Courage

7 Nov

Everyone has times in their lives that shake their security and make them feel unsure. We all go through experiences that are difficult and frightening and we may feel concerned we won’t be able to endure the challenge. If we must face something that takes away our safety and calm, and the situation is daunting and overwhelming, we may believe it’s beyond what we can manage. We may be afraid as we struggle to stand firm. Fear is an important emotion. It warns us and tells us to be alert to what is going on. It’s a survival mechanism that makes us aware and keeps us focused. But fear is also a tool we can use to understand where we are more clearly and show us the way forward. If we look at it objectively and control our response to it we can see the situation accurately and turn it into courage. Courage is merely strength in the face of danger or uncertainty. When we feel afraid we can step back for a moment, look at the entire situation openly and then stand strong knowing we will overcome whatever is ahead. Even if we aren’t sure exactly how we will proceed our courage will direct us and help us move forward. We realize how strong we are when we face extreme challenges. We have perfect courage within us and can pull it forward to navigate the most difficult problems we face. It’s always there. We need only reach for it. Everything is possible and there isn’t anything we can’t do. Trusting our abilities and being confident will help us access everything we need to overcome anything before us. We are strong and capable, and nothing will hold us in place.

When we are surprised by difficult developments that knock the wind out of us we may lose our footing for a moment. If the problem is extreme and complex, we may be breathless trying to figure out what is happening and how to get through. We may not be able to see the whole situation at first but if we give ourselves time to think and step back for a moment we will understand everything that’s happening. Once we see the problem clearly, no matter how bad things are, we will find a way through.

If we believe we don’t have the strength or courage to face an issue, we may talk ourselves into failure. However, we always have everything we need to face anything we must. It may be more than we want to face, it may require us to do things we are uncomfortable with, and it may take more time than we want to spend. But every solution is available if we are determined to find it. There is always another door to open and the answers are there. We can be confident and sure we will prevail. We can do anything we must and succeed.

Today if you’re facing an enormous problem that has rocked you and made you feel unsure, remember how strong you are. All the answers are there for you. You’ve already overcome many things and there isn’t anything too complex for you to unravel. You are amazing, capable, and wise. Be confident. Move forward. Success is there and you will reach it.

Getting Back Up

9 Aug

Life is unpredictable.  No matter what we’re going through today, chances are tomorrow will be different.  We take life as it comes one step at a time and sometimes things happen that knock us down.  We may face serious disappointments we didn’t expect or someone may do something that hurts us and knocks us off course.  Life rarely happens in a straight line as we travel along.  There are generally all kinds of curves, detours and complications we must navigate moving forward.  If we’ve suffered a big setback and the wind has been knocked out of us there may be some confusion about how to get back on track.  We may feel disoriented and lost for a time and if the break has been severe enough, we may doubt our ability to continue forward.  Getting knocked down happens but it’s never a permanent situation.  It doesn’t end our journey and no matter what has happened, no matter how painful it is or how desperate we feel, we can get back up again.  We can rely on our internal strength even when the wind is fierce against us.  We can trust that no matter what comes we’ll overcome it and continue forward.  We may have to choose another road, or adjust our trajectory and there may be many obstacles to conquer to continue again.  It doesn’t matter what needs to be done.  We have all the courage, wisdom and strength to solve any problem and resolve any issue that is holding us down.  Nothing will stop us from standing up and moving forward.  There is a lot to be learned from conflict and we can take all the lessons we’ve gained forward with us.  We are strong and mighty, and nothing is too hard for us to overcome.

If we’ve had lots of success and have kept our eyes focused on our goals we may not see trouble brewing ahead.  When it comes we may try to figure out what went wrong as we attempt to unravel the problem before us and if we are responsible for the setback we will learn a lot by reviewing what happened.  But sometimes things change because of the decisions of others or developments out of our control.  When problems come and we get stuck, no matter what caused the situation, we can find our way forward again.

Learning to get back up after being knocked down takes determination and courage.  It doesn’t matter how difficult it may be to find our way again or if we have to go alone.  If we are determined to continue forward we will manage the complications and find our way.  We have all the courage we need to get up and keep going.  We are stronger than we think we are and nothing can stop us.  Success is always there for us.

Today if you’ve been knocked down and you feel lost and aren’t sure you can continue, get back up.  There isn’t anything strong enough to hold you down.  You have everything you need to succeed and nothing can stop you from winning.  The wind may be strong but you are stronger.  Keep going forward.  Everything you desire is waiting for you and you will have it.

Dealing

9 Aug

There are times in everyone’s life when things go wrong. There will be situations we can’t prevent and events we don’t want to endure. We have little control over what comes to us and no control over the decisions of others. Sometimes things will not be where we want them and there will be nothing we can do to change them. When that happens we have to cope with where we are and what’s going on. We have to deal with the situation as it is. It’s not easy to navigate times like these and we may feel frustrated, angry or sad. But if we really can’t change things we must accept them and walk through them as they are. Disappointments come and when they do we can keep moving forward. We are successful when we cope with difficult times and patiently work through them until they change. We can learn all we can as we go, and effectively navigate our course to the other side.

Learning to deal with disappointment and sorrow takes time. If we are stunned by something that’s happened unexpectedly we may lose our way for a moment. We may need some time to catch our breath and process what’s happened. If our foundation has been rocked, it may be hard to find our footing at first. But no matter what happens if we take our time to think about the situation and look at it objectively we will find our way through it and back to solid ground. We can deal and cope until things change.

Sometimes we think we could never go through certain experiences in life. We don’t feel we could survive extreme disappointments or sorrow, and can’t even think about them. But life continues on and even when we think we can’t go another minute, we do. Even when we think we’ve been overcome, we thrive. We wake up another day and find our way. We are resilient and steady in our ability to cope. If the wind is knocked out of us, we can catch our breath. If we are pushed down, we can get back up. If we are stunned, we can refocus. We can bounce back from anything that shakes us, and we can endure far more than we believe. There is no sorrow or disappointment strong enough or invasive enough to destroy us. We are capable of handling anything that comes and overcome it. We can take whatever time we need to find our way. No matter what happens, we will survive. And we will take the lessons learned and the strength we gained forward with us.

Today if you’re dealing with a difficult situation you cannot change, and you feel angry or upset, keep walking forward. You can handle anything that comes to you. You are strong and resilient and perfectly capable of managing this. You are getting braver and learning more each moment. Keep your eyes on the future. This will pass. Happiness is just around the corner.

Turbulence

11 Apr

When we’re traveling by air and take a seat on an airplane, we hope for a safe flight that is smooth and without complications. We want to get to our destination without undue stress or unnecessary excitement. Generally that’s what happens. We fly from place to place without incident or worry. But sometimes because of weather conditions we have turbulence. When that happens, the pilot puts the seat belt sign on and we’re asked to stay in our seats. If there is only minor turbulence most travelers endure the small bumps without concern. But if there is a ferocious storm or high winds, things may get intense as the plane is bounced around, and sometimes falls for what seems like forever before correcting. When that happens, turbulence is a completely different experience. Although air travel is by far the safest mode of transportation, it can be unnerving and frightening to sit belted in during severe turbulence. Although we may feel confident that everything will be fine, we may also feel worry and fear. We can have turbulence in our personal lives as well.  Everyone wants their lives to go along smoothly, and we don’t want difficult times to come upon us.  However, chances are they probably will, and things will get bumpy.  We may feel concerned and unsure.  But just like being on a plane, we can buckle in, sit tight, and get through.

No matter how pro-active we are, no matter how we prepare and plan, sometimes things go awry. There are a lot of people in our lives and they often impact what happens to us either purposefully for inadvertently. There is an old saying that if you want to see God laugh, make plans. It can feel that way sometimes. But all we can do is make the best decisions possible and hope things work out the way we want them to. When they don’t, we have to find another way. There are endless opportunities to change our minds and there is never just one way to do things. If we’re facing a storm, and the plane starts to fall a little, we can regroup and correct our course.

Because this life is all about our relationships with others and a lot of what we do depends on their decisions, there will be times when we’ll be hurt. It’s not possible to live our entire lives without being hurt from time to time. If the pain is extensive and we feel devastated, it can be like trying to navigate through strong winds in a horrible storm. We may slip, we might fall, it may be difficult to see the road ahead, and we might think we can’t survive. But there isn’t anything too hard for us to overcome. There is no storm so powerful that it will leave us hopeless. We can find a seat belt by focusing on our abilities, and we can sit tight as we figure out what to do next. We don’t have to go into the storm alone either. We can get help from those we trust and we can find our way. Turbulence isn’t pleasant. It’s upsetting when things get tossed around and we lose our footing. But no storm lasts forever, and no wind can blow without stopping. We have everything we need to make it through.

Today if things are bumpy and you’re unsure, and if there are problems that are making it hard to navigate, hang on. This is just turbulence. Sit tight and take your time. You have everything you need to find solid ground again and there are clear skies ahead. Keep your focus and trust your instincts. You will make it to the other side and find your way. You are stronger and smarter than you realize.

Learning to Bend

31 Mar

There are few times when things go exactly like we think they will. Our plans often have many modifications and sometimes we reach an ending that doesn’t look anything like we thought it would at the beginning. There are a lot of variables in life and we can’t control anything but our own choices. Other people may get involved, the situation may change, the weather may even come into play, and a thousand other possibilities. If we decide things have to go exactly as planned and they don’t, we may find ourselves in a very uncomfortable place. It’s great to make decisions but it’s important to remember complications may arise that color how things actually happen. We have to learn to bend from time to time. Sometimes it’s easy to turn one way or another, and other times it can be very difficult. But if we don’t bend our plans may fail altogether. It may be disappointing to have to change plans especially if they are very important to us. But it’s better to have some flexibility instead of breaking apart at the seams because we couldn’t stretch. Learning to bend takes practice but we can manage it. We can adjust and accommodate whatever is needed to find success.

Control is an illusion we sometimes believe in. We might think if we plan well or spend more money nothing will go wrong. But there is no way to predict the future and we can’t control anything but ourselves. There are often unforeseen developments and complications we couldn’t predict. Sometimes things go perfectly but often there is some sort of glitch. No matter what comes, no matter how complicated things get, if we are patient and look at the situation objectively we can find a way through. Sometimes complications bring us unexpected surprises that work even better than the original plan. If we’re flexible and able to adjust, we can take full advantage of those benefits when they surface.

Disappointment is natural when we have to make unwanted changes but disappointment is just a sign that we’re in transition. We are moving from one point to another. It doesn’t have to be negative. If we are able to lessen our grip on our first ideas we can more effectively embrace the next. Moving from one decision to another often brings challenges but it can also bring insight. Sometimes stepping away from our first position helps us see other options more clearly. If we can be flexible, if we can embrace change when needed, and if we can bend into the wind, we can find success. We can be open to new ideas and explore new paths.

Today if your plans aren’t working out like you hoped, there is another way. Your options are endless. Look around. See the whole picture and let new ideas find you. You can accommodate any change needed and you will succeed. Bend a little and stretch to find the answers. They are there waiting for you.
