Life is filled with challenges and new experiences. Every day may bring something we haven’t seen or heard before. We never know what will happen next. If we’re timid and feel unsure, we may try to avoid anything we aren’t familiar with. We can try to restrict our contact with others, and keep the exact same routine, hoping to protect ourselves from new developments and difficult situations. Restrictions may keep us from some situations but may also prevent us from achieving our goals. Limiting access in one area may end up limiting our access in others we need to reach success. If we want rich, fulfilling lives, we must be willing to face trouble and complications as they arise. Hiding out will never help us become the person we most want to be. Difficult issues will come, and the road may get complicated and twisted. We might have to face a whole myriad of problems, but we don’t have to face them all at once. We can take things slowly, and unravel the knots one at a time. We may not be able to solve everything at first, but as each issue is settled we’ll move closer to success. It may take a lot of time, and the changes may be incrementally small at first, but even tiny advances move us toward the goal. Small victories count. By moving forward line by line, and step by step, we will reach the destination. If we get stuck, we can step back and look at everything objectively. The answers we need will always be there for us, and with persistence and patience, we’ll find them. Every success is possible. If we keep moving forward, nothing can keep us from any goal we desire. We are strong and wise, and can be confident we will prevail.
Big, splashy successes are impressive. We all notice when someone accomplishes something huge that positively impacts everyone around them. But not all important accomplishments are broadcasted for everyone to see. We have private victories that may seem small in the overall scope of life, but that change our lives in positive and helpful ways. Each tiny success is important, and by building on them as we move forward, we will accomplish everything we desire.
Every change we make that moves us closer to our goals helps us reach success. If we want to be stronger, we don’t have to train for an Iron Man competition. We could just start exercising a little more each day. If we want to learn to cook, we don’t have to go to culinary school. We could just start reading a cookbook and try something easy. Incremental changes may seem insignificant, but each accomplishment, no matter how small, moves us toward success. We don’t have to start out being the ocean. We can begin as one drop of water, and move forward with confidence we will succeed.
Today if there’s something you want to accomplish but it looks too big and difficult, take one small step forward. Do one thing that moves you closer to the goal. Tomorrow, do another, and before long you’ll be well on your way to success. You are smarter and more powerful than you realize. Nothing is out of reach. You can do anything and go anywhere. Be confident. All your dreams are there for you, and you can make them come true.
