The Name Game

18 Feb

The world is full of names and labels that help us understand what things are and what we’re dealing with. Although they can be helpful, they can also be misleading. After all, we can call anything we want by any name we desire, and if we want to mask something undesirable, can deflect away from any negative influence. We may see this in advertising campaigns. Sales won’t increase if problems and complications are highlighted, and renaming them in ways that make them seem acceptable can help disguise them. We might do the same in our lives. For instance, instead of saying someone is mean and rude, we might simply say they are challenging and intense. Learning to label things in ways that make them seem easier may help us in some situations, but like all things, there will be two sides to the coin. Truth is truth and no matter how we try to manipulate it or color it to look like something else, will remain. It’s important to be honest in all our dealings. Difficult and unpleasant situations will remain no matter what we call them, so it’s best to simply state things as they really are. We are capable of facing any complication and managing any problem, no matter how convoluted or intense. We can see and accept things as they really are, and proceed with confidence that we’ll find our way through. We have all the wisdom and intellect we need to travel any road ahead, and every destination is possible. With clarity and confidence, we will succeed.

If we don’t like something in our lives, where we live, the job we have, or some other situation that may be embarrassing or in some way makes us feel uncomfortable, we might pretend things are different and simply use terms that aren’t exactly clear when we talk about them. We don’t ever have to tell others more than we’re comfortable with, and saying things that aren’t exactly true may bring unexpected and unwanted complications. Instead of making up a story that veers away from the truth, it’s better to simply say nothing. We’re in control of our lives and don’t have to share anything we don’t want to. We can be honest and still keep private information to ourselves.

When we’re dealing with others it’s important to be completely honest. Trying to influence someone by glossing over the truth or describing something in ways that divert what’s real may work at first, but in time, the whole story will be revealed. Things aren’t always easy but no matter what the situation is, we can face it openly and with complete clarity. We can handle anything just the way it is. We are competent and capable, and nothing can stand in our way.

Today if you’re dealing with an unpleasant situation, tell the complete truth. Be honest about what’s happening and step forward with confidence. There isn’t anything too difficult for you to manage and manage well. The truth will pave the way forward, and you will reach your destination. Be confident and clear. You are amazing and nothing can keep you from success.

Keys

14 Feb

Our personalities are rich with expression and varied in how we interpret and manifest information as we move along. Nobody is completely the same all the time. We feel things differently depending on what’s going on around us and who is involved. Every day brings a new situation and we sometimes have to work hard to figure out what to do next. When we need to unlock something to get in, we may reach for our personal key ring. We might have many different keys to choose from, and in each instance must choose the specific one that opens the door we need. We may have a key for our car, our home, our office, the backdoor, maybe a shed or storage area, or many other options. They might look alike but each represents a unique opportunity to unlock the way ahead. Like the keys on our key ring, we have different personal interpretations and expressions for each situation we experience. Maybe we need our wisdom key for a particular problem, or our patience key when things get intense. We might use compassion to open the way to dialog for someone who is suffering, or simply take out the one that unlocks understanding. Each key we possess opens something new and teaches us more about the world around us. Everything we do tells the world who we are. When we use our keys appropriately in the right situations, the road ahead is often easier than if we mix them up. If we use force when endurance is needed, or leisure when we need to work, we might end up somewhere we didn’t intend to go. Learning how to manifest the right options when opportunities present themselves will move us forward toward the goals we’re seeking. We are wise and intelligent, and can find the keys that open any door ahead. Every goal is possible, and we are smart enough, and strong enough to reach them.

Every day things change and it’s impossible to know what will happen next. We learn new skills with each experience and carry all that information with us moving forward. When things go wrong or what we’re trying to accomplish gets stuck, it doesn’t mean we can’t get to the goal. It just means that for now, we don’t have the key to open this particular door. There are many roads to every destination, and we can turn in another direction and find the way ahead.

Like skeleton keys that open many doors, kindness and consideration can pave the way ahead, no matter what’s in the way. Few things make a situation better than a kind word, or a patient attitude. We can be open to new ideas and patiently work through any problems or issues that arise, confident that no matter what happens, we will reach the destination. We are capable of managing any complication, and with focus and determination, can reach any goal.

Today if you’re not sure you have all the keys you need to open the doors ahead, trust yourself. You are more capable than you realize. Every dream is possible, and you already possess everything you need to win. Be confident and step forward. Nothing can keep you from the goal, and you will reach great success.

Believe Me

13 Feb

Life is filled with all kinds of experiences. If we make a bad decision and create a big mess, we may be embarrassed and try to do something, anything to get out of it. Everyone gets tangled up from time to time, and if we’re wise, when we bungle something, we can admit the error and then do what’s needed to correct the situation. But if we want to hide what’s happened, we may choose to lie about it instead. If those around us don’t believe us at first, we may lie again, louder and with more passion, hoping that somehow, the ruse will prevail. Holding onto a lie and refusing to admit the truth changes nothing. It only prolongs the agony and stress of the situation. Truth is the most powerful thing in life and will always rise. Trying to hide it, change it, or deflect away from it may work in the short term, but in time, everything will be revealed. And when all the facts are evident, we will be accountable not only for the original error, but the dishonesty we displayed after the fact. We are what we do, and those around us will decide if they can trust us by the decisions we make. If we try to manipulate the truth and deceive them moving forward, it will be difficult to make strong and lasting connections with those around us. Things are going to go wrong from time to time. We’re going to make mistakes. It’s the nature of life. We can stand strong even when we falter, admit what’s happened, and work to fix any developing problems. There is enough courage and wisdom inside us to find the best way forward. By trusting ourselves, and those around us, we can proceed with clarity and confidence that we will succeed.

It’s possible to fool others from time to time. We can tell half-truths that advance our cause, and when things are going wrong, keep secrets about what’s really happening. In an effort to look more successful, we can tell only the good parts of the story and keep the problems to ourselves. We’re entitled to privacy regarding our personal lives, but if others are involved, it’s important to be completely truthful about everything. Sometimes there will be problems but they don’t mean we aren’t capable. Every goal is possible, even if the road to get there is filled with trouble and complications. We are strong and powerful, and can accomplish anything we desire.

Life is all about learning. We can only know the information that’s available to us at any time. If things change and the road we’re on gets blocked, we can change direction and start again. Every step teaches us something new and we take all the facts we gain as we progress forward with us. Making a mistake teaches us what doesn’t work, and helps us find success. We can trust ourselves to choose wisely and in time, reach every destination.

Today if you’re embarrassed by a mistake you’ve made and want to hide it from those around you, be confident. Nobody is perfect and mistakes do not define you. Admit the error and then do what is needed to correct the way forward. There is greatness inside you. Step forward with clarity and confidence. You are amazing, and nothing will keep you from success.

All Your Fault

12 Feb

There are billions of people in the world and we all have our own opinions and decisions to make each day. When we connect with others and build our lives around them, their ideas become part of our every day experience. Sometimes they may make suggestions about what we should do, and where we should go. We can listen to their advice, and if we decide to do what they suggest, we never know what the results will be. Sometimes things may go well, and we may be grateful for the help. But if things go wrong, our feelings may be far different. If we’re suffering because we did something someone else thought was a good idea, we may blame them for what’s happened and tell them our troubles are all their fault. After all, if they hadn’t suggested the idea, we would never have done it. While it’s true they may own the idea, it’s also true that once we decided to follow through with it, it became ours. We own all our decisions, even the ones that don’t work out. If we follow along, what happens is on us. We are in control of everything we do. There is no way to place the blame for a disastrous decision we make on someone else. Nothing is permanent and no matter what goes wrong, we can change direction. Mistakes are a natural part of life and teach us a lot about our world and ourselves. Accepting a wrong turn and then doing what is needed to correct our course will help us find success. Every destination is possible. Even if we get lost a time or two, we can reach any goal we desire. We can be confident we will prevail, and step forward with clarity and assurance that we will succeed.

Some people feel very confident they are right and when decisions are looming, may challenge those around them. If we don’t agree with their position, we may feel intimidated trying to get our point across. If we sit back and keep our thoughts to ourselves, deciding it’s easier to follow along than take a chance, we own what happens next. Every viewpoint has value and we can voice our opinion with confidence. We are in charge of our lives, and can choose the way forward.

Nobody is perfect and there will be times when we turn the wrong way and things go south. There will likely be someone else who was involved in some way, and if we like, we can point the finger at them and say it’s their fault. Placing blame will never fix our situation, and if we’re being dishonest, may make it worse. We are where we are. How we got there is no longer germane. The best we can do is look ahead and decide on the best road moving forward. Life is filled with all kinds of complications. We can learn from every experience, and make excellent decisions that will take us to our goals. Nothing is out of reach, and with patience, and wisdom, we will succeed.

Today if everything has gone wrong, own your decisions and decide on the best way forward. Mistakes don’t define your life. You are intelligent and capable. Learn everything you can from what’s happened and determine your next step. Every success is still there for you. Be strong and confident. You know what you want, and you will prevail.

Over and Over Again

11 Feb

Everyone makes their own decisions. If we think about our actions before we make them and don’t simply react to what’s going on around us, we have a better shot at choosing things that will move us forward. We all have the right to choose anything we like but we only have control over ourselves. Others may do what they will, and we cannot prevent their choices from affecting us. If someone hurts us, we can learn from the experience and pay closer attention to our dealings with them. If we could look at only the facts and make our decisions clearly and without influence, everything would be simpler. However, we’re human, and our emotions are part of everything we do. If we get hurt by someone we love, we may let them close enough to hurt us again. Everyone is responsible for their own actions and if we’re involved with someone who is mean and hateful, they will be accountable for those choices. But we’re accountable for what we do as well, and if we continue to allow them to hurt us, that’s on us. The old saying, “Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me,” is valid. If we allow others to hurt us over and over again, we are partially responsible for the pain we suffer. We never have to stay in any situation that isn’t beneficial. We can always step away and move on to someplace new. If we remain in place, and allow ourselves to continue to be abused, we own that choice. There isn’t any situation powerful enough to hold us down indefinitely. We always have the ability to change. We are more powerful than we imagine, and can do anything we desire. We can have the lives we dream about by making choices that take us to it. Every day is a blessing, and we can reach any goal and find complete happiness.

Promises are sacred commitments. If someone makes a promise to us, we hold it close and fully expect them to fulfill it. If the promise is broken, so is part of our trust. If they continually make promises and never keep them, we learn their word is worthless. If we continue to trust them, we will likely be disappointed. We can say anything to get what we want. We can promise the moon and everything that goes with it, but unless we fully deliver, our word means nothing. Deciding to keep our commitments and always follow through will open valuable doors for us, and pave the way toward success.

If we’re caught in a situation where we’re suffering but there is no easy way out, we can decide what we want the most. No matter where we are, we can move. The road may be difficult, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. We are powerful and intelligent, and no matter what’s going on, can find our way forward. Our happiness is important. We can move away and start again. Every dream is possible and we have all the courage and wisdom we need to make them ours.

Today if you’ve been hurt, step back and look at all your options. You never have to stay anywhere you don’t want to be. There are endless opportunities possible, and you have everything you need to find the way forward. Be strong and trust yourself. Every blessing is possible and you will succeed. Be confident. The best is just ahead.

Hear What I Say

10 Feb

We communicate constantly in many different ways. Although most of our communication is non-verbal, what we say counts a lot. Good communication skills can open many doors for us and when we’re open and state exactly what we want and how we feel, those around us will understand us more clearly. What we say not only communicates to those around us, but has a great impact on us as well. If we’re feeling awful and express that, our words may reinforce our feelings. Each time we tell others or ourselves out loud how badly we feel, we are listening. Our verbal expressions tell us again what’s going on. If we continually talk about how awful things are, or that we’ll never get through whatever is happening, we are teaching ourselves to believe it. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t talk about our feelings – we should – but we need to remember that each negative statement not only communicates how we feel to others, but tells us as well. We hear everything we say. Repetition secures our memory, and if what we’re learning is we’re unhappy, we won’t likely forget it. Nobody lives in nirvana and there will be times when our lives don’t go the way we want them to. Bad things will happen and we will struggle. As we’re navigating through a hard time, we can pay attention to the messages we give ourselves and remember how strong and capable we are. We can trust ourselves to overcome whatever we’re facing and find peace and happiness once again. If we say things that boost us up, the road will be easier. There isn’t anything we can’t handle. We can be confident and clear that no matter where the road goes, we will prevail.

How we phrase our concerns can have an impact on how they affect us. When we’re facing a difficult challenge, we can say we’ll never manage it and it’s impossible. Telling ourselves we can’t handle a situation may construct roadblocks ahead and keep us from finding solutions. It’s impossible to look for answers when we’re focused on failing. No matter how hard the issue is, we are smart enough to figure it out. Nothing is too difficult for us to manage, and we have all the tools we need to do anything.

Even when things are going wrong, we can have faith in our abilities and the future ahead. Terrible things may happen, we might fall down, and everything we thought was real may disintegrate. But we will still be here and nothing can hold us in place forever. The sky is never going to fall. Darkness will lift, and the sun will rise again. We are incredibly capable and nothing can keep us from success. We already have everything we need to do anything we desire. Every dream is possible and with determination and focus, we will make them ours.

Today if you’re facing a very hard challenge and feel overwhelmed, remember how many obstacles you’ve already conquered. Remind yourself that you are powerful and nothing is too hard for you to manage. Stand strong and step forward with confidence. You are amazing and can accomplish incredible things. Be confident and trust yourself. Nothing can hold you down, and you will succeed.

Not Me

7 Feb

Nobody is perfect and although we try to always make good decisions and choose well, sometimes we’re going to make mistakes. It’s the normal course of life. We might decide to do something that seems good at the beginning but turns into a complete mess, screwing up our lives and anyone else involved. It happens to everyone and nobody is exempt. We’re going to go the wrong way from time to time, and what we do after that will determine what happens next. When the bottom falls out and we’re left holding the bag, we can try to deflect the blame onto someone else. We could say it wasn’t us, we weren’t involved, nobody told us about it, and a million other excuses that won’t change anything. Pushing the blame for something we’ve done onto someone else will never help, and will reflect badly on us going forward. Many times, everyone already knows who was involved when things go wrong. Pretending to be invisible or making sure we’re somewhere else when it all hits the fan won’t fix anything. We’re accountable for everything we do and every decision we make. Hiding, deflecting, pretending or trying to dodge our involvement will only delay the inevitable. It’s far better, no matter how bad things are, to stand tall and admit our involvement. It’s only a mistake, not the end of the world. Nothing is permanent and no matter what’s happened there will be a way to correct our course. We are intelligent and can find the way forward no matter how convoluted the situation may seem. With confidence and courage, we can address any misstep and make whatever changes are needed to point us in the right direction. Every destination is possible and we will find the way ahead.

It’s impossible to know everything about everything. When we’re making decisions, there may be something we can’t see or some fact we don’t know about. We can only use the information available to us at any time, and if we discover later there is more to the story that affects the way forward negatively, we can modify our plans. If we’re flexible and open, we can still find our way to the goal despite any complications. Life is filled with possibilities and there will always be another way ahead. With focus and planning, we can reach any destination we desire.

There may be times when we might be blamed for something we didn’t do. It’s difficult to feel the scorn of others for something we’re not responsible for and we may certainly stand up for ourselves and protest our innocence. If doubt still remains, we can continue forward making the best choices possible, and in time, truth will prevail. We can make excellent decisions that show the world who we are, and that take us where we want to go and help us achieve our most valued goals. We are strong and powerful, and we will prevail.

Today if things have gone wrong from a decision you’ve made, own your part and do what is needed to correct the situation. Mistakes happen and you can change direction. Look at everything openly and decide on the best course of action. You are wise and intelligent, and all the answers are there for you. Trust yourself. You will prevail.
