White Water

19 Nov

It’s fun to go rafting.  As we move through the water we can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the river as we float downstream.  In the areas where the water is calm we can lie back and relax, but no river is without some kind of rapids.  Rapids may appear and rush us along quickly and as we navigate them if we want to get through we need to be aware of everything around us.  We can’t see what’s under the water and even if we’re paying attention our situation could change in an instant.  Hidden rocks and unexpected currents may quickly change our situation and we may suddenly find ourselves upended in the water looking for oars and trying to catch our raft as it races past.  We don’t live our lives on a raft but we may go through times when it seems we’re in the rapids trying to hold on while everything around us is changing.  Life can be complicated and nobody knows what tomorrow will bring.  The only thing we can really count on is that whatever we’re going through right now will change in time.  How long that takes is anyone’s guess but while we’re navigating white water and struggling to stay afloat, remembering that nothing lasts forever may boost our courage and give us additional confidence.  We’re highly capable and can adapt to any situation but change isn’t always easy.  We can trust ourselves to make good decisions and find the way forward no matter where we are.  Life is filled with challenges and we can face whatever comes.  There is sufficient strength inside us and we can be confident in any situation that we’ll find our way through and reach the shore.

The world is filled with billions of people constantly making choices and decisions that may affect our lives.  We can’t know everything and sometimes our situation changes dramatically because of events beyond our control.  When the bottom falls out and our plans go up in smoke we may be disoriented as we try to figure out what’s happening.  Change is constant and when it comes we can stop and stand still until we see everything clearly again and understand how to proceed.  We can adjust our plans to accommodate any alteration.  We can be flexible and open to new ideas and try new paths moving forward.

It seems it would be easier to live in world where everything stayed the same and we would know what to expect all the time.  Our days would certainly be simpler if people never changed and our routines were solid and unmovable.  But repetition can’t teach us anything new and life is all about learning and growing.  We can adapt to change and find new ways to accomplish anything.  We’re creative and capable of managing any situation no matter how complex or unusual.  Our experiences teach us many valuable lessons and help us become the people we most want to be.  We can embrace change, navigate the rapids and find our way to any destination we desire.

Today if your situation has suddenly changed and you don’t know how to proceed, take a moment to see everything clearly.  The scenery may be different but there is still a way forward.  There isn’t anything you can’t do.  Remember how strong and capable you are.  All the answers you need are there and you will find the right road forward.

Around and Around

15 Nov

There are many things that may occupy our time and endless activities we may be involved in. Every day brings new opportunities and we can use our time any way we desire. If we’re focused on a goal and doing what is needed to make it reality, we’re likely to find success. But life is filled with all kinds of distractions and even if we’re intent on doing something, if we allow those distractions to alter our focus, we may not achieve the goals we want to pursue. There are a lot of people in our lives who may want our time for one thing or another and if we value our relationship with them, we may give it. It’s good to be helpful and supportive to those around us but if we constantly say yes to the needs of others, we may end up sacrificing the things we want the most. Time is a defined commodity that cannot be expanded or recaptured. We can’t stretch our days longer in an effort to get more done. We must manage the time we have and judiciously make decisions that will allow us to help those in need and still accomplish the things we want most. Our lives are important and our dreams can come true if we do what is needed to make that happen. Constantly being busy doing all sorts of things for everyone else may make us very popular but won’t help us achieve our personal goals. We can plan our days in ways that allow us to serve others and still have time to continue toward the destinations we desire most.

Being busy doesn’t always mean being successful. If we’re spinning around and around in circles, we are active and busy but aren’t moving forward. Continually stepping off the road that takes us to our goals to do other things will not help us achieve them. There is much to be learned by doing many different activities and we can try everything we like. However, if we spend all our time trying new things, we will never master anything. We know what we want and we know where we want to go. We can keep our eyes focused on the goals we want most and with determination we will reach them.

There are endless opportunities to do unlimited things. We can accomplish many personal goals but before we begin, we must decide what we want to do. Making lists and plans is only the first step. All the planning in the world will get us nowhere if we never move. We must actually step out and start our journey if we want to reach any destination. We are strong and capable and there isn’t anything we can’t do and nowhere too far to reach. The whole world is there for us and we can find great success and achieve all our goals.

Today if you’ve been busy doing lots of things that haven’t moved you closer to the places you want the most, revise how you spend your time. Your life is precious and your dreams are worthwhile. Make a plan to achieve the goals that mean the most and begin your journey toward them today. You can do anything. Step forward and make all your dreams come true. They’re always available to you and you will reach them.

Heavy

14 Nov

We’ll have many happy days as we go through our lives but there will also be days when the sun won’t shine and we’re burdened with problems, concerns and difficult issues that rob us of peace and make us miserable.  Misery happens and even if we try to shield ourselves by making good choices, things will inevitably go wrong from time to time.  We can get through anything we need to and all the answers will come eventually but while we struggle we may feel unhappy and heavy with worry and concern.  When the cares of the world are weighing upon us it can be hard to face our days and continue pushing forward.  We can refuse to look at the issue and pretend everything is fine, hoping that somehow it’ll work itself out.  It’s possible but seriously unlikely that our problems will resolve themselves.  Instead of trying to hide from them we can face them head on and do what we must to resolve them once and for all so we can let them go.  Carrying around a heavy burden is tiresome and will keep us from moving toward the goals we want the most.  By stopping and looking at everything clearly, opening all the doors to the roads ahead, we can find the answers we need to solve any problem.  It doesn’t matter how hard the issue is, it doesn’t matter how many times we’ve already tried to fix it, we can try again and find success.  Life is filled with opportunity and when we’re bogged down with trouble, we can push forward and find our way.  We are stronger and more capable than we think we are and nothing is heavy enough to hold us back.

Lifting weights will help us build physical strength.  As our muscles get stronger, we can lift heavier and heavier weights until we reach our goal.  Gaining strength doesn’t come easily.  Sitting around and hoping we’ll magically get stronger by doing nothing will never work.  We have to push ourselves and test our limits and then push through them until we achieve the strength we desire.  The same is true in our personal lives.  When we’re tested with heavy burdens and difficult challenges, as we find our way through we gain additional skills and build our personal strength.  We learn about ourselves as we struggle and can use the knowledge we gain moving forward.  There isn’t anything we can’t manage.  We can be confident and continue moving toward our goals.

If we’re going through a serious complication that completely takes over our focus we may believe we can’t survive it.  We might think the problem is too difficult, too intense and too pervasive for us to manage, but we are strong.  We can believe in our ability to handle whatever is before us, no matter how serious the issue is.  The answers will always be there for us and if we look carefully we’ll find them.  We can do anything.  Success is always possible and we can reach it.

Today if you’re overwhelmed with a problem and don’t know how to get through, trust yourself.  You’ve overcome many difficult issues already and you will find the answers.  You are strong and wise, and nothing is too heavy for you to carry.  Be confident.  You will prevail and find your way forward.

Courage

13 Nov

We hear all kinds of stories about courageous, brave people who do astounding things that impress us and make us marvel at their fearlessness and stamina. Some events are so noteworthy they become legend and part of our history. It’s inspiring and uplifting to see others express heroism and courage no matter what is before them. In our lives we may never have to face an army of marauders or take out a bank robber but we will likely face times when we’ll have to be brave against a situation before us. Fear is a natural response to threat and courage doesn’t mean we won’t be afraid but that we’ll act even in the face of our fear. Instead of being paralyzed and cowering in a corner we can step out and stand strong in the midst of a difficult and frightening situation. Our lives may be predictable and perhaps we don’t think we have many opportunities to practice being courageous but every time we hold our ground when there is pressure to bend, every time we speak up when someone is being hurt, and every time we extend ourselves to help others, we are being brave. Practicing courage even in small ways gives us the skill to stand strong when serious issues arise. If we fold every time someone disagrees with us, or cower every time we are unsure, we will never be able to express our true selves. We are capable and strong and even if the tide turns against us, can hold fast to what we want the most. We have all the courage and strength within us to do anything we desire. Trusting ourselves and believing we will prevail will move us forward.

We may experience great pressure to conform and go along with common ideas around us. It’s easier for a group to function if everyone does the same things and those around us may press us to follow their views even if we disagree. We can always go with the flow and keep our opinions to ourselves. It’s easier to let others lead and simply follow along than it is to question the road ahead, but remaining quiet will only guarantee that our influence will not be heard. We have a lot to offer and our ideas are valuable. We can be brave enough to speak up, even if we’re different, and share our true selves with those around us.

Life is continually moving forward and if we are timid and don’t express ourselves, we may find we are simply going through the motions instead of grabbing hold of our lives and making the most of our time. Each day we live is a blessing and once the time has passed can never be recaptured. Standing back and staying quiet will never take us to the goals we want the most. We can speak up, step forward and take control of our lives and design them any way we choose. It’s all there for us. We need only reach out and take it.

Today if you’ve been sitting quietly and allowing others to decide what you’ll do next, remember you are valuable and your choices are important. Think about what you want the most and step toward your goals. Everything is possible and you have all the courage and wisdom you need to find success. Be strong. All your dreams are there for you and you can make them come true.

Looking Ahead

9 Nov

There are all kinds of people in the world and as we go through our days we’ll come in contact with many different kinds of personalities.  Some will be welcoming and fun, others may try our patience, and we may even interact with some truly mean and evil people.  Often we can tell by their actions what someone is like, but people are smart and may hide traits they don’t want others to see.  If they’re good at hiding, we may become their friends and spend a lot of time with them before we really see them for who they are.  They may suddenly turn on us and display behaviors we were previously unaware of.  We may be left confused and stunned trying to figure out what’s happening.  People can do anything they want and sometimes their choices hurt us.  They may blame us for something we haven’t done, judge us for a simple mistake, sabotage us around others or even do things to keep us from moving forward.  If we can’t reason with them or get them to listen to us, we may not be able to resolve the issue.  We all make our own decisions and if someone has decided we’re the enemy no matter what we do, we may have to accept things as they are and walk away.  People change when it’s important to them and if our relationship is important enough, those involved will do what is necessary to make it work.  Not every connection will be positive and we may need to let go from time to time.  We are worthwhile and if we aren’t valued can choose another path.  We deserve every happiness and can do what is needed to ensure we get it.

Our perceptions form our reality.  If we see things clearly and openly, often those perceptions will be accurate.  But we are influenced by the experiences we’ve had, and if they’ve been negative and hurtful, our perception may affected.  Jumping to conclusions based on emotion may color our understanding further and may make things seem very different than they really are.  We can take our time and set impressions aside until we understand everything clearly.
If we’re open to listening to everyone’s opinions and withhold judgement until we get all the facts, we’ll have a better chance of seeing the situation as it really is.

Misunderstandings happen and often we can correct them and clear the air, but sometimes the link gets broken and nothing we do will fix it.  It’s heartbreaking when someone we’re close to shuts the door on our relationship and we may feel great sadness.  But life is constantly changing and what is broken today may mend in time.  We can be kind and patient, and hope for the future.  Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring and we can be hopeful that in time we’ll reach a positive outcome.  We are strong and valiant, and can navigate through any complication.  We know what we want and will find success.

Today if you’ve been hurt by someone and are unable to change the situation, remember misunderstandings don’t define you.  You are worthwhile and valuable.  The whole world is better because you are here.  Be patient and kind, and show us your true self.  Set the best example you can.  Success will come and you will prevail.
