On the Inside

29 Aug

There may be times in our lives when we desire a big change.  Perhaps we’ve been through something difficult that has taken a toll on us, or we’ve been in the same place for a while and feel the need for something new, or we just want to start over.  It may seem when we’re down or things aren’t going well, a new place and a fresh start will do a lot to help us move forward.  We can always change our lives anytime we want to and there isn’t anything strong enough to hold us in place if we really want to move.  Change does help a lot of things but it can’t change what’s really going on inside us.  The fears, uncertainties, and worries we may be struggling with will follow us wherever we go and stay with us until we’re ready to face them and let them go.  A change in scenery can make us feel better for a while but real contentment comes when we’re honest with ourselves about everything we’re doing and are willing to do what is needed to address anything holding us back.  Happiness can only come from within and we have the power to be completely happy no matter where we are.  When we’re ready to face what is keeping us down and open all the doors to the secrets tucked away we’ll be able to begin on the road that will take us to contentment and peace.  Our lives are always in our control and if we aren’t happy we are the only ones who can change them.  We can remove the darkness that is keeping us from complete happiness and step into the light.  We deserve every happiness and when we’re ready to step forward we will have it.

When people are unhappy, sometimes they pull others down with them.  They say misery loves company but we don’t have to spend time with anyone who makes us miserable.  It’s nice to be helpful and offer solutions but everyone must face their issues on their own.  We will always have enough to manage in our own lives without trying to take on someone else’s troubles.  We can be compassionate and kind, and let them find their own way forward.

Guilt is a powerful tool some people use to get us to do what they want.  It’s effective but guilt is a self-inflicted injury and nobody can make us feel it.  We’re all responsible for our own decisions and there is never a need to feel guilty about anything we haven’t done.  Each day is a gift and a blessing.  Living it fully and choosing to do what we must to be happy will bring us joy and comfort.  Paying attention to how we feel on the inside and valuing our personal happiness will bring us great satisfaction and clarity.  Our lives belong to us and we can change anything we want to have the best life possible.

Today if you feel like changing everything because you’re stressed or things have gone wrong, look inside and think about what’s really happening.  Remember that your happiness comes from within and real change will come when you let yourself find it.  You deserve the very best of everything.  Open all the doors.  You are precious and valuable, and nothing is out of reach.  Trust yourself and step into the light.

Living Well

30 Jul

We all live in ways that are unique to our personal desires and goals.  We make our own decisions and the lives we end up with are the lives we choose.  Some people are very successful and inventive, and do things that impact the world or change the way it works.  Some discover cures for diseases, or create things that alter the way we live, or serve in grand ways that embellish thousands and change the world for the better.  It’s amazing and wonderful to have such greatness among us, but we don’t have to do incredible or grandiose things to live well.  The world is blessed by things that amplify goodness and make it work more easily but we also bless it when we choose well in small ways.  By being kind, serving others, and showing charity to those around us, we change the world for the better and augment the environment around us.  We have far more influence over those we interact with than we may realize.  When we reach out to comfort sadness, or extend our hands to help lift a heavy burden, when we listen with compassion or offer a kind word when someone is down, we change the world for the better.  Like ripples in the water after a pebble is tossed in, our influence can move forward indefinitely.  When we choose well we bring glory to the world around us.  That glory brings light into darkness and joy where sorrow once prevailed.  We have the power to change the world.  By choosing well, and living in ways that serve not just ourselves but those around us we turn everything toward light and bring joy and comfort.  We are powerful and good, and our choices reflect who we most want to be.

No life is perfect and there will be days when clouds roll in and the skies of trouble darken.  We may face serious trials and difficult challenges as we push forward and there may be times when we feel doubt and fear over what will happen next.  Misery may overwhelm us and we may be uncertain about how to proceed.  When we’re struggling we can allow others to reach out to us and offer help and support.  We don’t have to do everything alone.  Allowing others to comfort us will bring light and lift us as we continue forward.  Letting others help us when we are overcome helps us live well.  When things settle again and we’re back on a more even keel we can reach out to others and share the gift we received.

The world is filled with billions of people but we are all important and valuable.  Reaching out in kindness, even in small ways, can change everything for someone who is struggling.  Cheering a crying child, helping lift a grocery sack, opening a door, or simply listening when others speak are simple and effective ways to serve.  We can turn sadness into peace, sorrow into comfort and grief into hope.  We are more powerful and influential than we realize.  The whole world is blessed because we are here and we can share that blessing every day.

Today if you feel like your life is small and inconsequential and don’t think you’re important, remember your influence is greater than you know.  You are amazing and powerful and we all want to share our lives with you.  The whole world is better because you are here.  Be joyful.  Your light brings happiness to us all.

Restart

When we want to learn something new, or accomplish something we’ve been pondering, we might look at others who have already completed the goal and see how they did it.  We may try to emulate them in an effort to find success.  It’s possible to accomplish something by copying someone else’s choices, but that doesn’t always work.  We might find no matter how hard we try, what worked for them doesn’t work for us.  Sometimes a change in timing, or expression, or even location may make what worked before impossible now.  We can keep hammering away at the issue but if it’s not going to work no matter how hard we try, we may be stuck.  There are always many roads to any destination.  If what we’re doing isn’t working, we can reroute our direction and start again.  We can revise our plans, take a look at all the options available and carve a new road going forward.  We can go anywhere we want to go and no matter how far the road is or how convoluted the path may be, find our way.  All destinations are possible but we may need to carve a new path to get there.  We are certainly capable of creating a new road any time we need one.  If we keep our eyes on the goal and focus moving forward we will reach it.  There is nothing too difficult or too far away.  We are powerful and wise and nothing is impossible.  Success will come when we’re open to new possibilities and keep moving ahead.

Sometimes it may seem as though everyone around us is having success with something we cannot accomplish.  Everyone is different and our understanding of each situation is unique.  We know who we are and what we need to be successful.  We can change our methods and chart our own course.  There are infinite roads to every goal, and we can find the path that brings us success.  Our interpretations and expressions belong to us alone and by doing things our way we enhance the world around us.  We can forge our own path and find the way to any goal we desire.

The world is filled with differences everywhere we look.  There are many ways to view any situation and there will always be more than one answer possible.  Our ability to see things differently than those around us will enrich our experiences and bring fresh perspectives to every situation.  We are all individual and every new idea opens our understanding to new possibilities.  We don’t have to copy others to be successful.  We can choose our own path and create unique lives that reflect who we are and what we bring to the world.  Life is an incredible gift.  Being completely ourselves blesses us and those around us.

Today if you’ve been following someone else’s patterns in an effort to find success, remember how unique and wonderful you are.  You have so much to offer the world just as you are.  Look at all your options and choose the road that reflects your individuality and personal choices.  Every success is possible and nothing is out of reach.  Share your unique perspective.  The whole world is blessed because you are here.

One Piece

There are billions of people in the world. A billion is a number so large it’s hard to comprehend. There are people on every continent and every corner of the earth. Although technology can make the world seem small it’s quite huge encompassing a vast expanse and there are people everywhere. When we think of the enormity of the view we may feel insignificant. We’re such a small part of the whole human race we may think we don’t matter. Our personal lives may seem inconsequential and unimportant. But think about a huge, enormous jigsaw puzzle with billions of pieces. Each piece is small but if you put it all together and there is one piece missing it will be a glaring deficit. It won’t be complete without every piece in place. It’s the same with us. We may feel small in comparison to the whole world, and we are, but we are an important piece of the puzzle. We count and our contributions are valuable. We make the composition whole. Without us the world would miss an integral part of its experience. Our lives may be small but we impact everything around us and everything we do makes the world what it is today. No life is inconsequential or without value. We all count. We are all worthwhile and essential. Remembering how important we are to the whole will help us cherish our lives more deeply. We are precious and priceless. Everything we do has value and our part is necessary to complete the puzzle.

There are kings, presidents, rulers and others with incredible influence all over the world. They have the power to change how things work and what happens in countries and nations all across the earth. Although we may not have those attributes in our personal lives we are powerful in very personal ways. Our impact is felt with every decision we make and everything we do. We can show great love and care to those around us and bring happiness and joy into other lives. Everything we do changes something. If we are mindful and do the best we can we may change the whole world for good.

As we go about our daily routines and our personal issues we may forget how important we are in the big picture. Our choices bring changes into our lives and impact the lives of those around us. If those choices are made well our impact will be positive. If we are careless and create problems as we move forward, we may leave behind a trail of trouble and despair. There is no way to get through life without affecting those around us. What we choose will bring joy or sorrow, and happiness or grief. If we choose to be the best influence possible our personal gifts will be precious and may change the world for good.

Today if you’re feeling like you don’t count, and your contributions are insignificant, remember your piece of the puzzle is priceless. Nobody else can fill your space. You are the only one who can do your part. Everything you do changes the world. Be confident and go forward knowing you are valuable and precious. Nobody else can bring the gifts you give. You are important and essential. The influence you bring is unique and we need you here.

Permanent Ink

19 Sep

As children, we learn many things. We watch and quickly understand how our behaviors bring different results. We learn what is acceptable and what is forbidden, what is ridiculed and what is praised, and we understand how to navigate all that information to get what we want. As we grow into adulthood we may carry many of the patterns we’ve learned with us and incorporate them into our lives. Some of them help us achieve the goals we desire, but some may hold us back. Childhood patterns can be powerful and even if we don’t know why something is done a certain way, we may continue it even if it no longer makes sense. There is the story of a woman who always cut up her Sunday pot roast and cooked it in two pots. When her daughter asked why she cooked it that way she said that’s the way her mother did it. The daughter then asked the grandmother and she laughed and said, “I never had a pot big enough for the whole thing!” Traditions often start out of need but over time, even when that need is no longer there, the tradition may remain. We may repeat a pattern in our lives that no longer works because it’s what we learned in the past. Keeping things the same is like using permanent ink to write our story. But life changes, and we change as we move forward. We can modify anything to find the best answers and make the best choices. There are few permanent rules that cannot be broken or changed. Our lives belong to us and we may design them any way we like. We can shake off what doesn’t work and forge a new path that is uniquely our own. When we choose the road that’s best for us and takes us where we want to go, we will find happiness and satisfaction going forward.

We may feel pressure to conform and stay within the bounds of customary patterns with those around us. Everyone has their own ideas about how life should look and what is acceptable. But we are all individuals and what is right for one may be uncomfortable for another. We can choose what is best for us even if it doesn’t fit into someone else’s model. The gifts we present to the world are unique and nobody else can give them. Our influence is important and we can share who we really are, honestly and completely.

There are many kinds of families in life. We have biological families, adopted families, work families and others. Every group has its own interpretations about how things should go. If we are comfortable with the patterns presented we may adopt them into our lives, but if we disagree we don’t have to go along. We can be who we really are and make choices that reflect our individual personalities and desires. We can find joy in being true to ourselves. There is no permanent ink to hold us in place. We can change and modify, and find happiness our own way.

Today if you’ve been following a pattern that’s holding you back, change your focus. You have a lot to offer and the world is eager to share your gifts. Be confident and go forward with courage. You are perfect just as you are and there isn’t anything you can’t do. You bring blessings to us all.
