Even Keel

2 Feb

We have complete control over every decision we make. We can do anything and go anywhere, and at times our plans go exactly as hoped. But we don’t have control over everything. There are millions of people making all kinds of decisions we know nothing about that may impact our lives negatively. We may be sailing along thinking everything is fine and then boom, it all falls apart because of something out of our control. It takes effort to keep everything in balance, but no matter what we do, there will be times when unknown forces will prevail. Everything may go sideways, and the road we were on may suddenly come to a full stop. When sudden changes happen and keep us from moving forward, it can be hard to figure out what to do next. There are unlimited roads to every destination but finding the right one in times of stress isn’t always easy. It’s like going to the old-fashioned video store. When we walk in, we know we want a movie but after seeing the thousands of options possible, it may be so overwhelming, we may walk out with nothing. When we suddenly must decide on a new way forward, we may have no idea how to proceed. There may be lots of suggestions from those around us and we can certainly listen to any advice given, but in the end the decision is ours. Trying to keep things on an even keel when everything is up in the air can be quite a trick. No matter what happens or stands in the way right now, every destination is still there for us. We are smart, and by taking our time and looking at everything objectively, will find the way. There isn’t any problem so complicated or complex we can’t figure it out. There isn’t any goal too far away or too hard to reach. We can trust ourselves to find the answers we need and reroute our course until we’re back on track. We know what we want and have everything necessary to get it. By stepping forward with confidence and clarity, we will succeed.

Nature is consistently balanced. There are no planets wobbling around the universe in uncontrolled motion, and nothing happens before its time. Green leaves don’t start sprouting in the fall, and the sun doesn’t rise at midnight. When facing a difficult situation, we could try to re-invent the wheel in an effort to slip through and take the easy way out. That might work, but if we align our decisions and actions around what is possible in our current circumstance, we will prevail.

We’re often busy and it’s easy for our personal lives to get out of balance. If we give too much away, we may struggle from personal neglect or fatigue. If we take too much from others, our relationships may suffer. By being mindful and keeping our priorities in sight, we can be successful at accomplishing much and still maintaining an even keel. There will always be more to do than we can complete. We can use wisdom and patience, and keep moving forward toward success.

Today if everything has suddenly changed, and all your plans are no longer possible, look at all the options possible. There will be a way to continue forward to your goal and you will find it. Trust yourself and choose the best road ahead. There isn’t anything you can’t accomplish. Success is there for you and you will reach it.
