Anchored

18 Dec

Nothing in life is permanent and change is constant. Every day something new comes along, all the plans we’ve made may shift, and we may suddenly be facing an entirely new landscape. The winds of change are unpredictable and may arise unexpectedly. We never know what will happen next, and although we may try to be prepared for unforeseen surprises, we might be taken aback when they arrive. It’s easy to move forward when the road ahead is paved and clear, is well known and well-traveled. We may set out sure of success, and everything may go exactly as planned. Or everything may turn upside down. There is no way to predict the future. All we can do is cope with whatever happens the best we can, and alter our plans and direction in ways that enable us to continue. When we’re going through tumultuous times and everything is unsure, we are never completely adrift in the wind. We have internal anchors that help us stay focused and remind us of our capacity for success. These anchors are created and enriched with each accomplishment we achieve. We are never so far out of our comfort zone that we can’t find our way. There will never be a time when we are so untethered and adrift that we will permanently fail. All the answers we need, even in uncertain times, are already there for us, and the wisdom and knowledge we’ve attained so far will guide us to them. By trusting ourselves and remembering everything we’ve overcome so far, we can summon the courage we need to face anything. Our anchors will always be there to hold us firmly and securely. Hard times will come, things will go wrong, the road may disappear, but we will prevail. Every success is there for us, and with determination and calm, we will reach them all.

When our lives are going well and things are working out the way we want them to, we may feel at ease and relaxed. Enjoying conflict free moments gives us time to rest and consider our options for the future, so that when things change, and clouds appear, we will be confident in moving forward. We are stronger and more powerful than we realize, and nothing can keep us from our goals. Every dream we desire is possible and we have everything we need to make them ours.

Some people think life is like a scorecard. They believe that trouble happens because of something we did wrong. It’s likely we’ll all make mistakes along the way, but problems may arise we have no control over regardless of what we do. We can do everything right and still the road may turn because of circumstances beyond our reach. Problems will come but they cannot hold us in place. We will find the way ahead, and reach the destinations we desire.

Today if you feel like you’re in a whirlwind of trouble and can’t find your footing, stop and remember all the times you’ve succeeded already. You are intelligent and capable, and nothing is too difficult for you to manage. Trust yourself and step forward with confidence. You will find every answer. All your dreams are still there for you. Step forward and claim them.

Drip Drip Drip

8 Dec

Life is full of challenges. We face something new everyday and with each experience learn more about ourselves, and our world, and where we fit in the mix. Sometimes we face extreme trials that test us and push us to our limits. They come to us, tearing up our plans and revising the road ahead. Hard times teach us a lot, and make us stronger and wiser. Extreme situations will arise, but they won’t happen all the time. For most of the time, our aggravations and frustrations come from everyday annoyances and problems. We process them as they arise and continue on, but if we must deal with one issue after another for a long time, we may tire and feel like we can’t go on. The constant drip, drip, drip of trouble can wear us down. We may become weary of the struggle and think about dropping out – just stepping away and letting someone else deal with them. Escaping is always a possibility and if we want to, we can abandon our responsibilities and walk away. It may seem like a good idea when we’re tired and frustrated, but our problems don’t change when we ignore them. They wait and remain until we return. Others may be able to deal with the mess we leave behind, but if the issue is ours to solve, it will stay in place, exactly as we left it. It’s like going on vacation and leaving the house a mess – food containers on the counters, dirty dishes in the sink, clothes strewn everywhere and wet towels on the bathroom floor. We might forget about it while we’re having fun and enjoying our break, but nobody is going to break in and clean it up for us. It will be waiting for us when we return. Constant aggravations can be taxing, but we are intelligent and capable, and no matter how difficult things become, we can take care of them. We can manage our lives in ways that bring us comfort and satisfaction. By focusing on what we really want, we can move forward with confidence and reach success.

Our relationships are important to us, but not every relationship is easy and beneficial. If we’re in a situation where we are constantly making excuses for someone else’s behavior, or continually trying to fix situations caused by their decisions, our lives may be consumed with managing someone else’s problems. We can be kind and charitable, and let others manage their own issues. Our lives are ours to design, and with clarity and focus, we can achieve gratification and complete happiness.

We’re not superhuman or immune from fatigue. If we’re tired, we can step away and take a break from any situation. Standing still for a time will allow our minds to rest, and open new ideas and possibilities we may not have considered. Every problem has a solution, and nothing is too complex for us to figure out. We can trust ourselves to find the answers we need, and be confident we will prevail.

Today if you’ve been facing problems one after the other, and you’re tired of the struggle, step back and take a break. Let your mind rest and all the answers you’ve been seeking will rise. You are incredibly capable, and nothing can hold you down. Be confident and continue on. Every success is already there for you, and you will win.

Freedom

21 Aug

We’re all in control of our lives and can do anything we like. There are always endless options available and we can choose any road or destination we desire. We have all the intelligence and power we need to make excellent decisions, but we don’t live in a vacuum, and there are influences all around us. We can follow the rules that have proven to lead to success, or we can make up our own. We can obey laws or break them, choose wisely or make decisions based on greed, revenge or anything else. If we’re angry and spiteful, we may let our emotions determine how we’ll proceed. That may give us what we want right now, but lasting happiness may elude us. One thing is certain, no matter what we choose, there will be a consequence. What those consequences are isn’t always obvious, and if we step away from what we know is right in order to cheat or in some way pad the way forward, we may end up somewhere we never wanted to go. When we think of freedom, we might think it means we can do anything we want – and we can. But we are accountable for everything we do. Choices that hurt others and take us away from our personal values and ethical standards may give us immediate gratification, but may also tie us up and hold us in place. We can cheat and manipulate, and it might move us ahead quickly, but when the truth comes out, we may end up back at square one. Real freedom can only be achieved by doing what’s right, and choosing options that honor who we are. When we’re true to our personal standards, we’ll have a great sense of worth and satisfaction. We know what we want, and have everything we need to get it. By standing firm and honoring the person we most want to be, we’ll find lasting happiness and great success.

We’re all far more connected than we may realize. Everything we do leaves an impression or a mark. We impact the world simply because we’re here. If we’re kind and thoughtful, the road behind us will different than if we are mean and rude. Building connections instead of burning bridges will enable us to more freely move toward the goals we most desire. We have the power to create positive and fulfilling situations that pave the road ahead, and help us reach every destination we desire.

The world is a big place and we are often bombarded with messages about what we should do, and how we should live. Like a “get rich quick” scheme, we may be told if we just loosen our standards a little, and step away from what we know is right, we’ll be rewarded quickly and never have to look back. We can listen to any suggestions we like, but our lives are our responsibility. If we choose dishonesty, we may get tangled up in ways we never imagined. We have the power to live our lives well and effectively, and achieve all our goals in ways that embellish and enrich us.

Today if you’re tempted to do something you know isn’t right in an effort to jump ahead, remember who you are and what you really want. You are worth more than you can imagine, and your influence is valuable. Choose the best options possible, and step forward with clarity and confidence. Every destination you desire is already there for you. Be wise, and you’ll achieve great success and happiness.

Nothing Left

12 Aug

There are many things we’ll experience as we go through our lives. We never know what tomorrow will bring and we’re constantly adjusting to change and new developments. Most of the time we’re able to manage what comes and can find ways to work around complications and alter our plans if there is a sudden turn in the road. But life is uncertain, and unpredictable, and we may face a time when everything changes, and we must struggle to keep moving forward. If the situation is intense, and long lasting, we may tire and get overwhelmed. If we’ve been working a problem for a while, and still there is no resolution or reprieve, we may feel worn out and finished. There’s nothing left in our reserves, and we don’t believe we can go on. We all have limits to what we can handle at once, and the time may come when we simply must stop and step away. There is no shame in taking a break. If we need time to rest and restore, we can take it. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and we don’t have to solve everything right now. When we need respite from the storm, we can step back, sit down, and take the time we need to regroup and recover. The problems we’re facing will still be there when we’re ready to return, and while we’re resting new ideas and solutions will arise to help us find the way forward. We are intelligent and capable, and can do anything we must. We can pace ourselves in ways that help us move ahead, and find every answer we need. Life can be hard and we’ll all face times when we aren’t sure we will survive. But nothing can hold us down indefinitely, and with determination and focus, we will prevail. We are stronger than we think we are. We know what we want, and will find the way forward.

Relationships are important to us. When they are positive and loving, they bring great satisfaction and joy to our lives. We all want good, strong connections to those we love, but sometimes there are problems that make it difficult to continue. We never have to stay in any situation that makes us unhappy or afraid. Letting go isn’t always easy, but we are responsible for our own happiness. We can change our lives in ways that bring us greater joy and move us toward what we want the most.

We are always in control of our lives, and if where we are and what we’re doing isn’t working, we can change. There are unlimited opportunities available to us, and if we want something different, we can move in a new direction. We don’t need agreement or permission from our family or those around us. We can step forward toward something new and reach any goal we desire. Every success is possible, and we can make them ours.

Today if you’ve been on a long road and are tired of the struggle, step back and take time for yourself. Re-evaluate what you want the most. Decide how you want to proceed, and then step forward. You can change your direction at any time and do anything you desire. Every dream you seek is there for you. Trust yourself, and move forward with confidence. You deserve complete happiness, and you can have it.

Thin Skin

7 Aug

There are all kinds of people in the world and they each have their own ideas about life and how things should go. We know who we are, and are sure about what we want and how we want to move forward. It’s easy to make friends and feel comfortable when those around us are like us. When they believe the same things we do, and understand our point of view, it’s easy to connect and build alliances. But the world is a big place, and people come from many diverse backgrounds. There will be many others who are vastly different than we are, and their views may be in direct opposition to what we believe is right. That does not make them wrong, or wicked, or less than us. It only makes them different. If we can’t tolerate anything outside our own ideas, it will be very difficult to interact with them. We are entitled to believe anything we desire and we can form our own opinions about everything in life. But if we’re so thin skinned we cannot tolerate anyone who is different, it may be difficult for us to get along. Some people say they “celebrate diversity” but when someone questions their ideas and presents an opposing view, they shut down or become angry. No two people are exactly the same. Everyone has their own perspective, and unless they are hurting others, each has value. We don’t have to adopt anything we don’t want, and can decide how we’ll live our own lives. We can be confident in our views, and strong enough to accept other points of view, even if we don’t understand or agree with them. Life is full of variety and variation. We can be welcoming and respect other points of view, and still hold onto to what is most important. Everyone has worth, and we can honor each individual, and still choose our own way forward.

When we’re growing up, what we experience in our families seems normal and right. As we mature, we begin to see other expressions and understand that our experience is unique to us and not universal. We can hold onto exactly what makes us comfortable and refuse to change, or we can embrace other points of view and allow them to enrich our understanding of the world around us. Holding on may feel comfortable, but will never allow us to expand our thinking and become more accepting.

Life would be easier if everyone was the same. If we were all on the same road with the same ideas, there would be less conflict and more harmony. That may be true, but it’s the differences that bring great richness to our experience, and broaden our thinking. We can accept difference and uniqueness, and honor the right for everyone to express their own ideas and viewpoints. Life is a great teacher, and by being open and welcoming, we will gain great insight and wisdom.

Today if you want everyone to agree with you and find it hard to accept different points of view, remember we are all important and worthwhile. Each expression has value. Be open to new ideas that will enhance your experience and help you understand the world. You are incredible and capable, and nothing is beyond your reach. Let others tell you who they are, and welcome new ideas. Your life will be enriched, and you’ll find great satisfaction moving forward.
