Set the Hook

8 Nov

We have all kinds of dreams and desires we want to accomplish.  We may spend time planning for them and pondering our steps forward.  When there is something we really want it may constantly encompass our thoughts.  Our desire and determination to achieve the goal may be strong and we may work diligently to move forward.  But sometimes things happen that stop us on our journey.  For instance, someone offers us a big slice of chocolate cake when we’re trying to lose weight.  Or there is a sale with incredible prices for things we desire when we’re trying to save money.  No matter what we want to accomplish there will always be something to distract us and take us from our focus.  If we go fishing and a big fish swallows our hook we may be excited about bringing it in and enjoying a feast.  Landing a big fish often involves some wrestling and a tug of war.  If we fail to set the hook, when we struggle to bring it in the fish may simply spit out the hook and all our effort will be for nothing.  Setting the hook ensures it is secure and unmovable.  The same thing is true for our plans and desires.  We must establish them so completely in our minds they are unmovable.  If our focus is solid and anchored, nothing will deter us.  We can do anything and go anywhere but we must desire the goal enough to set the hook and stand firm.  We have all the strength and wisdom to accomplish anything we desire.  We can choose our way forward and keep true on the path until we reach our destination.

When we share our goals and dreams with others it’s great when they support us and cheer us on, but we might have times when others work against us.  If we’re trying to do something they don’t like they may say and do things to discourage us.  If they doubt our ability to succeed they may suggest reasons to quit or tell us we’ll never win.  Everyone is entitled to their opinions and they may differ from ours.  We can listen to their comments and if they don’t agree with our plans, we can let them go.  We don’t need permission to design our own lives.  We are in control of what we do and can choose anything we like.

No road is clear and paved from beginning to end.  We may face detours, turns that take us in the wrong direction, and muddy areas where we get confused and unsure about the way forward.  Fog may roll in that obscures our vision and makes it hard to find the next mile.  If we are determined and patient, and take the time we need to plan each step, we will succeed.  Every destination is there for us.  There isn’t anything too difficult or challenging, and we can accomplish every goal we desire.  We can keep our eyes focused on the road ahead and continue forward with confidence.  Step by step we’ll move closer to the prize and find success.

Today, think about the goals you want to achieve.  Make a plan and begin your journey forward.  It doesn’t matter how far away they are or how long it may take.  Set your hook and take the first step.  You can do anything.  All your dreams can come true.  Begin today.  The whole world is there for you and you may have it.

Courage

7 Nov

Everyone has times in their lives that shake their security and make them feel unsure. We all go through experiences that are difficult and frightening and we may feel concerned we won’t be able to endure the challenge. If we must face something that takes away our safety and calm, and the situation is daunting and overwhelming, we may believe it’s beyond what we can manage. We may be afraid as we struggle to stand firm. Fear is an important emotion. It warns us and tells us to be alert to what is going on. It’s a survival mechanism that makes us aware and keeps us focused. But fear is also a tool we can use to understand where we are more clearly and show us the way forward. If we look at it objectively and control our response to it we can see the situation accurately and turn it into courage. Courage is merely strength in the face of danger or uncertainty. When we feel afraid we can step back for a moment, look at the entire situation openly and then stand strong knowing we will overcome whatever is ahead. Even if we aren’t sure exactly how we will proceed our courage will direct us and help us move forward. We realize how strong we are when we face extreme challenges. We have perfect courage within us and can pull it forward to navigate the most difficult problems we face. It’s always there. We need only reach for it. Everything is possible and there isn’t anything we can’t do. Trusting our abilities and being confident will help us access everything we need to overcome anything before us. We are strong and capable, and nothing will hold us in place.

When we are surprised by difficult developments that knock the wind out of us we may lose our footing for a moment. If the problem is extreme and complex, we may be breathless trying to figure out what is happening and how to get through. We may not be able to see the whole situation at first but if we give ourselves time to think and step back for a moment we will understand everything that’s happening. Once we see the problem clearly, no matter how bad things are, we will find a way through.

If we believe we don’t have the strength or courage to face an issue, we may talk ourselves into failure. However, we always have everything we need to face anything we must. It may be more than we want to face, it may require us to do things we are uncomfortable with, and it may take more time than we want to spend. But every solution is available if we are determined to find it. There is always another door to open and the answers are there. We can be confident and sure we will prevail. We can do anything we must and succeed.

Today if you’re facing an enormous problem that has rocked you and made you feel unsure, remember how strong you are. All the answers are there for you. You’ve already overcome many things and there isn’t anything too complex for you to unravel. You are amazing, capable, and wise. Be confident. Move forward. Success is there and you will reach it.

Accomplished

6 Nov

We meet all kinds of people as we go through our lives.  Some of them share common traits with us and others are very different.  We all define success in unique ways and accomplish many different things as we navigate forward.  Sometimes if we meet new people who have achieved great and impressive goals we may feel our lives are small in comparison.  We may look at ourselves compared to them and believe we haven’t done enough or our contributions are in some way less valuable.  None of us will have identical experiences and we all move in different ways on the roads we have chosen.  When we see the success others have achieved we may think our successes aren’t as important or are somehow beneath them.  It’s easy to believe we haven’t done enough when we compare ourselves to others we admire but every achievement no matter how small has value.  Every single step we take forward is an important success.  If we’re on the road we want to be on and headed in the direction we want to go we are successful.  The world’s ideas of success mean nothing.  We define our personal success by the standards we set for ourselves.  Maybe we haven’t published a book, run a marathon, or built a corporation.  But if what we’ve done has brought us satisfaction and happiness, we are successful.  Nothing can compare to the joy we find when we accomplish something we truly desire, no matter if others notice or not.  We are defined by our own standards.  Our lives are valuable and important and our contributions count.  Everything we do makes an impact and we are an integral part of the world around us.

Fame and fortune are big and spectacular.  We see it splashed across headlines, the covers of magazines and those who enjoy it get a lot of attention.  If we get caught up in what others think we should achieve and aren’t on those roads, we may believe we are failures.  If we haven’t earned a lot of money, or done anything sensational and noteworthy to those around us, we might think our lives are inconsequential and meaningless.  But every life has value.  Every one of us plays a role in the history of the world.  Every decision we make brings a result that affects the situation around us.  We fill an emptiness the world would experience without us.

We define our lives and design them in ways that bring us happiness and satisfaction.  What we value may not be what others find important.  Our goals are unique to what we want to accomplish.  We need not define our personal success by the parameters the world sets.  Our happiness is achieved when we do what is most important to us and takes us where we want to go.  The world belongs to us and we may define it according to our unique standards and desires.

Today if you’ve been comparing yourself to the successes of those around you and feel you haven’t accomplished enough, remember your life is yours to define.  You decide what your personal success looks like.  You are important and the world needs your influence.  Be yourself and be confident.  You have so much to offer and we’re all lucky you’re here.

Out of Sight

3 Nov

Living in the moment and keeping our eyes open to everything we’re experiencing helps us get the most satisfaction out of our lives. When we’re consciously aware of everything around us and what we’re doing we can make the best decisions and choose the most effective ways forward. But sometimes we might look another way. If there is something difficult to manage or painful to look at, we may choose to ignore it and keep our eyes averted. It’s fine to concentrate on other things while we work out issues that are pressing but if we keep our eyes away from what needs our attention we may find the situation worsens and there are more complications because of our neglect. If we need time out to think and determine our way forward we can take it, but if our time out becomes an escape hatch we may create complications. Truth is truth. It exists whether we face it or not. It’s best to look at every situation openly, see what’s really happening and do what is needed to move forward to bring us what we really want. Out of sight might take things out of focus but they will still remain. We are in control of our choices and can choose to face every situation as it arises and make the best decisions going forward. We are designing our lives and can make them any way we like. Happiness is there for us when we do what we want most and move forward toward the destinations we truly desire.

Everyone has dreams about how they want their lives to go. It’s good to dream and plan but if we want anything to come to us we must take action. Dreaming about traveling the world is great, but doing what is needed to make that dream a reality will bring success. We can do anything we desire and there is nothing out of reach if we are willing to take the necessary steps to make it happen. The longest journey always begins with the first step. We can take that step and continue forward until we reach the goal.

Our lives are busy and sometimes we must set goals aside while we manage other important responsibilities. Nobody can do everything at once and it’s wise to manage our priorities in ways that allow us to get things accomplished. Setting goals aside may be necessary but we must return to them if we want to reach them. We can revisit them as soon as we are able, reach any goal we desire, and create the lives we dream about. Being aware and remembering what is most important, and then choosing to move forward on the path toward success will bring us satisfaction and happiness. We can do anything. Being mindful, carefully planning and remaining aware will help us make all our dreams come true.

Today if you’ve been ignoring something that is holding you back, turn around and look at everything openly. Decide what is needed to address the situation and move forward. You know what you need to be happy. Take the first step on the road that will take you there. You are amazing and there isn’t anything you can’t do. Be strong, be confident, and make all your dreams come true.

False Prophets

2 Nov

As we go through our lives we have many destinations we want to reach.  Everything is possible and if we need assistance can seek the help and guidance of others.  There are likely many people around us willing to offer advice and information as we move forward.  Sometimes we take their counsel, and other times we may review their input and then continue on in our own way.  Although most people are good and will help us find the right way forward, there are some with personal agendas who may tell us to do something that will serve them in some way and keep us from progressing.  We don’t always know the motivations of others and like false prophets some may tell us to do things that instead of success bring us hardship and confusion.  Although they may appear to be our allies at first, if they are leading us astray the truth will rise and in time we will see things as they truly are.  It’s good to trust others and believe in them but not everyone is worthy of that trust.  We are wise and capable, and if we discover our trust has been abused we can turn another way and redirect our path forward.  If we follow someone else and discover they are taking us in the wrong direction we can step aside and start again.  We know what we want to do and where we want to go.  We have all we need to discern truth and find the right road.  Every destination is available to us and with careful determination we will reach any goal we desire.  There is nothing we can’t accomplish.  Finding the right road forward will help us achieve what we are seeking and bring us success.

We may face a time when someone in our circle who does not want us to succeed.  Perhaps they are intimidated by our accomplishments, or don’t have the courage to move forward themselves and want others to stay behind with them.  They may offer advice that will confound our efforts or suggest we are going the wrong way as we approach our goal.  We may listen to their comments and advice, and then let it go.  Our lives are ours to design and we know exactly what we want to do.  No matter what others want for us or where they think we should put our efforts we can continue forward according to our personal desires.

There is an old saying that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.  Everyone has their own ideas about how to define success.  If we want to do something that others do not value they may try to adjust our focus and pull us off track.  We are all in control of our lives and can live them any way we choose.  Our perception of what personal success looks like is unique to us.  We don’t need the approval of others to do what we want to do most.  Every opportunity is there for us and we can move forward on the roads that will take us where we want to go.  We are strong and intelligent, and we know what we want.  We can do anything and find success.

Today if you’ve been following the advice of someone else and find you are not getting closer to your goal, redirect your course according to your personal desires.  Be confident and sure.  Everything is there for you.  You know what you want and you know how to get it.  You can do anything.
