Courage

7 Nov

Everyone has times in their lives that shake their security and make them feel unsure. We all go through experiences that are difficult and frightening and we may feel concerned we won’t be able to endure the challenge. If we must face something that takes away our safety and calm, and the situation is daunting and overwhelming, we may believe it’s beyond what we can manage. We may be afraid as we struggle to stand firm. Fear is an important emotion. It warns us and tells us to be alert to what is going on. It’s a survival mechanism that makes us aware and keeps us focused. But fear is also a tool we can use to understand where we are more clearly and show us the way forward. If we look at it objectively and control our response to it we can see the situation accurately and turn it into courage. Courage is merely strength in the face of danger or uncertainty. When we feel afraid we can step back for a moment, look at the entire situation openly and then stand strong knowing we will overcome whatever is ahead. Even if we aren’t sure exactly how we will proceed our courage will direct us and help us move forward. We realize how strong we are when we face extreme challenges. We have perfect courage within us and can pull it forward to navigate the most difficult problems we face. It’s always there. We need only reach for it. Everything is possible and there isn’t anything we can’t do. Trusting our abilities and being confident will help us access everything we need to overcome anything before us. We are strong and capable, and nothing will hold us in place.

When we are surprised by difficult developments that knock the wind out of us we may lose our footing for a moment. If the problem is extreme and complex, we may be breathless trying to figure out what is happening and how to get through. We may not be able to see the whole situation at first but if we give ourselves time to think and step back for a moment we will understand everything that’s happening. Once we see the problem clearly, no matter how bad things are, we will find a way through.

If we believe we don’t have the strength or courage to face an issue, we may talk ourselves into failure. However, we always have everything we need to face anything we must. It may be more than we want to face, it may require us to do things we are uncomfortable with, and it may take more time than we want to spend. But every solution is available if we are determined to find it. There is always another door to open and the answers are there. We can be confident and sure we will prevail. We can do anything we must and succeed.

Today if you’re facing an enormous problem that has rocked you and made you feel unsure, remember how strong you are. All the answers are there for you. You’ve already overcome many things and there isn’t anything too complex for you to unravel. You are amazing, capable, and wise. Be confident. Move forward. Success is there and you will reach it.

We meet all kinds of people as we go through our lives.  Some of them share common traits with us and others are very different.  We all define success in unique ways and accomplish many different things as we navigate forward.  Sometimes if we meet new people who have achieved great and impressive goals we may feel our lives are small in comparison.  We may look at ourselves compared to them and believe we haven’t done enough or our contributions are in some way less valuable.  None of us will have identical experiences and we all move in different ways on the roads we have chosen.  When we see the success others have achieved we may think our successes aren’t as important or are somehow beneath them.  It’s easy to believe we haven’t done enough when we compare ourselves to others we admire but every achievement no matter how small has value.  Every single step we take forward is an important success.  If we’re on the road we want to be on and headed in the direction we want to go we are successful.  The world’s ideas of success mean nothing.  We define our personal success by the standards we set for ourselves.  Maybe we haven’t published a book, run a marathon, or built a corporation.  But if what we’ve done has brought us satisfaction and happiness, we are successful.  Nothing can compare to the joy we find when we accomplish something we truly desire, no matter if others notice or not.  We are defined by our own standards.  Our lives are valuable and important and our contributions count.  Everything we do makes an impact and we are an integral part of the world around us.

Fame and fortune are big and spectacular.  We see it splashed across headlines, the covers of magazines and those who enjoy it get a lot of attention.  If we get caught up in what others think we should achieve and aren’t on those roads, we may believe we are failures.  If we haven’t earned a lot of money, or done anything sensational and noteworthy to those around us, we might think our lives are inconsequential and meaningless.  But every life has value.  Every one of us plays a role in the history of the world.  Every decision we make brings a result that affects the situation around us.  We fill an emptiness the world would experience without us.

We define our lives and design them in ways that bring us happiness and satisfaction.  What we value may not be what others find important.  Our goals are unique to what we want to accomplish.  We need not define our personal success by the parameters the world sets.  Our happiness is achieved when we do what is most important to us and takes us where we want to go.  The world belongs to us and we may define it according to our unique standards and desires.

Today if you’ve been comparing yourself to the successes of those around you and feel you haven’t accomplished enough, remember your life is yours to define.  You decide what your personal success looks like.  You are important and the world needs your influence.  Be yourself and be confident.  You have so much to offer and we’re all lucky you’re here.

“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.”  Mark Twain

We will face all kinds of obstacles and problems as we navigate through our lives.  We might face a time when what lies before us is daunting, intimidating, or even terrifying, and we may be unsure we can move forward.  Fear is a natural response when we don’t know what will happen or the situation is out of our control and yet has power over us.  It is not a weakness but a tool to help us understand our situation clearly.  It warns us and alerts us to possible dangers ahead, and we can use it to courageously find the way forward.  Nobody will get through their lives without experiencing fear from time to time.  It’s normal and natural and we can take control when it comes.  Stepping back from the situation and seeing it objectively will help us understand where we are and discern our options moving forward.  Courage is always there deep within us and we can access it, use it, and embrace it to help us walk through anything that comes.  No matter how frightening the situation, there is an answer.  There is a resolution to every problem we face.  We can take a breath, look at where we are and assess the best way forward.  Taking time to think will enable us to employ the courage deep within us and help us find our way.  There isn’t anything we can’t do and no problem too intense for us resolve.  We are braver than we think we are and have everything we need to overcome anything.  We can use fear to teach us and guide us, and then do what is needed to take the next step.

If we try to keep our lives small and limit our exposure to others things may be more predictable but that will not keep us from facing difficult times.  There will always be other people coming in and out of our lives, influencing what happens by their decisions.  We can only control what we do and it’s impossible to totally eliminate the influence of others in our lives.  When that influence brings uncertainty and fear, we can still step forward and do what is best for us.  We are always in control and nothing will keep us in place.

If we suffer from panic and worry we may believe we cannot overcome very difficult situations.  What we think will impact how we act.  We can be confident enough to understand that no matter what comes to us we have everything we need to find our way through.  There really is no situation too difficult or complex for us to unravel and overcome.  We have enough wisdom and courage to do anything.  Nothing is too strong or difficult for us to figure out.  We can be courageous and find the success we seek

Today if you’re in a situation that is intimidating and difficult and you aren’t sure you can manage it, call on the courage deep within you.  You already possess everything you need to succeed and there is nothing too complex for you to overcome.  Be confident.  You are wise and strong.  Go forward with certainty that you will win.  Success is there for you and you will reach it.

One Piece

There are billions of people in the world. A billion is a number so large it’s hard to comprehend. There are people on every continent and every corner of the earth. Although technology can make the world seem small it’s quite huge encompassing a vast expanse and there are people everywhere. When we think of the enormity of the view we may feel insignificant. We’re such a small part of the whole human race we may think we don’t matter. Our personal lives may seem inconsequential and unimportant. But think about a huge, enormous jigsaw puzzle with billions of pieces. Each piece is small but if you put it all together and there is one piece missing it will be a glaring deficit. It won’t be complete without every piece in place. It’s the same with us. We may feel small in comparison to the whole world, and we are, but we are an important piece of the puzzle. We count and our contributions are valuable. We make the composition whole. Without us the world would miss an integral part of its experience. Our lives may be small but we impact everything around us and everything we do makes the world what it is today. No life is inconsequential or without value. We all count. We are all worthwhile and essential. Remembering how important we are to the whole will help us cherish our lives more deeply. We are precious and priceless. Everything we do has value and our part is necessary to complete the puzzle.

There are kings, presidents, rulers and others with incredible influence all over the world. They have the power to change how things work and what happens in countries and nations all across the earth. Although we may not have those attributes in our personal lives we are powerful in very personal ways. Our impact is felt with every decision we make and everything we do. We can show great love and care to those around us and bring happiness and joy into other lives. Everything we do changes something. If we are mindful and do the best we can we may change the whole world for good.

As we go about our daily routines and our personal issues we may forget how important we are in the big picture. Our choices bring changes into our lives and impact the lives of those around us. If those choices are made well our impact will be positive. If we are careless and create problems as we move forward, we may leave behind a trail of trouble and despair. There is no way to get through life without affecting those around us. What we choose will bring joy or sorrow, and happiness or grief. If we choose to be the best influence possible our personal gifts will be precious and may change the world for good.

Today if you’re feeling like you don’t count, and your contributions are insignificant, remember your piece of the puzzle is priceless. Nobody else can fill your space. You are the only one who can do your part. Everything you do changes the world. Be confident and go forward knowing you are valuable and precious. Nobody else can bring the gifts you give. You are important and essential. The influence you bring is unique and we need you here.

What’s Next

Every decision and choice we make carries with it a result.  We don’t live in a vacuum and it’s impossible to do anything without affecting something else.  Sometimes the results of our choices are exactly what we planned and hoped for, but other times due to forces outside our control, information we don’t have, or the influence of others, things go another way.  We can’t always see what’s coming next even if we plan effectively.  The world is filled with people and each one is making constant decisions.  We may be aware of some of them but many times we don’t know what those around us are doing.  If we reach a point where our choices and theirs collide we may end up with a result we didn’t plan on.  We can only control our own actions and have no dominion over the choices of other.  However, if we take the time we need to consider all the possibilities we can see, often our decisions will take us where we want to go.  We can’t read the future but with careful planning we have the best chance of success.  Rushing and jumping to decisions will definitely take us somewhere but it may not be where we want to go and the results of a hasty choice may not bring us the benefits we seek.  There is no decision we can’t make well.  We are wise enough to choose the way forward that will take us to any destination we desire.  Every choice is ours to make and we can make them well.

There may be times when we’re faced with a situation where we cannot see a good option going forward.  We may be in a place where there are seemingly no positive choices available.  If there are no good answers we can still choose wisely.  We can evaluate all the possibilities and outcomes for each scenario, and then choose the one that best agrees with our desires moving forward.  Once that decision is made we can plan the way ahead step by step until we are on better footing and the road to the goal we seek is clear.

If we must face a difficult decision and are unsure of the outcome we may be tempted to set it aside and ignore it for a time.  We may hope the situation will simply change on its own and we won’t have to face it.  Unfortunately it’s unlikely anything will change unless we do what is needed to change it.  We can take the time we need to think about the decision but avoiding it altogether will not help us move forward.  We can face any decision we must, look at all our options and choose wisely.  There isn’t any puzzle too hard for us to solve and with patience and careful consideration we can make the best choice possible.  We are strong and capable, and there isn’t anything we can’t manage.  We can do our best to ensure the outcomes of our decisions are positive and move us forward toward our destination.

Today if you’re facing a difficult decision and you don’t know what lies ahead, review all the possibilities and weigh them carefully.  You know where you want to go and you have everything you need to succeed.  Plan well, choose wisely and you will reach your destination.  There isn’t anything you can’t do.  You are strong and powerful.  Be confident.  You know what to do.
