Letting It Fall

19 Nov

Life is complex and we’ll go through many different experiences.  Some things are predictable and easy, but we may face difficult and painful situations we don’t believe we can survive.  There may be serious hardship and disappointment, and our hearts may get broken. There is no way to know what tomorrow will bring, and even if we try to plan well, and are careful in our decisions, things may change and our world may get turned upside down.  Getting hurt isn’t easy and if we must endure intense pain, we may build a protective barrier around our feelings.  We may erect an invisible shield of armor to keep others from getting close enough to hurt us. We may keep them at arms length and try not to get too attached. Doing something to prevent getting hurt seems like a good idea, but if nobody can get close to us, we will never be able to build strong, lasting relationships.  It takes courage to let others really know us and share our most intimate thoughts and ideas.  Nobody wants to suffer, but we are intelligent and have all the courage and wisdom we need to understand who we can trust. If we let the armor fall a little, and allow someone to get close, we will open the possibility for deep personal interaction and find joy in building a close connection. We have so much to offer, and bring such light to the world. We can share that light with those around us, and open the door to great happiness.

Few things hurt more intensely than a broken heart. If we’ve been hurt by someone we love, and the pain has been overwhelming, we may swear off close relationships indefinitely.  We may decide we’ll never fall in love again, and do things that will prevent us from getting too close.  We can choose to live our lives alone, but the connections of others bring great depth and richness to our lives. We can learn from what has passed, and take that knowledge forward to help us build a confident, happy life. By using wisdom and trusting ourselves, we can let others in, and find lasting contentment.

When trust has been broken, it’s very difficult to build back up. If someone has hurt us deeply, we may struggle to trust them again. We’re all human and nobody is perfect. People make mistakes, sometimes serious mistakes.  Their decisions belong to them, and need not affect the choices we make. We know who we are and what we want, and can be confident that no matter what has happened in the past, we will reach great success moving forward.

Today if you’ve been building armor around yourself to protect you from pain or heartbreak, trust yourself. You are more powerful than you imagine, and nothing can hold you down forever. Stand strong and look ahead with confidence. You have all the courage and wisdom to face whatever may come. Nothing is too difficult for you to manage, and there is great happiness ahead.
