The Big Buy In

19 Jan

There are billions of people in the world, and although we’ll never meet even a tiny percentage of them, there will likely be people continually coming in and out of our lives. They may influence us in different ways, block our path or help us pave the road ahead, be against us or stand firmly by our side. Nobody lives in a vacuum and what’s going on around us will generally affect us in some way. If everyone is getting along and we’re all headed in the same direction, there may be little conflict, but that will never always be the case. Everyone has their own opinions and ideas that may have little in common with what we want to do. Some people are very loud and ambitious, and may tell us with strong conviction what we should be doing and where we should be going. Although we know we are in control of our lives, it can be hard to dismiss someone with a great deal of power and influence. Even if we aren’t sure, we may buy into whatever it is they’re selling. It takes confidence to stand up to strong opinions and choose our own way, and if we’re meek and submissive, we may fall under the spell. If they suggest we dress differently, we may go shopping and change our look. If they think we should work harder, we may stay at the office longer. If they don’t think the person we’re dating is good enough, we may re-evaluate our relationship. Nobody knows us better than we know ourselves, but if we keep doing what others suggest, we’ll never have the life we want the most. Our decisions belong to us, and we can do anything we desire. By trusting ourselves, and standing firm on the road we most want to travel, we will reach the goals we’re seeking and find great happiness. We know who we are and what we want, and with determination and focus, nothing can keep us from success.

Wealth and power have their privileges. People tend to listen to those in positions of great authority or who command a great deal of money. Much of the world seems to revolve around money and power but most of us will never be kings or queens, or possess endless amounts of cash. That doesn’t mean we won’t have any influence. Every time we interact with someone else, we have the chance to share encouragement or valuable inspiration. We have so much to offer simply because we are here, and can bring great light to those around us.

Some people have big ideas and plans that show us ways to cut corners to get to success faster, or promise that if we just buy what they have we’ll find enormous reward. That might work, but it’s nearly impossible to achieve success without time, diligence, and determination focused on the goal. Short cuts may prevent us from learning important facts we’ll need later, and get rich quick schemes are a fool’s errand. We are intelligent and wise, and know what we want to accomplish. By keeping our eyes focused ahead, and continuing to move forward, every destination will be ours.

Today if someone wants you to buy into their big idea, stop and think about what you really want. Trust yourself and make the best decision for moving ahead. You are smarter and more capable than you imagine, and nothing is out of reach. Stand strong, look ahead, and be confident. Nothing is too hard for you to manage, and every dream is possible. Step forward and claim success.

Glare on the Glass

12 Jan

We live in an Information Age. There are endless facts and unlimited information available to us at the tips of our fingers. Anything we want to know or see is quickly available. That sort of information overload can make our lives more interesting or may cause us greater stress. Do we really need to know 40 ways to accomplish something? It’s like going into the old video stores that were stacked with shelf upon shelf of movies we could watch. Seeing so many options never made the decision easier, and often made it harder to choose. But when we want to do something, or buy something, or get something, we can do our research and see what’s available. Once we choose the one we want – which is sometimes the shiniest, most beautiful or easiest looking possibility – we can hope for success. Windows make it easy to look outside, but when the sun is shining and there is glare on the glass, the view may be fuzzy and unclear. When that happens we may get an altered idea of what we’re seeing. The same is true when we choose something we want. At first it may look like the perfect option, but once we get it, and unveil it completely, either by opening a box or starting a process, we may find that what we thought we were getting isn’t exactly what we ended up with. If it’s possible to return, we can do that, but not everything can go back to the beginning and we’ll be where we are. What we do next determines how we’ll proceed. Nobody knows everything every time. We’re all going to be fooled by something at some point. When that happens we can look at everything objectively, and make the best choice for how to continue. We are intelligent and wise, and have all the tools we need to make great decisions. By stepping forward with clarity and confidence, nothing can keep us from success.

Some people are quick to perceive how to get what they want, and can be great actors if the need arises. We may face a situation where someone seems to be exactly what we’re looking for – either for a job, or a relationship, or anything else. They look good, they sound good, and we’re impressed. If they are being honest about who they are, things may go well. But if they’re manipulating us and pretending to be something they aren’t, the results will likely bring disappointment, or pain or both. Mistakes happen but they don’t mean we’re incapable of prevailing. We can correct our course at any time, and move forward toward our goal.

Beautiful, shiny things are attractive, and we may be drawn to them without seeing everything clearly. A beautiful new car is a wonderful thing, but if the price is more that we can comfortably afford, no matter what the salesman says or how much he praises the car, if we buy it, we’re going to struggle. By keeping our wits about us, even when we’ve been captivated, we can ensure we’ll take the best roads ahead.

Today before you make a choice, be sure you’re seeing everything exactly as it is. Look at the situation clearly and decide what works best for you. You are amazing and highly capable, and will accomplish great things. Look ahead with confidence, and choose wisely. Every success is already there for you. Keep your eyes open and you will make them yours.

No You Don’t

6 Jan

We can make any decisions we like as we move forward. We’re in control of our lives and can go anywhere we desire. Being in charge of where we’re headed gives us confidence and helps us reach our goals, but our own personal decisions are all we control. We share the planet with billions of other people, and even if we’re sure we know what we want to do, their decisions may stand in the way of ours. We may face a roadblock we can’t overcome that stops us from moving ahead. If we can see what happened, who’s involved, and why we’re stuck, we might be able to work around it, but sometimes we have no idea why things won’t move along. Something may be going on beyond our reach that closes the door ahead, or reverses our course. There’s no way to know everything about everything at every moment. Even the best of plans may be impossible right now. It’s frustrating when we can’t do what we want, and nobody wants to hear the word “no” when they want something. But life is all about change, and nothing stays the same forever. Despite our desires, we may need to set the goal aside for a time until our situation changes, and the roads ahead open. It’s disappointing for sure, but it doesn’t mean we will never succeed. There will always be something else to focus on until we can begin again. We know who we are and what we want, and nothing can hold us in place forever. By being patient and keeping our eyes trained on the way forward, we will reach every goal and find great success.

If there is someone in authority over us, or someone we value who wants us to do something that takes us off course, we may need to comply. Families, jobs, relationships, and other important connections are always part of the equation. Unless we live on a deserted island (unlikely), those around us will have some influence over what we do. How powerful that influence is depends on our relationship with them. If we must step away from our own goals for a time, it doesn’t mean they are lost forever. Everything will eventually change, and we will be able to return and continue.

When we really want something and have to wait, it’s hard to be patient. We may feel like we’re spinning our wheels while we do whatever else is taking our time and attention. Waiting is hard, but it gives us time to think and helps us refine our plans about how we’re going to proceed once things change. Every goal is possible and with clarity and wisdom, no matter what’s in the way now, when the time is right, we will reach them all.

Today if the road ahead is blocked and you are unable to move closer to your goal, step back and look at everything objectively. A detour does not end the journey. You know what you want. Keep your eyes focused ahead, and be ready when things change and you are able to proceed. You are intelligent and wise, and nothing is out of reach. Trust yourself and remember how capable you are. Every dream awaits, and they will be yours.

Tangled Up and Confused

3 Jan

People are complex. They may willingly share their lives with us but still keep some things to themselves. Even people we know well may hold back and act in ways they think we’ll accept that may not be their true character. It’s possible to get involved with someone and see them entirely differently than they really are. If they say all the right things, flatter us, or in other ways ingratiate themselves to us, we may not be aware of what’s really going on. If someone says they love us but then don’t show up when we’re scheduled to meet, we may be confused and demand an answer. If they want us to stay connected to them, they may say whatever it takes to hold us there despite our disappointment. If this continues, and they let us down again and again, we may find ourselves tangled up in a relationship that sounds great, but doesn’t make any sense. Words are powerful, and if someone wants to, they may try to hold us close despite what they’re doing by continuing to say the things we most want to hear. Everyone wants to be loved. It’s incredibly rewarding and satisfying to know that someone really loves us. When that happens, we feel great and fulfilled, but sometimes the situation isn’t what we imagine and we may get hurt. We never have to stay in any relationship that isn’t working or makes us feel bad. We deserve complete happiness, and no matter what someone says, what they do is who they really are. By stepping back and looking at everything clearly and objectively, our vision will clear and we will know how we want to proceed. We are in complete control of our lives and can change anything at any time. We know what we want, and with focus and determination, we will have it.

It’s good to have friendships with those around us. Many people will come in and out of our lives, and some will be friends, and others will be passing acquaintances. Real friendship and close connections require time and effort. There’s no such thing as a part time friend – we’re either there or we aren’t. If someone we thought was a friend betrays us or lets us down, we can re-evaluate the relationship and make any changes we desire. We are the most important people in our lives, and by keeping our eyes open, and seeing things as they really are, we will find the happiness we seek.

Most people are good and want to choose the right as they move forward. Complicating our lives with lies, fictitious tales, misdirection or other types of manipulation will never make us happy. We can do anything we like, and if we want to create havoc, distrust and disharmony, we can, and we may fool those around us for a time. But eventually truth always rises and if we’ve been dishonest or deceitful, we may be left standing alone. There is greatness in us all. By choosing the best roads ahead, and being honest in all our interactions, we can have the life we want the most.

Today if you’re tangled up in a relationship that’s confusing and doesn’t make any sense, step back and see everything clearly. You deserve the very best of everything and complete happiness. Change what isn’t working and step forward in a new direction. You are amazing and more powerful than you imagine. Trust yourself and be confident. Every happiness is there for you. Move ahead and claim it.

One Too Many

27 Dec

We live at a time of plenty. There is a lot of stuff to buy, to try, to eat, to drink, to play with and to explore. We all have responsibilities and may try to avoid excess in most things in an effort to be effective and successful in taking care of them, and getting things done. But there are times of celebration, holidays, birthdays, even depression, and many other things that happen they may cause us to lose a bit of control. Maybe we eat too much, or drink too much, or do too much, or say too much or endless other possibilities. If we go to the “too much” stage, we may have some clean up to do afterwards. If we eat too much, our weight may increase to a point where we’re uncomfortable. If we drink too much, well there’s the inevitable hangover. If we do too much we may suffer physical pain, and if we say too much, there may be difficult situations ahead. Life is complicated and even when we try to keep everything on an even keel, there may be times when due to circumstance or timing we may lose control and go off the rails for a while. Nobody is perfect and there is no way to predict anything. If we get hurt and are depressed we may stumble. If there are celebrations we may overdo. It’s all part of the human experience, but nothing is permanent. Even when we aren’t convinced, we are still in control of our lives. We can stop to get our bearings again and decide how we want to proceed. We are smarter and stronger than we think we are and nothing is beyond our reach. By paying attention and trusting ourselves, we can always change course and move toward success.

Some people have very little self control. They constantly do things that complicate their lives and upend their plans. They are highly influenced by what is happening around them, and if others are going in a different direction than they are, they may drop everything and follow along. Nobody can fix anyone else’s life. We’re all responsible for every decision we make. We can stop to think about where we’re headed before we jump, and use our best judgement to reach every goal.

When we do things that cause us trouble and keep us from success, it’s easy to blame others. We may say they were too convincing, or too attractive, or too powerful or a million other excuses. Nobody can make us do anything we don’t want to do. It’s a true axiom that we always end up with the lives we wanted the most. When our lives are dysfunctional and upside down, odds are they are the result of decisions we’ve made. By taking ownership of what we’re doing and where we’re headed, we can choose success and reach any destination we desire.

Today if you’re weighed down by decisions that went a little too far, be still and think about what you want the most. There is always a road that will lead you to success. Look ahead and determine how you want to proceed, and then take the first step. You are more powerful than you imagine and nothing is out of reach. Be clear and be confident. Every success is waiting, and you will make them yours.
