Silver Linings

31 Mar

Everything is fluid in life, and nothing is certain. When we want to accomplish something, we can do our research, make excellent plans, and chart a positive course ahead, but we can’t read the future. Although we have complete control over the choices we make, there is no way to know about all the other decisions being made by those around us. Someone completely unconnected to us, maybe even far away, may do something that causes the dominoes to fall in our direction and when they reach us, suddenly all our plans have to change. The road we chose may close and all the ideas we so carefully put together may no longer work. It’s disappointing, sometimes heartbreaking, when what we want isn’t possible. We may feel depressed for a time, and unable to think about starting again, but nothing stays the same forever. We can take time to grieve if we need it and then when we’re ready, we can look at all the options before us and choose our next steps. Hard times come to all of us, but with every experience there will be something of value to carry forward. Weathering the storm will make us stronger, and we’ll have more knowledge than we had before. There will be a silver lining if we look for it. Life is all about learning and everything we go through teaches us something new. Whatever we gain, even if it seems small now, will embellish us in ways we may not perceive. We are strong and capable, and we know what we want. If we can’t move ahead as planned, we have all the wisdom and intelligence we need to find another way. If our situation isn’t workable, we can set our plans aside for a time, and when things change, return and start again. We have everything we need to do anything we desire. Every dream is possible and with determination and focus, we can have the lives we want the most.

Sometimes unexpected developments stop us in our tracks. The doors that were previously open and welcoming may close and force us to change direction. There is never only one road to any destination. If the goal is still possible, we can chart a new course and continue on. If circumstances prevent us from achieving it right now, we can move on to something else and wait until the opportunity to try again presents. We can do everything but we may not be able to do it all today. We can make plans for the future, and when things open again, we will be ready.

It’s very hard to stand still when we want to move. It’s challenging to wait but waiting gives us time to evaluate every possible option, and see every opening. We can look at everything clearly, review the benefits of each choice and make a plan for when things change. We are completely capable of finding our way to any goal we desire. If we have to wait, we can. We know what we want, and in time, we will achieve it.

Today if you’re frustrated with a situation that’s holding you in place, think about how you want to move ahead. Make a plan for the future, and prepare for when things change. The door may be closed now, but it will open, and when it does you will be ready. Everything you desire is still there for you. Be patient and stay focused. Every dream is possible, and nothing can keep you from success.

Pulling It Up

6 Dec

Our lives are often busy. There are responsibilities to take care of, work that needs to be done, family we need to spend time with, and endless details that require our attention. It’s good to accomplish much but as we hurry from one thing to the next, it’s easy to lose sight of our personal goals and what we really want. It’s hard to focus on ourselves when there are so many outside details tugging on us. The days fly by and before we know it much time has passed and the things we want to accomplish are still pending, and waiting for us to pull them up. Our lives are important and we can do anything we desire, but we have to plan for what we want and then work to make it ours. We’re always in control of our time, and even if when we’re obligated and involved, can make sure we set aside what we need to do what we want to accomplish most. There will always be more demand than we can fill, and our lives can easily be consumed by the needs and desires of those around us and the situations we’re in. But we’re in charge, and never have to do more than we’re comfortable with. We can take care of business and still work on our own personal aspirations. We can have the lives we dream about if we plan for them and make sure we have the time we need to make them ours. There isn’t anything we can’t accomplish if we’re determined to succeed. Every day we can move a little closer to the goals that mean the most and take us where we want to go. We are wise and incredibly capable, and nothing is out of reach.

Tradition and routine are powerful forces in our lives. If those around us feel very strongly about keeping things the same, and we want something different, we may face intense opposition. Doing things the way they’ve been done for a long time, and going along may keep the peace, but will never bring us satisfaction and happiness if we yearn for something else. We can honor the decisions of others, and still live our lives according to our own desires. Every option is possible and we can create the lives we want the most.

Stepping into unknown and foreign territory can be frightening. We don’t know what lies ahead, and may be unsure we’re headed in the right direction. However, we can make any strange and new destination ours by stepping forward with confidence and opening the doors. We are flexible and can understand anything before us, and even if we’re unsure at the beginning, will gain the confidence we need by moving forward one step at a time. The whole world is there for us and the possibilities for success are limitless. Nothing can hold us back from what we want, and we have all the courage and wisdom we need to reach any goal we desire.

Today if you want something new and are ready to move toward a goal you desire, take the first step forward. You are strong and wise, and nothing can keep you from anything you want. Be confident and trust yourself. Every dream is possible and you can have the life you desire. Step forward. Success is there and you will reach it.

Through the Darkness

5 Apr

When we’re on the road to achieving a goal, each step forward takes us closer to where we want to go. We may be able to see some of the road ahead, but beyond that we don’t know what will come. Sometimes things go easily and we navigate forward without problems. Other times it may get dark, complications may arise, and we may be unsure we will find our way through. Nobody can read the future and our circumstances are always changing. There may be serious problems or trouble we must navigate to get to our goal. When we’re at the edge of darkness we may be hesitant to continue forward. It’s unsettling to look into the abyss, not knowing what lies there, and determine to walk forward anyway. We know what we want but the desire to achieve something is only the first step. If we really want to accomplish anything we must be willing to do what is needed to get there. Sometimes that means walking through darkness to get to the other side. We have sufficient courage but when it’s dark it’s hard to see and we may stumble trying to find our way. There will always be light at the end of every trial and if we continue forward, despite the difficulty, we will reach it and achieve the goal. Complications and problems are a natural part of life and we can plan for them and do what is needed to work through them. Every goal is possible and every dream can come true. We can be resolved in our decisions and continue to move forward with confidence. Life is filled with opportunity. Nothing is too difficult for us to manage and we can achieve anything we desire.

Nobody has a life constantly filled with sunshine and butterflies. Trouble comes to us all. We don’t live alone in the world and there are lots of people around us making decisions and doing things that may bring us hardship or difficulty. Situations change and complications happen. Sometimes things go wrong and we may get hung up or stopped trying to figure out what to do next. The roads we travel may get convoluted and things may arise that confound us and muddle the way forward. But we are wise and capable and there isn’t anything we can’t comprehend. When difficulties arise, we can look at them objectively and find the way through.

We may face very dark nights filled with uncertainty and confusion. We may believe they will never end and there is no way through. But no night, no matter how long or dark, will last forever. The sunshine will come and we will find our way through. Every problem has a solution and nothing is beyond our reach. We can be confident and sure even in the midst of turmoil. We know what we want and will find the way to achieve it. Nothing is too difficult or complex for us. We can accomplish anything we desire.

Today if you’re trying to find your way through a difficult situation, keep walking forward. There isn’t anything you can’t manage and you’ll reach your goal. You are amazing and nothing is beyond your reach. Be confident. Every door will open and you’ll achieve your dreams. Take another step forward. Success is just ahead.

Filling the Tank

21 Jul

There are a lot of demands on our time and energy.  There may be a constant need to complete tasks that are sometimes pressing and urgent and we take care of things as they come.  If we keep up a steady pace and stay busy we will accomplish many things but as we move forward every activity may drain us a little and after a time we may feel exhausted and unmotivated.  When we’re driving our cars we’re well aware that when the gas needle starts pointing to empty we need to fill the tank or we’ll be going nowhere.  The same is true for our personal lives.  We sometimes forget that we don’t have unlimited energy or resources from which to draw as we move along.  We can give a lot but at some point the tank will creep close to empty and it will be time to fill the tank.  It’s impossible to give our best when we’ve been tapped out.  When we start to feel sluggish and our passion has waned it may be a sign it’s time to refuel.  Nobody has endless energy and we all face times when we’ll need to recharge.  It’s not hard to refill the tank when we’ve lost our power.  If we engage in activities we enjoy the most our spirits will rise and we’ll feel renewed energy.  If we like being outdoors, a short walk may lift us.  Or we could turn on our favorite music and take some personal dance time.  A break with good friends and time enjoying their company may refresh us.  It doesn’t matter what we choose to restore so long as we take the time to do it.  We have so much to offer and can be a positive influence on the world around us but if we want to make an impact we need to be sure we’ve filled the tank and are ready to go.

The demands to do more and accomplish more seem to press on us every day.  If we are asked to do more than we can, we may modify the request so we can be successful.  Others may do things differently, they may be faster or reach higher than we are comfortable.  Although it’s good to reach beyond our grasp if we want to find success we must also acknowledge our personal limitations.  Maybe we can’t get it done as fast as someone else but it will be done perfectly.  We can do an excellent job at any task and still be sure we’re doing it in ways that are best for us.

Stretching our capabilities gives us greater skill and confidence as we move forward.  We can embrace new ideas and projects and as we do we’ll learn more and move further down the road we’re traveling.  We can be as involved as we choose and each opportunity will open new doors for us.  We have everything we need to do anything we like and if we’re mindful of our personal needs we will find great success.  We know what’s best for us and how to manage our lives.  When we take the time we need to care for ourselves nothing will stop us.

Today if you’ve been pushing yourself constantly doing many things and accomplishing much, remember to take some time to nurture yourself.  You are a great gift to the world and we all want to share time with you.  Make sure you recharge and restore your energy when you need to.  You have so much to offer and we’re all blessed you’re here.

Filtering Connections

4 Apr

“Well, that face, but with better headlights. You know how hers have kind of dimmed lately? Heidi Klums beams would do. And her teeth. Or, ooh, that Britney Spears girl. She’s got great knockers. But she’s a tad muscular. Uh, actually, you know what? Her ass would do, too, if she had a better grille. Like, uh, Michelle Pfeiffer back when she did “Grease 2”. But she’d have to be a little smilier than Michelle. Kinda like Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, before she got Stamosed. But not as skinny. Someone a little meatier, like Heidi. But without the accent. You know those accents: yah-yah-yah-yah. They really get old fast. You know what I mean. Someone like that.”   Shallow Hal

There are all kinds of people in the world and limitless opportunities for us explore. When we’re open to trying new things, and letting new people into our lives our experiences become broad and far reaching and we learn a lot. Differences are what make us unique and create a depth to our lives that sameness could never offer. If we keep our focus narrow and require that each experience be pre-qualified by a set of parameters we’ve determined, the roads we travel will be narrow and unyielding. Personal restrictions may filter important experiences with others from our lives. Narrowing our scope of opportunity prevents us from having full and rich interactions and our growth forward may be stunted. We may decide what’s comfortable but if we have so many filters that must be met before we can open a door, we may find ourselves locked inside a world that is small and uninspired.

There is nothing wrong with setting high standards for the things we want to do or the people with whom we affiliate. We may decide how we live our lives and who we spend our time with. But differences bring richness and allowing new ideas and situations to come forward helps us understand the world. There are countless interpretations of life and endless ideas and opinions, each offering a new way to see things. If we can reach beyond our pre-determined ideas of what is best and open up to something new our lives will be enriched and our understanding will widen.

We may require countless things to happen before we move forward and each one filters something out we may experience. We can do anything we want to do and being open to new ideas and events will deepen our understanding and enrich our lives. We don’t need pre-requisites and filters for everything. We can let things happen as they will, allow different expressions, and open our eyes to new and diverse ways of seeing things. There is a lot to experience in life. Being receptive to new interpretations gives us the richest and most rewarding return as we navigate forward. There are endless new things to try, people to meet and doors to open. We can be welcoming to new experiences and accepting of differences as we live each day.

Today if you’ve been filtering your experiences with ideas about how things should be, open the playing field a little wider. Welcome new ideas and you’ll be amazed at what you’ll learn. Your life will become richer and deeper. There are endless new things to see and learn and do. Broaden your vision and see everything available to you. Let the filters go and open all the doors. You’ll have a greater experience as you move forward.
