.  We know what to expect, we may know all the players involved, and we feel confident we can manage whatever develops.  It’s nice to be comfortable and we can do the same things every day if that’s as far as we want to go.  But life is full of possibilities and no matter where we are today if we want something different we can get it.  There are endless new experiences available to us and nothing can stop us from having them.  There is so much to be found if we’re willing to step off our regular path and try something new.  We can open any doors we desire and go to new destinations.  The world is there for us and if we want to move, nothing can keep us in place.

There will always be some risk when we want to change something.  We can’t see the future and the road ahead is unknown.  Things may go exactly as we think they will or we may face completely unexpected developments.  It doesn’t matter what we face, we have everything we need to figure out any situation that comes to us.  We are smarter and braver than we think we are and nothing will stop us from succeeding.  We can embrace any change we desire and do what is needed to make it ours.  The world belongs to us and there isn’t anything we can’t do.

Today if you’ve been dreaming of something different but are unsure, be confident and take the first step toward the goal.  You have everything you need to do anything you want.  Every dream is possible and nothing will keep you from success.  You are powerful and strong, and nothing is out of reach.  Step forward and make all your dreams come true.

Blocked Number

30 Mar

Getting a call from a blocked number is like playing one-sided tag. Someone is there to tag us but we can’t return the favor. They are invisible and we can’t call them back. If we block our number before we call someone we can find them but they can’t find us. It’s a control mechanism we may employ to protect our privacy and keep our information secret. While there may be appropriate times to block ourselves before we reach out, often it’s done to keep us apart and separate. It’s a one-sided game. The caller is protected and locked away. We may meet people who are very good at telling us what they want, and defining what works for them but unable to hear us when we express our feelings in return. They know how to ask for their needs but seem unable to hear the needs of others. If we only see ourselves and what we want and only focus on our own road ahead ignoring those around us, it’s like sending out a blocked call. We know where we’re going and we aren’t interested in seeing anything else. It’s the truest form of selfishness. It’s good to look out for ourselves and determine our own way forward and we can make any decisions we like. But if we only see our own narrow road ahead we will miss the opportunities and lessons we may learn by interacting and embracing those around us. We don’t have to block our number to get what we want. We are smart enough and wise enough to be open and still reach our destination.

When one person carries all the cards in any relationship there will be problems. Every successful relationship requires balance. They give a little, and we give a little. If one is always up and the other down, the relationship is destined to fail. There is risk in anything worth pursuing and nothing is stable without balance. If we want a successful relationship in any arena we must let our walls down and be open. We cannot completely protect ourselves with armor and expect to get close to anyone. Shields and blocks are good for keeping an enemy out but if we employ them when we’re trying to build connections we will fail.

It can be unsettling to let others get close to us and know us deeply. When all our doors are open and the light is pouring in we may feel vulnerable and tremulous. Our connections will only be as close as we let them. If we keep ourselves a step back we may have a workable relationship but it will be superficial. Only when we’re brave enough to show our true selves completely will we achieve a deep and satisfying association. The more we give the more we’ll get in return. Our lives are richer when we let others in and we’ll find true happiness when we unblock our connections.

Today if you’ve been keeping yourself a step back and not completely committing to a relationship, think about your options. You can let your walls down and have rich and rewarding connections to those around you. Open up and let others in. Your life will be richer and embellished in positive ways you can’t imagine. Connect with those around you. You have so much to offer and we all want to know you.

Falling Rocks

13 Dec

There are a lot of unexpected things that happen to us as we go through our days. Sometimes they are fun and delightful, and sometimes they are a headache that snags up our time and complicates everything. Many times, surprises come without notice and we may be caught off guard, but sometimes there is a warning that something is coming and we should be careful. We may listen to the warning or ignore it and see what happens. In mountainous terrains, there are often warning signs that say, “Falling Rocks” on the sides of the road. There may be steep cliffs and sometimes they have heavy screens over them in an effort to keep rocks from falling on passing cars. The warning sign is not a prediction that rocks will fall as we drive through but a warning that they may. It’s a prompt to make us aware and remind us to keep a watchful eye for what could happen. At the end of the journey if we have navigated through without incident we may forget all about the warning and continue on. But without it in place, as we travel through a possibly perilous area, we would be unaware of the danger. Awareness of any possible problem can give us a heads-up and help us to make wiser choices. If we know that something may go wrong, we may more effectively prepare and be ready.

In our lives, we sometimes get warnings of what might happen to us going forward. Maybe someone advises us to be careful when dealing with someone else, or we hear of a problem in a location where we’re going. There may be times when we feel a silent warning as we prepare to do something and perhaps a prompt that we should do it a little differently. We may feel inspired to take a different road or talk to someone before proceeding. Although we sometimes have no reason to follow a warning, taking a moment to think about it may be wise. There is generally a reason why we’ve received the information and if we consider it valuable instead of just blowing it off we may make better decisions. Being prepared for what may happen will enhance our confidence as we navigate the road ahead.

We can’t live a full and meaningful life if we are afraid. We must be bold going forward and willing to take some risks. Although we may feel some hesitation, if we’ve done everything we can to prepare for the road ahead, we can go forward with confidence that no matter what comes we’ll handle it. Fear is something we all experience from time to time. Some of us have more of it than others, and although it’s wise to pay attention when we feel it, we can courageously plan our steps forward and bravely take them. There really isn’t any situation we’ll face that we won’t be able to figure out. If things go wrong, we’ll redirect our course. If the rocks fall, we can dodge them.

Today if you feel some trepidation about your plans, do what is needed to ensure your path and move forward with confidence. Pay attention to any warnings you receive and choose the best road. You have everything you need to succeed. Nothing will stand in your way. Go forward with confidence and success will follow.

Wait For It

14 Oct

There are times in our lives when we have big decisions to make.  When we know we must decide on something very important we may hesitate until we feel comfortable.  Although we are capable of looking at all the options before us and determining exactly where we want to go, sometimes we wait before making the decision to proceed. We can’t tell the future and even if we’re sure we know which way to turn, things could go wrong.  There may be more information available to us if we wait.  We might see things differently later or maybe others will get involved.  There is no way to know exactly where any decision will take us and if we aren’t confident we may be hesitant.  Waiting might help us feel better in the short run, but really all it does is put off the inevitable.  We are going to have to choose.  If we have done everything we can to make the best choice we can go ahead and take the leap.  We are capable of making good decisions and we can be strong and determined when we make them.  What comes will come and whatever happens we will manage it.  If it doesn’t turn out the way we thought it would, we can modify and still go forward.

There is an old saying that “He who hesitates is lost.”  There may be times when we wait to decide something and end up losing an opportunity.  Or other times when we hesitate and the situation changes excluding us from the chance to be involved.  It’s disheartening to discover we missed out on something important because we failed to be involved when the decision was needed.  We all want to get good results from our choices but we won’t get anywhere unless we move forward.  We will never have all the facts or know all the possible outcomes.  We can look at things objectively and carefully, and then weighing everything equally choose the best path forward.  We can be confident that no matter what road we choose we will get to the goal.

Every decision we make carries some risk.  Some people manage risk better than others.  Those who do are more easily able to quickly make decisions based on the options before them.  Others prefer time to think and ponder the possible outcomes before choosing.  Both methods have benefits and drawbacks.  If we’re quick on the draw we may get to the destination quickly but miss a detail that affects the outcome.  If we take too long to think about our choice we may see things more clearly but miss our chance to participate.  We can find a compromise between the two, neither going too fast nor too slow, and come to excellent conclusions.  Big decisions tend to be important in our lives.  We are capable of finding the best answers to them and we are courageous enough to decide the way forward.  We have everything we need to choose well and find success.

Today if you’re facing a big decision and are hesitant to move forward, look at all your options carefully and decide what you want the most.  You know how to choose well and you will make the right decision.  You have everything you need to succeed.  Be brave and choose with confidence.

Armored Car

2 Nov

Everyone gets hurt from time to time.  People let us down, break their promises, forget commitments, and things go wrong.  We depend on others as we go through our days, and sometimes they drop the ball.  When we get hurt badly it can be hard to regain our footing.  We may determine to no longer trust anyone, but that will never work in our favor.  Still, if we’ve been hurt deeply we may put walls up around us thinking they will protect us.  Like an armored car, we bury ourselves under layers of protection in order to prevent anyone from getting in, and hurting us again.  While those layers may protect us in some ways, they also work against us.  If we don’t let people get close to us we might not get hurt, but we may also lose our ability to feel a real connection.  Superficial relationships will never allow us to feel deep affection for anyone.  Strong feelings of attachment and love are beneficial, and are among the most valuable experiences we can have.  Without those connections, we lose a big part of our human experience.

Nobody gets through life without getting hurt.  We may be wounded in one way or another simply because of our interactions and trust for others.  In every exchange, and in every relationship, there is an element of risk.  Allowing others to get close to us makes us vulnerable and when we’re vulnerable there is always the possibility of getting hurt.  We can decide the risk isn’t worth whatever we might gain and keep everyone in our lives at a distance.  If we do that we may never have the extreme pleasure and reward of sharing ourselves with someone else on an intimate level.  We may never experience true feelings of love.

If we develop strong feelings for someone and entrust them with our hearts, and they are not valiant or don’t cherish us in return, their choices and actions may hurt us.  They say it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, but when we’re devastated it’s hard to believe that.  We have a lot to offer and we deserve the very best relationships possible.  If that doesn’t happen and we let someone else’s bad choices change how we live our lives, we may end up losing even more.  Sometimes those that hurt us don’t even care what we’re going through or what they’ve done that has devastated us.  Sometimes all they see is themselves.  Allowing their decisions and bad behavior to define our path going forward gives away our power.  We need to have power over our lives to live successfully.  If we determine that even though we’ve been hurt to live our lives openly and well, that we won’t let a bad experience change our course, we will keep our power.  And we will find happiness again.

Today if you’ve been badly hurt by someone close to you, don’t forget your real focus.  Keep your control.  You know what’s best for you, and you know how to go forward.  You will find your way back to happiness and you’ll be wiser from the experience.  Don’t let someone else’s bad decisions determine your future.  You deserve only the best.  Keep your eyes on the goal and you’ll find it.
