Overdrawn

23 Aug

Most of us don’t have unlimited amounts of money and are so rich we don’t have to track or be concerned about what we spend. Generally, we have to carefully watch our expenditures so we don’t get overdrawn in our accounts and cause problems. There are unlimited things to buy and it takes continued diligence and attention to make sure we stay solvent and manage our transactions. Everyone understands this idea when it comes to money but we may not see it when it comes to our personal well-being. There is give and take in everything and no matter what’s involved, if we give away more than we take in we’ll be overdrawn. If we are working hard at our jobs and doing the best we can and yet our superiors never recognize or thank us for our efforts, we may feel unappreciated and unvalued. In our relationships, if we give our time and consideration to someone who never follows through or reciprocates in ways that show they love us, we may feel unfulfilled and unhappy. In every situation if we’re giving our time, efforts, and attention and receive nothing in return, eventually we’ll feel the loss and may give up altogether. We’re all valuable and important and if those around us fail to notice or show their appreciation for what we’re doing and who we are, we can change the situation. We never have to stay anywhere we aren’t happy and can move forward in a new direction. Our lives are precious. We can do what we need to find complete happiness and satisfaction in every arena. If we’re overdrawn, we can stop spending our assets and move forward with confidence.

Some people are natural givers. They like to serve others and help whenever they can. It’s normal for them to offer their time and energy when they see a need, and they find great reward in serving others. It’s noble to help others and reach out in kindness, and when we can our lives will be enriched. But there is a tipping point in every scenario and if we reach the place where we’re giving and giving and still there is more need, we can step back and realistically evaluate how much more we can offer. We can sacrifice our time and still recognize and honor our personal needs. We need not give to the point of complete exhaustion. We’re in control and can ensure we aren’t giving so much to help others that we’re hurting ourselves in the process.

Our personal needs are important and deserve our attention. Taking care of ourselves is the most important thing we do every day. It’s difficult to serve others when we’re exhausted and worn out. If we take the time we need to be healthy, rested and strong we will be more effective and helpful. We can always take time to restore and recharge. By being wise and mindful not to overdraw our personal account we’ll ensure we are ready when a need arises and prepared to help.

Today if you’ve been giving too much in a situation and feel drained and worn out, step away and take the time you need to restore. You are important and valuable, and there isn’t anyone else like you in all the world. You are a great blessing and bring amazing gifts to us all. Be wise and take the best care of yourself. You’ll feel better and stronger, and more confident moving forward.

Choosing the Ending

17 Aug

There is a popular children’s book series where there are several different endings to the stories.  After reading the basic story in the book, the reader can choose the ending they want from a few at the end.  It’s a great and creative idea that allows us to imagine how it would be if we could decide how things end up.  In our lives it would be wonderful – amazing even – if we could decide where our decisions would take us and design how everything would come together.  We could do the things we wanted without concern for the result because we could always change the ending if we didn’t like where we landed.  But life is reality, and we have all the freedom and power to make any decisions we like but no control over where those decisions take us.  Sometimes everything works out exactly as we hope and other times we may end up in a place that is nowhere we want to be.  There is no way to predict the future and all we can do is look at the options available and make the best choices possible.  Life will take us places we never dream we will go and sometimes we may end up somewhere that isn’t comfortable or easy.  We don’t have to stay anywhere forever and always have the power to change our situations, whatever they may be.  If we land in foreign territory and don’t like the scenery or the players involved, we can move.  Although we can’t control everything, we can always control our own lives.  We can change our location, our relationships, our job, or anything else that isn’t working.  We deserve complete happiness and can do whatever we need to achieve it.

There are all kinds of opinions about life and how we should be living.  We can listen to all the advice we’re given and decide how much of it we want to take, if any.  Some people have very strong ideas about how things should go and if we’re different from them they may try to persuade us to change our ways.  We are responsible for our own lives and can follow their example if we like, or continue to do things our own way.  We know what we want and who we want to be.  Our expressions are ours alone and never have to mimic anyone else.  The unique gifts we bring are ours to offer and enhance the world in ways nobody else could.

When we make decisions that take us far from where we thought we were headed we can choose to go back and start again, or investigate our new situation and see what it brings.  Change offers us new insights and a wider vision of our world.  Foreign territory may be intimidating at first but we can learn about it and make it ours.  There are countless roads to explore and endless locations to find.  If we end up someplace new, instead of running back to home plate, we can see what the new landscape offers us.  There are great blessings just waiting to be discovered and we can be confident and sure we will find them.

Today if a choice you made took you somewhere you had no intention of going, before you retreat, take a look around.  You may find great pleasure and unexpected benefits as you get to know something new.  The world is filled with possibilities and they are all open to you.  Be confident and open all the doors.  There are blessings waiting for you.

That’s It

Frustration is a constant factor as we deal with issues that come in and out of our lives. Most of the time we deal with small frustrations and hang ups, work them out, and move on. But if the thing that’s making us crazy is something we can’t change or we can’t seem to find a way around it we may throw our hands up and surrender. Maybe it’s an annoying individual who always gets in our way or up in our faces making ridiculous or absurd demands that are unworkable, or a situation that no matter what we do refuses to resolve. When we’re tired of dealing with an issue and fed up with trying to find a way to move forward we may decide that’s it, we’re done and walk away. Although we’re capable of finding any answers we need given enough patience and time, sometimes our patience runs out and we don’t want to spend any more time looking. We can change course anytime we choose and no matter what is pending, can move on. Timing is always a factor and we may have to step back and wait for our situation to change before we can resolve an issue. It’s frustrating to feel like there is no way forward and it can be hard to walk away from something we really want to resolve. Getting some distance from an issue will often open new ideas and perspectives and stepping back will allow us to see the situation in a new light. There isn’t anything we can’t figure out and every answer will appear in time. We can set an issue down, work on something else and return when we are refreshed and ready to begin again.

Looking at something too closely may impair our vision of the entire project. Under a magnifying glass a walnut can look like a brain and be completely indiscernible for what it really is. If we’re too close to an issue or too involved in it emotionally, it can be hard to see the entire picture and find the answers we seek. What is impossible to see up close can become clear if we step back and look again. Seeing everything from a wide perspective will help us find the way forward and open up new possibilities we couldn’t see before. If we disengage and look at the situation objectively we will find the road ahead.

There can be a lot of noise and static around us as others come in and out of our lives and unexpected things happen. There may be many facets to the problem we’re facing and combined together they may be hard to untangle. If there are a lot of distractions and complexities it may be difficult to see all the facts we’re dealing with. We can quiet the noise by clearing our focus and deciding where we want to begin. We can solve one issue at a time and find our way to success. We are capable of managing anything we must. We are intelligent and strong, and nothing is too difficult for us to solve.

Today if you’ve had enough trying to solve an issue and are ready to quit, step back and see the entire picture. Give yourself time to think. You know how to solve even the most difficult problems. Look at everything objectively and the answers will come. You are wise and powerful and nothing is beyond your reach. You will find all the answers you need and reach success.

Beyond the Limit

11 Jul

“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”  Chicken Little

We may face times when we’re in situations that are so difficult we feel pushed up against our ability to cope.  We may struggle to understand what’s going on and what is required for us to solve the problem may be more than we think we can manage or tolerate.  Serious, complicated and intensely painful issues are not easy to navigate.  Everyone has an idea of what their limits are for things that go wrong.  Terrible and unexpected things may happen and we may believe we can never survive.  We may suffer greatly but no matter what comes, no matter how horrible and devastating it may be, we will always have everything we need to overcome it.  Our personal limits can be stretched and moved out of the way and we can find resolution to anything we must face.  We have deeper reserves of strength and resilience than we may recognize and we discover them when everything goes wrong and we are left with nothing but our own resources to find the way through.  Turmoil and trouble may be unpleasant but they open the gates to greater understanding and personal growth.  While we’re walking through the fire we learn about ourselves and understand more about life.  At the end of the trial we will be stronger and wiser and will carry everything we’ve learned forward with us.  Trouble comes to us all.  Recognizing and accepting that we’ll always find our way will give us greater confidence and calm as we travel through our lives.

Life is filled with change but there are some things we can always count on.  The sky will never fall, the sun will come up, and whatever we’re going through today will change.  The changes that come aren’t always what we want and there will be times we won’t be able to alter a situation we don’t like.  We may have to change direction when we don’t want to, or accept a decision we find disagreeable.  When the road we’re on turns we can be flexible enough to bend and find a new way forward.  Even during times of disappointment and duress, happiness is possible.  We are always in control of our lives and can change anything to find our way.

We always have control over how we manage our lives and what we do.  When things go wrong and we’re lost we don’t have to sit down and give up.  There will always be options available that allow us to continue moving ahead.  Being open to new ideas and different possibilities will help us create a new plan and reach our objectives.  We are strong and powerful and nothing is too difficult to manage or too complex to solve.  We can be confident in times of trouble and courageous moving forward.  Our destinations will always be there waiting and we will find our way to them.

Today if you’re facing an extremely difficult problem and feel pushed against the wall unable to think, trust your instincts and be strong.  You have reserves ready within you to get you through.  There isn’t anything you can’t conquer.  Be courageous and have confidence.  All the answers are there and you will find them.  Take another step.

One Step Forward

2 Jul

There is much to learn as we navigate through our lives.  There are things we need to master to be effective in our jobs or responsibilities, things we want to accomplish that bring us pleasure, and things that must be learned in order to survive.  The road to understanding anything takes time and effort.  We gain some knowledge simply by living our lives and interacting with others.  But much of what we want to understand and fully embrace requires time and diligence.  We push forward to conquer one step and that leads us to the next.  One thing upon another takes us down the path of comprehension until we fully grasp what we’ve been seeking.  When we want to move quickly we may try to take shortcuts as we process everything before us and sometimes they help but can backfire and require us to take a step back and try again.  It’s hard to be patient when we’re trying to master something important and it requires a long time.  It’s hard to wait for understanding when the knowledge we desire will move us closer to where we want to be.  One thing is certain, if we stop we will never succeed.  Even if what we’re trying to do takes years to achieve we can be diligent in pressing forward a little each day to eventually reach the goal.  By keeping our eyes forward and taking one step at a time we can reach any destination we desire.  Nothing is out of reach and success is always possible.  We have everything we need to do anything we choose.  It’s all there for us.  With patience and determination we can reach every goal.

If we decide to tackle a huge goal that requires much time and effort we may struggle pushing forward.  Those around us may offer their support or they may discourage us perhaps believing the goal is too difficult and we will never win.  They may advise us to be happy with what we already have and to let go of the desire to gain more.  Our choices are ours to make and we may abort any plans at any time.  But if we want to achieve the things we truly desire it doesn’t matter how hard the road gets.  We can continue forward and manage any difficulty required to reach the goal.  We are strong and capable and can make all our dreams come true.

When the road is long it’s natural to tire and desire rest.  We can always step away from any struggle when we need refreshment.  Taking a break doesn’t mean we are giving up.  If we need time to regroup we can take it.  When we’re ready to begin again the road will still be there waiting for our return.  We can have the lives we dream about and do all the things we imagine.  The whole world is there for us and every destination is possible.  We can move forward one step at a time and find success.

Today if you’re pushing toward a goal and aren’t sure you can keep going, decide what you really want in your life.  Every dream is possible and you are strong enough and wise enough to make them come true.  Look ahead.  Decide how you want to proceed, chart your course and continue forward.  Success is always there for you and you will reach it.
