Pinhole

30 May

Being able to see what’s around us is helpful when we’re moving forward. If we have a clear view not only of what lies ahead but of what’s going on near us we have a better chance of navigating complications more effectively. Seeing things as they develop gives us more information and opens options for us as we move ahead. But sometimes, like peering through a pinhole, we only see a direct line forward and not activity that may be happening beside us. Tunnel vision can happen if we are so focused on our goal we negate the value of being involved in anything but our movement forward. Ambition is great when we’re striving to reach a destination but if we only focus on the way ahead and are unaware of what’s around us we may complicate our lives in ways that will stop our progress altogether. No matter what we’re doing or where we’re headed there are many facets of our lives that need attention. If we focus on only one objective and neglect other areas we may experience turmoil and frustration. Life is complex and there are always many things going on that need our attention. If we ignore everything but the road ahead we may make some progress but the things left undone will remain until we return to address them.

There is no way to hold back time. It continues relentlessly whether we are ready or not. The best we can do is try to prepare as we move forward so as time passes we can manage the challenges that come to us. When our lives are busy and we have many pressing details to address we may wish for a pause button to take a breather but there is no way to stop life from moving forward. However, if we need time to see things more openly, and want to step back for a moment we can. We can stand still and take the opportunity to clearly view what’s going on around us and evaluate how we want to proceed. Time will continue but we can stop until we feel ready to start again. We are always in control of what we do. Taking a break may bring us refreshment and new perspectives that will help us moving forward.

Embracing a wide view helps us understand how our lives work and how we fit into the world. It’s easy to restrict our vision to only what we’re currently doing and our personal connections, but when we do we might miss subtle cues that may help us going forward. There may be someone near us with a suggestion that will get us to our goal more effectively. There may be an easier road just to the right of the one we’ve been traveling. If we open our sites a bit wider than just the way ahead we gain the benefit of every influence around us and the information they offer. All the answers we need are available to us. We need only open our eyes and see them.

Today if you’ve been focused on pushing forward and kept your eyes firmly planted on the road ahead, take a moment to look around and see everything available to you. There are answers all around you waiting to be discovered. The whole world is there for you. Be open and take it all in. There is great success ahead and seeing everything will help you find it.

Boundary Line

25 May

We’re all entitled to live our lives any way we choose. We can do anything we like, go where we want to go and become the people we want to be but our decisions may sometimes be in conflict with what others think we should be doing. We all have opinions about what we think should happen and our personal decisions are specific to each of us. It’s inappropriate and sometimes destructive to direct other peoples’ personal lives and correct them if they choose a path we wouldn’t have chosen. It can be hard to keep our opinions to ourselves if we love the other person involved. We may certainly offer our advice if it’s wanted and we can express our concerns but we cannot direct anyone’s life but our own. Others may make choices that are completely different than what we think they should do but nobody knows all the facts in someone else’s life. We can only see what is happening on the outside and understand what they are willing to share with us. We all have the right to confidently choose any path we desire despite how differently others may want us to live. Making our own decisions about our lives allows us to share our unique gifts with others. If we follow a path designed by someone else our lives will reflect their vision and not our own. We can choose our own way and live the life that’s best for us.

Learning to respect boundary lines is important. When we drive a car, we must stay in our own lane, and when we play a game, we must follow the rules. Boundaries bring order and help us understand where we are. Although we can’t see them, each of us have personal boundary lines regarding our choices and the lives we live. We have the freedom to choose anything we desire. If someone steps over the line and tries to direct us, correct us, guide us, or push into lives we haven’t chosen, we need not comply. We can choose what’s best for us even if it doesn’t match what someone else thinks we should do.

Personal boundaries are important. They help us protect our privacy and allow us the freedom to decide how we want to live our lives. Some people believe they have the answers for others. They may offer advice or even criticism if we don’t comply with their ideas. A desire to control others will never bring happiness and often brings conflict. It’s important to understand where our true authority lies and respect the ability of others to make their own decisions, even if we disagree.

Today if someone is trying to direct you to turn onto a road you haven’t chosen, be confident. You are the only one who knows everything about your life and what you want. You are driving the train and can take it anywhere you choose. Listen to good advice and then do what is best for you. You can make excellent decisions and be confident in your choices. You have everything you need to find success and you know where you want to go. Be true to yourself and choose the best road forward.

Learning to Wait

23 May

When we want something, or seek an answer to a problem we often want it right away. It’s hard to wait for something we really want and if we need the answer to go forward it’s even harder. Learning to wait doesn’t always come easily. If we’re waiting for something to happen the resolution we seek will never be far from our minds. We’ll be on the lookout for the answers and have our eyes always focused on the goal. It’s hard to wait when we want something badly and it’s hard to be patient when we want a change to occur. We live in a world of immediate gratification and we may expect immediate action when there is something we desire. But life doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes we must wait. Learning to wait takes patience and the irony is we learn to be patient by having to wait. The two go hand in hand. In time as we learn to be patient we will find the wait easier to manage. Most things we want don’t come instantaneously. We can trust the answers to come and patiently wait for our situation to resolve. Learning to wait helps us navigate our lives more comfortably and effectively. It’s not always easy but we have everything we need to accomplish it.

If we’re in a group with others and we’re sure of an answer and confident we know the way forward but some aren’t convinced, we may have to wait until they come on board. If we are positive the answers are there and still we must wait it may be difficult to remain calm. Everyone reaches their personal conclusions in their own timeframes. We can explain our point of view, show the benefits of any options and express why we feel the way forward is the direction we’ve chosen. That may be enough to bring others on board, but sometimes the vision may not be convincing and we may have to continue to wait. There is often no urgency in our decisions and if we must wait we can take a step back. We can be patient until others join us.

Life is filled with distractions and sometimes they get in the way of what we want to do. Things get more complicated the more other people get involved. Everyone has their own opinions and reaching a consensus that allows us to move forward may take time. We can patiently express our views but we must also allow others the same benefit. Even if we’re sure we have the answers, everyone’s opinion is important. We can be respectful and offer whatever time is needed. Sometimes the best answers come after everyone expresses their viewpoints and we see a bigger picture to make the best decision going forward.

Today if you feel you know what needs to be done and you must wait, be patient. Allow others to join you and share the load going forward. You will accomplish your goal and get to the destination. There is no rush. When the time is right you will begin, and find success. There isn’t anything you can’t accomplish. Be patient. Everything will come.

Making the Cut

22 May

When we’re trying to move forward to accomplish something we really want to achieve we may face many obstacles.  As they come, others may say we aren’t smart enough, strong enough, wise enough or frankly just not good enough to get through.  When we don’t move forward the way we think we should we may feel they are right.  We can push forward toward any dream we want but there may be times when things stand in our way.  We never know the whole story when we’re starting out.  There are few journeys without complications, detours, setbacks or problems.  If they are continuous we may feel we can’t do it, we can’t make the cut and get to the prize.  Life is filled with uncertainty.  Things change constantly.  People get involved who may complicate the road forward and we may tire of pressing through problems.  If we let the complications become personal we may believe we are failures and can’t win and if our confidence is compromised we may be convinced.  The way to a happy life is doing the things that mean the most to us.  We’ve proven again and again that we can achieve what we desire.  We can find our way around any problem we face and with enough determination we can achieve anything.  We always make the cut when we persevere.  We have everything we need to succeed and nothing can stop us from getting to the goal.

Some people aren’t interested in learning new things, don’t want to advance down the road and are content staying in the same place.  If we have someone like that in our lives they may discourage us from trying.  They may say it’s too hard and we should be happy where we are.  They may even try to do things to keep us from moving forward.  We can hear their advice and then do what is best for us.  We own our lives and are in control of where they go and what we do.  Taking control and doing what we want most will bring us happiness and satisfaction.

Some roads have a lot of bumps and detours.  The higher the hill the harder it is to climb.  If we are striving for greatness the path may be complicated and difficult but we can navigate it with persistence and patience.  There is no road that can’t be traveled.  We always have everything we need to succeed.  Each step we take forward will take us closer to the prize.  It doesn’t matter how hard it is to get there or how long it takes.  What matters is that we continue forward until we reach it.  We are more capable and stronger than we think we are and we can do anything we desire.  There is nothing out of reach.

Today if you’ve been pushing hard toward a goal you want to reach and it seems everything is standing in your way, keep looking ahead.  Focus on the path forward and continue moving closer to your destination.  Complications are there to show what doesn’t work and you will find your way.  Persevere and you will find success.  There isn’t anything you can’t do.  You are amazing, capable and strong, and worth more than you can imagine.  Keep going.  You will win.

Mirage

19 May

We all have things we want to accomplish, dreams we want to pursue and goals we want to achieve.  We can plan for them and work toward them until we succeed and sometimes when we get to the destination everything is exactly like we thought it would be.  Other times we may arrive and discover the goal we were after isn’t exactly what we expected.  Like a mirage in the desert something may look good from a distance but upon closer inspection is a bit different.  If we’ve worked hard for a long time to achieve the goal and then discover it isn’t what we want after all we may be disappointed or feel we’ve been cheated.  We can’t know everything from the beginning but if we pay attention as we move along there are often clues that will give us more information about the road we’re on.  If we simply storm ahead sure of ourselves, we may find in the end we’ve reached a destination that isn’t anything like what we want.  Everything we do changes us in some way and as we’re moving forward our lives are evolving and we may find what we sought at the beginning isn’t what we want now.  We can turn our course and change direction any time we’re ready.  There are countless roads that lead to happiness.  Which one we choose depends on where we want to go and what we want to become.  The whole world belongs to those who take it.  We can do anything and go anywhere. If we’ve reached a place that doesn’t fit we can turn our course and begin again.

Few things in life are permanent and unchangeable.  Most ideas and decisions can be changed and modified if needed.  If we are open and honest with ourselves and clearly see what isn’t working we can modify our plans to find happiness.  If we aren’t happy we need not stay in any situation and if we don’t feel fulfilled and content we may change whatever is needed to correct our course.  We may leave a relationship, a job, move to a different location or open a new door.  Whatever is needed to find joy in our lives is available to us and we have enough courage and wisdom to move forward to get it.

Some situations are very alluring and captivating.  Like a mirage in the distance they call to us and we may be consumed with attaining them.  We can make all our dreams come true but first we must be sure that what we’re seeing is exactly what we want.  Do we really want what’s at the end of that road?  Are we sure we are willing to do what is needed to achieve it?  Being clear on what is required to move forward and then making our decision will enable us to find success.  We can take the time we need to make the best decisions for our future and then plan our way forward. We can be wise and careful and find the happiness we seek.

Today if you’ve been working hard to reach a goal but aren’t sure it’s exactly what you’re seeking, take a moment to think before you proceed.  See all your options clearly and choose the road that’s best going forward.  You know what you want and are wise enough to make excellent choices.  Happiness is there for you.  Look for it, plan for it and then begin forward to achieve it.
