Long Way Around

22 Jan

Everyone has their own plans for moving forward, and their own ideas about how things should go. If we have control over a situation, we can make all the decisions necessary to ensure it goes our way. It’s great when we can drive the train and choose the destination, but that won’t always be the case. We share the world with a lot of other people and it’s unlikely any of them will see everything exactly as we do. There will probably be times when although we’re sure we know exactly what needs to happen and how we should proceed, we have no control and must do what someone else has decided. It’s frustrating when our input is minimized, and we’re expected to follow a plan we don’t agree with. All our goals are possible, but there may be periods when we’ll have to take the long way around to reach them. Stepping further and further away from the road we want to travel is maddening. We may find it hard to interact with those making decisions that are diametrically opposed to our plans, but we have the patience and wisdom needed to manage whatever we must. Our viewpoints are valuable, and we can express them calmly and graciously. It’s important to hear all options possible and by voicing our personal opinions, we may open new doors that will take us closer to where we want to be. Some may listen to what we have to say, or they may disregard us, but speaking up allows us to at least be heard. If we can’t change the situation, we can manage it for now. Nothing stays the same forever, and in time, we’ll be able to adjust our course and get back to the roads we want to travel. By trusting ourselves, and watching for the opening we need, we can make every dream reality and reach all the destinations we desire.

Some people are very powerful and influential. They may make demands and requests we don’t understand or agree with, but if they have authority over us, we may have to acquiesce. We can do what is necessary to go along for now, but change is constant, and there will come a time when we have the chance to move on to something else. By keeping our options open and watching carefully, we will find opportunities to change course and move closer to the path we prefer.

There is no way to control our lives to prevent difficulties or hardship from coming our way. Life is full of unexpected complications and when they arise, we’ll have to deal with them. They may cause us serious discomfort and take us off track while we manage them, but they won’t last indefinitely. We know what we want, and even if we must take the long way around to get it, we can still succeed. Every opportunity is there for us, and with determination and focus, we will prevail.

Today if you must step away from your plans to do something you don’t want to do, keep your eyes focused ahead. Detours don’t mean your journey is ending. You know what you want, and nothing can keep you from your goals. Be patient and wise, and the doors ahead will open. You will reach every destination you desire and find great success. There is great happiness ahead, and you will achieve it.

Shelter

18 Jan

When we’re outside and the weather suddenly turns, a hard wind begins to blow and rain starts pelting us, we may quickly look for shelter. We may rush to find cover so we can be shielded from the storm. We want to find somewhere to be protected from the onslaught until things settle down. Physical storms can happen unexpectedly, and we may be caught unaware and unprepared. The same is true in our personal lives. Everything can change in a second and we may find ourselves suddenly exposed and vulnerable to situations that threaten to destroy our progress or personal well-being. Instead of seeking a roof to protect us, we may need the shelter of someone else’s advice and counsel. We’re all in different places in life and what we’re going through that’s new and unexpected may be something someone close to us has already overcome. We can ask for help when things fall apart and lean into the understanding of others until we find our footing. Nobody knows everything, and we don’t have to face hard challenges alone. There will always be help there for us, and by reaching out and seeking it, we will find the comfort and guidance we need to get through. Storms will come and trouble will follow, but every answer will always be there for us. We know how to get help and we will find our way. The shelter of those who care about us will help shield us from the torrent until we are able to stand on our own. We’ve already faced many difficult times and overcome, and we will again. We can trust in our ability to get the help we need and find our way through. Every destination is possible, and nothing can keep us from reaching them all.

There are billions of people on earth and they’re all making choices and decisions. Each choice brings a result and when those results affect the road we’re on we’ll have to find a way around it. Screaming and complaining because there’s something in the way will never move us forward. There will always be way around any obstacle we must face. We can find another road in another direction and still achieve our goal. A detour is not the end of our journey. Nothing can hold us in place forever, and we will find our way.

When our lives are going well and we’re reaching success, someone near us may suffer a hardship. If they need help, we can extend ourselves and offer assistance. We’re all more connected than we realize, and by being the shelter for someone else in times of stress and discomfort, our compassion will increase, and our understanding of others will deepen. We are wise and capable and can lend our strength to help others through. Our kindness and consideration will enrich those in need, and bring light to us and the world around us.

Today if there’s a storm raging and you don’t know how to proceed, ask for help and let those who care about you give you shelter until you find your way. You are strong and capable, and will find all the answers you need. Be confident and trust yourself. All your dreams and goals are possible. Step forward and the road will open. Nothing can keep you from success, and all your dreams can be yours.

Fault Lines

20 Jul

As we go through our lives and make decisions, sometimes we take a wrong turn and make choices that don’t work out.  We might make decisions that take us somewhere we don’t want to go or bring us hardship.  If we are heavily influenced to make a decision and we agree to it and it doesn’t work out we may blame the person who pressured us to comply.  We may say it’s their fault we are miserable.  While it’s true others may strongly influence us and their pressure may be great, if we decide to go along with their request the decision is ultimately ours.  The choice belongs to us and the results of that choice are also ours.  We own them.  We may say we were forced to do something we really didn’t want to do and there may have been great pressure to comply but the choice we make is ours.  There is no way to push the consequences of our decisions onto others.  We may be angry we complied and we may be unhappy with what has happened, but we own the decision.  Of course, those who pressured us have their part to answer for but we direct our own lives and what we choose is our responsibility.

Blaming can be a dangerous game.  If we make it a habit of blaming others or situations for our decisions we may successfully push the attention onto them but it will never change the truth.  If we don’t accept our role in our decisions and say it’s someone or something else’s fault, we can’t learn from the experience.  If we don’t learn from what has happened, we may repeat the whole process again.  The old adage that those who don’t learn from the past are destined to repeat it is true.  If we can’t accept our responsibility for a bad decision we can’t learn the lessons that may keep us from making the same choice again.  Nobody wants a life going from one disaster to the next but if we don’t learn from our choices that may be our experience.

Making mistakes is a natural part of life.  We don’t know everything and we don’t know what we don’t know.  We sometimes blunder through with half the information we need to make a good decision and sometimes we are blinded by promises that are half true.  If we falter and choose something that brings hardship or disappointment and take the time to see where we made the wrong turn it can help us prevent doing it again in the future.  There is great benefit in going through hard lessons and if we are wise we will take the time to learn as much as we can as we navigate them.  Many times we make excellent decisions that take us where we want to go.  We often choose well and are happy with our choices.  We can be confident that if we make a wrong turn we will be able to right our course and go forward with courage.

Today if you’ve made a wrong turn and chosen something that has brought you disappointment or hardship, accept your decision and move forward.  Learn all you can from the experience and be confident.  You are wise and able to choose well.  A setback will not stop you.  Turn your course and continue again.  You will find great success.
