Everyone Else

27 Feb

We live in a time bombarded with information. With a single touch we can open ports to endless facts, opinions, and unlimited ideas about every possible subject. It’s good to be able to find data and clues when we need them, but it’s possible to get overloaded and distracted when there is so much available. We can read unending comments and opinions from people we don’t know and probably will never meet, and if we want to, could spend all our time learning about everyone else’s ideas and thoughts. If we constantly tune into what others are saying, and spend our time reading about what they think and what they’re doing, it may leave little time for us to actually live our own lives. We can’t be in two places at the same time. If we spend hours reading about others and their lives, we lose the opportunity to get up and live our own. We can’t focus on our own personal desires and goals while we’re reading about someone else’s. Our lives are important and priceless, and deserve our attention. There are endless goals we can achieve, and incredible destinations waiting for us. We can take control, monitor our time with everyone else, and ensure we do what’s most important to us. We can have the lives we dream about if we plan for them and then do what is needed to achieve them. Instead of focusing on all the interesting things others are doing, we can turn our sights forward toward the goals we most want to achieve. There is great happiness ahead and nothing can hold us in place. All our dreams are possible and we can do anything.

Notoriety can give a false sense of importance. Just because someone is well-known or famous doesn’t necessarily mean their opinions and ideas are germane to our lives. Everyone has their own version of how they think life should go, and there is not one perfect way to live. A big microphone allows people to share their voice with many others, but it doesn’t mean they have all the answers. We can listen to any advice given, and then choose our own way forward. We know what we want and where we want to go. We can trust ourselves to find the best road ahead toward the destinations we desire most.

Our personal perceptions of life reflect the experiences we’ve had and the understanding we’ve gained about the world around us. Therefore, one person’s interpretation about how things are will be different from someone else’s. Differences don’t mean one is right and one is wrong. There are endless ways to view the same ideas and situations. All have value, and express our individualism. We can choose the kind of lives we want, and then make decisions that bring them to us. Every opportunity is there for us, and everything is possible. We can go anywhere and do anything, and with determination will reach success.

Today if you’ve been listening to everyone else’s ideas about what you should do and how you should live, trust yourself. You already know what you want, and have everything you need to achieve it. Every road is there for you and you can do anything. Decide what you want, and then go get it. Success is waiting, and you will reach it.

On the Hook

26 Feb

We interact with all kinds of people. They come and go, we work, socialize, and meet with them for different reasons, and hardly a day goes by without someone else touching our lives. There may be times when we need something from them and if they’re in agreement, we move forward easily and on to the next thing. But not every situation is easy to navigate and if there’s something complex or difficult we want help with, the person we’re asking may not be sure they want to get involved. They don’t want to say yes, but don’t want to disappoint us. So, they may tell us they might help, they’ll think about it, or give us a “maybe.” That allows them to gracefully step away at least for now until they really decide what they want to do. It never helps us to hear “maybe” when we need agreement. It just puts us on the hook while we wait to see what will happen next, and gives control over our progress to someone else. There is no way to know how long it will take others to make a decision, and it’s impossible to wait and move forward at the same time. We’re always in control of our lives, and we don’t have to stay on the hook indefinitely. We can accept any indecision, and then proceed ahead according to what works best for us. There will always be a way forward. If we can’t get the help we need right now for our current plan, we can revise our options and continue on. We know what we want, and there are many ways to achieve our goals. Every road is possible and with focus, and determination, nothing can keep us from success.

It’s difficult to deal with people who struggle to make decisions. They may be unsure about what they want, or insecure about their ability to accomplish tasks. Whatever their reasons, if we need their agreement on something in order to proceed, and they cannot decide what they want to do, we may get stuck. But we never have to hold still waiting indefinitely. If the task is important and we want to move ahead, we can set a time for them to give us their decision or allow us to continue ahead on our own. Our goals are important and by planning well, and taking control, we will reach them.

If someone wants something from us and we’re not sure we want to agree, we may try to stall them. We can take all the time we like in every decision we make, but it’s inappropriate to hold others back in the interim. If we don’t know what we want to do, we can step aside and let those ready to move forward go ahead without us until we’re ready to join them. We can respect the needs of others while still doing what is best for us.

Today if you’re ready to move forward but someone else’s indecision is holding you back, look at all the options possible. There will always be another way forward. Find the road that works for you and step forward. Your dreams and desires are important, and you deserve to make them yours. Be confident and strong. Every goal is possible and you will prevail.

What I Do

25 Feb

Every day we make dozens of decisions and do countless things. We may have many responsibilities and tasks that need to be completed, places to be, and people to meet. How we accomplish our tasks and what we choose defines who we are and tells the world more about us. If we’re honest, what we say we’re doing will actually be reflected in our actions. But if things get away from us, and we fall behind, we might choose to stretch the truth in an effort to buy some time. If someone asks us about a task they’re waiting for and we don’t want them to know we haven’t even started on it yet, we may tell them we’re working on it and expect to complete it soon. Telling a story that’s not true may hold our place for a while, but it won’t work indefinitely. When the real truth comes out, we may get caught short and have to explain ourselves. The old saying, “Do what I say and not what I do,” has never worked. What we say is only part of the situation. What we do tells the whole story. If we bend the truth about what’s going on, and pretend we’re doing things we aren’t, chances are we’ll face complications. Truth will always rise, and if we’ve been dishonest, it’s only a matter of time before we’ll be found out. We can say anything we like. We can create an amazing and interesting story, but what we actually do tells the world who we are. If we want the trust and confidence of the those around us, it’s imperative to be completely honest, even if we’ve dropped the ball. Failing to follow through or accomplish a promised action cannot hold us in place. We can revise our plans and still find success.

They say image is everything. We’re encouraged to protect and build our “brand” and make sure everything that reflects on us is positive. It would be great if everything we did was flawless, and every move we made took us closer to the goal. But this is real life, and we’re not perfect. Things go wrong, we make mistakes, there are misunderstandings, and missed opportunities. Nothing will always go exactly right. If we stumble, we can right ourselves and continue on. We can change anything that isn’t working and start again. Every possibility is there for us, and we are smart enough and wise enough to make them ours.

We are where we are. Sometimes we don’t move forward the way we hoped we would, and sometimes we get stopped completely. Lying and pretending to make things seem different than they really are, or to make us look like we’re further along will only backfire on us in the end. We are strong enough to face the truth of every situation, and intelligent enough to find the answers we need. If we’re stuck, we can revise our plans. If we’re lost, we can get help. Nothing is beyond our reach, and with patience and determination, we can make all our dreams come true.

Today if you’re tempted to pretend things are different than they are, remember how important your honesty and integrity are. You are amazing and capable, and nothing is too difficult for you to manage. Be clear and confident. You can do anything. Take a step forward and move toward the goal. Every success is there for you.

Need To Change

21 Feb

We live in a huge world filled with billions of people. No matter where we are or how small our location, there will be others around us much of the time. It’s unlikely most of us will go through even one day without seeing or interacting with someone else. It’s nice to build strong relationships with those around us, which help us feel connected and cared for. But we’re all individuals and nobody is exactly like anyone else. Those differences are what bring variety and depth to our experience but they may also bring conflict when we disagree or when someone does something we don’t understand. If we’re in a situation where others want to do things a certain way and we disagree, they may encourage us to change and conform so things will be easier. Of course, we can do anything we like, and if we want to follow along, we can, but we’re entitled to our own ideas and opinions, and can choose our own way. We never need to change to fit someone else’s model. While it may be easier when everyone is on the same page and going in the same direction, we’re in control of our lives and can live them any way we choose. We don’t always have to swim downstream. If we want to, we have all the wisdom and strength necessary to turn and swim against the current. Our individuality and personal choices create the lives we want. If we’re happy where we are, we don’t have to move. But if we want something different, the whole world is there for us. Our unique perspective and influence bring richness to others and the world around us. Being confident in our choices, and choosing the life we want the most will bring us great satisfaction and happiness.

Life would be easier if everyone just stayed out of our way, did what we wanted, and didn’t question us. If we had control over everyone else, we could make our choices without any interruptions or complications, and proceed forward unhindered. However, we only have control over ourselves, and those around us may have very different views about what we should do and where we should go. We can listen to any advice that’s offered, and then with confidence, choose the road ahead we most desire.

There will always be many different ways to every destination, and we can choose any way forward we like. We can move along with everyone else on a well-known path, and eventually reach success. The common roads tend to be the easiest, but aren’t always the best. Stepping in a new direction will help us reach a little further, and gain new experiences that will open doors to increased knowledge, giving us additional confidence and strength. Our lives belong to us and we can do anything. We can reach goals others only dream of, and find complete success.

Today if you’ve been going along with others but want something different, step away and choose your own road ahead. You are intelligent and capable, and can manage anything that comes. Decide what you want, and then move forward with determination. Everything you desire is possible. Nothing is out of reach. Be sure of yourself, and step ahead. All your dreams are possible, and you will succeed.

By the Book

19 Feb

There are lots of reference materials available for just about everything we want to accomplish. If we get stuck trying to do something, we can find information to guide us through and give us the directions we need. It might be an owner’s manual, a specialized book, or information we can look for on the internet. We can usually get the help we need for any problem we might encounter. It’s great to find the assistance when we need it, and be able to figure out what’s going on and how to proceed. It would be wonderful if there was a book like that about our personal lives. A reference we could go to when things go wrong and we have no idea what to do, or how to fix it. Imagine, every problem we face already recorded with a list of answers for how to proceed. Now that would be amazing, but unfortunately, that is not reality. There are no individual life manuals available, and we must find our own way through our problems and issues on our own. Fortunately, we’ll get a lot of experience managing difficulties as we go through each day. We may not appreciate the situations while we’re in them, but they give us information about how to solve problems and bring the confidence we need to move forward. Our life manual is simply our experiences. They teach us as we progress and we gain insight and understanding about ourselves, those around us, and the world in general. Everything we do teaches us something. We learn as we go, and with each experience become wiser and more enlightened.

Just like there are many roads to every destination, there will always be more than one answer to every problem. There may be times when it seems there is only one way forward, but we can modify and individualize any plans possible. Unlike working with something mechanical where the parts must be organized exactly as directed in order for things to work, we have the opportunity to differentiate each solution so it works best for us. We always know what we want most, and can do what is needed to ensure we succeed.

We may create defined guidelines for completing certain tasks and goals, and may reach them exactly as we’ve planned. But life is full of surprises and nothing is certain. Things happen, decisions out of our control are made, and we may find that our well thought out plans for moving ahead are no longer viable. We don’t have to give up the goal simply because the road has turned. We can look at all the possible options available and decide how we want to proceed. Every destination is there for us, and by being flexible and confident, we will find the way forward.

Today if you’re trying to hold onto your plans but things are getting in the way, remember there is always another way forward. You can modify your direction and find the road that takes you to your destination. Nothing can hold you in place. Every destination is there for you. Modify your ideas and move forward with confidence. You are amazing and every success is possible. Keep moving forward. You will prevail.
