Remembering Again

15 Feb

Life can be complicated and we’re often busy taking care of all the details necessary to keep everything running smoothly. There can be a lot going on and sometimes if we’re so focused on getting things done and moving on to the next task, we may lose sight of the big picture. As we go through our experiences we learn new things, what works, what hurts, what stops our progress and a million other things. The lessons we gain give us insight and understanding that help us as we continue on and open new doors ahead. But life is busy and it’s possible to forget even an important lesson while we try to untangle today’s issues, and get ready for tomorrow’s. Someone may say something that reminds us of some mistake we made in the past, and we quickly remember what didn’t work and change course before we repeat a bad experience. There are reminders all around us of where we’ve been and what we’ve done already. If we’re so busy we don’t notice them, it’s possible we’ll travel down the same road that brought disaster once before and get to do it all over again. We date different people but they all have the same abusive personality, we repeat the same lack of judgement at work that creates stress and difficulty, or other things we’ve already proven do not work but neglect to change. We’re in complete control of every decision we make and there is no way to escape accountability for every action. There is nothing to be gained from lessons we choose to forget. Learning from our mistakes and using that knowledge to adjust our course moving forward will help us find happiness and reach success. We can do anything we want and have the lives we most desire by learning everything possible as we move ahead. Every destination is possible and with clarity and focus, nothing can keep us from anything we want.

Back when records were used to record music, sometimes there would be a nick in the disc creating a skip, and the music would repeat the same phrase over and over again. If we refuse to learn from our mistakes, our lives may be like that. We may repeat the same bad decisions over and over again. Repeating a bad mistake doesn’t make it better. We deserve complete happiness, and by remembering what we’ve learned along the way and applying it to what we’re doing now, we can achieve it. Everything is there for us. We just need to do what is needed to make it ours.

Traditions and routines are very powerful. There is nothing wrong with having a predictable life, but doing the same things can only bring the same results. If what we’re doing isn’t making us happy, we can change. We don’t have to stay in any relationship that doesn’t work, or keep a job that makes us crazy. There are always many options possible and we have everything we need to do anything we like. Every blessing is there for us, and with determination and patience, we can make them ours.

Today if you’re doing something that isn’t making you happy, think about what you really want. You are in control of your life and can design it any way you like. Decide how you want to proceed, and take the first step forward. There is great happiness just ahead and you will reach it.

Still Waters

14 Feb

Everyone wants an easy life where everything always goes well and there is no stress or complication. It would be great if all our stories had happy endings, and nothing terrible, painful or disastrous ever happened. That works in storybooks, but isn’t generally the case in real life. Some roads are paved and clear, and when we sail along without trials or problems, life is great. There are sunny skies overhead and we feel good. But change is constant and nothing can stay the same forever. Trouble comes to us all. Lovers leave, jobs disappoint, others hurt us, we’re short on money and patience, and there are dark clouds looming. Everyone’s experience is different, and even when we know someone well, we may have no idea what they’re going through inside. Our personal sorrows are private and we may not wish to share them. Instead of putting everything out in the open and letting everyone see what’s wrong, we may slap a smile on our faces, and pretend all is well. We might push ourselves through the heartache and keep going. There is no way to know what anyone else is really going through unless they tell us, and private pain is just that – private. Still waters look lovely, and the sun glistening on the surface can never expose what is happening underwater. There may be piranhas, sharks, poisonous plants or a number of other terrible possibilities. If we only see the surface, we only have part of the story. People are the same way. They may look fine on the outside, and be suffering a terrible pain on the inside. Life isn’t always easy and we’re all going to suffer at some point. By being patient and listening, even when things look fine, we can be supportive and helpful to those around us.

Some people guard their emotions. They don’t share their troubles with others, and when things go wrong, they may prefer to face them alone. We may learn of their difficulties through someone else, and want to help while still honoring their privacy. By extending ourselves we can do something for them without prying into their personal lives. Just being there and offering our friendship can soothe a difficult situation and make the road ahead a little easier.

Sometimes people are short, impatient or rude with those around them. Maybe they’re just impolite, or maybe there is something more going on. Painful situations can cause a lot of stress and if someone near us is acting out in difficult ways, before we lash out we can step back and look at everything objectively. There may be more to the story than we can see. Being supportive and kind, even in difficult situations, may go a long way toward healing a broken heart or painful experience. We’re all in this together, and by showing we care, and helping those around us, we can bring great light into the world.

Today, remember that things are not always as they seem. Be kind and supportive to those around you, and willing to help when needed. Your light can lift others and brings comfort and cheer to those in need. The whole world is blessed because you are here. There is greatness in you, and you bring goodness to us all.

A Million Steps

11 Feb

We all have ideas about what we want to do, where we want to go, and the kind of people we want to be. When we ponder the attributes we want to gain and master, we may be overwhelmed at how far we have to go and hard it will be to achieve them. It may seem like we’ll have to take a million steps – a million steps forward just to get there. It might be difficult, it might be far away, and it might take a long time to reach the goal. If we aren’t determined to win, the chances of success will be slim. But if we really want the goal, if we’ve set our minds on reaching it, it does not matter how hard the journey will be or how long it will take. Every step forward will take us closer. On days when we feel confident and energetic, we may move the ball far ahead. Other times when our lives are complicated and we’re stressed, nothing may change. The goal will always be there waiting, and there will always be a way to reach it. We don’t have to get there today, or tomorrow, next week or even next year. There is no cutoff date or end that will stop us from pressing ahead. With persistence and patience, we can proceed in ways that move us closer, and in time, however long it takes, we will succeed. Every destination is possible and we are stronger and wiser than we think we are. Nothing can keep us from reaching any goal we desire.

There are often many responsibilities and tasks we need to address. We have families, friends, jobs, and endless things that take our focus and keep us busy. It’s important to take care of our lives and do what needs to be done, but even when we’re busy, we can set time aside for what we most want to accomplish. By keeping our personal goals in focus and doing something every day to move us a little closer, we will reach every destination we desire.

Our personal choices are ours to make and we don’t need anyone else’s agreement or permission. If the goal is difficult and we’ve been pushing forward for a while, someone may tell us to give it up. They may say it’s too hard and we should be happy with what we have. We can certainly take any advice we like, but nobody knows us better than we know ourselves. We know what we want, and with focus and determination, we will have it.

Today if you want a change in your life, but it’s far away and hard to reach, trust yourself. You are amazing and powerful, and nothing is too difficult for you to manage. Step forward toward your dreams and keep your eyes focused on the goal. Every single destination is already there for you. Be confident and stand strong. You are incredibly capable, and you will prevail.

Labels and Names

10 Feb

There are billions of people on the earth. They all look different, have different customs, their lives are varied and there are endless interpretations of every aspect of life. We’re all unique and are entitled to our own opinions and ideas. We can do anything we like, and if we meet someone who is very different than we are, and don’t understand them, we may assign a label to them, or lump them into a group. We may call them any of a thousand different things we think describes them according to our own ideas and impressions. Labeling people generally does nothing good. Putting people in boxes restricts them and may change how we think of them and how they respond to us. Being called a name may be flattering or it can be uncomplimentary and degrading. We are all people sharing the planet. We don’t need everyone to think like us, or look like us or follow the same beliefs and standards we set for ourselves. By honoring other viewpoints and listening to different perceptions, we’ll be enriched and learn more about ourselves and those around us. Nobody only wears one color all the time, or eats the same foods every day. Differences are important and bring great depth and variety to our lives. By understanding those around us and sharing our lives with them, we will find great satisfaction and wisdom moving forward.

When we’re in a group, it’s a lot easier if everyone is on the same page. If we’re all focused on accomplishing the same goals and agree on how that should be done, things may go more smoothly than if everyone wants to do things their own way. Different ideas and ways of doing things can either bring complications or embellishment to group dynamics, depending on how we view them. If we’re open to hearing various ways of doing things, and trying another way forward, new ideas will form that may completely change our perspective.

Right is right and wrong is wrong – we can all agree on that. But one person’s idea of what is right may not agree with someone else’s. Being different doesn’t mean being wrong. If nobody is getting hurt, and it’s just a matter of interpretation, all ideas are worthwhile. If we’ve always done things a certain way it can be hard to adjust if someone comes along and turns everything upside down. By being flexible and willing to bend in a new direction, we will learn new ideas and find great success.

Today if you have labeled someone because of their personal characteristics, think again. Remember the great blessing and enrichment differences can bring. Listen to alternative viewpoints, and try to understand the situation from another perspective. You are very intelligent and wise. Be open to contrasting ideas and your life will be enriched. Everyone is valuable and there is great success ahead for us all.

Do Something

9 Feb

Everyone has dreams and goals they want to achieve. We can spend hours thinking about “how it will be” when we get to wherever it is we’re dreaming about. Thinking about what we desire helps us define exactly what we want to do, but simply thinking about it will never change anything. While we continue on in our jobs, our families, and our lives as they are, we may be silently wishing things were different. If only we could do this, or go there, or accomplish that, we think everything would be better. Nobody can read the future, but one thing is certain, simply thinking about what we want isn’t going to make it happen. Our dreams aren’t going to suddenly appear before us, all shiny and new, ready to be ours, simply because we want them. Our lives are filled with routines and things we need to pay attention to, but there is always the possibility of change. There is time to turn around and move toward what we want the most, and when we’re ready to start, the road will be there for us. Doing nothing changes nothing, but if we do something, just the very first thing to start the process forward, we can begin the journey toward any goal. The first steps on a new road can be intimidating. It’s different than what we’re used to, and there is no way to know what will happen next. But being unsure cannot stop us from moving forward. We have all the courage and wisdom we need to open any door and manage any complication. The road ahead isn’t always clear, but if we’re determined, we will be able to find our way. Every dream we think about, every destination we desire is possible. We are the only ones powerful enough to keep us from success. Nothing can hold us in place and we can have the lives we desire most.

Fear is a powerful emotion. If we’re afraid of the unknown, and worried we can’t get through, we may never attempt what is needed to reach our goals. Nothing is guaranteed, and few roads are paved and clear without problems. If we don’t trust ourselves to be able to handle what might happen, we may stay in place indefinitely, simply dreaming about what could be. But we have already overcome many complex and difficult issues, and found our way forward. We can trust ourselves that no matter what develops or gets in the way, we will find the answers we need, and be able to continue ahead.

Life is filled with endless opportunities. We never have to stay where we are and continue doing the same things. If we’re ready for a change, and want something new, it will be there for us. There are unlimited things to do and places to go. We can go as far as we desire and accomplish anything. By trusting ourselves, and our ability to overcome whatever may block our path, we can step forward confident of success. The goal may take longer than we planned, and the road may be harder to travel than we imagined, but if we keep our eyes focused ahead, nothing can keep us from success.

Today, stop dreaming about what you want and take the first step forward toward the goal. You are more powerful and wiser than you think you are. There isn’t anything you can’t manage, and no problem you can’t solve. Be confident and trust yourself. There is greatness in you, and nothing can keep you from winning. Everything is there waiting. Step forward, and claim it.
