Leading On

There are many kinds of leaders in the world. There are kings and magistrates, presidents and ambassadors, and different influential and powerful individuals. The world is filled with billions of people and when there are righteous, honest, valiant leaders to help them, much good can be accomplished. In our personal lives there are people around us who can teach us things and show us the way when we’re confused or lost. They may not be formal leaders but they are available when we need help finding the way forward. While we depend on them at one time or another, we are all leaders in our own way. We all have gifts to share but we can only lead as far as we’ve gone. We can’t share what we don’t possess, and there is no way to teach someone something we don’t know. Before we can have influence and share our knowledge, we have to gain it. Everything we do teaches us something and if we expand our reach and step beyond where we are, we learn more and gain greater skills and insight. Knowledge brings confidence and helps us move ahead with clarity and power. When we share that knowledge with others and push forward toward a goal, there is nothing that can keep us from success. We may not think of ourselves as leaders, but everything we do changes the world in some way. By sharing what we know we can expand our influence and reach every goal we set.

If we want to lead those around us, we must be willing to step forward into the unknown and forge the way ahead. What we know is comfortable and predictable but can never afford great change or growth to enter our lives. If we stay within our comfort zones, we may have an easier time but we won’t experience the thrill of knowing what we can accomplish. We are capable of amazing experiences if we allow ourselves to step beyond where we are. A new road will take us to new destinations that will enrich us and broaden our understanding of life. Once we embrace the road ahead, we can show others the way forward and reach any destination we desire.

Everything we do is visible and open to those around us. We are setting an example with each choice we make. If we live true to the standards we’ve set for ourselves, our integrity and honesty will impact those around us and may affect the decisions they make. They will learn to trust us and rely on our judgement and wisdom. We can change the world by choosing to be valiant and true in every decision. There is greatness inside us and we can make good, strong choices that guide our lives and lead others toward excellence.

Today if you want more experiences in your life, step away from what you know and try something new. Choose a new path that will take you somewhere different. Make the unfamiliar yours and then share it with those around you. Take control and show others the way. Life is filled with experiences that will enhance and delight you. Do everything you dream and be the person you most want to be. The whole world is there waiting and everything is possible.

Making the Choice

The choices we make have a lot of influence over our lives.  Every decision takes us somewhere and if we’re engaged and aware we may choose roads that take us where we want to go.  But life is busy and can be complicated, and sometimes we make choices quickly out of necessity or even desperation.  Perhaps anger or frustration plays a roll and instead of thinking ahead, we pick a road based on what we’re feeling at the moment.  For every action we take there will always be a reaction of some sort.  If we are quick and thoughtless when we choose our steps forward, we may get a response we don’t want.  It’s impossible to be right all the time.  We all stumble and make mistakes but if we are careless and irresponsible, we may be beset with problems we’ve created ourselves.  Our lives belong solely to us and we are in control of every decision we make.  We can direct our lives forward with positive intent or we can choose without thinking and hope everything works out.  If we want our dreams to come true, or achieve anything, we must purposely direct our decisions.  We can drive out onto the highway but without a destination in mind and the desire to get there we may drive around indefinitely, going nowhere.  Without purposeful intent, and the choices needed to bring us success, we may spin in circles as time passes and never achieve the things we truly want.  Life is an incredible blessing.  Each day brings the chance to move closer to where we want to be.  With careful thought we can take control, make excellent decisions, and find success.  Every dream can come true if we do what is needed to move forward.

Opportunity is everywhere but it’s up to us to claim it.  We can watch others achieve their goals and complain that it was easier for them or they got chances we weren’t afforded.  It’s true that sometimes we will miss out on things we want to do but most of the time the opportunity to move forward is completely in our control.  If we sit back and do nothing, nothing will happen.  It takes determination and action to make any change a reality.  We are in control and every decision is up to us.

It’s easy to stay within our comfort zones and keep a routine we’re familiar with.  If we want something more, or something different we must be willing to step away from what we’re doing.  It can be unsettling to step into unknown territory and we may feel uncomfortable when we try.  But the unknown is only unknown until we make it ours.  We are capable of facing any challenge and embracing any change we desire.  The first steps forward will open new horizons before us and as we push ahead we will achieve success.  There isn’t anything we can’t do.  The world is there for us and we can reach any destination we desire.

Today if you want more opportunity and success, step away from what is familiar and move toward the goals you really want.  You have everything you need to accomplish anything you desire.  Be engaged and aware of each decision and choose the roads that will take you where you want to go.  You are strong and powerful, and nothing is out of reach.  Your life is yours to design and every success is possible.

Pause

When we’re working on completing a goal or pushing through an important project, the last thing we want is an interruption. However, this is life and unexpected developments come to all of us. When they do and we’re busy we may push them off in order to get back to the task at hand. It’s good to be focused and nobody wants to go around in circles with continual detours. But some things may happen that need our attention and ask us to stop for a moment to address them. If something happens to someone around us where they are hurt or confused, or need our help, we can stop what we’re doing and turn our focus to them. Projects, goals and deadlines are important but nothing is more valuable than the human spirit. Often what is needed won’t take long before we’re back on track again, and the time spent giving assistance may change someone else’s life. Being the best we can be isn’t just about what we accomplish but about the attributes we gain as we travel forward. Who we are is far more important than what we’ve done. Achieving goals, being ambitious and getting things completed are all great assets. Becoming compassionate, caring and kind are attributes that will change our perspective and benefit the entire world. We can accomplish anything we set out to do but we don’t have to get it all done today. If someone needs us, really needs our help, we can take a break from the journey and share our lives with them. When we do, we will find greater joy and a deeper understanding of who we are and what we really want.

It’s easy to get tunnel vision when we’re trying to complete something. We can tune out everything around us and become immersed only in what we want to do and where we want to go. We may not hear other voices, we may not see anything but the road ahead, and we may miss a lot of information as we push through. If we are oblivious to everything but what we want to accomplish, we may miss the needs of a friend, or the request for help when someone is falling. Our goals are important but keeping them in perspective will help us live our lives more fully and effectively. We can be open to what’s going on around us even when we’re pushing forward, be available when someone needs us, and still accomplish the goal.

Pausing to help someone is thoughtful and kind but we may get into a situation where someone abuses our kindness. We can evaluate each situation objectively and decide how much we can offer. We can be helpful and still manage our time carefully to ensure we achieve what is most important. There isn’t anything we can’t do and being mindful of those around us and managing our time will help us succeed.

Today if you’ve only been focused on the goal you want to achieve and zoned everything else out, look around. If there is a need, offer your help. You can accomplish your goals and still be available to those around you. Learn to be giving and compassionate, and carry those attributes forward. Share your life with others and everything you desire will come to you. Be a gift to the world. You have the power to change everything.

The Neutral Zone

There will be few times in our lives when we’ll get where we want to go serendipitously or by accident. Generally, if we want something to happen we’ll have to work for it. Pushing forward toward any goal is the best way to ensure we get there but there may be times when we have to wait. There may be others standing in our way we cannot move. There may be situations that take our attention away from the road forward or unforeseen complications that must be resolved before we can proceed. Waiting is like idling in neutral. The engine is still running but until the gears change we can’t proceed. If we must wait a long time we may give up on the goal and decide to take another path. We can always change our direction at any time but if the goal is something we truly want we can be patient and remain in place until things change. We don’t have to give up on any goal we value. It may feel we have no control as we wait but even when standing still we are in command of our lives. Life changes constantly and in time our situation will modify and we’ll be able to proceed forward again. While we wait we can be prepared and ready for that eventuality and spring into action as soon as we are able. The opportunity to move forward will always come again.

Life is all about choices. We can do anything we want and go anywhere we want to go. We don’t need the agreement of others and we may define our lives in our own personal ways. If we lack confidence or are unsure we may stand still and let others decide what we will do. If we don’t control our lives, others will control them for us and the destinations they choose may not be the ones we want. We are the only ones with personal inspiration regarding what is best for us. Even those who know us very well will never know us completely. We have everything we need to go where we really want to go. Shifting out of neutral and determining to define things according to our personal desires will help us achieve the lives we want the most.

The neutral zone is an easy place to live. We don’t have to make decisions, we don’t have think about the future and we don’t have to work hard to continue forward. When a car is in neutral very little fuel is needed to keep it running. It doesn’t take much energy to stand still. When we let life determine our path forward we give up the opportunity to design our lives and achieve what we truly desire. We deserve every happiness. Every dream can come true if we purposely move forward toward it and do what is needed to find success. We can go anywhere and do anything but first we have to gear up and begin.

Today if you’ve been waiting for something to happen to change your life, take control and start to move. Begin the journey you’ve been dreaming about. There isn’t anything you can’t do. You are more powerful than you imagine and you can accomplish anything you desire. Step forward. Your destination is just ahead and nothing will keep you from success.
