Twisting Yarn

13 Dec

There are endless roads we can take as we journey through our lives. When we’re working toward a goal and are intent on accomplishing it, we may make excellent plans and keep our focus razor sharp along the way. We can prepare every needful thing to help us reach success but sometimes no matter what we do, the road ahead gets twisted and the way forward is blocked. We can’t predict what will happen and there is no way to know everything that could go wrong. Making our plans a reality can be like knitting. In order to get something functional from a ball of yarn you must twist it around in many different loops and turns to create the finished product. Our lives can be like that sometimes. Instead of one, clear, straight road to the destination, we may find ourselves turning this way and that, backtracking and looping around obstacles to get there. The quickest way to any goal is a perfectly straight line, but life doesn’t usually work that way. We can get tangled up in details, turned around because of someone else’s decisions or have to start over because the road we wanted to travel isn’t there anymore. Lots of things can get in our way and if we’re convinced there is only one way to move forward and refuse to change our plans or modify our direction, we will not prevail. But if we’re determined to succeed and refuse to stop no matter how many times we have to reroute and change our course, we can continue moving toward the goal and reach success. Life is a great blessing but it can be complicated. Learning to adjust and bend to the changes around us and finding new ways to keep moving ahead will take us where we want to go. Every goal is possible but we may have to twist the yarn to get there.

It’s good to be confident when we’re striving for something. It helps us overcome complications that may arise and gives us the strength to continue on. But if we decide there’s only one way to accomplish something and won’t consider other options, we may be stopped where we stand. Nothing is permanent in life and everything changes. Refusing to change when the plans we made aren’t working will guarantee failure. There’s no way to know what lies ahead and our ability to change direction and try new roads will help us find success.

We don’t know what we don’t know and even if we’ve tried to plan for every eventuality going forward, it’s possible something will prevent us from progressing. We can try to force our plans or ignore the problems and hope they’ll disappear. That rarely works and can waste a lot of time. Instead, we can face everything openly and see the situation clearly, modify our next steps to accommodate what’s happened and begin again. We have endless opportunities to continue forward and with determination and wisdom will reach every goal we desire.

Today if you’ve hit a snag in the road and can’t move forward, look at all the possibilities before you. There is always a way to get to the goal. Find the best options ahead and start again. You can accomplish anything you desire and nothing is impossible. Continue on with confidence. Success is just ahead and you will reach it.

Preceding Faith

8 Jan

When we want to change something in our lives or accomplish a new goal, we can adjust whatever is needed to begin forward toward success.  Even if we really want to get to the destination we’ve set for ourselves, sometimes there may be some question in our minds that we will prevail.  We don’t know what lies ahead or what complications we may face, and there may be a slight niggling of doubt we can succeed.  There really isn’t anything we can’t accomplish if we are willing to do what is needed to make it happen.  Even the most difficult of challenges is within our reach but when we start out we must believe and have faith we can win.  We can’t read the future and there is no way to predict what will happen, but if we have faith in ourselves we can face whatever comes and still continue forward.  Faith is not knowledge but the evidence of things we cannot see.  If we embrace it at the beginning of any venture and hold fast to it when things go wrong, we will find our way through.  Faith precedes any accomplishment and without it when trouble comes and complications tangle the way forward, frustration may stop us in our tracks.  We have the capacity for limitless success and there isn’t anything we can’t accomplish if we believe in ourselves.  We have sufficient faith and strength to do anything.  We can embrace any challenge and go forward with confidence that we will prevail.

There are a lot of reasons not to do the things we dream of.  They might take more time than we want to give them, they may be complicated, things may go wrong and we may get tangled up, and it may be more difficult than we thought at the beginning.  If we choose to, we may keep our lives in the same place indefinitely and let go of any desire to change or grow.  But there are limitless opportunities available to us all the time.  The whole world is out there and there is no end to the new experiences we can have.  We have sufficient faith to try new things and trust in our ability to move forward.  We can be brave enough to step on a new road and see where it takes us.

Living a small and predictable life is easy.  It’s nice to feel safe and settled, but we have enough courage to reach beyond where we are to something new.  There are endless possibilities available to us every day.  There are new roads and destinations that will bring us joy and excitement.  We are capable of great success and can manage new experiences well.  We can reach a little further and open new doors to places we’ve only dreamed about.  Life is filled with opportunity and we have everything we need to embrace change and expand our horizons.  Nothing is out of reach and we can make all our dreams come true.

Today if you’ve been keeping your head down and staying on the roads you know well, expand your vision and see what’s possible.  You have sufficient faith and courage to accomplish many things.  Reach further, try a new road and see where it takes you.  Your life will be richer and your understanding will deepen.  Do all the things you dream about.  Everything is there for you.  Go forward.  Success will follow.

Time Out

3 Nov

When we’re children and get a little out of control, maybe get too rambunctious or have trouble getting along in a situation, sometimes we may be placed in time out. We may go somewhere away from others that is quiet where we can sit and think for a while until we feel more in control again. Time out can be a useful tool when things start to get too emotional or hectic and it’s helpful not only when we’re children but also when we’re adults. Many of us have very busy lives with lots to do. We have a lot of responsibility and taking time out may not occur to us even when we feel overwhelmed. Sometimes all we focus on is pushing forward and getting to the next task. We learn to deal with stress and juggle complications as they arrive. Although we may accomplish much the quality of our lives may not be as good as we would like. But we can be successful in getting our tasks completed and still take time for ourselves. We can set a few minutes aside, step away from our pressing concerns, and reset.

In this day and age of technology where we can constantly stream news from around the world it’s easy to get caught up in situations we can’t control. Information overload is an ongoing issue when so much information is so readily available. Although it’s possible to continually be exposed to what’s going on everywhere, there is often little we can do to change or assist in many situations. Everything we see, read, or hear stays with us as we move forward. If it causes sorrow, stress, or anger or impacts us negatively we must determine its value. If there is nothing we can do about what is happening, the information, while perhaps interesting and informative, serves little purpose. We may decide how much influence we want things that negatively impact us into our lives. We can take a time out from all the information available and instead choose to focus on what we can do here and now to make our lives better and impact the world for good.

Just because we can do something doesn’t necessarily mean we should do it. We have countless opportunities available to us every single day. There are things we want to do, things we must do, things we put off doing and limitless versions of each. Our lives are ours to direct and we may make any decisions we like. If we agree to do everything we are asked and strive to do everything we want, we may get overloaded. But we can take a time out. If we’re overextended, we can adjust our plans. If we’re exhausted, we can take a break. If we’re overwhelmed, we can re-evaluate and change going forward. We can step away from all the activity for a while, review objectively what’s happening, and make a workable and comfortable plan for the future. We deserve to be happy and in control of our lives. Taking a time out regularly to refocus will help us achieve that.

Today if you’re busy and pressed and feel things have gotten out of control, take a time out. Step away from the situation for a moment. You know how to make things work more easily for you. You have everything you need to succeed. Think about what you most want to accomplish and arrange things so you are comfortable and in control. You’ll be happier as you go forward and you’ll succeed
