Making It Rock

16 Apr

Life is complex and since we don’t live in a vacuum there will likely be other people around us much of the time. When we’re closely connected to someone else, they may have suggestions about how they think we should live our lives and what we should be doing. It’s easier to nod and agree than to set out on our own, and in an effort to keep things even, we may simply go along. When we’re in a group and everyone is doing the same things, there may be pressure to conform. Following along may keep the peace, but it’s impossible to reach our own destinations by riding in the back seat. Most people feel comfortable when those around them are on the same page and doing the same things. It’s easy to fit in when you look like everyone else. Floating along downstream may be scenic and comfortable but sitting in someone else’s boat won’t take us where we want to go. The destinations we desire can only be reached if we step out on our own and begin toward them. Getting out of a boat is going to make it rock, and some may be unhappy because we’re upsetting the balance. “Why can’t you just sit still and go along” they may ask. Well, we could, but our lives are important, and all our dreams are waiting. When we’re ready to reach them, we can step away from the tide and set out on our own. Support from those close to us would be nice, but we don’t need it to design the way forward. We know what we want, and already possess everything we need to get it. By choosing what’s most important to us and moving toward the goals we most desire, we will gain great happiness and satisfaction. Every single dream is possible, and with conviction and determination, we will make them ours.

Blue is a beautiful color. It’s the color of the water and sky, and it’s pleasing to see. It’s lovely, but if everything we wore and everything we owned was blue, it would become tiresome and boring. Colors are enhanced when they’re accented by their opposites or those next to them on the spectrum. Differences bring depth and interest, and enrich our experiences. We never have to go along with all the “blues” if we want to be something else. Every color and every choice are possible, and we can paint our lives any way we desire.

Life is unpredictable and we never know what will happen next, but we can plan our way forward, moving toward the goals we most desire. Complications will likely come, problems may arise, and the road may get twisted and turned around, but we are intelligent and can find our way forward. Broken pavement doesn’t mean a final stop. We can step around what’s in the way and continue toward the goal. Every destination is possible, and we have all the wisdom and courage we need to reach them all.

Today think about what you want the most, and then take the first step toward the goal. You are amazing and your life is important. Every dream is possible, and you are powerful enough to make them yours. Decide what you want and begin toward the goal. Nothing is out of reach, every dream is waiting, and you have everything you need to succeed. Trust yourself and be confident. The whole world is there for you.

Not Enough

4 Apr

Everyone has something to offer those around them. Nobody knows everything and we all have a unique perspective and insight that brings depth and richness to the world. What we see and how we express it is individual to each of us, and the variety of personal interpretations is endless. Without the creativity we offer, the world would be a very bland and boring place. We bring value and our own particular impressions to every situation. It’s good to have different opinions and ideas but there are some people who believe their ideas are the only ones acceptable, and if we don’t agree, we are worthless and insignificant. If our ideas don’t conform to theirs, they may criticize and demean us, implying because we are different, we are stupid. Such arrogance is never helpful, and having a different viewpoint does not mean we aren’t smart enough or good enough to participate. We are entitled to our own ideas and they are as valuable and worthwhile as anyone else’s. There is no one perfect road ahead. There are endless varieties of every choice and all have value. We can be confident even if we don’t agree, and embrace our individuality even if it’s different from those around us. Every color in the spectrum is beautiful in its own way. We don’t have to be blue to fit in. We can be green, or red, or yellow, or anything else we desire. Listening to and accepting other viewpoints will enhance our understanding of every situation and teach us more about the world around us. We can be confident in our own ideas, and still be open to the ideas of others. The way forward isn’t determined by one road only, and we can embrace new directions and concepts that will enrich our knowledge and awareness. Every road has its benefits and we can explore them all.

People sometimes project their own insecurities onto those around them. If they are struggling with feelings of self-doubt and insecurity, they may imply others aren’t good enough or smart enough. They may feel stronger by making those around them feel small. Masking our own issues by belittling those around us will never solve them. Instead, we can look openly at what’s bothering us and work on resolving whatever’s in the way so we can be confident and successful moving forward.

There is no way to know everything and if we’re in a situation where we don’t have the knowledge we need to move forward, we can step out and find the information we need to proceed. We can take the time necessary to get the facts and determine the best options for finding success. Every answer is always available to us and if we look carefully, we will find whatever we need to advance and get to the goal. Nothing is out of reach and we are smart enough, and wise enough to accomplish anything we desire.

Today if your ideas don’t match those around you, trust yourself and be confident. You don’t have to conform to anyone else’s viewpoint. Your interpretations are valuable and worthwhile. You bring a unique perspective that enhances every situation. You know what you want and you know how to get it. Speak up and let others hear your voice. You are amazing, and the whole world is blessed because you are here.

The Spots

14 Jun

There are all kinds of people in the world and we run into different types of personalities and behaviors every day. We like to be around people who share our viewpoints and interpretations but sometimes we may be attracted to someone who is very different. When we connect with them we may be interested in their differences at first but as time goes by we may want them to change to be more like us or in some way we think would be better for them. If we really want someone to change we may believe that with enough influence from us, they will. A leopard has spots that have evolved over time that make it unique and distinguishable. They don’t look like any other animal, nor do they try to imitate anything but what they are. We aren’t leopards but like their spots, we are unique and distinguishable by our behaviors and choices. Our personalities develop with each day that passes and every decision we make. We ultimately become the people we create. We can change anything we like at any time but it’s highly unlikely anyone else will be successful in making us change anything we haven’t chosen for ourselves. We are all responsible for our own lives. No matter how much we may want someone else to change, no matter how good our intentions are or positive the desired change may be, we can’t alter their spots. They belong solely to them and they are the only ones with the power to change them.

It’s easy to keep doing things the same way and changing course or expression takes work but we can alter our course any way we desire. We are all continually in motion and if we want to change something in our lives or behaviors, we have all the power we need to accomplish the task. The catch is we must be motivated enough to do whatever is needed and required to bring about the adjustment. It may not be easy and what we’re trying to do may take serious time and focus to accomplish. But if we’re determined there isn’t anything we can’t do. We can change our spots and direction, and more effectively find success.

Change must always come from within. If we love someone and want them to shift something in their lives we may suggest it to them. If they are reticent, we may cajole them, pester them, or continually nag them thinking that repeated reminders will make them desire the change. We can talk until we’re blue in the face and run out of air but we cannot make them choose our decisions. Our lives belong solely to each of us and every choice is ours to make. No matter what anyone else thinks, we will be the people we choose to be. It is enough to manage our own choices. We can let go and let others determine their own paths and accept their right to live their lives according to their own desires.

Today if you’ve been trying to change someone else thinking you can help them live more fully or happily, let go and focus on your own choices. We are all unique and valuable in our own way and deserve to express ourselves as individuals. You are wise and capable and can create the life you want the most. Focus on your own path and choose the best way forward. Find your own success and great happiness will follow.
