Facing Fear

24 Mar

Every day is a new beginning and we never know what will happen. We have wonderful, amazing days, some boring times, and a lot of average and predictable moments. Sometimes we might face a very difficult, frightening and unsettling situation. No matter where we are or what we’re doing, everything can change in an instant. When we’re up against a big challenge that tests our stamina and courage, and we aren’t sure what to do, we may feel overwhelmed, and for a moment, may be scared out of our minds. If we’re so unsettled that we can’t think, we can stop and let everything sink in until we begin to comprehend what’s going on and start to form our next steps. Fear is a natural response to threatening or alarming situations. It may come over us quickly but it doesn’t mean we’re weak or incapable. When our fight or flight reflex has been triggered, our survival instincts are on high alert. We can run and cower, and try to hide, but the most effective response to fear is to face it openly and see everything clearly. The situation may be worse than we imagine, or it might be more workable than we first thought. By facing it head on we can clearly look at the whole picture and begin to formulate a plan. There is great power to be gained by standing firm and looking straight into the abyss. We have more courage and stamina than we think we have, and there isn’t anything that can overcome us. By calmly and bravely looking at everything, we will see the way forward, and find our footing. The world is full of surprises and there may be times we are taken off our guard. But we are powerful and wise, and nothing, absolutely nothing, can stop us.

When we go through routine days, we may begin to believe our lives are predictable, and in some ways they may be. We mostly know where we’re going, and may be sure of what will occur along the way. However, we only have control over our own personal decisions, and there are many others making choices we may know nothing about that cause ripples in the water and knock us off course. Unforeseen things may happen, we may be shocked by a sudden turn, and the road we were on may completely disappear. We are strong and can modify our direction when things change. We can find our way forward, no matter what comes.

The world is a big place and sometimes what happens in lands far away may impact our personal lives. Diseases travel around the globe, and unexpected problems arise. We are flexible and wise enough to figure out what to do in any situation. We can be proactive and care for ourselves, and do what is needed to make sure we’re safe. Nothing stays the same forever, and no matter what complications come, in time they will modify and we’ll be able to continue ahead. We already have everything we need to succeed, and with patience and wisdom, will find our way.

Today if you’re facing a very difficult situation and you’re afraid you won’t survive, trust yourself. Look at everything openly and stand strong. You are a great asset to the world and there isn’t anything you can’t do. Be confident and be sure. You are amazing, and nothing will keep you from success.
