In the Mud

25 Jan

Muddy, unpaved roads can be tricky to navigate. It’s hard to tell how thick mud is and if we hit a spot that’s very deep we may get stuck. It’s almost impossible to get traction through the mire as it oozes, and although our tires may spin around we may get nowhere. It’s frustrating to end up in the mud with no way to move forward but if we’re prepared we can address the situation and continue on our way. In our lives as we push forward toward our goals, it’s impossible to know what lies ahead. Sometimes the road we’re on gets messy, and just like getting stuck in the mud, we may be held in place until things clear again. If the complications are caused by others we may have to wait until they change their course or allow us to pass. However, many times, the obstacles are created by something within ourselves. Maybe we doubt we can continue forward, or we’re confused about what we should do next. Sometimes we get stopped because we lose our focus and have forgotten why we’re on the road to begin with or exactly where we’re headed. Life is complicated and busy, and there are lots of distractions around us. If we forget our reasons for going forward we may simply stay where we are. It’s like getting stuck in the mud. We’re still on the road but we’re going nowhere. Getting stuck doesn’t mean the journey is over. We can rethink our position, examine where we are and decide what we want to do next. Every goal is within reach and we can keep moving forward no matter what’s happened. We can address the mud, reset our priorities, and begin again. Mud happens, but we have everything we need to overcome it and achieve success.

There is no way to know what the future will bring. We can make the best plan possible and try to envision the complications we may face, but our situations are constantly changing and unforeseen problems may arise. If we aren’t devoted to the goal we may stop or retreat at the first snag. When we get to a difficult turn we can throw our hands up and walk away, or we can take the time we need to see everything clearly and plot our way through. Some problems may be intense and complex, but no matter what comes we have all the wisdom and intelligence we need to figure them out. There really isn’t anything strong enough to hold us in place if we want to continue forward.

Some roads will be more difficult than we imagined when we began. We may find the journey takes more time and energy than we planned on. If the demand is greater than we can manage now, we can set the goal aside and return to it when our situation has changed. There is no rush to complete a goal and sometimes all we need is more time. We can do anything we want to do and work around any complication. We can decide what’s most important and continue forward.

Today if you’re stuck and can’t move forward, look at the situation objectively and see where the problems lie. Decide if you want to continue or wait until things change, and then proceed. You can do anything and no goal is too far to reach. Set your priorities and continue forward. Success is always there for you, and you will find it.
