There are endless decisions to make as we navigate through our lives. Some are insignificant, some are important, some are serious, and others may completely change our direction. Not every decision will have a great impact, but large or small, they are ours to make. They may go the way we think they will and when they do, we’re happy with the choice we made. But that isn’t always the case. If we make a decision that doesn’t go well, blows up in our face, or completely ruins our plans, we’ll feel very differently about it. If others influenced us, we may try to blame them and that might deflect the attention away from us for a time, but will never hold up. If we didn’t have all the information before we pushed forward, we can blame those who provided whatever information we had. There are all kinds of creative ways to pretend we aren’t responsible, but in truth, we own every choice we make. They belong completely to us, and nothing can change that. Right or wrong, good or bad, we choose what we want, and then face whatever consequences our choices bring. Nobody is perfect and we all fall down from time to time. If we falter, and things go wrong, the destination may elude us. It doesn’t mean we won’t be successful in the future or that the roads ahead are forever closed. It’s just a detour while we figure out what to do next and learn more about the way forward. We have unlimited chances to move ahead. One bad decision can never hold us in place. We can be confident that no matter where we are, or what problems we must face, we will find our way. Every success is possible and we can be sure we will prevail.
Some people are great escape artists. They get tangled up in a problem they created, and somehow find a way to disappear before everything falls apart. When questioned they may deny their involvement or say they knew nothing about the situation. It’s not always our job to hold others accountable for what they do, even if it negatively impacts our lives. We are where we are, and trying to make someone confess their part in the mess may only waste our time. We are highly intelligent and capable, and no matter what’s gone wrong can find a way to correct our course and continue on.
It’s unfair to leave others to clean up a mess we’ve created. If we dug the hole, we need to fill it. Walking away and ignoring the issue doesn’t excuse us. Nobody gets everything right every time. If we’ve created a problem, we have everything we need to solve it. Standing firm and doing what is needed to correct our course will bring us great satisfaction and confidence. We are strong and powerful, and nothing is beyond our reach. We can do what is necessary to stay on track and move forward toward our goals.
Today if a decision you made is crashing and burning, and you want to run and hide, stand still and look at everything objectively. This is just a bump in the road. Begin to untangle the problem and decide on the best way forward. You are smarter than you think you are and nothing can hold you down. Be wise and step forward with confidence. Every success is there for you, and nothing will keep you from it.
