Choosing Kindness

17 Apr

We make millions and millions of decisions as we travel through our lives. Some are inconsequential and don’t impact us, and others are more important and can be far reaching. It really won’t matter in the long scheme of things which shirt we decide to wear today, but our lives may be intensely impacted by who we marry, where we work, and with whom we affiliate. If we’re careful and take our time to make the best decisions we can, we may avoid complications, but even then, unexpected things may arise that give us heartburn for a time. Everyone has their own ideas and opinions regarding what they’re doing and what’s happening. If we feel others are missing the mark and we have the right answer, we may disregard them and push them aside. Everyone has something to offer, and nobody knows everything. If it’s important to us that others accept our opinion, we may insist that our idea be the one chosen. We might have the best answer and we might not, but one thing is certain. If we demand that our views are the only ones permitted, we’ll never get the chance to see what others have to offer. We’re entitled to our own opinions, and so is everyone else. Being right might be important, but if we must choose between being right or being kind, what we choose will determine what comes next. Our relationships are important and how we treat them often sets the tone going forward. If we value everyone’s point of view, and treat them with kindness even when we disagree, we will keep the lines of communication open, and protect our connections. We can share our own viewpoints, and be confident in allowing others to share theirs.

Our ideas are important, but not everyone will agree with us. We don’t need permission to do anything we desire, and we don’t need others to align with our choices. However, if we’re in a situation where we must follow someone else’s lead, and we disagree, we can still move forward with grace and patience. We don’t always have to be in control. Everyone has good ideas and there are many roads to every destination. If we must go along with something we didn’t choose, we can do so with determination and focus, and reach success.

If being right is the most important thing to us, in the rush to make others agree, we may forget how important our relationships are. We all want to be heard, and nobody wants to be bullied or pushed around. If we’re sure we have the answers, we can express our opinion with patience and kindness, and then ask for support. Others will be more interested in hearing our proposal if we’re considerate and open to their opinions as well. We are smart and capable, and with patience and grace, will accomplish all our goals.

Today if you’re sure you have the best idea for moving forward, share your thoughts with those around you and allow them to contribute. Be kind and open to other opinions and reach consensus that involves everyone. You are amazing and talented, and can accomplish anything you desire. Build connections as you move forward, and you will reach every destination. Nothing will stop you from achieving success.

Do It My Way

23 Mar

There are all kinds of people in the world and we all have our own opinions and ideas about how we think things should go. It’s nice to have different points of view and they may bring a broad spectrum of ideas that help us decide on the way forward. But with difference sometimes comes conflict. It’s one thing to be offered an opposing viewpoint, and quite another to have someone tell us we’re wrong and we need to do things their way. Some people are very sure they have the answers and if we aren’t following along, may try to force us to into compliance. If they don’t agree with the way we’re doing things, and they have authority over us, they may stop us and make us comply with their views. We are always in control of our lives, but there may be times when because of circumstance we have to follow someone else. It’s frustrating when we can’t chart our own course and hard to feel important if we feel we’re treated simply as minions. If we must submit to someone else’s plans, we may have to tread water for a time, but can still express ourselves and be open about our own ideas. Offering a suggestion may open the door to change and allow us more control as we move forward. We are smart and capable, and have a lot to offer. Everyone has something of value to share. Life is all about change and whatever situation we’re in now will eventually modify. When it does, we can choose the road we want to travel, and move ahead with clarity and confidence. Success will always be there for us, and we will achieve it.

Some people are very smart and know more than others about specific situations. If we’re working with them on something and they share information that helps, we can take advantage of their knowledge and expertise. Or we can thank them for their suggestion, and continue forward on our own road. Just because someone knows something doesn’t mean they have all the answers for us. We already know what we want and where we want to go. We can listen to any advice that’s offered and then choose the way ahead.

If we see someone struggling and have information that may help them, we may offer it. If we’re sure they’re headed in the wrong direction, we may suggest an alternate course but then we must let them choose for themselves. We’re all in control of our own lives, and may do anything we desire. We can choose the way forward, even if it’s different than what everyone else thinks we should do. We don’t need permission or agreement to do anything. By honoring that privilege in ourselves, and respecting it in others, we can decide on our next steps and move forward toward success.

Today if you see someone struggling and are sure you have the answers they need, you may offer any suggestion you like. Explain your point of view and then let them decide for themselves. We can all choose our own way and travel our own roads to get to any destination we desire. Chart your individual course and decide what you want. You are incredibly wise and capable, and nothing is beyond your reach. Every dream is possible. Step forward with confidence, and you will succeed.

The Road

11 Mar

Everyday something new happens and we can’t see what’s coming next. There is no way to anticipate the unknown. All we can do is take one step at a time and face whatever presents itself as it arises. All roads have a destination and the road we’re on is going somewhere. If we’ve chosen the way ahead the destination may be clear and obvious. It’s easy to plan when we know the way forward and where it will lead. But life is uncertain and sometimes we get turned around and pointed in directions we never intended to go. People make decisions that affect us, things go wrong, unexpected events derail our plans, and endless other possibilities can knock us off course. If we’ve been pushed onto a path we didn’t choose, we may be uncertain about what will happen and unsure where we’ll end up. Foreign roads can be unsettling. When the terrain is unknown, and we can’t see ahead, it’s hard to know what to do. If we’re facing something we’ve never been through before and there is trouble and complications, we may feel lost and untethered as we try to find our footing. Stepping into the unknown isn’t easy, but we can trust ourselves and remember how strong and capable we are. We may feel lost for a moment, but we will find our way. The road may be unclear and murky ahead, but with each step we will see a little more. We have all the courage and wisdom we need to find our way through anything. Nothing is strong enough or confusing enough to hold us in place indefinitely. We’ll find the way forward, and in time, reach success.

There is no way to know everything ahead of time. Even when we plan carefully and chart our course with clarity and wisdom, things may go awry. There will always be many unknowns in every scenario. When the road turns unexpectedly, we may face problems that tangle up our plans and stop us in place. We can take the time standing still to look at all the options ahead and find the opening we need to continue forward. Things may go wrong, trouble may come, and everything may go up in smoke, but we are intelligent and wise, and will find our way through.

Sometimes things happen that completely derail our plans for the future. Everything we wanted to accomplish may suddenly be impossible, and all our ideas will no longer work. When that happens, we can sit down in frustration and refuse to move, or we can review every available option and find a new way to move forward. If we want to continue ahead, nothing will ever be powerful enough to stop us. Every dream is still there for us, and when we’re ready, we will make them ours.

Today if you’re on a road you don’t want to travel but can’t step away, be patient. Change is constant and soon you’ll be able to chart your own course. You are smart enough to manage any complication and find your way forward. Every dream is possible and with clarity and wisdom, you will gain the life you want the most. You are powerful and intelligent. Step forward with confidence. Nothing can keep you from success, and you will prevail.

What I Do

25 Feb

Every day we make dozens of decisions and do countless things. We may have many responsibilities and tasks that need to be completed, places to be, and people to meet. How we accomplish our tasks and what we choose defines who we are and tells the world more about us. If we’re honest, what we say we’re doing will actually be reflected in our actions. But if things get away from us, and we fall behind, we might choose to stretch the truth in an effort to buy some time. If someone asks us about a task they’re waiting for and we don’t want them to know we haven’t even started on it yet, we may tell them we’re working on it and expect to complete it soon. Telling a story that’s not true may hold our place for a while, but it won’t work indefinitely. When the real truth comes out, we may get caught short and have to explain ourselves. The old saying, “Do what I say and not what I do,” has never worked. What we say is only part of the situation. What we do tells the whole story. If we bend the truth about what’s going on, and pretend we’re doing things we aren’t, chances are we’ll face complications. Truth will always rise, and if we’ve been dishonest, it’s only a matter of time before we’ll be found out. We can say anything we like. We can create an amazing and interesting story, but what we actually do tells the world who we are. If we want the trust and confidence of the those around us, it’s imperative to be completely honest, even if we’ve dropped the ball. Failing to follow through or accomplish a promised action cannot hold us in place. We can revise our plans and still find success.

They say image is everything. We’re encouraged to protect and build our “brand” and make sure everything that reflects on us is positive. It would be great if everything we did was flawless, and every move we made took us closer to the goal. But this is real life, and we’re not perfect. Things go wrong, we make mistakes, there are misunderstandings, and missed opportunities. Nothing will always go exactly right. If we stumble, we can right ourselves and continue on. We can change anything that isn’t working and start again. Every possibility is there for us, and we are smart enough and wise enough to make them ours.

We are where we are. Sometimes we don’t move forward the way we hoped we would, and sometimes we get stopped completely. Lying and pretending to make things seem different than they really are, or to make us look like we’re further along will only backfire on us in the end. We are strong enough to face the truth of every situation, and intelligent enough to find the answers we need. If we’re stuck, we can revise our plans. If we’re lost, we can get help. Nothing is beyond our reach, and with patience and determination, we can make all our dreams come true.

Today if you’re tempted to pretend things are different than they are, remember how important your honesty and integrity are. You are amazing and capable, and nothing is too difficult for you to manage. Be clear and confident. You can do anything. Take a step forward and move toward the goal. Every success is there for you.

The Name Game

18 Feb

The world is full of names and labels that help us understand what things are and what we’re dealing with. Although they can be helpful, they can also be misleading. After all, we can call anything we want by any name we desire, and if we want to mask something undesirable, can deflect away from any negative influence. We may see this in advertising campaigns. Sales won’t increase if problems and complications are highlighted, and renaming them in ways that make them seem acceptable can help disguise them. We might do the same in our lives. For instance, instead of saying someone is mean and rude, we might simply say they are challenging and intense. Learning to label things in ways that make them seem easier may help us in some situations, but like all things, there will be two sides to the coin. Truth is truth and no matter how we try to manipulate it or color it to look like something else, will remain. It’s important to be honest in all our dealings. Difficult and unpleasant situations will remain no matter what we call them, so it’s best to simply state things as they really are. We are capable of facing any complication and managing any problem, no matter how convoluted or intense. We can see and accept things as they really are, and proceed with confidence that we’ll find our way through. We have all the wisdom and intellect we need to travel any road ahead, and every destination is possible. With clarity and confidence, we will succeed.

If we don’t like something in our lives, where we live, the job we have, or some other situation that may be embarrassing or in some way makes us feel uncomfortable, we might pretend things are different and simply use terms that aren’t exactly clear when we talk about them. We don’t ever have to tell others more than we’re comfortable with, and saying things that aren’t exactly true may bring unexpected and unwanted complications. Instead of making up a story that veers away from the truth, it’s better to simply say nothing. We’re in control of our lives and don’t have to share anything we don’t want to. We can be honest and still keep private information to ourselves.

When we’re dealing with others it’s important to be completely honest. Trying to influence someone by glossing over the truth or describing something in ways that divert what’s real may work at first, but in time, the whole story will be revealed. Things aren’t always easy but no matter what the situation is, we can face it openly and with complete clarity. We can handle anything just the way it is. We are competent and capable, and nothing can stand in our way.

Today if you’re dealing with an unpleasant situation, tell the complete truth. Be honest about what’s happening and step forward with confidence. There isn’t anything too difficult for you to manage and manage well. The truth will pave the way forward, and you will reach your destination. Be confident and clear. You are amazing and nothing can keep you from success.
