Small Victories

13 May

There are endless experiences we’ll have as we navigate through our lives. We’ll face countless issues and complications, things will go right and things will go wrong, we’ll prevail or have to start over, and we never know what will happen next. Sometimes just as it seems we’re near the end of a struggle, something changes and we’re right back in the fray. When we’re trying hard to untangle a mess, or are stuck and unable to move, we may feel we’ll never get to the other side and find relief. It’s hard to stay positive and keep trying to look up when we’re being pulled down again and again. Life constantly teaches us endless lessons. No matter how convoluted or involved a problem may be, there will always be something going our way we can be thankful for. If we focus on the one, small thing going right, we’ll have greater strength to continue moving forward. Every small victory counts. If we’ve survived a difficult day, or found one answer to a complicated problem, we are winning. Sometimes the way ahead only opens an inch at a time. If we’re persistent and patient, and continue pushing forward, even if we can’t go far, we will prevail. Our lives might get tangled up and we might feel mired and constrained, but nothing is permanent and eventually everything will shake loose and we’ll be able to advance. In the meantime, we can focus on the small things that work, and the modest advances we’re making. Life is fluid and ever changing. We’ll find every answer we need and gain success. Nothing is beyond our grasp and with focus and determination, we can reach any goal.

When we’re facing a big problem with lots of complications or that involves many people, it may seem insurmountable. We may feel it’s too difficult to find our way through. At first glance things can seem worse than they are but if we step back for a moment and look at the situation objectively, we will find an opening where we can begin. There is an answer to every problem and nothing is beyond solving. We can trust ourselves to patiently and carefully find our way until we reach the answers we need.

If we’ve been on a long, difficult journey and the end is still nowhere in sight, we may begin to consider giving up. We can change direction at any time and if we want to surrender, it’s always an option. But we’re intelligent and capable, and sometimes instead of quitting altogether, all we need is a break from the struggle. We can step away for a moment, find refreshment in something else, and then when we’re ready, return and begin again. We are stronger and more powerful than we realize and nothing is too difficult for us. We know what we want and with determination and patience, will get it.

Today if you’ve been pushing and trying for a while, and feel no closer to the goal, step back for a moment. Turn around and look at how far you’ve come already. You can do anything and have all the courage and wisdom you need to prevail. Trust yourself and start again. You have already won. Success is just ahead and you have everything you need to reach it.

Taking the Hint

11 Nov

Inspiration is a very personal experience. Sometimes it comes to us like a nudge to do something a little differently. Or someone says something and we are inspired to look in a new direction. Sometimes we feel a continual prompting to change our course a certain way. When we receive inspiration we have the choice to listen to it or ignore it. If we’re happy with our lives as they are, we may ignore the niggling thoughts that come to mind and just brush them off. But if we’re trying hard to find our way they may take on more importance. Inspiration happens to all of us. If we listen to it, we often find it brings us information we’ve been seeking, and we have more confidence going forward.

When we’re trying to accomplish something that eludes us, and we really want to get through, but we can’t seem to figure it out, it can be very frustrating. Sometimes if we just stop and let our minds rest, inspiration will surface, and we’ll see the problem in a new way. When we’re stressed and busy it can be more difficult to find obscure answers because we’re so focused on the issues of the moment. But if we take time out, and sit still letting our minds wander, sometimes we find the answers we’re looking for. It seems counter productive when we’re pushing hard that the answer might be found by doing nothing, but sometimes that’s how inspiration works.

When we get a thought about a situation we’re working on that seems odd and completely different from where we are, we might ignore it. But sometimes those strange, new ideas that come to us are the perfect solution for what we need. We can think about them, toss them around, perhaps discuss them with others, and consider how they might work. Sometimes those ideas themselves aren’t the answer but looking at them opens up a new thought that leads us to where our real answers lie. We need to be open to everything that comes to mind and see how it might apply. The key to resolving our questions and problems is sometimes found in the tiniest of suggestions. If we keep ourselves available to inspiration, and open to every possibility, we’ll find our answers more quickly and effectively.

Today if you’re stumped and frustrated by a situation you can’t seem to resolve, stop looking for the answer and let yourself reflect on all the many possibilities – even the silly ones – that might open the door. You’ll be surprised at the answers that will come to you. You already know how to solve the problem. You just need to access the information available to you. Let your inspiration work. Listen to it and you’ll figure out the next step.
