Thorns

Every beautiful, fragrant rose is a delight to see.  They are lovely but each stem is studded with ferocious thorns that can cut and hurt when we touch them.  Thorns can do a lot of damage and we must be careful when handling even the loveliest of blossoms.  It seems counterproductive to have such a beautiful flower with such a terrifying enhancement, but this is how many of our experiences are in life.  When we want something desirable and wonderful, we often have to go through something difficult to get it.  The old saying there is no such thing as a free lunch is true.  If we want roses, we have to put up with thorns, and if we want to achieve our goals, we have to do what is required to get there.  Sometimes there may be quick answers and shortcuts that will take us further and more quickly, but often we must take the long way around one step at a time, and endure everything in our path to make the dream a reality.  We may get tired, frustrated, overwhelmed, or just fed up with the struggle, and still the road is long before us.  We must have enough temerity and grit to grind through the tough times if we want to make it to the goal.  There isn’t anything we can’t accomplish if we’re willing to do what is required.  Being willing to push a little harder, endure a little longer, and continue forward one more time will take us where we want to go.  We can manage thorns and overcome them.  We can reach any goal and find complete satisfaction and happiness in our lives.

There will always be plenty of people around us who have opinions about our lives.  They may say we can’t win at what we’re attempting.  It’s too hard, it’s too complicated, it’ll take too much time, or we aren’t strong enough to get through it.  It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks of our decisions or the path we’re on.  We are in charge of our lives and can do anything we like.  If others disagree, it’s on them.  We don’t have to change our plans or desires just because they aren’t what someone else would choose. We can do things our way and travel any road we desire.

When the journey has been long and arduous, and we’re weary of complications and problems, we may decide to set the goal aside for a time.  Life is long and there are many things to accomplish.  If we can’t move forward toward one goal and nothing we do improves the situation, we can move on to something else and return to it later.  Sometimes success is all about timing. Our lives are constantly changing and when our situation is different we may find the road ahead is clear and we can reach the goal.  We can get to any destination we desire, and be confident we will find success.

Today if you’ve been pushing through a sea of thorns and complications, and the goal is still out of reach, decide how you want to go forward.  You can continue to push ahead, or set it aside  until your situation changes and then try again.  There isn’t anything you can’t do.  You are strong and wise, and nothing is out of reach.  Plan the way forward and be confident.  You will get to the destination and find success.

Avalanche

As we travel our journey through life there are countless turns, switchbacks, detours and times when we must re-route our way forward. There are rarely moments when the road ahead is paved, perfectly straight and without problems. We learn to navigate by adjusting our course as needed, and try to be as flexible as possible in order to get to the goal. Even if we do everything to plan well, sometimes things go awry and all our ideas get stopped in their tracks. It can feel like a huge avalanche has fallen on the road ahead and there is no way around it. We may stop and wait until the road is cleared but there are always other options available. We can sit and watch while others sort out the mess before us, and be patient while a solution is determined, or we can act on our own to move forward. Huge complications that stop our progress take time to untangle and while we’re working on them new options become available. It’s hard to see other roads when we’re focused on moving forward. When we’re stopped we can look around and all other possibilities become clear. There is never only one road to any destination we desire. There are countless ways to travel and endless options to try. We can review all the potential roads ahead and choose the one that works. There is no destination out of reach or impossible to find. We can alter our course and find the way around any avalanche in our path.

Everyone has their own ideas about what can and cannot be done. Some people are confident in their purposes until something goes wrong, at which time they throw up their hands and walk away. If we stop our journey forward every time we hit a snag we’ll end up staying exactly where we are. There will always be problems, there will always be things in the way, and we will often need to change course. Our goals are important and we certainly have everything we need to achieve them. There is no problem we can’t solve, or change we can’t accommodate. We are strong and powerful and can do anything we desire.

We may think we want an easy life, filled with comfort and success that requires us to do little. However, when things are easy we don’t learn anything new and don’t have the opportunity to become strong. Strength is built through trial, not ease. When things go wrong and we have to try harder, or when our plans fail and we have to start over, we gain wisdom and power. We learn to trust ourselves and understand more deeply what we’re made of and how the world works. Everything we need is already inside us. We can reach and find all the courage and insight necessary to go forward toward success and have the lives we want. It’s all there for us. We need only move forward and claim it.

Today if all your plans have been stopped in their tracks and you can’t move forward, look around at the options available. There are many roads that will take you where you want to go. Make a new plan and chart a new course. You will reach your destination. You are powerful and wise, and nothing will keep you from your dreams.

Off the Beaten Path

There are many ways to get to any destination, and countless roads we can travel.  It’s easy to follow others along and go with the flow of traffic.  Roads that are constantly traveled are usually easy to navigate.  They tend to be paved and without much obstruction.  It’s easy to move forward and because we’re on a common road we often have company to enjoy along the way.  Traveling a common road that’s easy is always possible, but if we only travel common roads we will only go where others have gone and see what others have seen.  If we step off the beaten path we may find new experiences that heighten our perception of life and as we push through, strengthen us in ways a common road never could.  It may be harder to forge our own road going forward but what we learn about ourselves as we push through difficulties and complications deepens our wisdom and broadens our understanding.  They say the only difference between mediocrity and excellence is effort.  If we want to have the richest most rewarding lives we can, we must step off the beaten path and forge ahead on our own.  We have greatness inside us and allowing that to come forward and bring with it the courage we possess, we will open new horizons before us we may have only imagined.  Every possibility can happen.  Every destination is reachable.  We can move in a new direction and find the success we dream about.

Others may have expectations about our lives and decisions.  Maybe there are long held traditions that are assumed or accepted behaviors that are encouraged.  We can live our lives any way we want to and if the pressures of expectation are great we may follow along with someone else’s ideas and maintain the norm.  But we get only one chance at this and if we waste our time living someone else’s ideas of life we will forfeit the opportunity to live our own.  We are the only ones who can give the gifts we possess.  Everything we do enhances the world around us and our personal expressions are valuable and needed.  We can do things our way, travel any road we desire, and create the lives we want the most.

There is comfort in traveling easy roads.  The way forward is well marked and there are plenty of signs to help us if we get lost.  Stepping off and going our own way through new territory requires courage to face whatever comes.  There is no way to know what lies ahead but the opportunities we find will open new vistas of possibilities before us.  We have everything we need to travel forward and open new experiences we’ve only dreamed of.  Everything is there for us and we can reach any goal we desire.

Today if you’ve been following everyone else and doing things as expected but yearn for more, step away onto a new road and move toward your dreams.  Everything is available and you can reach any destination.  Open your horizons and travel with confidence.  All your dreams are possible.  Move forward your own way and make them come true.

Standing Still

Everyone has dreams about how they want their life to go and what they want to happen.  If we want to accomplish something we can move forward toward the goal and with time and effort, achieve it.  It won’t always go the way we planned, and it won’t always be as easy as we hoped but anything we want can be accomplished.  If we’ve tried and failed at several goals we may begin to believe we are destined to stay where we are.  We may lose our confidence and courage to step out of what is familiar and try anything new.  After all, there is no way to know what could go wrong or how hard it might be, and if we don’t feel sure we can find our way we may simply choose instead to stand still.  There is nothing wrong with standing still if we’re taking time to plan our next move or if we need to think about the way forward.  But standing still and giving up on moving again will not make us happy.  We may feel comfortable in the same place knowing the scenery and the players, but it’s impossible to move forward or accomplish anything new by staying where we are.  Life is filled with possibilities and we can reach anything if we are willing to stretch.  Even if everything has gone wrong in the past, and even if nothing we’ve tried so far has worked, we can start again.  We have endless chances to succeed.  There will always be another door to open and another road to travel.  We can be brave enough to move ahead and find the way to any destination we desire, and make all our dreams come true.

There is comfort in familiarity.  We know where we are, we know what to expect, and we know who is involved.  It’s easy to figure out the next step when we’ve been on the same road for a while.  But familiar territory was once foreign to us and only after the passage of time has it become comfortable.  Every foreign situation is only foreign until we make it ours.  We can try new things understanding that in time they will become familiar and comfortable.  Stepping out of our routines and taking a chance on something new will refresh us and bring us experiences that will broaden our understanding and deepen our lives.

We cannot reach our full potential by repeating the same patterns day after day.  If we want to go far and develop our talents, and if we want to reach higher, we must be willing to break away from what we know and try something new.  It takes courage to step into the unknown not knowing what lies ahead, but we have all the courage we need to do anything.  There will never be a perfect moment to begin, and waiting for that to happen is the same as doing nothing.  We can start now, today, right where we are, and push forward onto a new road.  We can believe in our dreams and do what is needed to take control of them and make them ours.

Today if you’ve been standing still waiting for the perfect moment to try something new, let go and start moving forward.  Every dream you imagine can be yours.  Be confident.  You already have everything you need to succeed at anything you desire.  Go forward and reach further.  Open all the doors and you’ll find complete happiness.

Mirror Image

We meet a lot of different people as we go through our lives. Some of them may be very attractive to us, and if we meet someone we admire greatly, we may look up to them and desire to be like them. If they have a lot of influence over us and are doing things we want to do, we may begin to copy their behaviors and mannerisms, associate with those they are close to, or even begin to dress like them. We may think if we do all the things they’re doing, we’ll end up with the lives they have. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and that may be true, but imitation will never be reality. Even if we act and dress just like someone else and copy everything they do, we are still ourselves. We can do what is required to achieve everything they have but we will still be living in our own skin. We are all individuals and there is no way to clone ourselves into a mirror image of someone else. We have unique and precious gifts to present to the world that nobody else can give. There is no need to try to become someone else and attempt to capture their gifts and talents to be successful. We have everything we need to define and find our own personal success. We can be ourselves and do things our own way. We have so much to offer and nobody else can bless the world with the gifts we have to share.

We all face all kinds of comparisons and judgements, and there may be times we don’t feel we measure up. Maybe we’re not as financially secure as we’d like to be, or aren’t as tall or beautiful as we want to be, or despite our efforts there are achievements we’ve been unable to conquer. There are millions of people in the world and there will always be someone with more of something we want, but our experience is exclusive to us and we are exactly where we need to be. We can change anything we like and continue to grow and learn as we go forward. Every goal is possible and there is nothing too far for us to reach. Every accomplishment is within our grasp.

There isn’t only one road to happiness or one perfect destination. There are endless possibilities to do what we want and go where we want to go. One person may choose one road, another may choose a road going in a completely different direction and both may find great success. If we’re on the road that takes us where we want to be, we’re successful. There are countless destinations ahead and which we choose, and how we get there is up to us. We don’t have to follow someone else’s path, and we don’t have to go at their speed. We can customize our lives to fit us perfectly and find success.

Today if you’ve been following someone else’s ideas and copying their choices thinking it will bring you success, remember your success is defined by you. It doesn’t matter how anyone else lives their life. Your life is yours to design and nothing is out of reach. Choose the roads that will take you where you want to go. You have so much to offer and the world is blessed for the gifts you bring. Do it your way. Every success is there for you and you will reach it.
